SuruBlu Posted June 16, 2002 Posted June 16, 2002 Sorry this is spam but its bugging me Has anyone else noticed that 99 times out of 100, people on the boards spell organization as "organisation"!!? English lesson: organiZation with a z not an s P.S. before somebody tries to yell at me for "an s", I have the professional opinon of an english major that it's "an s" because you phonically pronounce "s" as "ess"
wrist cutter Posted June 16, 2002 Posted June 16, 2002 We have a few members here from Australia. And in Australia, I know for one, that practice is spelled practise (at least it was in my Australian textbook). So I wouldn't be the surprised if the same went for a word like organization.
SuruBlu Posted June 16, 2002 Author Posted June 16, 2002 Ahh, that makes sense. Didn't think about that, Oopsie heh...
Alley Catt Posted June 16, 2002 Posted June 16, 2002 Wrist cutter is right. Australians and Americans have different spelling for many words. 'organisation' is just one of a long list of words that are spelt differently.
Guest Saiyangohan2002 Posted June 16, 2002 Posted June 16, 2002 HEY what abot New Zealand? Don't forget us! We Commonwealth countries have kinda adopted the english grammar system, so "organization becomes organisation" As for Practice/Practise, One is used for a feild of work e.g a medical practice and sport practise
Sephiroth Posted June 16, 2002 Posted June 16, 2002 There are many spelling differences between the US and the UK.... Organization in the UK becomes Organisation Color in the UK becomes Colour Cookie becomes biscuit, lol.... No more need for this topic to remain open.... Topic Closed
