That's a slightly surprising reaction. I liked Yuka at first, but as the show went on, she started to annoy me more and more. Although I can't say I ever really hated her. Still, it's interesting that you saw through her (so to speak) from the very beginning.
I don't see why that's surprising.
First, she complains about Kouta forgetting about his early childhood promise that he'd come and see her in a year. Fine, she's emotional and a little unreasonable. However, Kouta explains himself, and he has one of the most legit reasons possible for forgetting... huge personal tragedy. He had to go through all this crap almost right after she left. First his dad died, then his sister got sick and died shortly thereafter. Its no wonder that the memory of those events "override" the memory of some seemingly insignificant promise. I'm also guessing that there's something wrong with his memory (with his reaction to Nyu when he first met her), but I don't know that for a fact yet. However, rather than completely acknowledge her selfishness and doing something about it, she continues to feel sorry for herself. Sure she thought about her selfishness, but that's only step one, and nowhere near fixing it. Further more, she felt really jealous about Kouta taking care of Nyu, a girl that appears to be completely like a child, unknowing of speech or of how things around her work. Common sense tells you that a child (especially one that looks old enough to take care of herself) isn't going to survive in the world. (And that goes double when you consider that they live around biker gangs.) Again, she acknowledged that she really shouldn't be jealous of Kouta's kindness, but she didn't take any steps to fix the problem. If you don't do something about your problems, you might as well have never noticed them at all. Same end result, right?
If those two things alone aren't huge signs of selfishness, I don't know what is. (though from your comments, I gather that it only gets worse)
Just picked up vol.1 and the collectors box earlier today, i had it preordered at a local Suncoast and got it for $29.99 and i had a little $5 off coupon thing so i got it for $25 all together. For something from ADV im slightly unimpressed with the whole package. The artwork is mostly pretty plain on the box and dvd case, just a bunch of smatherings of blood and a couple pictures of Lucy/Nyuu. Not much in the way of extras on the dvd either, But i guess i can't complain... the series itself isn't hindered in any why by stuff like that. I still prefer Geneon's releases, they tend to put a lot more effort into the artwork on the boxes and cases as well as the DVD menus.
*drip* *drip* *drip* *splat* *squish squish* Yeah, that menu sucked.

I rented volume one through netflix, and I just watched it. Some notes: -Its going to be hard to stop calling it Elfen "Lied". Elfen "Leed", huh... -This show's soundtrack is even more depressing than .hack//SIGN's. -The first five minutes was one hell of a bloodbath! :) -Say hello to the world's weirdest harem... -I'm indifferent to Kouta. He seems like a paint-by-numbers character so far. -I think that Yuka might just earn herself a place in my elite "anime characters that I want to be beat the crap out of" list if she doesn't change between now and the end of the series. Selfish b*tch. -Am I the only one that laughed when that commando guy backhanded that girl for walking up behind him? -Speaking of the commando guy, I knew right when I saw him
that he was going to get it bad. The stuck-up asshole usually does.
-Also speaking of the commando guy,
something tells me that he'll be back to cause trouble for Kouta and Nyu.
-Nana already seems like a fairly cool character.
I'd be willing to bet that things wouldn't have turned out so badly if Miyu hadn't decided to run in between her and Lucy.
-The doc that had been running experiments on Nana wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be. And this is why you don't believe fan-made comics... -This is the first anime that I've rented from Netflix that I actually intend to buy. Awesome stuff. I've got some notes on Lucy/Nyu too, but she's going to be up before long in my Best Anime Girl Tournament, so I'll save my comments on her until then so that I don't feel like a broken record. And you know that fan-made comic that I just mentioned? Pretty funny stuff. Not exactly accurate, but still funny. (BTW, that italic underlined blue text is a clickable link, in case you couldn't figure that out.)
Ah but she is ignorent not stupid. you just contridicted yourself in saying she is stupid for stupidity is not ignorence. Such as i like her because she reminds me of my sister who is fourteen, they both act dumb but in all reality they are ignorent. there lays the problem. Kagome is not stupid therefore she is ignorentley young and unsure of herself. so as my family says "Salicam a salom." or love is ignorent. just a hint of how i feel about kagome and inyasha
Ignorance is not knowing. Her own stupidity is the only thing that could prevent her from knowing Inuyasha's feelings for her, what with Inuyasha looking out for her like he does and having those deep emotional conversations with her. As it is though, that's irrelevant, because she does know but chooses not to act. Just for the record, I think that the word that you're looking for with your 14 year old sister is naive. Its a mixture of lacking experience and understanding of the world.
now i want you to open your eyes.. now that they are open. I just like kagome better than Sango. She is more interesting to me. she doesnt seem to be as stupud as you think so mabey you will want to look at her one more time before you insult me.
A quote from you:
Kagome knows but doesnt know that inuyasha loves her until later on.
That's what you said. One of the reasons why you like her is because she's too stupid to figure out that Inuyasha likes her. And when you don't know something, you're ignorant. BTW, Kagome definitely knows that Inuyasha likes her. You know how she refers to him as her boyfriend? Yeah. That speaks for itself. And she started doing that 50+ episodes ago.
I just tthink that kagome is a better character. I know that Sango has more fight in her and can do more things, but kagome has this spirit in her that just is dieing to come out. Her getting captured is what makes her even more fasinating because of the chance of inuyasha rescueing her. i just like kagome better thats all. Kagome knows but doesnt know that inuyasha loves her until later on. Kouga is just there to make inyasha mad. She has her ways and so does Sango.:p
So her helplesness, her stupidity, and her ignorance as a result is what makes you like her? Those aren't good traits.

