"Well" Arturios said as he approached the group, "What have we found? I see some new faces... and a potion shop" Arturios gave the newcomers the once over before turning his attention back to the group "I don't have any more voidstone amulets on me, but They seem to sell them here," Arturios motioned to a display in the window of the shop. "However It seems we are short on time my friends, I have recieved a message from my friend in Windbreaker, saying that the mines are under siege by Baaloth. We must leave Imediately. You two," he pointed to the newcomers "are welcome to join us, but we must leave now." Arturios paused and walked over to Reaf before saying "And YOU owe me... your lucky the only tavern that sold Dragon's Blood Ale was next to the sherrifs office, and that I overheard the commotion... don't let it happen again, erasing memories is a tiring process..." Arturios, motioned to the guards and men who appeared to be confused and lost, then he turned and began to walk towards the towns north gate.

Arturios sighed... whilst the others had all left for the taverns, he had remained in the square. His thoughts were interupted by the familiar tingle of a psionic message, sighing again he entered the depths of his mind to see whom of his colleges would be Psying him at a time like this... OOC: Arturios is blue, the other person is red. italics are psionic speach Yes? who's there? Its Phaelos Phaelos? and to what do I owe the honnor my Ilithid friend? There is a problem here at windbreaker, you were guiding a party of warriors here where you not? er... yes... wait, A problem? The miners are being slaughtered, aparently there is something in the mine Baaloth REALLY doesn't want us to get... I see... "now where are those taverns? I need a good strong Dragon's blood ale right now..."

Arturios Sighed as the group entered the town gate, the guards bowed to the group as they passed but otherwise the city streets where abandoned. "Most unusual," the old man said he then pointed to the town square" lets stop there for a bit, then we will check the taverns" As they sat down around the trees and fountain of the square Arturios looked towards Shero, "You asked me a question earlier, Shero. You are right their is something about me that I haven't told you. but First do know about Kaydaeryn's history before the Wraithwind?" The others shook their heads "Well before Baaloth was imprisoned their where two ways of manipulating the Astral Plane, one was Magic, the other Psionic. Now the astral is not connected to this plane, so the Psions and Mages had to draw its power through a bridge plane. In the case of Magic, that plane is the Shadow Plane, for Psionics it is the Etherial Plane. When the Portal to Shadow was opened, Mages lost control of their art, The Psions however Did not, as they used the Etherial rather than Shadow" Shero looked at Arturios critically, "What are you getting at?" Arturios smiled, "I am a psion. Like mages we can extend our prime through our art, thats why I am so "robust" as you put it. Now lets go find that Tavern"

As the Demon aproached ever closer, Arturios withdrew a small knife, hardly suitible for combat from his cloaked robes and split the arrow down the shaft about one third of its length. Then he withdrew a small metal rod with a golden tip and lashed it to the arrow using the split ends to hold it in place. Finaly Arturios pulled out a set of flints and whilst holding the arrow with his teeth, he struck the flints near the tip of the metal rod. There was a hiss and the tip burst in to a glowing flame that drove back the shadows around the group for a good ten feet. "Sun rod" Arturios explaned whilst handing the arrow with its new flaming tip back to Keira, "Its a type of torch that uses a metal for fuel, burns bright as sunlight... and effects shadow creatures as if it were sunlight, they burst into flame on contact. So hit the damn thing between the eyes. and my dear Keira you had better be as good a shot as they say you are, cause thats the only sunrod I have..."
-
Arturios nodded and turned from the girl "I understand, And I do not think you a coward, Shero. There is nothing wrong with realizing your skllls are not safe to use here" With that he turned and walked to Keira "Pardon me, but would you mind giving me one of your arrows, lady?"" he then turned to Orik, "keep these wolves off me... I have an idea..."
