MAMA

MAMA, or Members Against Moderators and Administrators, was a group of dissenting older members who got together out of a mutual understanding that the post quality of OtakuBoards was in a decline.

MAMA was initially formed by JJ as a secretive group, a bit like the [Exclusive Brethren Church.] It was, however, exposed by some of its members in the post-quality themed Suggestions and Feedback thread, “The Complaint” much to the chagrin of its more secretive members.

OtakuBoards members participating in “The Complaint ” discussion were perplexed in regards to how a group like MAMA could be advocating a return to quality when it was taking potshots at the staff.  Additionally, the very notion that quality posting on OtakuBoards had slipped at all was disputed. In reailty, MAMA mostly seemed to target newer, younger moderators and their perceived inability to be online as often as they should be or enforce the rules as stricly as they should. MAMA regarded some of these newer moderators, actually listed in the initial post of the thread, as being inferior to the moderators of old. (See old members: Safer Sephiroth, Babygirl, GinnyLyn)  Members of MAMA thought that since they had been members of the forums for a long time, they were owed first dibs to occupy open moderator positions.

Eventually “The Complaint” was closed and MAMA died off afterward.

di.fm, the original poster in “The Complaint” (then going by the name of AC!D!C), believes to this day that his actions “saved the boards from Armageddon”.
