@KawaiiSakura: I've never watched a Japanese television drama before, but Seigi no Mikata sounds interesting. Is it dubbed, or are there subtitles?

@John: Just looked up Europa. Max von Sydow is in it, so I've got to watch it.

@Zen: Pan's Labyrinth is definitely one of del Toro's best films. He's directing the two Hobbit movies, which is awesome.

Yep.

Getting ready to watch The Unbearable Lightness of Being:

1988 film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Milan Kundera.[1] It is directed by Philip Kaufman and written by Kaufman and Jean-Claude Carrière. Like the novel, it is set in Prague in 1968 and details the lives of artists and intellectuals in Czechoslovakia in the wake of the Prague Spring and the subsequent invasion by the USSR. It placed 87th on the AFI's 100 Years... 100 Passions[/URL'].

It stars Daniel Day-Lewis (read: "God").

Return of the Dragon/The Way of the Dragon
Fist of Fury/Chinese Connection

All that's missing is Enter the Dragon, Game of Death, and Big Boss. Anyway, acting wise, those movies are horrible. :) That's alright though. Those movies aren't meant to be watched for acting. They're action powerhouses. And I think any martial arts fan would enjoy them. Even though Bruce Lee's not hitting his opponents it's still nice to see it. His speed is something else.
Spoiler
is a prime example of it. I couldn't count the amount of times he tore into
Spoiler
chest and finished it with a kick to the face. (Beautiful stuff :) I'm just mean... :D)

It's too bad fights aren't as good as this nowdays.. The last great fight I saw was in The Protector. (No flashy graphics. No explosions. And most importantly, no wires. Just a straight up hand-to-hand fight.)

I just recently watched Misery, easily one of the best thrillers ever! Its about a woman who loves an authour that writes the Misery series of books. She saves him from a car wreck and nurses him back to health, but she doesnt ever want him to leave, so she starts doing all of these crazy things!
It's definately a must-see!

Rented newest Rambo film last night to see if Sly had managed to pull off a decent sequel after such a gap. Some obvious characterisations and social commentaries aside I found it quite an enjoyable guy-movie and would somewhat recommend it to someone looking to bond with male friends over an evening of beer and snacks.

I bought the first season of the HBO original series True Blood on DVD two days ago, and started watching it with my girlfriend yesterday. We haven't really watched anything else so far. It's such a great freakin' show. It's probably the best thing that's happened for vampire film/television in several years, and has helped me forget all about that Twlight crap. Being both a southerner and a fan of vampire stuff, I'm super impressed and highly pleased. Eric, the vampire sheriff of Area 5 is also a supreme badass despite the fact that he has yet to do really much of anything action wise on screen.

Great show. Amazing. I can't wait to watch season two.

I'm watching HBO's Rome.

Whatever your favorite tv show is, Rome is better. It pretty much blows away any drama/action show you've ever seen. HBO/Showtime >>>>>>>>>>> every other sad station that tries to make quality tv.

You though Gladiator was a good story about Ancient Rome? lol @ you. gtfo

WATCH ROME.

Just watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit with the girlfriend this evening. I'd forgotten how good it was, especially considering the actors were ostensibly reacting to nothing - they didn't even have a ball on a stick like the one they used for Dobby in Harry Potter. Hoskins in particular is awesome as ever.

However, my favourite film to watch for a well-established actor acting alongside cartoons/CGI/puppets for the duration of a film is still Muppet Christmas Carol. Fantastic to watch Michael Caine acting completely straight whilst talking to Gonzo in a top hat.

Can't say as I did, no.

So I watched the House Bunny yesterday, mainly because I discovered that Kat Dennings and Emma Stone were in it, and my huge crushes on the both of them compelled me too.

It was funny, which is much more than I was expecting.

As a side note, this was the latest in a line of "girls getting makeover" movies where I found the girls infinitely more attractive before the makeover.

Beware the nerds!

It's a joke.