-
Slowly, and with a visible limp Arturios made his way toward the young mage Shero. He could scense she was troubled over something, but had no idea what. striking another of the wolves over the head with his staff, Arturios ambled up beside her. He seemed to be lost in though for a moment before his eyes grew wide, "Ah... you have a spell stone on you don't you girl?" He studied her reaction and nodded glumly "You are right to fear using it here child... but, perhaps it can be of use to us in another way in this fight?" He paused to strike a wolf that had aproched too close "Did you not see that wolf falter as you touched the amulet? perhaps we can use the amulets aura to paralize our foes with fear" He kicked away the corpse of a wolf and the turned towards Shero once more, "but to get enough power... tell me, Shero, what happens to the water when you wring out the sponge?" with that he eyed the other amulet around her neck, the voidstone, wich was glowing dully from its proxcimity to the onix jewel... He then smirked and gave her a piercing stare "And do not forget, where there are shadow wolves..." the rest of his statement stopped short, as a roar echoed through the narow run of the canals, and a hulking beast lumbered into view from around a corner ahead. Its serpent like head was covered in thick black hair that hung wildly from either side. its body looked like some abhorent cross between a gorilla and a lion, and its sinuos tail resembled that of a monkey's. it was still a good hundred feet down the canal, but it was lumbering methodically closer, the wolves where swarmed around its feet. Arturios laughed dryly "As I was saying where there are shadow wolves, there is always a Shadow demon controling them"
-
With a sickening crack Arturios brought the top of his staff down on the head of the wolf on Kyohen's back. the old man smirked as the voidstone tip glowed dully and much to the others surprise the wolf was seemingly torn apart from the inside. offering his hand to the young elf he said with a serious expresion "Voidstone acts like a sponge to Wraithwind... so creatures born of it are vunerable to the stone's powers" After the young elf was back on his feet Arturios turned to survey the area as the others fought. His eyes narowed as he turned to face behind him and came face to face with another group of wolves just turning the corner of the canal fifty yards back. "so... they are behind us as well? It seems we are in for a hard fight..."
-
From his position behind the others Arturios spoke. "Shadow wolves?! This does not boad well for us. These creatures are in the service Baaloth-Karrh, If they are here in Etus, I fear we may find the whole of Kaydaeryn is overrun... If that is indeed the case, our journey to wind breaker will be tougher than I invisioned." Arturios turned towards kyohen and Orik "They may be wolves but they are still just shadows, use fire, or some kind of light to keep them from swarming you as you fight" then the old sage muttered "Im getting to old for this..."
-
Arturios turned to the the group behind him, "The amulets you hold protect against the Wraithwind, therefore those of you who do not yet have one stay close to those who do. Also my dear Zaion if you hold the stone and concentrait its field will extend for several feet around you, wich should solve your pothole problem" he then turned to Keira "and you madam I must remind you it was your race that created that damned prison in the first place!" Turning a corner of a ruined building Arturios frowned heavily "well it would seem we have a slight problem, the bridge to the stables has been hit by the winds, we will have to take the canal works insteed" With a flick of his wrist the old sage produced a sizeable piece of voidstone, and placed it on the tip of his staff. turning southward he began to decend a rather steep and slime stairwell to the canals and tunnels beneath the city. "the canals are lined with voidstone so their is no need to fear it colapsing... but be on your guard, their may be wraithbeasts below" the old man called over his shoulder
-
"No Questions? then I willl explain the plan." Arturios declared shaking his head. "the Wraithwind, originates from a portal far to the north in the dwarven realm of Kithria. As you may know, the Winds make travel difficult, their is no promise I can give as to wether a city on your map will be there when you arive. however, as for your own safety... those amulets, voidstone its called, resist the Wraithwind and thus protect you from its effects." "If you want my advice Id say head straight north until your reach Windbreaker peak, this mountain is where Voidstone is mined, so the settlement there should be protected. when you arive ask for the head of the mining camp. He will provide you with the location of the next checkpoint on your journey to the Heart of the Torrent." "When you arrive at the Portal, you must figure out a way to close it, and end this madness once and for all." Arturios stood leaning heavily on his staff, "I will go with you as far as Windbreaker... their is someone I need to see. before we leave we should get horses from the guild hall livery" and with that the wizened sage walked out of the sdanctum, leaving the six adventurers alone in the great hall