Damn, now I feel stupid. :animestun Weird that they would use the wording "new season". But the dates match when they decided to move every show up aways to include something from the comedy block. Well, it wouldn't be the first time that they screwed up. I've corrected them with calling the shikon jewel the "Jewel of Four Seasons" on press announcements a few times. In that case, I imagine that we'll be seeing new episodes sometime during the August-October-November time frame.
i can think of two. anzu(tea) from yugioh, the woman does nothing but spout speeches through out the whole damn series. the other would be relena peacecraft. gods, i cant stand this girl. all she does through out the tv series is stalk hiro(heero). why didnt you make good on your promise of killing her?
Useless characters are often disliked, but disliked =/= useless. To quote myself:
Relena Peacecraft moved along half of the major plot points in Gundam Wing! She was responsible for just about every movement towards peace in the series! That's definitely not a character without a purpose!
And I don't see any reason to change my view. As for Tea, she was the one that got Yugi back on his feet after he lost to Kaiba and, along with Tristan and Joey, helped block Yugi's mind from Pegasus. She also had a role to play with the Big Four. Tea isn't uselss.

They stopped so that Funimation Studios could complete the dub. I looked for information regarding when it would start up again, and this was the only thing that I could find: Animated series Fullmetal Alchemist returns with a new season beginning Saturday, Feb. 12, at 11:30 p.m. (ET, PT). The 30-minute action-adventure series from Japan tells the story of two brothers who have mastered the art of alchemy, though at considerable personal cost. Edward lost his leg, and Alphonse lost his entire body. But Edward is able to enclose Alphonse?s soul inside a suit of armor but at the cost of his right arm. Equipped with a replacement mechanical arm and leg, and a near mastery of alchemy, the brothers set forth on an adventurous quest to find the fabled Philosopher?s Stone to restore their bodies to their natural state. source I seriously hope that the new season gets pulled back a few months. I don't want to wait 10 months for new episodes! It almost seems like they're waiting for the DVDs to catch up. Looking at how long it takes Ocean to dub Inuyasha episodes, it shouldn't take 6-8 months to dub 25 episodes.
:animeswea :animeswea Maybe it was Mihoshi...oh well...I never like Ayeka anyway...nope, I haven't seen the Tenchi OVA...what the heck is in oVA anyway :animeswea
OVA: Original Video Anime. As Dagger said, its a direct-to-video release. They don't usually air on cable in Japan, nor do they hit the movie theaters. For the most part, they're short 2-6 episode stories. FLCL, Gatekeepers 21, and the Read or Die "movie" that AS aired are a few OVAs that you might be familiar with. The Tenchi OVAs are each 6 episodes long, and they've released 2 of them here. The third one is going to be released in June. You might as well count the all as one series though, since they all take place one right after the other. Anyways... Since there's a tie here, I look to how many posters sided with Ayeka and how many posters sided with Kaola. Ayeka: 2 Kaola: 3 Here is your winner... Kaola Su! *sigh* One of my favorites falls to one of two characters on the bracket that's on my list of "beat the crap of them if they were real" anime characters. (the other being Anita... but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it) I never got why so many people hate Ayeka. She's a little childish around Ryoko and she has an annoying VA, but I can't see why that alone would gather such a large anti-fanbase. Really, aside from what I just mentioned, she doesn't have any stand-out negative features...

