Man, some of you guys have crappy graphics cards. I look at these and I'm like "the textures!!!!!" lol.

Anyway, I hope to be playing more again. My current character is Semjaza Azazel. I went with Necromancer/Monk. I was N/Me, but there were several of those. I'm actually liking how the opposites work together... I wind up with a ton of healing magic, for one.

You can blame that on the damned laptop company! *shakes fist*

I've spent probably 12 hours total in game in the past 2 days. That is a huge step for me. And in these 12 hours, I've come to realize something.

I love Des. Seriously, man, I heart you. You've helped me out a lot in the past couple of days, and have made many (very important) things clear to me. I will gladly push a project aside to grind quests with you.

Right now in game, I've just got my Warrior/Elementalist (Constess Bailem) up to level 6 and my Necromancer/Mesmer (Belial Hades) just got level 12! I'm currently saving up supplies to treat Belial to some hot and strong armor. So, if anyone needs help with quests, I'll go just to get stuff to salvage (because thanks to Des, I am a salvage-holic now).

And you don't need to tell me my graphics card sucks, Tony. I'm quite aware of that, heh. A new one is third on my list for PC upgrades, below a new hard drive and a DVD burner.

As for what you need to play Guild Wars. ... Well, what are the specs for your PC now? Graphics card, RAM, CPU? The game doesn't take much to simply run, though if you want it to look pretty, you'll need a decent system.

I'm runnin' a Toshiba Sattelite A75,
2 x Pentium4 CPU 2.8Gig each
55 gig HardDrive
623mB RAM
128mB Vid-RAM on a Radeon 'Mobility' IGP 9100

My game's on the highest settings, 1280x800 rez, and shadows "off". I've absolutely no gameplay issues unless i'm running DC++ in the background. It's mucho fun. This game's lighter on my system than Morrowind, PSO, or Max Payne (1).

Their posted Specs are

Minimum System Specs:
Windows® XP/2000/ME/98
Intel Pentium® III 800 Mhz or equivalent
256 MB RAM
CD-ROM Drive
2 GB Available HDD Space
ATI Radeon 8500 or GeForce 3 or 4 MX Series Video Card with 32MB of VRAM
16-bit Sound Card
Internet connection
Keyboard and mouse
Recommended System Specs:
Windows® XP/2000/ME/98
Intel Pentium® III 1GHz or equivalent
512 MB RAM
CD-ROM Drive
2 GB Available HDD Space
ATI Radeon 9000 or GeForce 4 Ti Series Video Card with 64MB of VRAM
16-bit Sound Card

Their minimum setting is 800mHz for a processor...that's just beautiful. :animeswea
Oh, I know the minimum specs, I just don't know what the HECK they mean. I just want to know the minimum priced equipment I need to get.
Well, I suggest you go to your local Best Buy, Circuit City, EB Games, Game Stop, or whatever and ask what you need exactly. They should be able to put it in lame man's terms for you.

Yeah, I love Dessy too. He's uber-obsessed with the game and always on. We've had many a good time.

Tony's char is the same classes mine is, that's interesting.

And sorry Tony, but you sound like an elitist bastard by saying how crappy our textures look. Sorry I don't have it up to your specifications. It costs money for stuff like that, you know. Money I and many others don't have.

Here's a pic of my new character. She's a Me/ E.

I'll definitely take the fire rune. I have no runes equipped at all right now and anthing that'd support my skills would be great.

While I'm here I should mention the obvious to guild members - Desbreko has been made an Officer. It just means that he can engage in guild battles and he can add members and all that stuff. Since he's one of our most active members and he is online during different times to me, it means that there will very often be someone online who can help members out, regardless of their time zone.

I may add one or two more Officers later on, depending on the need for it.

Oooh. Belial is a Necro/Mesmer, so would it be possible to snatch that Fast Casting rune? Some of her necro skills take forever to cast (ie Deathly Swarm). I'll have to hit you up in game with that. But just wanted to let you know I'm interested in it. Unless, it requires you have to be primary Mesmer. If that's the case, then 'sokay.

