Wow. So do you only read the conservative propaganda?

I think Raiha's past few posts have just proven what I can not prove in one hundred posts. The conservative mind set would have us believe that Barack Obama can not be trusted because of the color of his skin and his father's religion. Is this really where we are in this country? Do we really want to be the people that add to the hysteria of religious persecution? Does someone's father's religion make them untrustworthy?
Okay buddy, since you apparently forgot it's rude to talk about someone in the third person when they're right here in the room I'll just keep it simple.

I do not CARE if Barack was once a Muslim. But if he was and he isn't telling the truth about it then I do care. That's merely a case of honesty, nothing else. And yes. I don't believe in hope. I don't believe in the government "helping" anyone. I don't believe that the government can really "help" anyone either. "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you" is a phrase I really do not like hearing, regardless of who is in office.

I am not white. The color of his skin does not matter to me.

I do care if he is going to take more of the money that I've worked hard for and spend it on people who neither worked as hard as me or know what to do with it.

Excuse me while I go fine a push broom to sweep up the detritus of your massive and sweeping generalizations. The pot calling the kettle black is always an amusing situation. Here's some Ajax. Supply your own elbow grease.

Your entire last post was filled with generalizations about government and is riddled with misinterpretations of.. once again "spreading the wealth". And who are these people that "don't know what to do with money"? Maybe you should read James entire last post again because he nicely sums up my point.

You seem to have the point of view of the entire conservative culture: talk loud enough and use enough big words and maybe people will believe me.

And Barack Obama was NEVER a Muslim. I don't know how many times people need to hear that before they believe it.

Your "opinions" might be taken more seriously if they were based upon factual knowledge and not narrow minded conservative scare tactics.

Everyone is entitled to think what they will. I just think it might be better if you HAD actual opinions and didn't just recite the right's talking points concerning "socialist liberals".

Crimson Spider and I had a very extensive debate regarding both candidates health care policies in the "Debates for '08" thread. That is a viable subject in which to dislike a candidate, not accusations of a candidate's religion or childish name calling: "socialist". Your anger is exceeding your common sense.

Either way Katakidoushi, Raiha is entitled to have her opinion and I believe calling other people's opinions less worthy whether they base it on fact or not is rather childish. It seems that anyone with the title of conservative is frowned upon these days when I feel that liberals are also under the hot seat for what's going on. Just because the war in Iraq is still continuing on right now and the economy is in dire straits does not mean we can point fingers in either direction. While the Republicans do fillibuster any sort of legislation that might work against their views of how the Iraq war should be handled, the Dems are just as much to blame for doing the same thing. Need I remind you that it's one country, with one government and the hating on conservatives needs to stop. The same goes for liberals. We're one government and hating on the left wing or the right isn't gonna solve our countries problems. So both of you need to simmer down in that respect.

This is where I take issue with bringing up that Raiha hates Barack Obama or the fact he's Muslim. I don't see any sort of hate against Obama or convservative scare tactics. I want to see what thin air you're pulling this from. Seems like a stretch to me.

Breakdown: Your opinions aren't any more valid when you take the time to slander someone else's opinion and do not yourself provide any evidence to make your opinion seem more worth it. So if you're gonna call someone on not providing evidence to back up their opinions, then don't go and state your opinion to refute their personal beliefs and call their views childish or scare tactics. Basically, treat people the way you want to be treated.

You're still not grasping what my message was in my post. I'll edit this tomorrow when I have more time to elaborate on this. Also, I'm confused with the statement I bolded. I know I said I personally was ashamed to be Californian. Can you quote the part in my post where I told everyone is to feel ashamed like you said I did?
I referred to the wrong part of your post, I was thinking of this part here:
I find it truly hypocritical of Californians (and Floridians for that matter) to elect a preacher of change yet in the same breath vote against it.
Sorry for the confusion. I hope that clears up what I was trying to say.
The "spread the wealth" thing essentially seems to relate to the prospect of increasing taxes on higher income earners and lowering taxes on the middle class.
My understanding, based on what I've looked up and read is that some of this so called tax increase will be to merely allow the tax breaks that were set during the Bush administration to expire like they are supposed to. So yes they will be paying more taxes. They'll be paying what they use to before the tax cut that was never meant to be permanent to begin with.

I never said Raiha "hates Barack Obama". And as far as evidence to "state my opinion": I have not been the one making outlandish claims about another person. I have simply tried to set the record straight regarding the truth about an individual. I have made no claims that require evidence to back them up. I do have a problem with someone's opinions when they are not based on anything relative. I have no problem with someone sharing a different opinion than me, but it should be an informed opinion. Haven't we had enough of people spreading the hate? I'm not referring to Raiha neccesarily, but people in general.

