1. Wow, at first I thought this thread would get no attention, but it seems to have gotten a few responses. James, Desbresko, etc... I remember the two of you, not the rest though. ;) Also queen Asuka... glad to see your still around, I figured a pretty girl like you who just went off to college would have no time for this place. Guess you really are the queen otaku. btw, I have probably been around a lot longer than most of you think. I've got something over a thousand post and been here since something like... Hmm... Ahh... 12-31-2001. That means I've been here a lot longer than most of you thought for sure. Also... I'm not smoking anything CrH... duh, it's from march 2003. ;) Just thought this was James' myotaku account, guess it's not though... but it's still proof that I was here back in the day. :D I'd rather if you didn't post that link, Kent. - James Anyway, I really want to comment on the fact that I am so happy about the success of myotaku and the continuing success of this site in general. The board is great, the options like myotaku are awesome, and the main site is still as good as ever. (even better.) As for me, I was thinking about getting an account for my otaku going, but I don't know that I have the time, none the less, the audience willing to read my rants. As for you all, I am impressed that so many of you remain some-what-regular in your entries with myotaku. I bet that makes james happy as can be. :D Also, I've gotta ask... is Adam still around? And what about all the other members from back in the 2002 era. Makes me feel older than I am, and even nerdier than ever before. Anyway, thanks for actually answering me on this one everybody... lots of help is what you have given... now I have a better idea of whether or not I should get down with myotaku. Well, till next time. :D -kent
 2. Hey, First off, is my otaku still around? (sorry, I will delete this if it isn't.) I wanted to ask you all about your "my otaku" setups. This is all sparked because I was told to search the net for my name from another forum and former name here, GoKents. I searched and came up with a blog entry by James from March, 2003. At one point in the post it was all about James, Cloricus and I. Yeah it was kinda funny. ;) So I started thinking about it... Just what all do you guys do with your "my otaku" accounts. How long have you been using my otaku? How frequently do you work with my otaku? What all of you do with my otaku? Personally, I don't even have my otaku setup. If anything is in there, it's thanks to a wonderful default setup by this site. Anyway, glad to have this stop in again with the otaku. Hello! To all those who I remember from the past. Just notice tn on... Catch you later. :D
 3. Yeah tn... Another great part of this movie that is only noticed for a second is the overall city views. When major explosions occured, they would back out and look at the city... this was another one of the big hints in the movie... In the begining
when the truck ran through an intersection and created a huge explosion, the camera dropped back, showed the whole city, and the other explosions. Probably 3 others, with 4 in total. These were all of the people fighting for their lives...
However,
at the end of the movie, at the dock, the explosion scene there moved back just to show a dead city with no explosions... no fighting, no life.
I thought that was great use of FX and foreshadowing. Definately a great movie for the tough stomach and minded individual with a taste for horror. It even develop character realationships,
like in the van when homey showed the blonde hottie his litte "cut the zombies in half with a chainsaw" innovation for the truck... He said, "Im really trying" to which she replied "I know you are" then instead of friday the 13th style sex scene, you got hand holding and emotion...
That was much more powerful than most of the other relationships in horror movies. Too bad they had to involve the preganant woman... without that, this movie would get a serious two thumbs up. :D
 4.
HUGE SPOILER!!! Do NOT READ if you don't want anything about the movie ruined!!!! WARNING!!
At the end of the movie, they are in the boat. . and they start having problems. . They run out of gas, then they run out of food and water. Finally, they find a land mass, and dock the boat at a nearby marina/docks. . Anyways, I didn't stay till the very, very, very end. . but from everything I saw, they docked, and jumped on the dock. While they were walking up, the dog ran off ahead, and started barking like crazy. Well, it seems this island was also infested, and through the rest of the 'credits' they start shooting the zombies that attack. . but, I'm guessing to no avail. I didn't want to stay till the very very last second, but pretty much, they all die. . If I am missing anything important (like. . they didn't all die?). . let me know. I was sort of happy that everyone died (pressumably), but honeslty. . you survive a world problem, and then you ruin it by landing the boat AT A DOCK? What happened to swimming from the boat to the island and investigating a little bit? *sighs* Oh wel. .