I have been completely obsessed with Entourage for the past few months. It's just so perfect - the characters are awesome, the plot is great, every episode is funderful, and there are plenty laugh-out-loud or 'yes!' moments throughout. As an aspiring moviemaker, it's very inspiring and exciting to see what I might think of as 'my future' played out on screen.

I could go on about all of the characters, but man, Ari Gold really does steal the show sometimes. He's better than Dr. Cox and House combined when it comes to being a loveable hard@ss, and unlike them, he's closer to my own personality, which has kind of had me obsessed with the notion of 'being Ari Gold' XD

For some reason I'm in the mood to watch Dr. Who, so I'm rewatching the first season. The one where they started again, not the classic Dr. Who.

Poised and ready to watch Awakenings:

Posted Image

Awakenings is a 1990 drama film based on Oliver Sacks' memoir of the same name. It tells the true story of Oliver Sacks, fictionalized as American Malcolm Sayer and played by Robin Williams who, in 1969, discovers beneficial effects of the then-new drug L-Dopa. He administered it to catatonic patients who survived the 1917-1928 epidemic of encephalitis lethargica. Leonard Lowe (played by Robert De Niro) and the rest of the patients were awakened after decades of catatonic state and have to deal with a new life in a new time.

Directed by Penny Marshall, the film stars Robert De Niro, Robin Williams, John Heard, Ruth Nelson, Julie Kavner, Penelope Ann Miller and Max von Sydow. The film has a cameo from jazz legend Dexter Gordon (who died before the film's release) who appears as a patient and then-unknowns Vin Diesel and Vincent Pastore play an hospital orderly and a psyche ward patient.

Just look at that lineup! John Heard and Max von Sydow? And directed by Laverne to boot!

I'm pressing play right now!

For movies Ive watched the Happening and The Mist. Both of which I was very dissapointed with. The Mist was getting good for a while but the ending sank the whole movie for me. As for the Happening....it was just lame. The plot was dumb and the movie got started way too fast. I like when the movie builds up to the killing.

For tv shows....Ive been watching Scrubs on Comedy Central alot! I love that show...it is so much like real life except for the doctor part. Of course not many of many are aspiring doctors but I feel that most of the show wasnt even about a hospital. For the record I hate Carla, because she always has to be right no matter what even when she is dead wrong. I lvoe it when someone sticks it to her...especially Turk. JD is great, Turk is great, I can stand Elliot(for a short while), and Dr. Cox is great. The side character are always funny as well.

I just watched a movie called Hell Ride.

The direction was confusing and choppy, the characters were kinda silly, and the action was excrutiatingly boring.

But 90% of the dialogue consisted of absolutely horrible puns, so I guess it evened out.

Beware the nerds!

It's a joke.

The Spectacular Spider-Man

Pretty much like Batman: Brave and the Bold, I haven't been able to catch this as much as I wanted to, but I have a better chance of watching this moreso than BatB since I turn to DXD more often than CN.

Anyway, this is probably the best cartoon that's been on tv since Avatar. The artwork's no where near the level of Avatar, but when the action comes around it delivers big time. It almost makes you forget about its quirky design because the fights are that good. I was watching the episode where Venom first fought Spidey (OMG!!)

Character interaction is just as good if not better than the 90's version, although I've always hated how Petey takes all that crap from everyone and does nothing, (That will probably never change) which is an added plus everytime I get to see any episode that involves symbiote (sp?) spidey.

I have a lot of catching up to do on this one. I just might get the DVD's to this. I'd like to see more of Black Cat since the episode I saw her in, I thought was pretty funny, with Spidey's comments.

Anyway, if I were to compare this to all the other cartoons my top 5 would look something like...

1 - Ghost in the Shell: SAC
2 - Cowboy Bebop
3 - Avatar the Last Airbender
4 - Justice League/Unlimited
5 - Spectacular Spider-Man (Might even go higher than that once I see the rest of the episodes)
