This thread is about what song you believe has the strongest lyrics out there? Well now I ask the question, Are there any songs out there that make you just think " Whoah thats deep"?

My song would be Broken Home by Papa Roach. It is a song about the lead singer and him dealing wiith his parents divorce and how he felt.

Broken Home
All alone
Broken Home
All Alone

I can't seem to fight these feelings
I'm caught in the middle of this
My wounds are not healing
I'm stuck in between my parents
I wish i had someone to talk to
Someone I could confide in
I just want to know the truth
I just want to know the truth
Want to know the truth

Broken home
All alone

I know my mother loves me
But does my father even care
If I'm sad or angry
You were never ever there
When I needed you
I hope you regret what you did
I think I know the truth
Your father did the same to you
Did the same to you

I'm crying day and night now
What is wrong with me
I cannot fight now
I feel like a weak link
Push it back inside
A weak link

It feels bad to be alone
Crying by yourself
Living in a broken home
How could i tell it
So all you could feel it
Depression strikes hard
Just like my old earth would tell it
To me , her son
She told me I'm the one
Pain bottled up
Bout to blow like a gun
Stories that I tell are nonfiction
And you can take it back cuz it's already done

BROKEN HOME! BROKEN HOME!

Can't seem to fight these feelings
Caught in the middle of this
My wounds are not healing
Stuck in between my parents

BROKEN HOME! BROKEN HOME!

Write down what other ones out there with excellent lyrics.

I guess the 'Deepest' lyrics I've ever heard were from the song 'The Noose' by A Perfect Circle, that song just gets to me every time. His voice is so expressive, you can tell how strongly Maynard feels about the subject, just by listening to it I get these small waves of sad empathy.

So glad to see you well
Overcome and completely silent now
With heaven's help
You cast your demons out
And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you off your cloud
But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about
Making your amends to the dead
To the dead

Recall the deeds as if
They're all someone else's
Atrocious stories
Now you stand reborn before us all
So glad to see you well

And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you to the ground
But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about
Making your amends to the dead
To the dead

With your halo slipping down
Your halo slipping
Your halo slipping down
Your halo slipping down
Your halo slipping down

Your halo slipping down to choke you now

Guest Ring Of Ogam
I have two songs that i think are deep one is give it up by midtown and the other is broken by seether (not the one with amy lee)

GIVE IT UP

This silence kills the calm
Of the night
I force an anxious patience
Counting every beat and waiting for my turn to die

Give it up, Give it up
Don't fall for the same things
Give it up, Give it up
Don't fall for the mistakes that I've made
Don't turn away

I understand your ways
Won't give it up

It's not me you're waiting for
Alright, stop waiting
It's not me you're waiting for
This is where it ends
It's not me you're waiting for
It's time to let go, time to let go
And if you promise to forget
I'll try to find a way to make the same mistakes

And when
You become
All you've lost
Wandering the streets and searching for a place to die

BROKEN

I wanted you to know I love the way you laugh
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain away
I keep your photograph; I know it serves me well
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain

?Cause I?m broken when I?m open
And I don?t feel like I am strong enough
?Cause I?m broken when I?m lonesome
And I don?t feel light when you?re gone away

The worst is over now and we can breathe again
I wanna hold you high, you steal my pain away
There?s so much left to learn, and no one left to fight
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain

?Cause I?m broken when I?m open
And I don?t feel like I am strong enough
?Cause I?m broken when I?m lonesome
And I don?t feel right when you?re gone away

?Cause I?m broken when I?m open
And I don?t feel like I am strong enough
?Cause I?m broken when I?m lonesome
And I don?t feel light when you?re gone away

Damn, Ring stole my one song-Broken by Seether I like the version featuring Amy Lee better than the original acustic version, but both are very good.

