*razzes Baron* I'm going to answer most of your comments by saying that it's just her stance. I mostly think the shoes look okay. They are a little off, but my problems is with some of my coloring. To me, they look fine in my sketch, sooo... Oh well, heh. And...*flips through sketches*...most of my characters have round faces. I guess it's just how I draw. I think they're cute, heh. I actually did two pictures yesterday/early this morning (I couldn't sleep.) So, here's the second. This is a girl I drew earlier in December. My entire reason for drawing her was that I wanted a a picture of a girl with a scarf, heh. Her outfit was originally pink, purple, and bright blue...but when I decided to recolor it, I had had quite enough of those colors with the Biyomon picture. Since I drew her, I'd been referring to her as "Winter Chika," but the orange and yellow make her more autumnal, really.
  6. Learning to make pastels look right takes time. I've given up and now call my pastel pictures "stylized." It's much more fun, heh. About the cross-eyed thing. Heh. You said you mostly draw Dragonball characters...they're all cross-eyed, anyway. Heh. If you're really getting frustrated with things not looking right, I suggest copying something exactly. Try drawing your character (on different pieces of paper, don't erase too much) until you get it right. By then, you'll know how everything looks, and you won't need a reference to get things right--you'll know it. Personally, I've found the colored pencils work the best for just coloring. You can shade easily with them, and don't have to worry about smudging.

*laughs softly* I was just going to comment, but Manic said it first. Poor Charlie, heh. I was at the bookstore the other day, and they had a giant Peanuts book. It was very nifty, heh. I love Snoopy. He has a typewriter, for crying out loud. How can you not love him?
  8.
Originally posted by Spikey I liked it back in the day, when spamming, and flmaing was rare.
*laughs* When was this? Honestly, though, Piro's right. What we consider spam is different now, heh. I cringe to go back and look at my old posts. They're horrible. But that was just...normal. I guess. As a whole, I like OtakuBoards now. I'll always be fond of v2, if only because those few months were when I first settled in and really got to know some great people. (And some of whom I haven't had contact with in a long time, which is too bad.) It was just a lot of fun for me.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I think that's possibly the cleanest, smoothest looking drawing I've ever seen from you. It makes it look more professional, I think. The shoes seem a bit off, but I love it otherwise. Nice work.
*blinks* Eh, the shoes do look off. Oh, well. (They looked fine earlier, I swear!) And then these are just some fun I had with the layers I used whilst coloring. :whoops:
  10. Whee, I really like this picture. This is a semi-original characters. I drew her...then decided she should be colored to look like a digimon. (Biyomon, a little pink bird.) You used to see a lot of these--digimon drawn as humans. I think they were called Gijinka. So, yes. The coloring style was a ton of fun. It was inspired by Dagger, in an odd sort of way, heh. So....yes.
  11. Who's the pretty glowing girl in your banner? I like the image.
  12. Heheh, nifty. It looks very stylized. The bold lines and soft coloring have quite an effect.
  13. I've deleted your other thread. Careful not to do that again, please.
  14. I'm really enjoying not having to do anything right now. It's very relaxing and whatnot. Especially with how stressful (or just plain busy) school has been for me lately, vacation is like unto heaven.

I think the latter sounds funny but if it actually comes out, it won't be until 2009-ish. *perks up* Really? Hm. I don't know whether I should be interested or not. On the one hand, it would be so cool to read more about him. On the other, I don't want "actual" history to ruin my concept of him. He's one of my favorite characters.
  16. You know, for all that people seem to laud Pierce for her "strong female characters"....I want to read more about the boys! Neal, Cleon, Raoul and Gary... Even Prince Roald, even though we read hardly enough about him to even begin to be interested. I was really pleased that Roaul (I'm sure I just spelled that wrong) had such a large part in Squire. I really liked him and Gary in the Lioness books. It's too bad we didn't get to read more about him as a young man, though. (Although Cleon did remind me of him, heh.) And I would have liked to have at least one more contact with Cleon before Lady Knight ended. I mean...geez! I know that
his and Kel's relationship was over
, but he was such a fun character. "Teardrop of my heart," and all that. *crooked smile* The way Lady Knight ended really irked me. I realize that "real life" doesn't tie up neatly at the end of things, but for crying out loud...that's why I read books. Yes, I did want to read more about Neal... :toothy: He was so much fun, too. I was glad we got to see more of him in Lady Knight, but still. Ah, well. That's why I have an imagination, I suppose.
  17. *pained* You...just...posted...in...a...thread...about...dreams. Please, let's keep this contained, shall we?

