I have a very simple solution assuming a case like this comes up again. All those who want the person to live can pay for them to live. In this case it would have worked for the husband, as his life isn't crippled by the costs (which I will note he has paid for the last 15 years without help from the parents who are now trying to 'save' the girl) and it would have kept all the religious people happy. Oh...Then again when little jimmy down the road needs a heart transplant other wise he will die no one will have any money to give because they will be already giving it to a dead lady. Besides, Maddox had a good spin on this topic. [A note that the maddox link has three swear words in the text.]

It seems that Australia goes for all or nothing. The jokes pulled here are normally so large and believable that you always check the date and time (eg anything dated 1st april 0000 to 1200 hours is suspect) before believing anything. News sources, TV, radio, and most mediums get in on the act. In some cases several competing sources will get together for a rare prank on every one. Most are funny and harmless, anything crude or painful I have noticed is shunned. So all in all a good day that many ignore.
but we've lost a great man.
And possibly gained a holiday, at least for people still in primary and high schools. I believe it is tradition for Catholic schools to have a day off to morn the Popes death?

Interesting topic. I have been in the situation where a close friend asked me for one reason for him to continue to live. After six months of seeking help for him and pushing him to continue I was out, simply stuck for words. Two hours later he killed himself. It was not a fun day for me. Though thinking about it, and this could just be a way of helping deal with the event in my mind(?), I tried to work out if it was infact myself and the people around him that were the selfish ones. Was it selfish of his parents to put him in the situation and expect him to deal with it? Was I selfish forcing him to continue against his will? I came to the conclusion that it was, in this case. So I think the blame, if any, can go to any one depending on the situation and the resulting event can seem selfish or warrented. So I would have to say I'll sit on the fence on this one, in some cases it is, others it isn't.

How straight am I? Depends on how you define gay I guess. I have one or two male friends who if they were female I would be married to! They just have the sort of mind I love in a person. Though as they are male I am completely uninterested, but even then I am attracted to some males but nothing more than fleeting thoughts. Probably some thing to do with their faces? Apart from that I am only interested in females, they have all the cool things guys don't. :) So I would rate myself as completely hetro. I will agree with Heaven's Cloud on her post. I also think some of this is 'playing' and fad like.
Come again? I'm sorry, but you seem to be questioning whether or not sexism is, in fact, bad. So, to answer your question, yes! there is. There is a problem with any amount of sexism, anywhere, at any time, for any reason.
Well yes, I guess that is what I am questioning. I just stopped to think about it when I read the first post and was thinking what would happen if it didn't exist. And thinking about it in more detail I do not think I would like to live in a world with out it. Rejection and watching abuse in these forms seems to compele people to improve themselves, I like many people have been descriminated against and it has made me a better person - through the want to be better. The idea that this sort of thing is bad suggests that every one is/should be equal to start with and I seem to think that would be very boring. It could just be a strange tangent that I've gone onto here. Though even watching sexism in anime, for example, compeles the (fe)male(s) watching to want to do some thing about it. Either be better than the portayed character or rise up against it. I know saying a 'limited amount' in my first post suggests I know the thin line that shouldn't be crossed in this suggestion but I don't know it. Just a thought. :animeknow

Is there a problem with limited sexism? In anime or the world.

1. Neon Genesis, this was the first anime I was aware that I was watching. In fact the first episode I saw was the doctor messing with her mothers brain inside casper. Had me hooked, I have since watched the series and movies several times over. Without it I would have probably stuck to the english dubbed rubbish that comes to Australia via (at the time) Agro and then later on CheeseTV. (Thankfully until the advent of the internet and dvd's SBS had enough anime to keep me happy.) So yes, NGE gets the top of my list. 2. DearS, what can I say; a completely weird story line with interesting plot twists... Great animation - I really liked the style they use. I'm not a fan of anime that has little detail in the frames. Added with a solid story line which is some thing many animes lack. Also very, very funny with out really trying. Though I'm guessing it might be slightly to mature for some users here. 10. Pokemon, I was 14, leave me alone! I was completely addicted to Pokemon for years in primary school. So I guess I must give it a mention. Well that is the start of my list, I assume I still have a little while to update it. I need to find the spelling of some I've watched over the last few months, and remember the reason I love Ghost in a Shell. (Yes that is a poor excuse to watch it all again. :P)