I heard the end of Broken a few times on the radio, but i didn't know who sang it or what it was called. Then a few weeks ago I was online with my husband and he mentioned how he had learned to play the bass cords to Broken and how I should learn the lyrics. So I went on Google and typed in Broken-then typed in Amy Lee after Broken gave me too many links that I didn't want.

My favorite part of the song is the second Chorus which goes:

'Cause I'm broken when I'm open
And I don't feel like I am strong enough

'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

It basically sums up how my husband and I feel about eachother (feel free to skip thru this part) sicne we're apart from eachother so much yet we get so much from eachother.

My other choice is leather and Lace sung by Stevie Nicks and Don Henley

It goes like this

Is a love so fragile?
And the heart so hollow
Shatter with words...impossible to follow
You're sayin' I'm fragile...
I try not to be, I search only...
for somethin' I can't see

I have my own life...
and I am stronger than you know
But I carry this feelin'...when you walked into my house
That you won't be walkin' out the door

Still I carry this feelin'...when you walked into my house
That you won't be walkin' out the door

CHORUS:
Lovers forever....face to face
My city or mountains...stay with me stay
I need you to love me...I need you today
Give to me your leather....take from me...my lace

You in the moonlight..with your sleepy eyes
Could you ever love a man like me?
And you were right..when I walked into your house
I knew I'd never want to leave
Sometimes I'm a strong man, sometimes cold and scared
and sometimes I cry......
But that time I saw you...I knew with you to light my nights....
somehow I'd get by

CHORUS
Lovers forever....face to face
My city or mountains...stay with me stay
I need you to love me...I need you today
Give to me your leather....take from me...my lace

Take from me....my lace
Take from me....my lace

One reason I like this one is because I danced to it at my wedding. The other is becuase it's one of the few songs I can get Lincoln to sing with me. Yeah, I'm sentimental

This is a nearly impossible thread to give an answer to singly.

The main song that comes to my mind is The Doors' "The End." I'm sure all of you are familiar with this song (otherwise you must be under a rock).

Whenever I listen to the song, it gets me in a poetic mood. The song is about 10 minutes in length. Originally it was just a ballad of lost love, but then Morrison added the part about the murderer in it, who's basically an Oedipus figure.

There's many other songs I could say. . .but I've got to go to work.

Whoa, Her Black Wings, you read my mind. Well, sort of. I can't give an exact song that really awes me. But I will say that the band that writes the most beautiful lyrics is going to have to be A Perfect Circle.

Now, I' m a big music lover. I've listened to alot of different varieties of music, but A Perfect Circle's music and lyrics just capitvate me.

The poetry in the lyrics is really rare in music these days. I listen to bands like Godsmack, Yellow Card, Gorillaz, Mudvayne, and so on and so forth. A little bit of everything. And all of their lyrics are just words to me. It doesn't seem like the mainstream bands have much intelligence in their lyrics anymore. The music is what I listen to in those bands.

But A Perfect Circle...Maynard's vocals and poetry just demands my attention. I just cannot find anything wrong with them. His voice and the way he sings his lyrics is absolutely beautiful and sexy.

That's all my opinion, though. A Perfect Circle.

Since someone mentioned The Noose, I have to say that song so reminds me of Haibane Renmei O_O

So I'm adding Darkness, by Disturbed (it makes me angst XD and it's rather impressive, since Disturbed doesn't normally do songs like it). And Fiction by Orgy (because it's about how attached people get to fictional idols and that obsession can get out of hand.) I could name a lot more, but won't (like Eva, by Orgy... which is really sad T_T)

"Darkness"

Don't turn away
I pray you've heard
The words I've spoken
Dare to believe
For one last time
Then I'll let the

Darkness cover me
Deny everything
Slowly walk away
To breathe again
On my own

Carry me away
I need your strength
To get me through this
Dare to believe
For one last time
Then I'll let the