I would like to ride in your boat... I can pull my weight though. ;)
the vampire ed it basically shows that they're screwed anyway, and most likely die. The boat's engine went out, catching fire and such, their food was so old it was littered with maggots, and so they obviously wouldn't survive on the boat in the middle of no where. Then to top it off they get to an island which is apparently littered with zombies as well, and with the boat's dead engine that kinda kills the whole escaping on the boat idea. So I think in the end they basically died.
Thanks for answering the question so well. (same to you too noryko) I thought the movie was good looking back, but I was absolutely frightened at times in this movie. I could surely watch it again and enjoy it much more... ;) Spoiler
Did anyone notice the victim entering the hospital as our lovely blonde was getting off work? A nasty neck wound about the size of a bite I would say.
Anyway... back some time in the future. (dont post as much as I used to at the otaku, but you guys are always helpful, thanks.) :D
 5. Well I just finished this movie. I was suprised, this movie was seriously non-stop action violence with only the slightest slow down. Even with slowing down the movie retained a disgusting concept that is almost too much to discuss.   :( I just want to know one thing... what happend when the "sun was rising" so to speak. I mean, the end, it flashed to the ending and very first credit... But the film flashed back to something. This was the very end and right when it starts to close, it had a flash of credits, and then something... what was that something? I was in a serious rush sadly. ;) So I had to leave the show right at that first credit... what were those final images? it's almost killing me. ;) Basically, the movie started to end after the people got -- the ----. And home girl was standing with the sun behind her... thats when I had to leave, what happend after that? Thanks -
 6. I've been a little unhappy with the show lately. Action has declined and even some fan-service showed up yesterday when the girls got jobs in coffee shop. (not that I've got a problem with that.) ;) It should be noted that the story did make developments on the charactor interaction side. We even saw amon do the easiest breakup ever between couples. So I was pleased with that, but still unhappy in the overall. The rest of the show's episodes better take full advantage of amon's unknown powers. I mean, talk about a trump card, any episode could turn into a perfect show thanks to an amazing action sequence (that I know they can do) in combo with some great story work. (thanks to a unique subject... that being the whole "hunting witches thing" ) So yeah, I just hope things get better. But I also hope that the relationship issues continue to develop as well. :D
 7. Hmm... this does indeed sound like a bad move. Putting down a new system all together is always a risk, and when you alienate your core audience by doing so, you are infact making a bad move. A very bad move. This is sad to me as I was hoping to see some more yyh on weekday afternoons. Im also saddened by this due to the fact that this will take almost all of my afternoon tv away. Then again, now that I think of it, I can see why they are doing this. I mean, if you take a look at it... If cn was to keep adult swim around, fix up the weekend schedule as much as possible, and then cater to the youngsters with the afternoon schedule, it would be very marketable for them and very boring for us. (on weekdays) I think the key for cn would be to continue bringing new animes over here. btw, teen titans does not suck at all, infact, I think it's a rather good show. So while you are entitled to your opinion, don't be suprised if people laugh you out when you knock the titans for being an "american anime" or whatever it was called. Fact is, anime is actually japanese animation that's based on pre-1950 cartoons, so if we're gonna sit around and act like getting artistic influence from outside sources is a bad thing, then we better start knockin on the japanese for stealing betty boop style all those years back.
 8. Intresting post dagger. Very observant and well formed opinion, but I think you are simplifying the similarities to other shows. Just for starters, the music is really an issue of being a good show or not. Most of the best shows manage to use music as part of the show. It sets atmosphere, it creates suspence and lets us (the viewer) understand moods that would not be expressed had there been no sound on the show. So if the music is good in your opinion, I appreciate and respect that, especially since your capable of doing so. However, I would still say the comparison is off since it could be applied to so many different shows. I should also mention that when I first saw big O back on it's first season first run at cn, I thought of it as a bad batman/cowboy bebop rip off. So that really does make me extremely biased in my opinions of the program. The next thing I want to mention is the philosophical dialog... while you may feel there isn't much, I feel that there is always atleast 1 speech by roger and on top of that, there seems to always be a villian that wants to talk about something deep but nevers wants to "spit-it-out-already." Then there is the action element... For me, the badass females with their small suits in bcg were an awesome factor for the appreciation of the series. In big O, there really isn't much of that at all, so like you I don't really pay attention to what they try. In the end, I feel there are really 2 different levels to look at this show compared to others. 1 being the structure of the show... (i.e. the plot, the episode # and placement of story developments within) 2 being the look of the show... (this being the artistic style, the music, etc.) When looking at it from my point of view, big O just doesn't really match up to bcg in my mind. (then again, Im not really sure I watched this bcg called 2040 or whatever... how long ago was that made? ) Could I have watched this bcg you are reffering to about 9 years ago? Im gonna have to go catch up on some of the older series and their remakes... you know I still haven't seen that vampire hunter D: blood lust. ) Anyway, I still think you put forth an excellent post and opinion, so good deal. Later.
