Not neccessarily. The amount of radiation in the atmosphere would neccessitate some rather extreme mutations in just about every cell in every living beings body. So, there would be some survivors. And as for Mr Powell...

Finally. From a mutual philosophical friend... "The Christian resolve to view the world as ugly and bad has made the world ugly and bad". Nuclear winter, while damaging, may even have some useful effects. We'd end up with a world more aware of the facts, and it would be less likely to happen again if we all survived it.

I'm not trying to order people around, merely asking them to obey the rules. Remember who I mentioned I was interested in seeing this thread continue? Think along those lines.

They aren't here. I am.

OOC: People, in case you don't know, Jesus Chicken now plays Cathos. It's his first rpg, so go easy on him.

OOC: That's not very nice. After an unknown period of time, Zaltazar wakes. Hearing some soft breathing beside him, he reaches out, and touches someone's arm. Judging by the feel, and the almost painful sick thrill that ran through him, he judged it to be Alastuin. His surmise is quickly confirmed by the light groan that is emitted by the inert body next to him. Alastuin: What happened? Zaltazar: We were knocked off the wall. Rogan and Enron are over the other side, so I guess it's just us again. Are you alright? Alastuin: No. I can't see a thing. Zaltazar: It actually is that dark. Alastuin draws a sharp breath. Zaltazar: You can take being blind, but you're afraid of the dark? Alastuin: Yes. Again Zaltazar sighs, and pulls Alastuin close to him. Alastuin: Why do you keep doing that? Zaltazar: Sorry. It's just that you seem scared. Alastuin: I'm alright. Zaltazar: Then do you feel up to moving yet?

Cloricus, don't double post. The same to you lateralised.

Alright, we'll do this the hard way. We were all talking about the validity of religious views in relation to war, or something along those lines. I forget who exactly started it. To pose a question that might get things back on track... It has been noted that no matter the different beliefs, some things remain the same. Does anyone really think that if whatever Creator Deity they worship, such a being really condones killing for any reason?
-
Now that we've all established that nobody is out to offend anyone, can we all stop spamming and get back on topic? Personally, I'm interested in this thread continuing, so I'd appreciate it if we all stopped going out of our way to get it closed. Where were we...

If you think you can offend people, you should read some of the interpretations of some of my posts... Nobody is really going to get offended here. Everybody has their own opinions yes, we're just debating the validity of the beliefs behind the opinions.

Them: Jesus loves you. Us(in monotone): Jesus loves us. Kind of thing. Providence is the worst from of optimism, so I'd agree with you that that kind of belief is slightly irrational. I'll refrain from being as vulgar as you.
-
Glad to be of service. The other thing though, is that no matter how divinely inspired someone is, no one would ever get the message entirely right. So a misinterpretation would lead to possible major misconceptions.

Part of the reason I think religion is a faulty premise. They keep changing their story. Not so long ago, they believed the scriptures told absolute truth. Then science started to prove them wrong, and they had to rush around contradicting themselves for a while.

I think I prefer the Big Bang theory. At least it has some back up. Or is quantum foam something to do with the old hairy guy, oh knower-of-all?

Writing A Sonnet to My Shoe and some Fish
The Harlequin replied to Ravenstorture's topic in Creative Works
Now what in god's name am I meant to say to that? -
Jesus Chicken, you're the authority here. I bow before your wisdom and knowledge. You awe me with your eminence. What really happened in the misty paths of antiquity?

If you remember, I'm at least as anti-religious as you. Probably more so, as I'm more scientific than you are. If you remember something else, the Christian religion has not been able to agree on doctorine since its instigation, so it would depend on who you asked. And if you don't want people to talk to you about religion, why did you bring it up?

After continuing on for a while, they notice that the walls are getting higher, slightly wider, and at intervals strange misshapen statues dot the walls. The statues are all of naga like beasts, but of aspect not even Zaltazar has seen before. Their faces are set in expressions of self-loathing immortal cruelty, and their weapons and poses match. Zaltazar: We must be getting close. These are close to thirty feet. Rogan: Well try not to fall off then. It would be impossible to get back up. As if his words were prophecy, the ground starts to shake. Around them, the statues start to shimmer, taking on life and form. Enron: Looks like someone decided to circumvent our idea. Zaltazar: This is not good, we have no room to fight. Instead of attacking them however, the ill-visaged statues turn their blows towards the ground, shaking the walls even more, Unable to hold balance through the onslaught, they all fall, Alastuin and Zaltazar on one side, Rogan and Enron on the other. (OOC: You know, there are times when you should just take a hint) Their last sights before the somnolent realm claims them is the sight of the statues jumping down after them, and powdering to dust as they hit the ground.