Darkness cover me
Deny everything
Slowly walk away
To breathe again
On my own

"Fiction (Dreams In Digital)"

she's lost in coma where it's beautiful
intoxicated from the deep sleep, deep sleep
do you wonder what it's like
living in a permanent imagination?
sleeping to escape reality, but you like it like that

guilty by design
she's nothing more then fiction.
she dreams in digital,
cause it's better then nothing.
now that control is gone,
it seems unreal,
she's dreaming in digital.
she dreams in digital.

and your pixel army can't save you now
my finger's on the kill switch
i remember i used to compose your dreams
control your dreams
and don't be afraid to expose yourself
before i shut you down
you made some changes since the virus caught you sleeping

guilty by design
she's nothing more then fiction.
she dreams in digital,
cause it's better then nothing.
now that control is gone,
it seems unreal,
she's dreaming in digital.
she dreams in digital.

Oh man, by far the most touching song I've ever heard had to be Armageddon -by- Vox. It's about Human life in general and where it's heading. It's a great song, with some really deep-meaning lyrics.

Now some of you may just skim over them...but please, take a minute and read the song. :D

Armageddon -by- Vox
-------------------------
Verse 1:
How many times must we start again,
The creation of the world from beginning to end,
What will it take before we learn?
We gotta wake up now and show some concern...
What will the future hold?
How many untold stories will be told?
Just what will the future bring?
How many species of birds will have a song to sing?
Man 'n' Man can't even get on?
Man 'n' Woman been at war for far too long...
Superior race, all this black 'n' white vision?!
Catholic. Muslim. There's too many religions...
Just too much hatred, too much greed...
Ignorant people pollute the air that we breathe,
We've gotta wake up now before it's much too late,
Hungry people need food on their plate!
People being killed for just a few pence,
Can you justify that? Cause it makes no sense to me,
You're growing up much too fast,
The destruction of mankind - how long will it last?

Verse 2:
Perfect - that's what I'm striving to be,
The next best thing will do for me!
I do my best, you disagree,
Holier - than - thou, holier - than - me!
Commiting crimes with no remorse,
As good as gold now an evil force,
One word description is a dis,
You lick a boy down for his bag of cheese 'n' onion crisp!
And you don't even stop to think,
Whatever happened to the dinosaurs could make us all extinct!

I'm being judged by the clothes that I wear,
We gotta educate those with a grudge to bear!
But I'm content to a certain extent,
You're condemned for life, it's too late to repent...
Innermost beauty, such a terrible waste,
Caught between a rock and a hard place...

Verse 3:
Be judged according to what you've done,
Live this life...the next is a better one!
Eat the fruit from the tree of life,
'Cause if you live by the sword...you'll die by the knife!
How great and wonderful are your days,
How right and true are your ways...
No more death, grief, crying or pain,
'Cause only the good things will remain...
Heed my words 'cause what I'm saying is true,
Treat them exactly as they treated you!
Wipe away the tears from your eyes,
Be proud, lift your head up...reach for the skies!

Verse 4:
Condemned, for what you did to them!
Now see how quick they fall to worship him...
There's a place in my heart that makes me understand,
Prepared and ready like a bride dressed to meet her husband...
Treat life as a learning process,
I said turn right...so you took a sharp left.
Wake up and we'll all sleep peacefully,
The sun shines but it still seems bleak to me!
You tell a lie and convince me it's the truth,
I'm well mannered yet you still call me uncouth,
I believe that there's got to be much more,
I hope I'm ready when death comes knockin' on my door!
Mabye tonight, maybe as I sleep...
It can drive you mad if you think too deep,
But don't have a breakdown 'cause I called you a clown,
You threw a punch 'n' missed I killed you with a kiss!
What on earth will you do then?
The hour of your death, amen.
All the prejudice that I've sustained...
I know it sounds funny but I just can't stand...pain.

Well, I'm back again for a comment. I am sitting here listening to one of the best, if not the best, female vocalists ever: Billy Holiday. The pain she had to endure throughout her entire life is just belted through her syrup-like voice. Such emotion, such a powerful voice, such an amazing woman. If anyone listens to Billy.