 9. Excellent. I would say that when you "grow up" the term immature is replaced by dumb. (sorry to say it so bluntly but there is a population of people that just aren't smart on even an average level.) The closed minded point is also awesome. Fact is, too often in debates people use closed minded as a way to defend their own view. By defending I mean, trying to invalidate your opinion by suggest you are not capable of understanding the "more intelligent" ideas that they are trying to argue in favor of. Great points made wrist cutter.
 10. I came out with this on my first post in this thread... (I think :D ) I haven't seen whr outside of cn. With that in mind, I asked a question earlier. What are amon & the rookie's powers ? (Im not reffering to robin as the rookie... I mean the young male field agent) I'm guessing there aren't many people here who have watched beyond what cn has aired ? There's nothing wrong with that, not at all. Heck, you at the quality review before mine which included spoiler taged examples of the show's different qualities. :D Anyway, if you guys know what I'm looking for, thanks. If not, I guess we will all learn in time, right? ;) btw, I also heard that whr is a single season show, is that true?
 11. First off, big O is nothing like b.g.c. Big O is based on a man who is called "the negotiator". This guy is voiced in english by the man who does c.b.'s spike. The basic premise of the show is this man's adventures with his "mega-duece". The mega-duece he reffers to as big O is not anything like most of the mechs from anime. Only it's size is similar to gundams, and speed... well there really isn't any. The show uses an emphasis on how slow a robot of that size would be and works well within those limitations. The combat between mechs is limited to about 1 fight per a show with only 2 mechs in each fight. If your a fan of fast gundams, evas or b.g.c. style mobile suits, don't expect to be happy with the mech combat. But like I said, it still does an alright job of getting some action in. There is also a major theme about memories and our attachment to the past. However, this concept is often badly written and even more poorly organized on a philosophical level. Only the most accepting minds will be able to listen to the long philosophical monologes without saying to themself, damn, this is just rediculus! So, yes, big O is a show to give a try, but it is certainly not worth comparing to the likes of series such as bubble gum crisis or gundam. btw, in japan big O was a failure through and through, but as it failed there, it aired here and began to do better than expected. (thanks to cn.) The only reason season two came was for the american market.
 12. A few, some for good, some for bad. First would be vampire hunter D: it was the first I saw all those years back and thanks to it, the anime lover is now part of my personality. Second would be akira: it was the first one to show me the truely touching stories that can be expressed in this beloved art form. Third would be dbz: got hooked on it for a long time. It's a great show, but now that I am past dbz, I'm starting to get an understanding of really, really good anime series. Fourth would be cowboy bebop: it is just the perfect single season anime for me. The somber tone and the awesome action make for my favorite anime... (more or less... it's so hard to decide a favorite. )
 13. I have always been more mature than my age would imply. When my father died I was 7 years old, that will change you. Sadly, sometimes the first thing you learn about the world is the cold truth of death. When life and death gets broken down like that, you learn about the real world, and you learn quickly. After something like an immediate family death, jr. high and high school are cake. Unfortunately, immaturity does not stop after highschool or even college, infact, immaturity can last all of someone's life. I hope you all can manage to be mature in life, it will help you. So good luck out there in the real world and remember to always enjoy life. :D

 15. Well I posted this question in the cn line-up thread, but nothing... so I take it to the thread for the subject. :D What I was wondering about was the powers of amon (sp?) and the rookie. (don't know his name) Could anyone tell me whats up with these two? Thanks. btw, whr would be totally awesome if it wasn't for the artsy coffee shop theme. :p