Unfortunately, only Primary professions can utilize runes. Primary Mesmers--Mesmer runes. Primary Monks--Monk runes. Warriors--Warrior runes. And so on.

I nabbed a Major Divine Favor rune during the Riverside Province mission, and I think I still have a Major Hammer Mastery and Major Tactics (both Warrior runes).

I may keep the Divine Favor for myself (Czenzi Ormonde is primary Monk), but if anyone can use any of them, let me know.

Hey,
Yes, I play Guild Wars. I am a Elementalist/Mesmer, or as I like to call it, an Elemesmer. GW has only been out a few months, but it's obvious the most popular classes are Elementalist and Warrior. My name on there is Ryo Escalus, my general game name/alternate/online identity. You guys keep on eye out for me and I'll do the same for you.

I have another screen shot. This is a brand, spanking new character I made earlier today. His name is Lucian Victor, he's Necromancer/Warrior, which really rocks. I'm very pleased with him, and it's fun to play a guy character. You get the girlies giggling for you, then you get some of those guys who are jerks because of that penis envy thing you men have going on..I don't know, but some jack-off led me right into a Grawl ambush. -_- I was really angry, so I just went off on my own; I hope he died many times.

Anyway, here's Lucian (now level 3 Necro/Warrior)

Oh, here's a playful one from the other day. It's of Locky (Warlock) and myself in the Guild Hall...we're dancing. The female warrior does the Uma Thurman dance from Pulp Fiction. And the male warrior does a combo of ballet, John Travolta from Pulp Fiction, and some...pelvic thrusting (as you can see in the picture). It's even more hilarious in game, I can't stop laughing when I see a male warrior dance.

It's funny, because everytime I play GW lately it seems...I'm reminded just why I hate morons and incompetents (yes, I'm actually using the word as a noun). I can never get a PUG (Pick-up group) without an idiot who thinks aggroing that entire group of White Mantle Savants is a good idea. I mean, sometimes, Alesia the Healer Hench is a more appealing alternative--and that's saying a lot when you'd prefer to have Alesia over a human Ranger/Monk.

I don't know why I'm posting this...probably cause I'm pissed in general, eh? Whatever the reason, I'd like to announce that my Necromancer/Warrior, Jade Ashland, hit level 20 a few days ago, and I just nabbed my first post-20 skill point.

AND...Desi, Richard Chambers (Rhadagast, I think?) accompanied me on the Sanctum Cay mission earlier and I'm now exploring the Crystal Desert and holy jebus, it's schway. Level 22 Desert Hydras...all new areas, all new enemies to kill...it's glorious.

I was really surprised with which the relative ease that Desbreko, Warlock and I completed Elona's Reach (one of the Pre-Ascension missions, I think). I'd heard absolutely horrible things about it, but we only attempted about 7 times (come to think of it...I think we nailed it on our 7th try...go lucky 7 if we did) and only spent about 2 or 3 hours on it, if that.

I was expecting hell on earth from whiners in Guild Wars forums...but how they managed to spend 8 hours on the mission is beyond me. A good Necromancer works wonders, for sure.

It was very cool--and a neat experience going all Necro, actually. Before that point, I pretended I was a Warrior. XD

Whee. As of today, Arik is ascended. I did the Thirsty River mission earlier today, and the group I was in got it on the fourth or fifth try. I'd say it was about as hard as Elona Reach, if not a little harder.

I'm glad we had a good party of people who were actually good and knew what they were doing, because the battles got really crazy at times. Especially considering that, unless you take out the priest in the group -- who's guarded by all the other baddies in that group -- within two minutes, all the enemies in the group get revived. And did I mention you have to kill six groups like that, each having about 10-12 baddies each? Yeah. ... There's a reason they practically just give you a 10% morale boost at the start of the mission. You need it.