All of Me

All of me, why not take all of me?
Can't you see, I'm no good without you
Take my lips, I want to lose them
Take my arms, I'll never use them..

Your good-byes, left me with eyes that cried
How can I go on, dear, without you?
You took the part, that once was my heart
So why not take all of me..

All of me, why not take all of me?
Can't you see, I'm no good without you
Take my lips, I want to lose them
Take my arms, I'll never use them..

Your good-byes left me with eyes that cried
How can I go on, dear, without you?
You took the best, so why not take the rest?
Baby, take all of me...

That song was probably written after her love died.

I love many types of music and this song called "November" by Silverstein is great.

Fragile leaves hit the ground. The cold air drifts into my lungs.I see your face through the fog.Reminds me of the dreams you lost.I can see it in your eyes. You're broken down; your hands are tied.I can feel it in my side.Over and over and over I've tried.I can see it in your eyesYou're broken down; your hands are tied. And I know you cannot hide. Over and over and over I've tried. It broke my heart. It felt so good to see you.I've never been one to put my trust in.When did I become so weak, or have I always been? I can't put all this back in place.(Back in place)I can see it in your eyesYou're broken down; your hands are tied.I can feel it in my side.Over and over and over I've tried.I can see it in your eyesYou're broken down; your hands are tied. And I know you cannot hide. Over and over and over I've tried. This gaping hole in my chest is filled with deceit.I fear that all my cries fell upon deaf ears.I caress flesh with severed nerves. I go veiled in darkness and disease. This November swallows me whole. And this may be the closest thing that you'll ever receive to an apology. I close my eyes and I can see you dead.I close my eyes and I can see you dead.I close my eyes and I can see you dead.I close my eyes and I can see you dead.

Interesting, most interesting.

I have to admit that I don't normally listen to the lyrics of a song, instead I prefer to just appreciate the music though there are certain occasions when the lyrics tend to jump out at you. Strangely enough the most memorable lyrics I?ve heard belong to a Michael Jackson song, yes I happen to be a fan of Jackson?s music though what is does in his spare time is absolutely none of my business. The song is called Human Nature, and is No. 6 on the CD of his Number Ones Album, there?s just sometime both beautiful and relaxing about the lyrics to the song. I don?t have a copy of the lyrics themselves but if anyone has the chance to listen to the song then I?d advise them to, listen to the lyrics he wrote back then, not what he does now.

?If they say why, tell ?em that it?s human nature?

Well, I absolutely am in love with every single song by Amy Lee. ^_^ Those are definitely deep. But one I would say is pretty good is Whisky Lullaby, by Alison Krauss and Brad Paisley. Another good one would be Still Holding Out For You, by SheDaisy. (If you?ll notice, I like country music.)

Whisky Lullaby-
She put him out
Like the burning end of a midnight cigarette
She broke his heart
He spent his whole life trying to forget

We watched him drink his pain away
A little bit at a time
But he never could get drunk enough
To get her off his mind
Until the night

He put the bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
He finally drank away her memory
Life is short
But this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees

We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that says I?ll love her till I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby

La x 7
La x 7
La x 7
La x 7

The rumors flew
But nobody knew
How much she blamed herself
For years and years
She tried to hide the whisky on her breath

She finally drank her pain away
A little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough
To get him off her mind
Until the night

She put the bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees

We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whisky lullaby

La x 7
La x 7

La x 7
La x 7

La x 7
La x 7

La x 7
La x 7

Still Holding Out For You-

Never thought I'd be in this place
It's someone elses life im living
Wish I were living a lie
The hardest part is when the bough breaks
Falling down & then forgiving
I'm choking on the words i didn't get to say
& pray I get the chance one day

I still run
I still swing open the door
I still think you'll be there like before
Doesn't anybody out there know to never come around
some things a heart won't listen to I'm still holding out for you

