Voting | Week 007

This is the voting thread for Week 007, where all members of the OtakuBoards community are welcome and encouraged to join and vote for their favorite banner for the week.

Voting will be taking place until Friday November 21st, 2008 @ 5:00 PM GMT. The next SOTW contest will begin shortly after that date.


A few notes before voting

• We encourage you to both vote in the poll and reply with a post stating who you voted for and why. In the post you can let the participant know what you liked, didn't like and in the latter case, how they could improve. For further information, please read the Art Studio Basics thread, on Constructive Criticism.
• Remember, this is a banner contest. Therefor, please do not vote for someone because you like the person so much, but instead vote for someone because you like the banner over the other banners.
• When voting, you're asked to also look at how well the banner fits the theme. This week's themes are Heavenly and/or Lucky. Whose banner do you think resembled these themes the best?

Cat: I like how yours has a very unified color scheme. The only thing that throws me off a bit is the top right corner since its so light that it's almost competing with the center image.

Lrb: I like the concept and the way you hid the face of the person approaching is well played. The only thing I don't care for is the pink text of the word lucky, it just distracts from the black/white/gray aspect of the piece.

SaiyanPrincessX: I think yours is nicely done with the setting textures and overall feel. I am curious about the color of the text though since I'm thinking that perhaps a color closer to white would help it to pop a little.

Anyway, in the end I vote for SaiyanPrincessX. Nice work everyone.

When I think of Heavenly themes, I imagine this sort of blurry, ambiguous imagery with soft colors, and Cat's image captures this very well. The imagery of a tender moment being encapsulated by this imagery is a very strong technique and almost won my vote, but SaiyanPrincessX's design has won my heart with the superior composition. She has also used soft colors and heavenly imagery, and with a very creative composition, SaiyanPrincessX gets my vote.

Just popping in to mention that my banner doesn't represent the Heaven theme whatsoever so judge it based on Luck instead.

Although all of them are nicely done, I think SaiyanPrincessX best represented the aspect they chose to work with, my reasoning is similiar to Rach's so I'm not going to detail it out.

So my vote this round goes to SaiyanPrincessX. Oh and like Rach mentioned, I too think a lighter color for the font on yours would make it pop a little better.

I thank all of you for your input. I didn't really want the text there atall, so that was the reason I made it so light. However, I will try your suggestions. Thank you.
