It has a title that I just randomly made up, but it makes sense later in the story. For those who already read through this I wrote the next two chapters at the bottom of this one. :D
---------------------------------
Chapter one: Summer Surprise

Yugi groaned and looked at the clock. It was the last day of school and the very last subject was Grammar. Yugi was incredibly good at school. He managed to pass each test in each subject with flying colors, but an English test in the last twenty minutes of school was just unheard of.

"Name the 24 more common adverbs. Hmmmmmm," Yugi thought to himself. He looked around to see if any of his friends were done. Bakura and T`ea were done and were both reading books. Tristen was still working on his paper. He was staring at the clock and tapping his face with his pencil. Joey turned around to talk to Yugi.

"Hey, Yuge, did you hear...," He was cut off by the teacher.

"Joseph, Yugi, do I hear talking back there? This is a test!" She said.

"I was just asking for an eraser," Joey lied. The teacher gave him an evil stare strict teachers have mastered so well. Yugi gave Joey an eraser and they started back to their tests.

A few minutes later Yugi looked back at the clock. 3:05, just five minutes until the bell would ring. He started back to his test again. The last three adverbs. He wrote down "very, well," THUNK!

The eraser Yugi let Joey use was back on his desk between "first" and "just". Around the eraser was a paper with writing on it.

Meet me after school near bikerack.
Good news.
Joey :)

Yugi looked up at Joey who turned around, smiled, and gave Yugi the thumbs up sign. Joey got up from his desk with his paper and went to the teacher's desk to put his finished paper with the rest. He turned around heading back to his desk, looked at the clock, and mouthed to Yugi "Hurry up!"

Yugi did hurry from there on. The rest of the questions were the simple "What kind of sentence, declarative, interrogative, imperative or exclamatory?"

As soon as Yugi finished the "Y" on exclamatory the bell rang. Yugi and Joey rushed out he door and down the hall. Since school was over they didn't need to worry about getting detention for running.

Yugi and Joey raced down the halls to the front doors leading to the bike rack. By the time they had reached the bikerack they were both gasping for breath.

"So, what is it...you wanted...to tell me?" Yugi asked.

"There's a new Duel Monsters competition...You'll never guess where...it's gonna be held though," Joey replied.

"Where?!" Yugi questioned excitedly as T`ea, Bakura, and Tristen found them.

"Where what?" Tristen asked.

"Yugi, you forgot your backpack," T`ea saod handing him the backpack. "I was yelling at you the whole time the two of you were running here. It wasn't a fire alarm."

"Sorry T`ea," Yugi said laughing. "Joey wanted to tell me something and I couldn't wait."

"Well," Joey started. "The new Duel Monsters tournament is gonna be at an amusment park! No one knows the rules yet so it's gonna be like another Duelist Kingdom."

"At an amusement park!?!?!" Everyone shouted.

"Who in their right mind would hold a Duel Monsters competition at an amusement park? Everyone will have too much fun on the roller coasters to Duel," Tristen pointed out.

"Who's throwing it?" Yugi asked.

"No one knows. I hope it's Kaiba though," Joey said grinning evilly. "If he is throwing it I'll be able to get in his face about it! 'Hey Kaiba! Brilliant idea throwin' a tournament at an amusement park. Everyone had so much fun on the roller coasters'"

"Kaiba's a bit smarter than that, Joey," T`ea replied. "When does it start?"

"In two days!" Joey exclaimed.

"Two days?!?!?" Yugi shouted. " That sure gives us a lot of time to get ready. So where is the park?"

"Over by the Domino Harbor, where the boat for Duelist Kingdom was. It's kinda hard to miss the roller coaster," Joey laughed.

"Good point, but I don't remember seeing a park around there. And the Duelist Kingdom tournament wasn't that long ago," T`ea pointed out.

"It would be nearly impossible to build an elaborate theme park in just a couple of months," Bakura added.

"Yes, that is weird. But it's just another reason for us to enter the tournament," Yugi said.