I can hear ya smile in the dark
I can even feel you breathing
When the daylight chases the ghost
I see your coat & I fall apart
To those hints of you I'm clinging
Nows when I need them most
I should get up, dry my eyes & move ahead
At least that's what he would have said

I still run
I still swing open the door
I still think you'll be there like before
Doesn't anybody out there know to never come around
some things a heart won't listen to I'm still holding out for you

Faithfully, I trace your name while you sleep
It's the only true comfort I feel

I still run
I still swing open the door
I still think you'll be there like before
I still run
I still swing open the door
I still think you'll be there like before
Doesn't everybody out there know to never come around
Some things a heart won't listin to
I'm still holding out for you
Holding out for you

 • 2 months later...
I have a playlist devoted to a certain type of song--I think almost every single one would fit in this thread. I don't listen to a very wide range of music, so most of them were suggested by my friend in his attempt to broaden my musical horizons.

One of my favorite songs is The Spirit Carries On by Dream Theater.

Nicholas:
Where did we come from?
Why are we here?
Where do we go when we die?
What lies beyond
And what lay before?
Is anything certain in life?

They say, "Life is too short,"
"The here and the now"
And "You're only given one shot"
But could there be more,
Have I lived before,
Or could this be all that we've got?

If I died tomorrow
I'd be alright
Because I believe
That after we're gone
The spirit carries on

I used to be frightened of dying
I used to think death was the end
But that was before
I'm not scared anymore
I know that my soul will transcend

I may never find all the answers
I may never understand why
I may never prove
What I know to be true
But I know that I still have to try

If I died tomorrow
I'd be alright
Because I believe
That after we're gone
The spirit carries on

Victoria:
"Move on, be brave
Don't weep at my grave
Because I am no longer here
But please never let
Your memory of me disappear"

Nicholas:
Safe in the light that surrounds me
Free of the fear and the pain
My questioning mind
Has helped me to find
The meaning in my life again
Victoria's real
I finally feel
At peace with the girl in my dreams
And now that I'm here
It's perfectly clear
I found out what all of this means

If I died tomorrow
I'd be alright
Because I believe
That after we're gone
The spirit carries on

It's a really beautiful song, and the lyrics always strike me. The uncertainty at the beginning, and the calm confidence and hope at the end, and you're left wondering whether it's a sad song, or a happy one. I love this song.

something tells me we are gonna be friends,

I think its Bonus Mosh Part II by Taking Back Sunday I really don't like the band but my friend chris gave me the song and i think it says alot.

So, scream I heard about your message,
And how it reeked of your indifference,
It bleeds horizontal straight from your wrist.
(So scream louder now)
I'm bound to come around about
(Bound to come around)
But can?t you, can?t you feel it rolling off your lips,
Tensing up your shoulders,
C?mon say it...

[Chorus]
Well, it's love (It's love)
Make it hurt (I deserve it)
Well, it's love (It's love)
Make it hurt (I deserve it)
Well, it?s love, it?s love, it?s love...
Make it hurt.

I said I use the inconsistencies
That undress the machine,
You're the poster boy, their selling point, the focus for their new campaign.
(Something has to be)
Bound to come around about
(Bound to come around)
Oh, but can?t you, can?t you feel it rolling off your lips,
Tensing up your shoulders, c?mon...

[Chorus]

The keys to the castle
(Are right where I left them)
The princess walked in just to take more attention,
'Cause after all, well isn't that all that I've been after and,
After all, well isn't that all that I'm after,
You're so...

(No way out) I give up in you, well, I give up in you,
(No way out) I give up in you.
(No way out) Well, I give up in you, I give up in you,
(No way out) Well, I give up in you.

