I wasn't really in the mood for episode 3 until tonight, but I'm glad I saved it for a little while because the action is quite spectacular. Judging by the preview, the next installment will be much more light-hearted--which is great, because although I enjoyed the unrelenting drama and fighting in episode 3, the brief comedic scenes toward the end (not to mention the hilarious post-credits preview) almost killed me. I am still awed by the quality of Bleach's action sequences; the main show-down of this episode has some surprisingly innovative camera angles and feels a lot more dynamic than your average anime slugfest.

Hey, I've got a question for all you manga readers. I actually noticed the same thing as James regarding Tatsuki (is that right?) and Inoue--are there any

I already know which Bleach pairings--canon or not--I'm most likely going to ship. ;)

i completely agree about the action sequences in bleach, they are always stellar even in the mangas. thats one of the things that i love most about this series. and as for what Dagger was saying:

I think Tatsuki kinda sees herself as Inoue's big sister as well as her best friend, like its her duty to protect Inoue. towards the end of volume 5
Spoiler
and the end of volume 8 they go into more detail about their relationship if you feel like checking it out. but its nothing huge.

Just a quick heads-up: TechTV is currently airing R.O.D the TV (you can check the TechTV website for the exact schedule), and will start showing Gungrave at midnight on October 12. I was hoping that both of these highly anticipated series would end up on CN, but at least Adult Swim still has the Read or Die OVA.

Dammit, Dagger! You beat me to the punch 3 times! (just kidding)

The R.o.D airing on Cn was kind of a bummer, so now there are going to be a million Cn otakus clamoring for it like they do for InuYasha.

GitS:Sac is very, very well worth watching. I saw the 2nd volume by my friends house. Great art and action.

just watched ep 4, but i got Lunar's sub this time instead of ANBU's and i personally think ANBU does a much better job. anyway watching Rukia fumble with the juice box is hilarious, especially when Keigo asked her if he could help with anything.

Been a while.

I've been following Bleach through the manga for the past two months and have become quite attached to it. However, whenever a manga becomes an anime or vice versa, there is always the apprehensive part inside you that debates whether the anime will be as good as the manga or not. Bleach, so far, has been so so. Of course, this might be because I've read too much and the repetition of the storyline is boring me. I don't think I can make up my decision until the main enemy shifts from

[ANBU/A-Keep] Bleach 04 was released not too long ago.

It's a very good episode that's mostly about Chad and

I really like Chad as a character. He's a giant with a kind heart.

Whoa... episode 4 felt really short. ^_^;;

Anyway, Chad is cool. The part where he casually mentioned

was just hysterical. I'm having a hard time suspending my disbelief with regards to his age (especially in Ichigo's flashback!), but I guess that's part of the humor too. Happily, there were some more great sparkly Rukia moments in the first half of the episode.

The

The plot that unfolded in this episode was very interesting:

I just finished reading the manga up to where the story is in the anime. I was surprised that they changed the part about
Spoiler
worked out better, in my opinion. It made the scene mean more to me. I think Kubotite is making these changes himself because I don't see any reason that the animators would feel it needed to be changed.

I can't believe that they have already used up 12 chapters of the manga for only 5 episodes.

Added spoiler tags. These are pretty minor, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious, ne?

I also thought episode 5 was the best thus far. I want to see more of the
Spoiler
was actually surprisingly well handled.

The next episode looks as though it will lean more toward comedy than action, although I'm not wholly inclined to place a lot of faith in fifteen-second promos. It was pretty clever of the scriptwriters to make the previews be narrated by characters who have not yet been introduced... I'm curious about the guy who's taken care of the past two previews, not to mention that bizarre plushie/animal/thing which appears in the opening animation.

EDIT: It would be interesting if Kubotite was indeed behind those alterations, Dan. I like the idea of a manga-ka being able to streamline and otherwise improve his work as it undergoes the transition from page to screen.

actually in the credits Kubotite is only listed for the Original concept and the voice of Kon. so its whoever the director is thats making the changes

According to ANN, the director of Bleach is Noriyuki Abe. He has also directed Yu Yu Hakusho, Great Teacher Onizuka, Tantei Gakuen Q, Tokyo Mew Mew and Gakkou no Kaiden.

Wow... that's quite a resume, and definitely food for thought. Until I looked this up, I had no idea that the director of Bleach had also been in charge of Yu Yu Hakusho! Maybe this explains a) why his name sounds so familiar, and b) why I instantly took a liking to Bleach. Great Teacher Onizuka and Tokyo Mew Mew are both fan favorites. In a pleasant sort of coincidence, I'm currently on the fifteenth or sixteenth episode of Tantei Gakuen Q, otherwise known as Detective Anime Q. It's surprisingly addictive and well-made.

Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the few super-long shounen action anime with almost no filler and a satisfying ending, so knowing that Bleach has the same director gives me a lot of hope for the future of the anime.

i get most of my anime from the good ol' intarweb, its free but near impossible if you dont have broadband. if i like the series i go out and by the dvd's when they release. if they get licensed that is. i really don't care for the stuff that airs on cartoon network/adult swim because the english dubs are always such poor quality IMO.

btw, just watched ep. 6 and the series is getting better and better, im loving it. though they really overplayed the initial encouter with ichigo and kon more than they did in the manga. but i think it turned out for the best.

I couldn't wait any longer on ANBU/AKeep for episode 6 so I got Lunar for now.

I was very happy to see more characters introduced. The two kids, Jinta and Ururu look like they could be at the center of a lot of mischief going on in future episodes. We also got to see Urahara,
