1. Perhaps you had a dream last night...a dream of aging soldiers, walking battle tanks, and bendy cigarettes. (We ourselves had dreams of being stabbed in the neck.) And it was all so vivid, as if it were direct-feed video funneled directly into your subconscious. It was no dream. Last night while we were all asleep, Konami released the first official direct feed trailer of Metal Gear Solid 4 from the Tokyo Game Show. http://www.konami.jp/gs/kojima_pro/japanese/mgs4_04.html
  2. (Courtesy of http://www.1up.com) In Capcom's next-generation theater at the Tokyo Game Show (set up like a real movie theater with the game titles listed on a marquee outside), the company is showing off three of its biggest upcoming titles: Resident Evil 5, Dead Rising, and Devil May Cry 4. While the RE5 trailer has been shown previously and Dead Rising is also playable on the TGS show floor, this is the first time anything significant has been shown for the next installment in the Devil May Cry series. In the trailer, series hero Dante (or someone who looks almost exactly like Dante, but with a softer, less angry face), shows up walking leisurely down an alley towards the camera. He takes a few steps, and all of a sudden you realize that he has a serious beef with said camera. He kneels down, tapping on the camera as if it was a television set, then shaking and hitting it. Its reception goes to black and white at one point, even. Soon enough, Dante takes his camera harassment to the next level and starts full on attacking the camera, hitting it up in the air and then the trailer slows down as you fall towards him with his two guns aimed right at your face. A few more stylish combos go on, and just at the point you think you are going to get dizzy -- you are watching yourself getting attacked in first-person the entire time, after all -- your camera view falls to the ground again, and Dante walks away. Giving the stylish look and teaser approach taken by the trailer, we don't have much news about the game to impart, but if this trailer is running on the actual game engine, it features a mind-bogglingly good look. Dante's hair has a nice shiny look to it, his coat looks leathery and fits perfectly with the character, and the alleyway in the background looked amazingly detailed. It's a short, controlled trailer, but these graphics look much more like they could be running off real hardware than those in, say, the Killzone PS3 trailer, despite an abundance of special case animations like when he bends down to tap on the camera at the beginning. Capcom ended its presentation by confirming what we already assumed: Devil May Cry 4 will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Given that the game debuted at the Electronic Entertainment Expo earlier this year in a few second of rendered footage of Dante, that's no huge surprise, but nice to have official. No release date was given for the game. DM 3 was simply amazing, so expect the 4th installment to be even better. 3. (Courtesy of http://www.1up.com ) Years ago, Hideo Kojima made an offhand comment about how he'd like to be working on Metal Gear Online, and gamers finally got to see what he was talking about at Tokyo Game Show, as the online multiplayer mode of MGS3: Subsistence was available for fans to get their hands on. Of the modes that have been announced earlier, the predominant mode at TGS is Capture Mode, where two teams work on seizing an object (in this case, a frog much like the ones you find hidden in odd places in the original Snake Eater single-player game) and hold the object at their base for 20 seconds. We've played three maps, and while we didn't catch the names, we noticed that these were unique multiplayer-only maps (as opposed to how some maps are simply locations from Snake Eater); one map is simply a small cabin with two base markers on either side, another is a larger forest enclave with one team's base in the forest and the other's on the edge of the single building that's in the map, and the last is a sort-of-warehouse district exterior (you can only enter some of the buildings), filled with lots of stairways, roofs, and ladders. Controls are just like the original ones in Snake Eater--even with the new third-person camera (it feels pretty good to be able to swivel the entire camera around with the right-analog stick this time). You still can't move in first-person, though, and to alleviate that, you can perform a semi-lock-on with the L1 button, where you just aim your gun in the general direction of the nearest opponent. The original MGS3 took advantage of analog buttons, so you'll need to remember to push down hard on the Square button when using a gun like the AK-47. It's not super-intuitive at first, but it's fast to learn, and there should be little to no learning curve if you simply replay some Snake Eater to reacquaint yourself with the controls. Match setup is pretty basic, as the host picks a map, and the players just select sides. After that, each player can select his armament of main gun (AK-47, XM8 rifle, M37 shotgun, SVD sniper rifle), sidearm (Mk 22 dart gun, colt pistol) and secondary items (stun grenades, chaff grenades, claymore mines, porn magazine, etc.). Everytime you die, you can change your equipment before respawning (in the matches we played, there didn't seem to be a limit on respawns, nor a penalty besides time to respawn). Additionally, there are weapons and items scattered throughout each map, and while we can tell you that the cardboard box is standard issue (you always have one), we just haven't put it on yet to see how useful it is. Even with just the small sample that gamers played, there has been one tactical discovery: "porno mag mining." Good players have figured out that the most effective defense in multiplayer is to scatter porn magazines all over key points of the map. Back at E3, Kojima commented that players will often experience what it's like to be a soldier in the MGS universe, and the porn mag is a good example. In the single-player game, the magazine is used as a distraction for enemy guards, and in multiplayer, it forces any and all nearby players to stare at the mag while frozen in place. When you're looking at it, you can neither move nor shoot, and other players then just take potshots and kill you while you're frozen in place. We haven't seen much more of MGS3: Subsistence overall, but the little slice of "Metal Gear Online" that we've played has hooked us (we still haven't experienced the whole "play as a Snake or another main MGS3 character aspect" yet), and really, how can you not like a game that uses pornography as a weapon? With all of that said....I JUST CANT WAIT TO GO ONLINE WITH THIS VERSION OF MGS! HERE ARE SOME ONLINE PICS AND HERE IS SOME BEAUTIFUL ARTWORK! 5.