"I don't get it," Joey replied confused.

"Think about it. An amusement park that appears out of no where. Unknown rules and no one knows who started the tournament. It all adds up to be pretty fishy."

"Will Mako Tsunami be there?" Joey ridiculously said. :D

---------------------------
Is Yugi right about the tournament? If so, what new threats will he face? What new dangers await him and Yami? Will Joey ever ask a smart question? Find out in Chapter two: Pharaoh's problem!!!!!!!!!
---------------------------
I don't want to double-post so I'll just start on this new chapter now. This chapter is short so I'll post two instead of one. :D
---------------------------

Chapter two: Pharaoh's Problem

Yugi walked all the way home wondering what the new tournament was all about. Most of the questions he asked himself were "What if" questions like, "What if the Rare Hunters are back?" and such. When he reached the game shop his grandpa was out in front sweeping and humming to himself.

"Hi Grandpa," Yugi greeted walking towards the door.

"Welcome home Yugi. How was school?" Yugi's grandpa asked.

"Pretty good," Yugi answered. "Joey just told us about a new Duel Monsters tournament that starts two days!"

Later that night as Yugi finished reassembling and sorting his deck in his room he saw Yami sitting on the bed looking depressed and worried. Yugi was a little confused at this because Yami, a Pharaoh from Ancient Egypt, was NEVER like this before a big tournament.

"Hey Yami? What's the matter?" asked Yugi worried that something dreadful was happening.

"It's really not too important, I hope," Yami started.

"Phew," thought Yugi.

"Isizu said the events of the past would happen again, but one thing from the past hasn't happened yet," Yami answered.

"Really? What happened?" Yugi questioned.

"Before the War of the Shadow Games, there were great battles that led up to the War. Near Memphis at an oasis a great battle riviling even the Shadow Games War. As soon as it seemed impossible for us to win a two girls appeared out of nowhere riding a dragon and defeated the evil," Yami explained. "If the events of the past are to repeat...,"

Chapter three:
Unexpected Warning

Because of the events of last night Yugi was even more excited and determined to enter the tournament. Yami seemed really worried about what might happen. It was like whatever would happen would be harder than even the Battle City Tournament.

Yugi walked down the city streets in search of a place to register for the tournament. The place where he and Joey registered for the Battle City tournament was closed because it was run by Rare Hunters, the evil Duelists sworn to secrecy and obtaining rare and powerful cards. Yugi continued walking and as he passed a crowd of shoppers he saw a sign.

Registration for Duel Monsters
Tournament
<-----------------------------

He looked toward the direction the arrow was pointing and saw it was a dark alleyway.

"Pretty weird place for something like this," Yugi thought.

He started walking through the alley and soon found the narrow path started twisting and turning everywhere, like a labyrinth. Yugi turned back to the entrance to leave and see if there was another way, but instead of the sign and the street, there was a brick wall.

He stared at the wall confused. Yugi had only walked at the most ten steps into the maze, but where to the entrance was supposed to be was a wall.

He gulped. Yugi had been in tough mazes before and each time he and his friends were able to get out. He began entering the maze again. After the second turn he heard a voice from the top of the labyrinth.

"I was wondering when you would come, Yugi Motou," said the voice. Yugi looked towards the source and saw a person standing on top of the maze's walls.

"Who are you?" Yugi asked.

"You will find out soon enough. I came to warn you of an arising darkness. This Duel Monsters competition is set by evil forces with powers beyond imagining. I will indeed help you and Yami, but I am afraid that as the way things are going now...," the person said and turned away. "But, although the past can not be normally altered, the future holds a different story. Take care. Let the next time we met be not so ominous. Fare well, Yugi," As the person finished talking he/she disappeared and Yugi found himself in front of a building with "Duel Monsters Tournament" written across the front.

Yugi turned around to see what happened when he saw Joey his way. He looked around more and saw that instead of being in the alley he was outside in the open again.