I wanted you for nothing more,
Than hating you for what you were,
If that's what you wanted to hear,
(Well, if that's what you wanted to hear)
I wanted you for nothing more,
Than hating you for what you were,
(Don't leave, leave) If that's what you wanted to hear,
(If that's what you wanted to hear)
I wanted you for nothing more,
Than hating you for what you were,
(Don't leave, leave) If that's what you wanted to hear,
(If that's what you wanted to hear)
(It's love, it's love) I wanted you for nothing more,
(Make it hurt, I deserve it) Than hating you for what you were,
(If that's what you wanted to hear)
That's what you wanted to hear,
(To hear) If that's what you wanted to hear.
(If that is how you'll let it burn)

See don't you agree.

I one hundred percent agree with Kane about the "not listening" to the lyrics things. I only care about how the singer's voice sounds coupled with how skilled his band members are. People today are too lyric crazy; fans and the bands. For instance, pretty much every single emo band out there has the same lyrics in the sense that they have these over the top stupid metaphorical phrases in their songs. It would be better if you stopped trying to write poetry and just FREAKIN PLAYED MUSIC!

And my old buddy Jake (THE NAMELESS, who definetly stole my band :smirk:) couldnt have possibely just heard those lyrics by himself, not with the way Shane Told sings. Which brings up another frustration i have: why is it that people have to rush to their lyrics books or websites? Why cant we just accept the song for what it is, without needing to find some hidden meaning in a song or a phrase we can coin and use for ourselves?

I did get netted, however, on one song and ONLY ONE SONG because of the lyrics. BECAUSE THE SONG HAS NO MUSIC. This flogging molly song is just an irish man singing his heart out, solo. Almost made me cry.

"Grace Of God Go I"

Lookin' down through a tide of no return
Is a field where the crops no longer grow
Parched is the land, strangled an' be damned
There for the Grace Of God Go I

Down beside where the riverbed sleeps
Is a man not knowin' what he should feel
Mocked by the wave that beats the waters edge
There for the Grace Of God Go I

If I ever hurt another like thee again
I would drown myself beneath your name
Lost was the child, we all once did hide
There for the Grace Of God Go I

The song that has the most beautiful lyrics to me is Boyz II Men: Water Runs Dry. I love that song because it's talking about a relationship that needs to be saved before it's completley destroyed, here's the first verse and the chorus:

We don't even talk anymore.
We don't even know what we argue about.
We don't even say 'I love you' no more.
'Cause saying how we feel is no longer allowed.
Some people will work things out
And some just don't know how to change.

*Chorus*
Let's don't wait 'til the water runs dry.
We might watch our whole life pass us by.
Let's don't wait 'til the water runs dry.
We'll make the biggest mistake of our lives.
Don't do it baby.

Most beautiful lyrics, you say? Well this is gonna be a hell of a time going through my collection, but two songs that really come to mind are Name by the Goo Goo Dolls and Under The Bridge by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Even if Under The Bridge is about drugs, heh.

Goo Goo Dolls - Name

And even though the moment passed me by
I still can't turn away
'Cause all the dreams you never thought you'd lose
Got tossed along the way
And letters that you never meant to send
Get lost or thrown away

And now we're grown up orphans
That never knew their names
We don't belong to no one
That's a shame
But if you could hide beside me
Maybe for a while
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell 'em your name

And scars are souvenirs you never lose
The past is never far
Did you lose yourself somewhere out there
Did you get to be a star
And don't it make you sad to know that life
Is more than who we are

We grew up way too fast
And now there's nothing to believe
Reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell 'em your name
I won't tell 'em your name
Mmm, mmm, mmm,
I won't tell 'em your name? Ow!

