Art shading tips

I'd like to start shading pictures I've drawn, but it never looks right. Anyone got any advice on how to do shading?

Get your lineart and do the darkest shading first, and then progress into the lighter side of it. Either that, or go the opposite way, start light, progress to dark.

[b] If you follow a natural progression [/b]and visualise how you want the shading to turn out, it will turn out a lot better. Let me know how you get along with that.[/color][/font]