I do not see how this is trolling. I have not brought up any slanderous material about anyone else. My enitire stance from the beginning has been to defend someone who is having slander thrown against them.

I agree with you that the liberals are not innocent either, and if they started making accusations towards someone I supported I would take a stance against them as well. I'm not a Democrat or a Republican, or even an Independent; I disagree with all of them too often to lump myself in with them.

I'm not attacking conservativism. I'm taking a stance against the personal attacks made against Barack Obama. I hope now we can move on from this point and discuss more relative matters.
Basically treat people how you want to be treated
Indeed. Many of us should take this life lesson.

Right, because that's flaming. Trolling is posting in order to get a rise, reaction, or some form of response from the target.

Incidentally, I'd suggest Raiha put a sock in it also. So far as I've seen, ain't nobody innocent on the trolling count; there's a large difference in putting your opinion out in the open and putting it up so people will get mad at it.

And here I thought the "OMG ARMAGEDDON" deal was moronic enough. But no. We have to go back to the old, tired, worn out, POINTLESS "conservatives versus liberals" crap again.

SHUT.

Could've fooled me. Almost seems as if every time she appears in a thread to state an opinion, you're there to call her out.

Let's break this down so you can see my point. I'll use your posts as reference.
Your "opinions" might be taken more seriously if they were based upon factual knowledge and not narrow minded conservative scare tactics.
This is in direct reference to Raiha, not a collective. This is rude, offensive and just an attempt to tell someone their opinions don't matter because they don't agree with yours or suit your tastes. Your mental colleague, Crimson Spider, was certainly guilty of this point as well.

Everyone is entitled to think what they will. I just think it might be better if you HAD actual opinions [/B']and didn't just recite the right's talking points concerning "socialist liberals".
Breakdown: Had actual opinions? Lol? Last time I checked, any opinion is an actual one. A fictional opinion only appears in..welll..fiction, last time I checked.

I do have a problem with someone's opinions when they are not based on anything relative.
Breakdown: Again...lol? She was defending herself from something you initially said. I find that relative. She expressed her views and defended them when she shouldn't really have to. She based her opinions on something relative to the topic. She said she doesn't trust the government saying they'd come in and help her. End of story. To provide more proof...
I do not CARE if Barack was once a Muslim. But if he was and he isn't telling the truth about it then I do care. That's merely a case of honesty, nothing else. And yes. Now I'm gonna tell anyone involved in this petty affair to put a lid on it, because it seems pointless to argue on something neither side is gonna budge on. If you don't like it Kataki, then that's too bad. She has her opinions and you're not the judge on whether her opinions are valid or not. So quit it.

Now everyone just please shut up, kthx.
Actually there isn't a disagreement. I just happen to believe that once they write a good proposition that handles the subject of homosexual partnerships without managing to stifle/offend/etcetcetc heterosexual partnerships I'll be happy to support it with my vote.
Yes, it's been ten days but what they hell:

.

Sorry, but I don't see the big deal about it. Legalizing gay marriage isn't going to kill anyone. At least not out right. I mean yeah a few peple down in Arkansas (where they also passed a ban on single people adopting children- but hey it IS Arkansas) might keel over from heart attacks. But seriously how is a little gay marriage stifling or offending your little hetero partnership. Connecticut decided to allow same sex marriages and the world din't come crashing to a halt. Heck Canada allows same sex marriages and they also have one of the lowest crime rates in the world and a conservative Prime Minister along with a conservative parliment. No one has suffered irreversible damage from a same sex marriage.

If anyone is being stifled right now it's homosexuals. They can't expect to have the same civil liberties as everyone else because certain members of society are offended by it. In my humble opinion a constitutional ban on gay marriage is UNconstitutional and it retards our country's growth.

Just to take a break from the heavy discussions that have been going on in here, has anyone seen any of these TV ads for Obama commemorative plates and coins?

I'm surprised the kitsch-selling has started so quickly. I saw the first ad only a couple of days after the election.

But yeah. Us Americans, we just love buyin' and sellin' our useless crap, don't we? (Although, granted, I'd rather see Barack on my plate staring back at me than John. :p Man looks like he's got a cyst in his jaw.)

Yeah I know Rach.

Now if it was a dart board with either Bush or Cheney's face on it (or maybe something cool and interchangable like that) I'd be all over something like that.

OKay totally off topic, one of my closest friends voted for the old man and the moose killer! Albany has finally warped her mind! But I still wuv her.

You know you can probably make your own. My brother did because someone from the NYS GOP sent my grandma (who has been dead for like two years) a picture of G.W. Bush to remind her to vote (because you know as well as I do that dead people vote) and my brother took the picture and taped it to his dart board. Worked out pretty good actually
