Teh Silly Circus

It all started on Thursday January 22, 2004 on 21:32:41 Pacific time. At this exact time and date, the most memorable OtakuBoards chat in the history of OtakuBoards chats was spawned–Teh Silly Circus.  Teh Silly Circus lasted until January 31, 2004 at 20:54:24 Pacific time.  Japan_86, a bored Otakuboards member, saw many of her friends online on AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) and since OB chats were very popular at that point and time, Japan_86 decided to make one of these chatrooms herself. 

The notoriety of this particular chat does not lie in its insanity, for all OtakuBoards chats were rife with nonsense.  What stood out about Teh Silly Circus was its lifespan, its utter refusal to die.  Several people kept Teh Silly Circus alive through their devotion and steady Internet connections. After Japan_86 randomly popped into the chat the next evening and found that it was still alive, she had the crazy idea to try to keep the chat going for a week or more and be the longest OB chat in existence. Desbreko and Shy, in particular, greatly contributed to the chat’s abnormal lifespan. Approximately eighty people, in which forty-eight were members of Otakuboards, ended up participating in one of the strangest events in Otakuboards history.