The time that we finally got it, we pulled through with a crazy comeback. Me and the other monk in the group (who was a Mo/W in Censor's armor, so he could also put out some damage) ended up having to run away after the rest of the group got wiped, until we could regen some life/energy. Then the other guy made a mad dash for the rest of the group while I slapped some healing spells on him, until he could take cover behind this nearby wall. Then I rushed in while everything was still distracted and attacking him, and sat there healing him while he held things off. Then I started rezzing people with Rebirth, teleporting them back behind the cover we were hiding behind, and finally I got the whole group back up and we were able to clear out the rest of the baddies and complete the mission.

As awesome as that mission was, however, the fight with the doppleganger just before ascending really disappointed me. I don't know if it's any better when you're playing a different class, but as a monk, it's just lame. The reason being, they make him do way more damage than you. He still has the same skills as you. ... He just does about 50 damage with normal attacks, while you can do maybe 10. And that forces you have to completely rearrange your skill set to something entirely impractical, which you will never use outside that single battle.

In my case, I took Empathy, Healing Breeze, and a couple near-useless hex spells for him to waste time with. The winning battle plan? Sit there, without attacking, and let him beat on me while I cast Empathy on him and Healing Breeze on myself. And of course, the only reason that worked is because it seems he won't use Healing Breeze. ... Can you see why I say the fight was lame, now? Fighting yourself is a cool concept, but it was executed really poorly in this case.

But now, on a lighter note, I present screen shots of the little foursome that me, James, Warlock, and Mitch had while waiting for Alex to come back so we could do a guild battle. If you ask me, I think it improved our teamwork. ^_~

Funny anecdote about Thirsty River, heh.

I felt like doing one of the pre-Ascension missions last night, so Desbreko and I met in Augury Rock (one of the outposts in Crystal Desert) and decided which to do. Dunes of Despair was easier, he tells me, so I think for a moment then tell him I'd like to do Thirsty River.

And holy hell, the group we nabbed blasted through that mission easier than Gates of Kryta on a good day. It was...insane. We had two primary Necromancers and a secondary. One primary was using Death Magic (Bone Fiends and Putrid Explosion, I think). I was using Blood Magic and Curses.

Our group only had one Warrior, and a handful of Rangers.

We rocked the house. It was so sweet. I really didn't expect us to do that well, but it just goes to show you that you don't need a whole team of just Warriors and Monks to complete missions. In fact...I think Desi here was the only Monk.

It was awesome. =D Just one mission left, then fight my mirror, then Ascension, baby.

Indeed, I was the only monk, except for the warrior being a secondary monk, I think, and he was the only warrior primary. That mission gave me a new appreciation for necros, heh. When I did it the first time, we had two monks, three warriors, and an elementalist I think it was, and it was hard as hell.

Though I should note, we really did need that warrior. He'd draw a lot of the aggro, then I'd slap Healing Seed and Shielding Hands on him, and it would seriously reduce the amount of energy I had to spend on healing. Yay for tanks.

As of, well, a few days ago, Richard has ascended. It's great, the xp boost, but I must say it's nice that the game doesn't end there. I haven't done too much pvp with Rich, but just hunting around and helping people out is a huge part of the game experience.

I've found that giving away my items from the desert is much more rewarding than just salvaging or selling them. I can get as much money as I need in the desert just with henchies. But when I give away stuff, I can see the CG eyes of the newbies light up with excitement when they see the purple text of the axe, or the +9 of the scroll. I kinda got a pay it forward thing going on, only I don't get stabbed at the end of the movie ;-)

Well, I'm just kind of randomly checking in, I guess. Roland, my warrior, is level...10? I haven't played Twang (Ranger) in quite a while, and I'm considering making an Ele/Mo, but the Monk side might just make me want to heal everybody instead of putting the hurt down on the baddies.

Well, that's it. Now I get to talk to a dragon inside of a grain of sand....

Des, yeppers. The Warrior did help a lot. That group was spectacular because everyone knew how to play. It was very schway, indeed. And I'm glad to see you're finally experimenting with Necromancers now. I wonder if that Thirsty River group had anything to do with it? hehe

And Jade ascended a few days ago. I'd agree with Des on the mirror fight, too. Kinda bleh.
