What’s your favourite type of sock?

What’s your favourite sock is a 2001 thread created in the ashes of OtakuBoards Version 2 and the formative days of V3 of the boards history. The discussion revolved around socks, and members’ preferences for sock types. Some members perferred fluffy socks, while others preferred thinner types. Master O Beans only liked the ones with the red stripes at the top because they are “good for burning.”

The “What’s your favourite type of sock?” thread was created as a joke; it spawned from comments made by James and Safer Sephiroth in the thread Im Cute, Im Hot. Lamenting the current state of General Discussion and the overwhelming number of “what’s your favorite” threads.  The staff members noted that “on the bright side, we have yet to have a favourite type of sock thread.” Final_Flash, then a staff member as well seized the opportunity to tease James and Safer by creating the (in)famous thread.

The thread lives on in infamy after being resurrected in later years to demonstrate how far OtakuBoards’ has evolved in terms of post quality and as a defense against letting favourites threads back inside the rules. The popluarity of the socks thread has waned in recent years, however OtakuBoards has relaxed its rules and allows some [thought provoking] favourites threads to exist in the lounge. OtakuBoards refined direction has rendered threads like the “socks thread” obsolete for the most part.
