This is the voting thread for Week 006, where all members of the OtakuBoards community are welcome and encouraged to join and vote for their favorite banner for the week.

Voting will be taking place until Monday November 3rd, 2008 @ 4:00 PM GMT+1. The next SOTW contest will begin shortly after that date.


A few notes before voting

• We encourage you to both vote in the poll and reply with a post stating who you voted for and why. In the post you can let the participant know what you liked, didn't like and in the latter case, how they could improve. For further information, please read the Art Studio Basics thread, on Constructive Criticism.
• Remember, this is a banner contest. Therefor, please do not vote for someone because you like the person so much, but instead vote for someone because you like the banner over the other banners.
• When voting, you're asked to also look at how well the banner fits the theme. This week's theme is War. Whose banner do you think resembled this theme the best?

I'm going to have to go with jigglyness on this one. I really like how she didn't even put in text because there's not much you can say that hasn't already been said about war. The soldier crying is a pretty unique picture as well and she really brought everything together by making it all black and white.

I don't know if people vote for themselves usually or what but I voted for SaiyanPrincess. Its definitely the best one on here. Good luck.

jigglyness definitely deserves this.

the value totally makes you focus on the soldier crying, and that really gets the message across regarding war. I agree, no text is necessary, it's very clear. The images are good quality and the black and white is perfect for it.

SPX because her banner is bitchin'.

*ahem* It's the colours, really. I love those colours and they're very fitting for a war theme. That's the kind of colour you find on decay and old things, and I think the sort of 'decaying' look in the background contrasts with the text, which makes it look more technological and... stuff. Two things in war nowadays, I guess.

I love the way it all blends together, as well. It's a very nicely done piece.

I am torn between 3 sigs this week, and I have to say they all have qualities that relate to the topic and make everyone's sig vote-worthy, but the three I can't draw my eyes from are by jigglyness, Lrb and SaiyanPrincessX.

jigglyness - I have to say that your banner catches my attention for all the reasons already listed. Excellent work;

LrB - what a quote. Its so true and really makes you think. No imagery is necessary. Somewhat opposite of what jigglyness has done. Good job;

SaiyanPrincessX - overall a good piece of design work. You might see something like this as a banner for a website. The colours are catching, and I like the text. The silhouette behind the text was a great idea;

There are lots of other things about those 3 sigs that make me want to vote for all three, but that's cheating :P
For simple personal aesthetic reasons, SaiyanPrincessX gets my vote.

Though I think all of them touch nicely into the war theme in some fashion, I like the complete lack of words in jigglyness' piece as it lets the images speak for themselves. So with that in mind, my vote goes to jigglyness.

Jigglyness for sure. It definitely conveys the most feeling without having to use any text at all. You know exactly what it's trying to say, and no further explanation is required.

Gotta go to jigglyness, the the different images used are blended nicely, contrasting well with the others. Any image depicting some kind of emotion seems to be intensified in black and white anyways so that works well, makes the bones of the image easier to see. If that makes any sense o_O