The ancient Hall of the Sanctum of Etus had in the past days been cleared of all but the barest essentials to make room for the small council Arturios had established. The wizened old sage passed the perimeter of the sparsely furnished chamber. He had to admit, his queries had been far more successful than he had hoped. A Cathsheen, two Elves and a Human sat at the council fire of the sanctum, all chosen for there adventuring spirit, and their unique abilities and outlooks. There was Keira, by far the eldest of the group? in fact she was older than Arturios? but for an elf, such an age was still very much her prime. Her bow skill would be very helpful in the coming quest. To Keira?s Left, was the Cathsheen, Zaion. This quiet yet fiery young cat-girl was the youngest of the group, but Arturios did not doubt that she would prove as important a member as the elder members of the team. As a whole the Cathsheen where world renowned for their unsurpassed agility, and this young girl, Arturios hoped, would prove to be no exception. The only other human in the room was Orick Lathsfeather, the most ?battle hardened? in appearance, Arturios had to hold back a grin as the poor man was struggling at being next to the young Zaion, if something was not done the poor lad would be babbling the entire quest, with two young women near him for an extended period. Lastly was the Elf Kyohen, at 15 years of age he was young compared to Keira, but he wore the signs of an accomplished duelist, and a keen tactician. Arturios ambled over to the fire and sat across from this group of young adventurers and smiling began to explain why he had called them together. ?Greetings my good Adventurers, you have been called here for one reason, the Removal of the Wraithwind from our world. I am certain you have questions you want answered, so, my dear friends ask. And I will answer as I may. ? but first please take these voidstone amulets?? at this he produced a set of four small black stone amulets and handed one to each of the adventurers ?Now ask what you will? consider this the time of planning for the journey ahead? Just then the great doors of the Sanctum swung open, revealling the gruff Sangin, captain of the Etus Guard, along with a two others, a female Human, and a male Cathsheen "Lord Arturios" Sangin said bowing slightly "It seems the Guild hall has been withholding on us yet again. I was just now informed that these two here are also part of the council. I present Sir Reaf Jaggur, and Miss Shero." Bowing again the captain turned to leave "hold a moment old friend!" called Arturios, "I need Voidstone amulets for the late comers, please retrieve them" Sangin nodded and left. "Now," Arturios continued "Welcome! you two please have a seat; as I said to those already assembled now is the time to ask what you will..."
hey daemos are you going to sign up for your own story or not.
A good question Sky, well as the story's creator I will probably end up controlling innumerous minor characters you'll only see in passing... but the old sage Arturios I use in the intro should be considered my character... here is his info. name: Arturios Gender: male race: human Age: 85 years Description: Arturios stands 4'7", although he would be taller if his back hadn't given out. he wears an ornate tunic of red and black, with a large black amulet around his neck. Weapons: Staff Personality: Arturios is a grumpy, easily angered, but otherwise kind old man. He has studied the Wraithwind all his life, and is the foremost expert on its history and actions. he considers himself a great thinker, and quickly becomes at odds with any who oppose this view. any other major character that appear after the start of the game that aren't "player controled" will be added as edits to this post... hope that answers that sky THE ADVENTURE BEGINS NOW!! GOT TO THE MAIN ADVENTURE SQUARE FORUM AND LOOK FOR KAYDAERYN! *sign up still open for the time being ... maximum of 12 people ... so sign up now!*

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS NOW!! GOT TO THE MAIN ADVENTURE SQUARE FORUM AND LOOK FOR KAYDAERYN! *sign up still open for the time being ... maximum of 12 people ... so sign up now!* Imagine a world torn by wild magic, a magic so violent and uncontrollable it is called the Wraithwind. Imagine a reality that twists itself seemingly at random, where nightmare and daydream both intrude upon the waking realm. Now picture peoples and races forever altered by the flow of the Wraithwind, cat-people, elves, dwarves, and some that cannot be named. Imagine Cities moved at random, lakes upturned, and mountains leveled in the blinking of an eye. Welcome to Kaydaeryn A dangerous world to be sure? this is not your run-of-the-mill fantasy setting, magic is wild and uncontrolled. Tales of cities, inhabitants and all being teleported at random by the Wraithwind are not uncommon. And it is for this reason that the Council of Etus have called upon adventurers from all walks of life to quest for ?The Heart of the Torrent? the place from which the winds flow, and to somehow halt its torrent, or at the least slow it? I the Sage Arturios have foreseen that a great trail awaits those who would risk the journey, and so I will tell you what I know of the birth of the Wraithwind and of our world for those who come from other realms. The Wraithwind was not always a part of our world, indeed it is quite the opposite, the Wraithwind is the result of an ancient and powerful rift to the world of fiends. It grows more unstable with each passing year, yet sadly our ancestors created the rift themselves. It began when a group of Dwarven miners uncovered