I think about you all the time
But I don't need the same
It's lonely where you are come back down,
And I won't tell 'em your name

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge

Sometimes I feel
Like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel
Like my only friend
Is the city I live in
The city of angels
Lonely as I am
Together we cry
I drive on her streets
'Cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills
'Cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds
And she kisses me windy
I never worry
Now that is a lie
I don't ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
It's hard to believe
That there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe
That I'm all alone
At least I have her love
The city she loves me
Lonely as I am
Together we cry
I don't ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all that way
Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge downtown
I could not get enough
Under the bridge downtown
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge downtown
I gave my life away

Other notable songs are:

A Perfect Circle - Orestes
Finch - Ender
Hoobastank - Escape
Incubus - Aqueous Transmission
Lostprophets - Last Train Home
Lostprophets - Sway
Mudvayne - World So Cold
Pacifier - Run
Slipknot - Vermilion (yeah, yeah. But I find it rather beautiful in a strange way.)
Velvet Revolver - Fall To Pieces

I could ramble for a few more paragraphs but I think this is sufficient, ciao.

Err, this is a hard one. I like a lot of lyrics, but The Show Must Go On by Queen pops in first ^__^;
This could be because it's one of the last songs Freddie Mercury Bulsara sang before he died. The lyrics are just too great.

Queen- The Show Must Go On

Empty spaces - what are we living for
Abandoned places - I guess we know the score
On and on
Does anybody know what we are looking for

Another hero another mindless crime
Behind the curtain in the pantomime
Hold the line
Does anybody want to take it anymore

The show must go on
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on

Whatever happens I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache another failed romance
On and on
Does anybody know what we are living for
I guess I'm learning
I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free

The show must go on
The show must go on - yeah
Ooh inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
Yeah oh oh oh

My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends

The show must go on - yeah
The show must go on
I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in
On with the show

I'll top the bill
I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the
On with the show

The show must go on

oooo my. Queen could arguabley be the best band to ever touch the face of the earth. "The show must go on" is certainly one of their greats, and i especially enjoy the Elton John version, even if the guy is kinda weird.

I assume you mean "Last Train Home" by LostProphets??? That really makes me sad, how ruined and Sold-out overpopular LostProphets is now. America and her retarded thirst for nothing but punk music all of a sudden has completely ruined this talented UK band. No one knew who they were when their first album hit, "THE FAKE SOUND OF PROGRESS." If you came up to someone with one of those retarded black skull shirts thats says "we still kill the old way..." on it and asked them which they liked better, "Kobrakai" or "Ode To Summer," theyd probly do nothing but stutter at you for about two minutes.

It makes me really sad when people say some band is sold out just because so many people listen to them. And then you blame the US on top of it. Damn, I didn't kow it was our fault that some bands suddenly became more popular.... You sound like all the other 'punk' kids over here that think they decide what's punk and what isn't and what's good and what's not...get over yourself.

Oh look, I have to go do something more important.

hm, i didnt know it was make flash judgements on Mike's character day. well for starters im not a punk. I dont place labels on myslef and dress like a member of a social group. I am completely open minded about my music; in fact im the only person i know who owns/ listens to CD's of symphony orchestras and African Tribal music.

So with that aside...

I have never been one to blame things on America. However, The sudden Wave of popularity LostProphets recieved led to them being the kind of band where somoene hears their two singles and goes and buys three T shirts without once thinking "hm, maybe i should listen to them more first..." And i said this is America's fault cus of the oh so wonderful UPSTART BANDS craze going through MTV and FUSE right now. In 2004 with the release of START SOMETHING LostProphets was tossed around everywhere as an "upstart band," which meant everyone played them EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME. THE BAND FORMED IN FREAKING 97 AND RECIEVED UK ACCLAIM ABOUT A YEAR AFTER! They sold out COUNTLESS concerts in the years before they came out with their first album in 2001 (fake sound of progress). And then America decides to call them an upstart band just cus WE have never heard of them???

That, ladies and gentlemen, is the fairy tale of how America ran LostProphets into the ground.

Hi, I'm Megan, and I will be giving my rebuttal tonight. I wasn't saying that you were a 'punk' I just meant that you reminded me of the kids that say they're 'punk' and therefore get to decide what's good and what's not. Sorry you took it that way.

