1. If this has already happened, but I just missed out, I'm going to cry. So, the past week, I've been plowing through three seasons of The Tester and thinking about OB and missing all the good times. Ever since moving back to San Francisco after college, I've also been frequenting Korean restaurants, where they serve a beer called 'OB.' Then it hit me that it's been over 10 years since I joined OB! I was wondering if there has been an OB reunion. I know a lot of members were here way before 10 years ago, so I'm wondering if any sort of 10 year reunion has already happened ... I'm sooooo intrigued to see how people have grown up (or stayed the same), what they're doing now, if they've started families ... that sort of thing. The OB community will always be family to me and the memories of fun times on the board have a permanent place in my heart. Since we're spread across several states and continents, I'm guessing a physical meetup/reunion would be tough ... but I just thought it would be fun to at least try to get in contact with old members (try to find them) and contact them and try to get them to come back for the board for at least a post (an update) ... or just a day of partying on the boards (at least). Thoughts? I would really love to try to get in touch with old OB members ...
2. Hi! I live in California too. It's sooo wonderful and easy to be vegetarian in CA ... so many great vegan/vegetarian restaurants, diverse ethnic cuisines that make eating veggies way more interesting than just raw or grilling ... cheers! I was vegan for about five years and vegetarian for seven ... but then I went to college and as a result of limited dining commons options, I ended up with protein deficiency. I'm an omnivore now, but totally end up eating vegan/veggie all the time just because hummus wraps, falafel wraps, seitan shawarmas, all sorts of Asian vegetable dishes, etc are just sooo tasty! I'm not a new member, but I've been on hiatus for a while ... so hi everybody, I'm Dyne but I've been 'Juu' on the boards since around 2002. I'm 21 now, so it's actually been a full TEN YEARS since I joined the boards! OMG! Really wish there could be a 10 year reunion. I feel like a n00b with so many new members now though. I spent the last six years or so trying to be "cool" being in rock bands and modeling so I'm kinda stunted when it comes to what anime and games I'm into, and when I was really active on the boards I was really into Star Wars and LotR ... ^^ I'm still really into Star Wars and games (thanks to uber gamer boyfriend) but haven't had time to check out any new anime ... looking to get into gaming some more after I take the LSAT (exam for law school) when I finally get some free time. I've been super busy the last three years trying to graduate college with honors and a double major in three years. Now that that's accomplished, I'm interning at two pretty cool political/social justice organizations ... the ACLU and NLG. I'm a far Lefty when it comes to politics but I'm not rigid ... like I'm a feminist, but I know that guys have it pretty bad in other areas too - like incarceration, family law, breadwinner expectations, etc. After going to college in Santa Barbara, CA, I moved back to San Francisco. This being my first time without homework in like 13 years, it's been pretty cool! I've been coming home from work just really wanting to unwind ... lately it's involved TV. My BF introduced me to the realty show The Tester and ... not only was it terribly addictive, it made me miss OB SO much!!! The contestants totally reminded me of old-me and friends on OB (who I love love love and miss dearly). OB was so beautifully tight-knit. Sad to see it doesn't seem quite as active as it once was, but I have hopes that maybe that heyday can start up again! At least I wonder if we could have some sort of reunion ... In any case, hi!!! I think I'll stick around a bit longer this time. I tried to come back but was caught up in school ... OB's such a fantastic community and I'm so delighted to see that it still seems to be that way!
3. I managed to get to about Level 30 as a Sith Inquisitor/Assassin. Total blast being Empire. Although I admit I feel some remorse after doing Sithy things. I just have to be an overachiever when it comes to being evil too I guess. My companion loved me for it, at least. My BF by contrast played an Imperial Agent with a more complicated position - like 50/50 light v dark points. May possibly try Jedi eventually ... the whole BioWare setup is pretty fun! Super excited to get back into playing in a few months because I finally reached the level where I actually fight other real players. Just annoying to get attacked by guilds though ... I wanna roll with a crew too! :0 Also, I don't know if people normally do this for MMOs, but I'm thinking about streaming on Twitch when I start playing again ...
4. I was really hooked on SWTOR until graduation rolled around (it turned out to be a great way to save my liver and grades - surprisingly - in my last months of college haha) ... I've banned myself from playing any more until after I take the LSAT, but I'm super excited to play again. Really wish I could start a guild with some folks but too many friends are burned out from years of WoW or don't want to pay $60 for the game and then $15/mo after. ;_; If anyone is looking for a SWTOR buddy around October, hit me UP! Played with boyfriend and friend for a few months, but boyfriend got bored of it ... both of us expected more of our friends to get it :,( Also been playing Civilization V here and there. Pretty neat since I'm really into history. Kinda ambivalent about the categories 'cultural victory,' 'military victory,' etc ... but eh, still fun. And like SWTOR, boyfriend has it and is really good at it. It's like chess on crack. Pairs well with wine and snacks. Want to start playing MOBA/RTS games but don't know where to start haha. BF is into Heroes of Newerth ... quite stubbornly against DotA. The last time I played one of those was GunBound (lol if that even counts), and I was just starting to kick butt at it ... god I feel old. o_o Oh yeah ... and heard there are new Pokemon games out ... omg, once the LSAT is over, I can't wait to check them out and see how many thousands of new Pokemon have been added since the last time I checked haha. Really missing some old games like Animal Crossing and really old ones like Pokemon Snap and Stadium *_* Time to dig through some boxes ... Ooh yeah, and YourShape for Kinect has been fun, too. Really feel the burn! The game was perfect for the rainy winter season when it was too rainy to get to the gym. Very tempted to get the Star Wars Kinect game too ...