  19.
Originally posted by ReTarr So, what I'd like to know is do you consider yourself a real Otaku?
Absolutely not. *shrugs* I don't even watch anime. The exent of my knowledge comes from occasionally browsing threads here, and doing some mild research when I want to start drawing a new character. In general, I like the art, and I'm a fan of Miyazaki stuff. That's about it.
  20.
Originally posted by Dagger IX1 I was also very disappointed with Lady Knight--while it wasn't a bad novel, I felt that its ending was a pretty big let-down.
What ending? It didn't end, it just....stopped. I started reading Tamora Pierce's stuff...six years ago? (Has it really been that long?) Of the quartets I've read (Circle of Magic, the Circle Opens, Song of the Lioness, the Immortals and Protector of the Small) I think my favorite is a toss-up between Lioness and Immortals. I guess I'm a big fan of characters. I love Numair; he's just so cool. He's very protective of Daine, in an odd sort of way. Their relationship was very interesting to follow. Numair seemed the perfect mentor for her; I especially thought it was interesting how protective he was of her. (How angry he was when
Daine stopped her heart while listening to the whales
is the earliest example I can think of.) There's a quote from the end of Wolf Speaker that I really liked. It's not exactly a brilliant quote, or especially descriptive, but it really struck me as a good example of Numair and Daine and how they got along. This is Tristan [strike]talking[/strike] yelling at Numair at the beginning, by the way:
"You and your 'honor codes,' your sermons on what we owe the unGifted--you made me sick in Carthak, and you still do. Well, you will not walk away unscorched!" He pointed at Daine, and the funnel lept for her. She fired; Numair said a word that made the air scream. The tornado vanished. Her bolt plunged into the tree that was now Tristan Staghorn.
A paragraph and a half, heh, but for me that was the climax of the book. I guess it really struck me because of how reserved Numair tends to be, and yet he actually used
a word of power
to protect Daine. Very interesting. (And at the same time, Daine was being sensible and doing what she could to deal with the situation.) I also thought Daine's brush with insanity was very interesting. (The badger, heh. What a loveable old grump he was.) Daine really fought her magic for a while there. You can't really blame her; what she's got is unlike anything else in Tortall (well, to an extent), and while it helped her survive
when her family was killed
, it nearly got her killed itself. If anyone bothers to read this, I'll post more later. :p
  21. It's cute. In a scary, bizarre, what-the-heck kind of way. Actually, the longer I look at it, the less cute it is. I figure in about two minutes, I'd be having nightmares about it. Er...what is it from, exactly?
  22. That's a big NO. This is completely inacceptable. You posted a smiley as the start to a thread, and that's simply ridiculous. OtakuBoards encourages discussion, and this thread has nothing to offer. Please read our rules before posting anything else. Consider this a warning.
  23.
Originally posted by maladjusted PS: Older sibling can usually get our of work especially if there in high school since there's so much studying to do and whatnot.
pfeh, I wish. :p Actually, I have surprisingly little homework. I know it took me a while to get into the swing of things my seventh grade year (only year I ever had problems with homework) but since then I've been doing it on my own time. Admittedly, sometimes my job og the evening is to help with someone else's homeowork... I never had homework when I was in first grade.
  24. I don't think I was really meant to be an older sister. I have three younger siblings. My sister is 15, and we usually get along. We're alike in so many ways--so we're either on great terms, or completely at odds with each other. We like many of the same things, although she's more of a tomboy. (Funny how that's switched since we were little. The was a period where she'd wear nothing but pink and/or dresses. Long past, heh.) Our likes and dislikes are almost the same, which is interesting. We've always agreed on what's "cool," and have the same sense of humor. It's kind of scary. She's more of a goof than I am, though, so sometimes that leads to conflict. Especially when I'm trying to do something important, and she won't take me seriously. One of my brothers is 13, although it's hard to keep that in mind. I actually have to think about what grade he is sometimes, because he really doesn't seem younger than my sister and I. He's mind-bogglingly smart (he's acing second-year high school math, as an eighth grader) and has the same sense of humor as my sister and I. (A little less so, but still roughly the same.) He loves math, science, and computer games...actually, if you want a pretty good idea of what he's like, think Jason from Foxtrot, only taller. The only thing that drives me nuts about him (aside from his occasional rants about obscure scientific principles and the fact he understands my physics homework better than I do) is how incredibly good he is at getting out of work. Since he was born, I've done more of his chores than he has. Sometimes he sidles out of them, sometimes he "forgets," sometimes he starts the job then slips away without anyone noticing (until it's done, of course), and sometimes he just flat-out refuses to do things. It's infuriating. Problem is, most of the time things just have to get done, so I end up finishing them. (Rational Voice: Okay, Sara, what is this teaching him?) He has been better of late though. My younger brother is six years old, and like my other siblings, I get along with him for the most part. He really loves YuGiOH, and he and my other brother spend most of their non-computer free time dueling each other. He's really funny--his whole life is like a performance. He makes up songs and sings about whatever he's doing at the moment. (Cal is walking, walking, waaaaaaalking down the hall, down the hall, walking walking down the haaaaaaaall...) He's also an incredibly smart little guy. I feel sorry for his teachers, because he spends all his time around my sister and brother and I. Whenever he doesn't understand something we're talking about, he asks...do you know how much odd stuff that kid has learned? I found myself explaining the concept of irony to him a few months ago. So, yeah. He's obnoxious sometimes, but he's six years old. He's entitled. We all get along for the most part. In general, the only problems I have with my brothers and sister is when they're being jerks to each other. As the oldest, I'm "supposed" to prevent conflict. It's tricky when they don't listen to me. Three of us are close enough in age that they don't pay attention (or take me seriously) when I try to keep things under control. That's frustrating, especially when my sister is beating up on my brothers. (It's even more frustrating when my parents ask why I didn't stop something...) Oh, well.

I got Castle in the Sky, heh. Piro- Rudolph, Nightmare before Christmas, and Labyrinth, huh? *laughs* Very spiff. The oddest gift I received this year was probably a jigsaw puzzle of an Andy Warhol Campbell Soup can. *laughs softly* Long story short, I did a paper on Warhol for art class this past year, and I think everyone in my family learned a little about him and his work. (No! I didn't complain about it!) I noted some of the most amusing gifts I received at myO. Because I know you're all just dying to find out what I got.