You'd be less hard pressed to find a true Kagome fan than you might think. Check around the Adult Swim or Game FAQ boards. You won't find a lot of them, but they're definitely there. Of course, most of them use the exact same easily countered arguments to support Kagome. "Kagome's nice!" Too nice. She drags her friends into danger for complete strangers on the regular basis, sometimes without their aproval. "She has a sparkling arrow!" Plenty of anime characters have sparkling weapons. Only Sango has a giant boomerang. I have yet to hear anyone name off another character that uses Sango's weapon. "She keeps Inuyasha in check, but she's still loyal to him!" Loyal enough to tease Koga and side with Koga every time that he and Inuyasha get into an argument. What a great girlfriend you are, Kagome! I'd be feeling a bit insecure too if my girlfriend was always being overly nice to another guy and giving him the snacks that she had brought for me. "She wears a schoolgirl outfit!" Again, lots of anime girls do, and plenty pull it off better than she does. See the Sailor Warriors, for instance. Sure, they call them sailor uniforms, but they look almost identical to schoolgirl uniforms. That's the start of the aforementioned list.
I think kagome is the best because the story is about her and inuyasha. Kagome is a better character because you see her more throught the series and in the mangas. Sangos love interest is not as vibrent as kagomes. you just want to see kagome with you know who. :catgirl: I like sango but i like kagome mush better. :animesmil
Hardly sooner said than done. Since when does the love story alone define the character? There might have been more time spent developing Inuyasha's love triangle than the Sango/Miroku relationship, but despite that, Sango is still generally more capable than Kagome and is definitely less of a hassel to the group. Did I mention that I'm one of those oddballs that supports InuyashaXSango and MirokuXKagome? I've always thought those interactions were more interesting. Also, have you noticed that Richard Cox (the guy that voices Inuyasha) sounds so much more passionate when he yells "Sango" than when he yells "Kagome"? I was noticing that when they fought that last moth demon... Even Cox knows that Sango's better.

Piros from the .hack games! "Hark! He of Fair Eyes! Join me in adventure!" That guy annoyed me to no ends. If I met someone that talked like that and he started following me around, the next 24 hours of his life would be Hell on Earth.

You know who's really pointless? That spikey haired kid that's always following Murai around in GTO. He almost literally plays no role in any plot progression major or minor. He's just there. Always there. Watching. Waiting. Planning. Only to realize that Onizuka would kick his *** if he tried anything. And that Urumi and Kikuchi would get him if Onizuka didn't. That's why he always kept his mouth shut. Now you know.
-
Sango also probably has the largest fanbase of any Inuyasha character, next to Sesshomaru. And rightfully so, I think. Everybody likes the kick *** chick. That's a large part of where Asuka and Faye got their fanbases. And while Sango isn't quite as developed as either of those two, she's still a cool character through and through. And here I was, expecting to counter three or four lame arguments as to why Kagome is a better character than Sango. But I guess that Thursday isn't up yet. I'm sure that somebody will try to argue in Kagome's favor between now and then.