I don't place lables on myself either, I think it's stupid and exspensive..and really hard when you wear a size 16. And I'm open minded about my music too, Broadway musicals share space with Country, death metal, pop punk, head ache punk, Disney sound tracks, movie sound tracks and gasp! Avril Levign!

However, you didn't seem too open minded when you made your statement about how since Lost Prophets came to america they've become 'sell outs'. Why is it that whenever a band (especially a punk band) becomes popular they're sell outs? Ahh! Just shoot me!

I do agree with you about the upstart band thing. I remember buying New Found Glory's THIRD album at Target and it was being called an up and coming band, my husband, his friends and I were all but rolling on the floor laughing about this, but hey $7.00 cd! Good Charlotte and Evenecessence, same thing. Ok, so I didn't hear of Evenecessence until the Dare Devil soundtrack, but I <3 Good Charlotte's first album and East Coast Anthem...which no radio station with the exception of 90.5 (a station to check out if you're ever in Western NYS) ever played.

I don't buy band t-shirts, when I find out a band has other cds that weren't played on the radio I try to find them. Groupies scare me...and I like the CD's name being called Fake Sound of Progress it reminds me of The Atari's first albunm (with a mere five songs) called Look Foward to Failure

But don't blame a whole country for a few stupid people.

Ok...back to the subject.

Another song that has good Lyrics is So Long Astoria by The Ataris

It was the first snow of the season
I can almost see you breathin
In the middle of that empty street

Sometimes I still see myself
In that lonesome bedroom
Playin my guitar
And singing songs of hope
For a better future

Life is
Only
As good as the memories we make
And I?m taking back what belongs to me

Polaroids of classrooms unattended
These relics of remembrence
Are just like shipwrecks
Only theyre gone faster
Than the smell after it rains

Last night while everyone was sleepin
I tripped through my old neighborhood
And resurrected memories from ashes

We said that we would never
We were really just like them
Does rebellion ever make a difference

Life is
Only
As good as the memories we make
And I?m taking back what belongs to me
These relics of remembrence
Are just like shipwrecks
Only theyre gone faster
Than the smell after it rains

So long astoria
I found a map to buried treasure
And even if we come home empty handed
Well still have our stories
Of battle scars, pirate ships and wounded hearts,
Broken bones, and all the best of friendships

And when this hourglass
Has filtered out
Its final grain of sand
I raise my glass to the memories we had
This is my wish
This is my wish
Im takin back
Im takin them all back

Yeah, so I became evil and copied the whole song. Oh well. the reason I like this song...besides the Goonies reference is because the guy sings about looking back on memories with his friend and how he enjoyed them.

Yay! debate and a comment on the subject, I am so on a roll!.

Georege Harrison's "Awaiting On You All"

You don't need no love in
You don't need no bed pan
You don't need a horoscope or a microscope to see the trouble you're in
If you open up your heart
You'll know what I mean
It's been polluted so long
Now here's a way for you to get free

Chorus:
By chanting the names of the Lord you will be free
'Cos the Lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
By chanting the names of the Lord you will see
That the Lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and free

You don't need no passport
You don't need no visas
You don't need to designate or to emigrate
Before you can see Jesus
If you open up your heart
You'll see he's right there
He was all along
And he will take away all your cares

(chorus)

You don't need no church house
You don't need no temple
You don't need no rosary beads
Or them books to read to see that you have fallen
If you open up your heart
You'll know what I mean
We've been kept down so long
Someones thinking we are all green

And the Pope owns 51% of General Motors
And the stock exchange is the only thing he's qualified to quote us
By chanting the name of the Lord then you'll be free
The Lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see

Yeah, George wasn't a Christian, but it's just a great song, sort of poking fun of the Church at the end. It's a message of self faith. The song usually makes me cry. Just the way the lyrics and George's guitar are put together makes me melt. :bawl:

More George coming soon!