I played Burnout 3: Takedown. I really, really liked it. So if this one is as good as you say it is. Do you have links for Vidz/Screens? What makes it better than the previous Burnouts? Where'd you get the demo? Heh, sorry, I have no info on it as of yet. I haven't even heard of the demo. -ArV
The demo is on Madden 06, and go here for screens and videos. http://1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3139366
  6. For those of you that have played the demo, then you already know that this game is going to be good! The game comes out this Friday. The visuals for the game are very good. Is it online? Most LIKELY! Its much better than the 3rd Burnout...
  7.
The original series went five seasons with nearly 150 episodes in all. That's a very impressive output lol. No season of the original series had fewer than eighteen episodes, while there are two seasons with thirty-six episodes and one with thirty-seven. No wonder the DVD sets cost so much if they have to pack that much in. :p
5 seasons? How many years is that (cause it went from late 60s to the early 70s didnt ) Ive see the prices for those DVDs....it would make a great Birthday present!
  8.
I love The Twilight Zone. I think there are two TZ marathons each year... one on the 4th of July weekend, and one on New Year's Eve/New Year's Day. I look forward to both of them very much, haha. I really got into TZ while watching one of those marathons a few years ago, in fact (I might've watched a couple of episodes before when Sci-Fi still showed the episodes outside of the marathons). I'm a developing writer, and TZ is a huge influence on me, both in the style of the stories and their structure. I think what I enjoy most about TZ is that one can enjoy the series as both pure entertainment and intellectual entertainment. You don't really have to get the deeper meaning behind any of the episodes to get some enjoyment out of the series. I think that's the basic reason why there is so much emphasis on science-fiction and fantastical stories on the series. With that genre, the writers could slip in social and political commentary without the network higher-ups being privy to it. Who would expect such a fantastical series to be commentating on the world at large? I think that was a pretty brilliant move, personally, and it makes the show that much more enjoyable. If you want to think, then you can try to figure out what each episode means, what it is trying to say, etc. If you just want to watch some TV, then you can just see, say, aliens coming to Earth, befriending the humans, and
plotting to eat them,
and nothing more. :) I really wish I could buy the TZ DVDs, but they're way too much for me to afford right now lol. It's a shame, really. Oh well, just a few more months until the next marathon, at least. :p
Yeah, TZ was the one of the greates American television shows. It challenged the mind and what we, as a people, were up against. It also showed how creative one person can be. How many season did TZ last? My favorite episode (in which you implied in the blackened out part of your paragraph, To Serve Man is one of my favorites. My second favorite is the episode where everyone is the diner trying to figure out who is an alien (not a first though)
  9. Does anyone remember watching this show? I love old shows like this. (and its a PLUS if you like Science Fiction) One of television's most rightly revered series, The Twilight Zone (CBS, 1959-64) stands as the role model for TV anthologies. Its trenchant sci-fi/fantasy parables explore humanity's hopes, despairs, prides and prejudices in metaphoric ways conventional drama cannot. Creator Rod Serling wrote the majority of the scripts, and produced those of such now-legendary writers as Richard Matheson and Charles Beaumont. The series featured such soon-to-be-famous actors as Robert Redford, William Shatner, Burt Reynolds, Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper, Carol Burnett, James Coburn, Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, Peter Falk and Bill Mumy, as well as such established stars as silent-film giant Buster Keaton, Art Carney, Mickey Rooney, Ida Lupino and John Carradine. An often worthy revival series ran on CBS from 1985-87, and in first-run syndication in 1988. Another recently ran on UPN, which reunited Bill Mumy and Cloris Leachman in a sequel to the classic TZ chiller "It's a Good Life." But it's the daring original series that shows every sign of lasting the ages as the literature that it is. It still comes on TV (the sci-fi channel) and EVERY year, on the 4th of July its a Marathon of this series.
