Final Flash

Connor aka Final Flash was a staff member on OtakuBoards from 2002 to 2004.   He is often characterized by his spriting work, RPGs and sense of humor (see “What’s your favourite type of sock?”).

Final Flash registered during the twilight days of the UBB-based OtakuBoards Version 2.  Flash quickly rose to prominence as an exemplary member of OtakuBoards; his RPG “DragonBall-Battlefield: End of the Universe” enjoyed critical success.  By Version 4, Final Flash had joined the staff as a moderator for the Games/RPGs forum alongside seasoned moderators RicoTranzrig and Warlock.   When kuja was banned from OtakuBoards, (for more information see Notable members: kuja) Final Flash celebrated by created an avatar showing kuja’s unsername in the background, with the status of “Banned,” and a sprite in the foreground pumping his fists into the air in celebration.  Panning kuja would set the tone for Flash’s standout sense of humor.

When Version 5 launched, Flash was also assigned to the Final Fantasy forum, with Break (then ShadowGohan) and Zeh (then Cloud).

Final Flash eventually became the Category Moderator of The Arena, and as a result, the area took on a whole new lease on life. It was around this time that Flash created the Maverick Hunters RPG, which was one of the highest-quality RPG’s of it’s time, and raised the bar of quality in the Adventure Arena significantly. In fact, James liked the story so much, he would go on to pen two sequels to it–one of which would invole the Flash himself.

Flash would hold on to his Category Moderator status until August 2003 when he retired from his position and disappeared due to the demands of a busy social life and a part-time job.  Later, in 2004, Flash made an unexpected comeback to the forum, registering a myOtaku account and posting in several threads. The Daily Otaku of the day recorded reports of topics that had been “Flashed.” Many members though the Flashster was back to stay.

However, Flash soon disappeared again, rarely to be heard from since. He left behind an OtakuBoards roleplaying section that was all the more richer and matured for having known him.

Final Flash was named after Vegeta’s “Final Flash” move in DragonBall Z, though it is safe to say he made the name his own.