--------------------------
How did you like it? I'll accept any opinions. Now you're going to have to wait for Chapter four: Tournament Introductions.
--------------------------
Okay... here's chapter 4. I got a little impatient and had to write it.
--------------------------

Chapter four:
Tournament Introductions.

Yugi was the last entrant to the Tournament. Everyone else had already heard about the tournament long before Yugi, as weird as it may sound.

Today was the starting day of the tournament. Every single person in the town of Domino were either completely excited, nervous, or both. Many people Yugi met he could recogmise at first glance like, Mai Valentine, Weevil Underwood, Rex Raptor, Mako Tsunami, the Paradox brothers, Rebecca Hawkins, and many Duelists he had never met before. Just as Yugi was turning to go to the Amusement Park one person caught his eye that he couldn't believe he missed. Seto Kaiba.

Kaiba and Yugi looked at each other thinking the exact same thing, "You're going down. :smirk:

"Good luck in the Tournament, Yugi," Kaiba said.

"Same here Kaiba," replied Yugi.

They paused and headed in differnt directions. Yugi to the main entrance of the Park, and Kaiba to who knows where.

***

"Hurry up Yuge!" Joey shouted. "Let's go beat these ametuer's butts." Yugi reached the entrance to the park where Joey and the rest of Yugi's friends were waiting. When he caught up with them they started walking through the park.

About in the middle of the park was a fountain with two girls, one was about T`ea's age and the other was about a year older, sitting on the rim of the pool of water. Both girls had Duel Disk systems. Around the younger girl's neck was an item that threw Yugi completely confused.

"An eighth Millennium Item!?!?!" Yugi thought.

He knew about seven Millennium Items, Puzzle, Ring, Eye, Key, Rod, Necklace, and Scale, but an eighth?!?! This one was shaped like the Millennium Eye, but larger and, thankfully, wasn't worn like the Millennium Eye. Yugi wondered if Yami would know about the Item.

The girl with the eighth Millennium Item paused from her conversation with the other girl and turned to Yugi. She smiled and thought to herself, "About time."

"Yugi Motou, I presume," said the girl.

"Yes," he answered.

"I'm Talli," She replied, then looked towards the other girl. "That's Melody."

"Hello," Melody greeted. As she spoke a little brown furball poked out of the backpack Talli was wearing.

"A Kuriboh?!?!" the group exclaimed. (Note: this certain Kuriboh is a little different from normal Kuribohs. This one explodes just if your put a feather on its head, highly explosive. Also, when it explodes it often doesn't do much damage, and always reappears unharmed for some reason...)

"What?!"

"by the time Talli had spotted the Kuriboh he had started floating over to Yugi curiously. Talli ran up to Kuriboh and grabbed him. As Talli grabbed Kuriboh...he exploded. :blowingup

Kuriboh reappeared without a scratch next to Melody humming in his own little language looking satisfied, and Talli, although shocked, was fine too.

"*cough* And that's Kuriboh. *cough cough*," Talli said recovering from the explosion.

Melody satred to giggle, then laugh, and as if laughing was contagious, the whole group started laughing, even Talli and Kuriboh.

"Would...either of you know anything helpful about this tournament? Maybe something like the rules, who's in charge?" Yugi asked getting his breath back.

"Yep, Talli and I are temporarily running the tournament. The rules are like Battle City's. The only differences are that you only surrender your rarest card ONLY if both Duelists agree to the rule. Also, you must be one of the last 6 entrants still Dueling to go to the finals. Lose a Duel and you are out of the tournament," Melody explained.

"You two are runnin' the tournament, huh," Joey replied.

"Only for a while. Someone anonymously called Melody and me and asked us if we could take over for a while," Talli said. "Hey! Why don't we get this tournament started with a Duel Yugi?"

"You're on!" Yugi replied enthusiastically. Yugi's deck had been rearranged to be more like his old Duelist Kingdom deck, but had been suited to fit the Battle City rules and had some awesome new cards in it. Pegasus never finished making all the Duel Monsters cards, but had writen them all down so new cards were coming out.

