hey, what ever happned to multiplayer games. now the only way you can play any more, is if you go online, and start a game through your browser. rember in oringal redalert, when you could play modem, what a grate time. really, what happned to those wonderful times?

games got better and more complicated and modems stayed at the similar level of crapness I figure that contributed largely.
also ppl realised a lot of gamers are sad pathetic loners with no mates to play, so playing over net became an ideal solution :D

Well, I suppose that the games coming out in shops now days, are just getting better and better, which makes them more complicated. And when they're complicated, it takes up more space, and needs a fast connection to play. So the modem just stayed a level crap, and the games have risen from level crap, to a higher level. :D

With all the new computers coming out with greater capabilities...modem-to-modem play just got too slow and boring. It got replaced with the much faster Ethernet/LAN connections. Because you'd want to play with more than just yourself and another person.
