The Daily Otaku (2004)

OtakuBoards: The DailyOtaku [PG] was one of the more successful OtakuBoards fan fictions written by the Desbreko in January 2004. What made it so unique was that it was written from the perspective of a real newspaper reporting on unexpected events happening at OtakuBoards. As it so aptly put it: “It’s what you don’t need to know.” While Desbreko was around to see the original The Daily Otaku by Stardust, he actually based the idea on some tabloid cover mock-ups that Charles had posted on his myOtaku page.

Not only was it wonderfully funny, but it was also well-received among the community. Just to be included in one of the articles was regarded as a treat for members. The success of this work even went on to eventually inspire one of the members to created a fanclub for Desbreko:

Aaryanna:
I think I’m going to start a We Love Desbreko Fan Club!

Both The DailyOtaku and the Desbreko FanClub remain unfinished to this day.