Happy birthday to Juu, Happy birthday to Juu. Ha, see what I did there?

7.
Wow, that's a beautiful post, Juu. :) You seem so grown-up now! It makes me feel old, haha.
Funny you should say that, because coming back and looking at some profiles of people, I thought, "Wha? She/he's only 3 years, 8 years older than me?" You know the younger you are, the tiniest age gaps feel enormous. I looked up to people who were 3-8 years older than me on the boards like sages haha. Now it feels like it's leveled out and we can all go for beers and enjoy ourselves ^^ Most of my friends IRL these days are 5-12 years older than me. Then again, I have been able to be "four years older" than I am particular weekend outings - things haven't changed much (I was "18" in theOtaku chat when I was 11, and "14" on the boards when I was 12). O:) It's great to see OB's still your baby! I feel like OB's my family, but I just left for college for a few years or something. Oh I miss those days! Really wish some sort of reunion could be arranged. Some old members have babies now. Can't believe how time has passed! Hope more members keep popping back as it nears than 10-year mark! p.s. Don't feel old. I just look extra old cheers to smoking cigarettes from age 13-18 and going out to bars a lot and hanging out around rock bands since the age of 16. Fortunately, it got boring as soon as I came of that legal age to buy cigarettes, so I quit. But it certainly took its toll T_T So, it's not you, it's me!
8. Wonder what all the old OBers from 2002-05ish are up to these days ...

Exactly what JC said. Haha, how've ya been Juu-juu?

9. WOW!!! I'm so happy somebody started this thread! I miss the OtakuBoards community! I wonder if I'll ever be so tight with a community online again ... Hope everybody's well! Hope we can get in touch and catch up ... maybe even a reunion. =) Me lately: I'm currently studying sociology and history at University of California Santa Barbara, in my senior year. Since leaving the boards, I've been really politically active (radical Leftist causes ... especially passionate about intersectionality of race, class, gender, sexuality ... presenting my research paper on Marx and race during the Civil War next week in Canada, immigration, restorative justice), briefly had a stint with being in a rock band, modeling, but ironically became a hermit nerd since arriving at party school UCSB. Got engaged to a great guy two years ago, living together now, just visited Korea and Japan together this summer. Shed out of that teenage angst and am the happiest I've ever been. Lately, I'm still involved in radical Leftist politics, I run about 3 miles a day, no longer a vegan after 5 years but still a huge health nut. Since I didn't talk too much about anime while on the boards, it's really whenever something comes up about Star Wars or Lord of the Rings that I'm reminded of OB. I remember how fun it was to do the RPGs and engage in really lengthy discussions. I think the standards for grammar on these boards turned me into a better writer. Hmm, and there is also a beer in Korea called OB. I think the beer sent me some subliminal reminders of this wonderful place. I miss everybody and miss the great times we had IMing until crazy hours with all the insomniacs in the US and Englishmen several stupid time zones away. I thank Queen Asuka for making that 'Many Faces of Otakuboards' page. I've visited it here and there and thought about the good times with great people. Nothing but love for OB!

Happy birthday Juu.

11. Dark chocolate covered espresso beans are heavenly, but they also make me crazy. The last time I picked 'em up at a starbucks, I was filled with an urge to scrub my boyfriend's (& roommates) kitchen (...quite scary, I'll tell you), wash his floor with paper towels, pace room to room, do yoga/striptease stretches, dance, and thoroughly terrified him by harassing him all night. After two months of not touching chocolate, I had a JD-filled chocolate and I spent 11 hours cleaning my room last night. Not just cleaning, though. I rearranged the whole thing so my bookshelves moved diagonally, my desk made a 90 degree turn across the room, my bed's also flipped 90 degrees, and I scrubbed the floor by hand and rearranged my bookshelf and arranged my magazines chronologically. I think I'll go out for some gourmet dark chocolate-covered almonds before I tackle my closet ...
12. Sex is the best means of communication, hands down. Talking face to face is nice too. More animated reactions and obviously more multi-dimensional. It's the most honest, but at the same time the most difficult. There's nothing to hide behind, and far less ambiguity. When it comes to debates and discussions, I find it easier to write first, then speak. That way I can organise my thoughts and support them so they're clearer, without interruption. I find it more effective to write when I have to defend something important or make a dire point. Notes are fantastic. Although e-mail/IM/phones make communication far more convenient, they're so impersonal. I'm ashamed to admit that I don't remember my friends' handwriting as clearly as I would like. We spend so much time together but I hardly see them write. Since we're texting all day, notes are less common ... But certainly, the more personal, the better.
13.

Oh no! All of my top three major choices!!! No waaaaay ... (Political Science, International Relations, Psychology) Argh. I was planning to date outside my major anyway. Neuroscience rocks. It's not dull at all - to me, at least. It's like the neutral ground between chemistry and psychology. But come on now, it's Wellesley.
14.
My life is about as interesting as a bag of half roasted peanuts.
Fantastic. I'm jealous. I love your banner, Lick. I miss England a lot. Not the water, but definately the people. Hope you enjoy your stay on the boards ... it's not nearly as active as I remember it, but it's still full of pleasant people nevertheless.
15. Please. IQ is sooo 20th century.