***

"All is in place," said a dark voice. The tournament has begun. The one Millennium Item that has been out of reach, erased from the history of Duel Monsters and the Shadow Games, for 5,000 years will finally be mine."

"Sir," said another voice. "A report shows Yugi Motou has entered the tournament."

"What?!?!?!?" shouted the first. "He is not supposed to be here! He and the Pharaoh will ruin everything!"

"Shall I remove him from the tournament?"

The first person thought for a while. "No...I may be able to turn this to my advantege. Those with the Millennium Items will sense the evil here, and do whatever it takes to stop me. Right into my trap."

Sorry about the double-post.

Chapter 5: Starting Duel
Yugi and Talli launched the hologram projectors and shuffled their decks. As the duel began Yugi's Millennium Puzzle started to glow and Yami appeared.

"I warn you Talli. This duel won't be easy," said Yami.

"It certainly won't, but for which Duelist?" Talli said mockingly in the exact same voice Yugi had heard the day before warning him about the new threat.

"It's you!" You're the one from yesterday! From the labyrinth, aren't you!" Yami exclaimed.

"Indeed I am," answered Talli. "I'll tell more after this duel. I'll go first. My first card is Giza Plateau, a field card. (note: Many of the cards in this Fanfic are not real, but their effects and etc. will be explained.) Next I play Tomb Robber (1600/1500) with his special effect. If Tomb Robber is on the field at the same time as Giza Plateau, Tomb Robber's Attack and Defense doubles. (3200/3000) And to end my turn I play a card face-down."

When Talli finished playing sand covered the playing field, and Tomb Robber and the face-down card appeared. Yami stood surprised at Talli's first move. Tomb Robber and Giza Plateau were both VERY rare card.

Yami drew a card and looked thoughtfully at it. Then he looked at the cards in his hand: Dark Magician, Kuriboh, Curse of Dragon, Lightforce Sword and Polymerization were in his hand and he had just drawn Multiply.

"Perfect," Yami thought. "I can use Kuriboh and Multiply. Then, if I can draw something to stop that Tomb Robber I can turn this duel around. I might be able to draw Swords of Revealing Light to stall that Tomb Robber. Heart of the Cards, don't fail me now."

"First I play Kuriboh," Yami said. In the background Kuriboh was "jumping" for joy seeing himself be played.

"Next I play Multiply! One Kuriboh becomes many," he finished.

***

"This is a really intense duel so far," Bakura said. "On just the first turn the duel looks like it has gone on for ages."

"Tell me about it!" exclaimed Joey. "I just want to know how Talli got a card combo like that on her first draw."

"I just want to know if Melody would go on a date," Tristen replied. Everyone stared at him in silence.
*pause*

"I've got a bad feeling about this," T`ea thought. "Somehtingbad is going to happen. And this Talli? Is she good, bad, or what?"

"Good play," Talli answered to Yami's turn. "But you obviously forgot about my trap. Uncontrolled Whip! Uncontrolled Whip destroys four cards and it doesn't matter what or where they are. It's also incredibly risky. Uncontrolled Whip can be controlled, dispite its name, but unless the card-holder can aim really well with the whip, this card is completely random."

"Uncontrolled Whip!? That's one of the rarest trap cards of all time!" Yami exclaimed.

"And it's my favorite trap," Talli said as the whip appeared.

Talli launched the whip right and missed the Tomb Robber by an inch. The whip hit the Multiply card and whirled around and hit the last Kuriboh. The real Kuriboh went crazy and started constantly exploding.

"To finish my turn I attack your lifepoints directly!" Talli commanded to Tomb Robber.

***
"Everyhing is ready master. The tournament is going well and no one suspects anything is going on."

"Good. The time has come then. Send the four into the Shadow Realm!"

"The four?"

"Yes! I need to have a little talk with my traitor daughter."
