FlasherMXer Posted February 24, 2003 Share Posted February 24, 2003 Porn Spamming Bots hit vB-Boards Several vBulletin Boards got hit by spamming bots. They register, activate their accounts and start to spamm all accessable threads with links to pornpages. Most likely, the affected boards were selected, because of the public linklist on vbulletin.com. No difference if a board has had just 5 Members or 5000. Even Members of the vb.com/vb.org staff wern't save. Read more about that issue and possible solutions here. Charles Posted February 25, 2003 Share Posted February 25, 2003 I've banned the e-mail addresses and IP numbers of the bots. The numbers were complete so no one should be affected. I doubt that these mass spammers would have lasted very long with precautionary measures such as flood control and the ability to prune in place, but I decided it would be best to take the safe route anyhow.