Interesting note considering diets... scientific studies have been done that reveal that people on diets tend to have a habbit of gorging of themselves if they get off their diet even a little bit. Having a mom that tried to diet before, I can believe it. "Oh well. I'm already passed my carb count, so what do you say we go out and get some pasta?" God knows how many times I've heard statements like that. Why? The way that the studies described it, people that aren't dieting eat when they're hungry and stop when they're full. When you start dieting, the statistics take over and the stomach is set on the wayside. When they pass the limit, their mind says "screw it" and they eat until they feel like their about to explode.

I've got that Eye-Toy ordered (lots of the reviews said that its a good work out), and I'm going back to restricting myself to two sodas a day. Yeah, I'm a little addicted. I'll ease off the caffeine. I might get a job this Tuesday (the assistant manager told me that I have a really good chance), and once a pick up a barbell, I'm going to try to start an arm and shoulders... chest and back... legs routine. (arms first day, chest second day, legs, third day, start over the next, use Sunday to recover)
For me... I got DDR and I play it everyday until the workout mode says I ran 6 miles. A lot of people think it doesn't count as excercise or something, but that's really a bunch of BS. It works out your legs and stomach a lot and by the time you've done an hour of Heavy mode songs, you'll be sweatin'. In other words...I look good in a bikini now.
There's an idea. I've been looking for an excuse to try out the Eye-Toy.

I remember a few years ago. My mind was usually clear, I could run at least a straight mile without getting too winded, and despite the fact that my muscles were neither neither very big nor very firm, I was still stronger than most average people my age. I'm just now really beginning to see the effect of my lifestyle for the better part of the past three years. My mind has become dull recently, to the point where I can't really hold my own in a serious argument anymore. My stamina sucks. I can't run a full mile without throwing up. And while I'm not weak, I'm not able to slam my friend anymore when we wrestle, and I'd be willing to bet that he hasn't gained more than 10 pounds since I was able to. And while I'm still not really fat yet, I'm starting to get a little chubby. Further more, I've got a few events coming up that I'm going to need to get in shape for if I don't want to be downright miserable. Namely, the make up for the scuba-diving (I couldn't equalize), our next trip to Yosimite, and sight-seeing in Japan. I suppose that this post alone is a somewhat of a reminder and motivator by itself. Actually, I picked up those weights that I have sitting under my table and curled 20 pounds 30 times for each arm, did 20 of those tricept curl things with 15 pounds (I don't even know what they're called), and then went and did 20 push-ups right when I thought of making this thread. Yeah, shut up. I told you that I'm out of shape. Anyways, I'm sure that you know what I'm about to ask. To those of you that feel obligated to stay in shape, and do so, what routines do you use? How did you get yourself started? How did you stay motivated?

Hideaki Anno's anime resume That's a link.

I hated that added scene in the director's cuts right before
Asuka looses it
where it just kept on repeating the same scenes over and over again. Just to create to a bit of conversation... who wants to see Hideaki Anno direct another anime? The guy's off his rocker. It would be interesting to see what else the he could make.

Could they have thought of a gayer name than the "Xbox 360"? So what, the Xbox is going to wait long enough to turn around in a full circle before progressing? And what about the design? That doesn't look slick at all! It looks like a DVD player! And if you think that's bad... So not only is it called the "Xbox 360", its going for some space crap look? Ugh. The people that came up with this design need to be shot! Are they really that out of ideas that they need to resort to this? I'm probably still going to get it eventually, but its going to look pretty stupid sitting in my room if they decide to keep it looking like this. Here's hoping that they unveil something different at E3.

Wasn't she unarmed most of those times? She sometimes finds a new bow lying on the ground. But yeah, she draws Inuyasha and company into more trouble than she's worth. Sure she's helped out a few times, but she's forced Inuyasha to put himself in danger to help complete strangers on more than one occassion.