the ancient seals to the demi-plane that held the massive entity known as Baaloth-Karrh entombed. When the dwarves, not knowing their peril, broke the seal the god Merund placed on that crypt, the Demon destroyed the demi plane in his mad throws to flee before the Senhar became aware of his freedom. However, the destruction of a demi so closely tied to the Shadow plane had unforeseen problems. The plane of shadow forced the rift open from within, releasing the torrent of the energy from the demi-plane?s destruction in a storm of raw magic. For four millennia that storm has raged? and it grows only ever more powerful, fuelled somehow by Shadow. Yet, if one can make it to the gate, and seal the doors of the tomb once more, the Wraithwind will vanish. The Adventure begins in the City of Etus, which is the only remaining bastion of civilization left between the ravages of the Demon and the constant howling of the Wraithwind. Countless refugees from innumerous cities have gathered here, to make a final stand, or die in the attempt. The Peoples of Kaydaeryn Humans are the consummate jack-of-all-trades race, skilled in most areas, but masters of none, they are none-the-less the most plentiful race of Kaydaeryn. Although they vary greatly in appearance from individual to individual, the average around five to six feet in height, and between a hundred to two hundred fifty pounds in weight Elves are a noble and proud race, Immortal and ageless. They are all somewhat thin and delicate in appearance compared to humans, but they are without question the foremost race on the use of the bow. In the arts they are unmatched, save in oral storytelling, for elves seem to have a habit of weaving ever in and out of the subject matter. The Dwarves are no longer seen in Kaydaeryn, for their realm was on the gates threshold, yet their may be some still in a cave near the tomb, trapped by the Wraithwind, unable to get aid. As a race they were stocky and robust, averaging four foot in height. They could hew stone in ways that made humans stare in awe, and sent Elves into creative fits of song and poetry. Cathsheens are lithe feline beings native to the plains of Kaydaeryn, once, they where humans, but the ?Winds blew upon their ancestors.? The legends say their human forbearers kept great panthers as mounts, but in a truly horrific wraithstorm mount and rider became one in the same, and not in the centaur fashion either? at any rate, the Cathsheen stand around five and a half feet tall, are mostly humanoid, save for reverse jointed legs, feline ears, and a tail. To say nothing of their cat-like agility To join the quest to halt the Wraithwind, please fill out this sign up form Name: (fantasy please) Gender: (of your character, and no, unknown is not permitted) Race: (human, elf, or Cathsheen) Age: (please be reasonable? Cathsheen come of age at 14 years and live to 60) Description: Weapons: 2 only (Cathsheen claws although a weapon do not count towards the total) Personality:
NO NO NO!!!!!!! NO ONE UNDERSTANDS!!!!!!!!!! i started a new game a few days ago and i tried to play "Epitath" and it wont play!! The screen just goes BLACK!!! AAHH!!!! argh argh argh...... this makes no sense....i cleaned my disc last night and im sure its not my playstation2 i checked that also..... my memory card if fine.........hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....i wonder.......All of the other movies work.......just not "Epitath"......WAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!?!?!?!? AAAHHHHH!!!!!!! im scared.........
I had this problem as well... from what I understand, the problem (in my case)was a combination of two things; one, the data layer of the game disks is thiner than normal, look at the silver parts of the disk and you will note that you can actually see through it to an extent. now that alone would not be a problem, but at the time, I Had a ver. 1 PS2, which apparently have a defect in their optic drive, they, to put it in easy terms actually go blind. That is to say the optics go bad, rendering the device useless. because of the translucence of the .hack diskes even a partially damaged drive may fail to read the disk. I know you said the rest of your game works, butfor me at first, only parts of the game did not function, just as you said, but one day it failed to load alltogether. if your PS2 isn't one of the new versions (the one with the built in remote reciever for the DVD remote) this may be your problem, and if it is a new one, the drive is still not completely stable, but further damage can be prevented (i've been told) by setting the PS2 up vertically. if the drive of either version continues to deteriorate, you may lose the ability to play PS1 games and blue backed diskes on your PS2 as well... At any rate I hope I have been Informative - - - - - - - - - - - - - I want to clarify something... to see what i mean about translucence, hold the disk in front of a light source such as a light bulb. you will see not only the glow of the bulb but but its suroundings as well. for a device that is designed to reflect light, this is not a good thing. the reason for the movie epitaph not working is quite simple its data is atleast partially on an area of reduced reflectiveness. also DONT use a solvent when cleaning disks, but Im sure you know that. I combined your double post. In the future, please just edit your posts if you have something to add, as double posting is against the rules. - Desbreko