You know cloricus, you're assuming that the Christion religion has more basis than any other. Every other religion has had it's devil figures. The Norse had Hel (Interesting coincidence no?), the Greeks Hades, etc. The personification of death/evil (the distinction was a little vague in many societies) has always been around. The Church realised that people weren't really afraid of death that much, and as such, weren't really interested in a religious life. So they invented something to punish the sinners. I wouldn't even be surprised if they rewrote it into the Bible. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bible had been rewritten multiple times. But I have no idea when that was, so I can't back up cloricus's 1500s theory.

Alright, look. I am going to hand the next person who says that I find the bravery and sacrafice of the ANZACS idiocy up by the shoulder blades. FOR GOD'S SAKE! How many times do I have to say it? I FOUND THE WAR ITSELF IDIOCY! Can some of the people here get that clear? I respect those who would die for ones country. I personally wouldn't, because it means nothing to me. But someone with as little imagination as I can put myself in a soldier's place, and I respect those with the convictions strong enough for such a sacrafice. Have I made myself clear yet? If anyone else wants to dispute what I may have meant, PM me about it, so I can deal with you personally. As for your remark, The Unholy Newt, patriotism is the belief that your country is better thane very other country because you were born in it. Pure egotism. There is a difference between patriotism and conviction.
Originally posted by RicoTranzrig I think Ravenstoture and The Harlequin are also an item IRL and on the boards...
Yes, I'll admit to that. Raven and I are involved, and desperately in love with each other, both online and IRL. And from the looks of this thread, we're one of the few couples who treat it seriously... lol.

After camp had been set up, Vukodlak leaps into a nearby tree, reclining in the branches. Puzzled, someone calls up to him. Used to the comments about his strange behaviour, he is unperturbed. Vukodlak: Not only do I preferentially go without sleep for at least a week at stretch, I have no slept on the ground for years, not since I left Underdark. I'm not about to start now, and you people need a sentry anyway. So don't bother me. Whoever shouted, Vukodlak was still unsure of people's identities at times, walked off, leaving the dark elf to his solitude. Sighing, Vukodlak stares at the deepening darkness, immersing himself in his own melancholy thoughts.

Appreciated. It was also slightly unfair that I had multiple characters going, so this evens things out.

Alastuin: As I said, sometimes I dislike the dark. Zaltazar: It's alright, I'm here with you. Alastuin: Comfort? From you? Zaltazar: Well, if you wish to put it on that basis, I'll leave. There is a small sound, as if Alastuin tried to say something but it caught in her throat. To Zaltazar however, it sounded positively despairing. Reaching out, he strokes her hair, assuring her he is not going to leave. Alastuin: Please don't leave. I couldn't bear you leaving. Zaltazar: It's alright, I'm not leaving you. Alastuin: Thank you. After a short period, Zaltazar notices that Alastuin's hand has not stopped shaking. Zaltazar: It's alright, you don't need to be afraid. Alastuin: I'm not that afraid anymore. Zaltazar: Then why are you shaking? Alastuin: In case you haven't noticed, it's absolutely freezing here. Zaltazar: It's going to be cold night yes, and we have no fire. Try to keep awake. Alastuin: I can't help it, it's too cold. Sighing, Zaltazar pulls Alastuin up next to him, pressing her tightly against him. Alastuin starts, and shakes even more. Alastuin: What are you doing? Zaltazar: Keeping you warm. Alastuin: It's not really that cold. Zaltazar: If you say so. Zaltazar releases her, but she does not move. Puzzled, he shifts slightly, facing her in the pitch black darkness. Zaltazar: I thought you said it wasn't cold.

Wordlessly, Davien pulls Alastuin down on top of him, kissing her passionately. After a minute or so, he breaks off, fighting to keep his mouth unobstructed for a few mere seconds. Davien: What about the others? Alastuin grabs his head and again presses her lips to his, cutting off all further debate. After a tense moment, Davien relaxes, and kisses her back just as hard.