  10.
Which animes have the best music? I think Gundam Wing's white reflections and just communications are cool. I also like Rurouni Kenshin's heart of the sword . Gundam Seeds operner isn't that bad either
I like the opening songs to Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist. The music used for Samurai Champloo really confuses people....they're all like "why would you put hipp-hop music for an anime like this?" Well, the music really goes for Champloo. Nujabes,FatJon,FORCE OF NATURE,tsutchie did a really good job on the musical side for the show.
  11.
I love Tribe. Wonderful hip-hop band, one of the, if not best hip hop band of the 90s. A Love Movement is probably my favorite album. Have you heard any of Q-Tip's solo work? I have his album, Kamaal The Abstract which was never released for some reason. Great great album again. These guys just outdo themselves all the time.
One the premiere groups of the Native Tounge Movement in the 90s. Now get this, the Tribes name was orignally given to them by the Jungle Bros. (and in finding that out, I wanted to listen to the Jungle Bros. music, THINKING that it was similar to the Tribe.....I was SADLY mistaken) Yeah, my favorite album (so far) is The Love Movement and the other one is Midnight Mauaders. EDIT: I recently bought The Anthology. Its very good. I only have 2 CDs made by the tribe. (The Anthology and A Tribe Called Quest: Hits, Remixes, and Rarities) I plan on buying the rest. Some my favorite songs on The Anthology are "Luck of Lucien" "Bonita Applebum" "Electrice Relaxaion" and "Description of a Fool"
  12. My favorie adult swim show is Samurai Champloo. I just cant get enough of it. The music goes well for it (although, many wonder why Hip Hop was chosen) and the action and plot go well with this top notch anime.
  13. Battlecry "Opening theme" for Samurai Champloo sharp like an edge of a samurai sword the mental blade cut through flesh and bone though my mind's at peace, the world out of order missing the inner heat, life gets colder oh yes, i have to find my path no less, walk on earth, water and fire the elements compose a magnum opus my modus operandi is amalgam steel packed tight in micro chip on my armor a sign of all-pro the ultimate reward is honor not awards at odds with the times in wars with no lords, a freelancer a battle cry of a hawk make a dove fly and a tear dry wonder why a lone wolf don't run with a klan only trust your instincts and be one with the plan some days, some nights some live, some die in the way of the samurai some fight, some bleed sun up to sun down the sons of a battle cry some days, some nights some live, some die in the name of the samurai some fight, some bleed sun up to sun down the sons of a battle cry look, just the air around him an aura surrounding the heir apparent he might be a peasant but shine like grand royalty he to the people and land, loyalty we witness above all to hear this, sea sickness in the ocean of wickedness set sail to the sun set no second guessing far east style with the spirit of wild west the "quote-unquote" code stands the test of time for the chosen ones to find the best of noble minds that ever graced the face of a hemisphere with no fear, fly over the blue yonder where the sky meets the sea and eye meets no eye and boy meets world and became a man to serve the word to save the day, the night, and the girl too [chorus repeat]
  14.
With that said, I like A Tribe Called Quest. In fact, I like their work as a group better than some of Q-Tip's solo work (although Q-Tip alone is far from bad). They're one of the few groups that define true hip-hop in the 1990s.
(man, thats the second time ive gotten flagged, my bad) Anyway, thanx for that reply (Ive getting some replies from Mods....weird). Yeah, their music was great. "Electrice Relaxation" is one my favorites. But, for some reason, everyone always says that their number one song was "Bonita Applebum" Their music was pretty good too, not just the lyrics. The song that I love because of the music is "Luck Of Lucien".
  15.
Qman1, we ask that you use constructive criticism in your posts to ensure a continuing effort in improving the artist's skill and work. Please read the sticky on such at the top of the forum, and look around to get an idea of what is expected of you.
Opps, sorry. OK, try it again. This pic is very good. The shading is perfect (in me eyes) The expression on Inuyasha's face is good. The tree is well done. Also, the shadow of the tree (I guess Its the shadow of the tree, I see the shadowing in the backgroun) is good also. As, I look closer, I can see the vines at the base of the tree. Very realistic. 10/10

    Psyche Origmai

Has anyone ever heard of this underground hip hop group? Their music is amazing. They're very good. They're making their 3rd album now (which should be out in a few months.) Go to www.psycheorigami.com (first hit enter, then go scroll down till you see a float called MUSIC, click that and listing to full length songs) EDIT: P.O. recently released their 3rd album, called The Standard. Its very good. (better than their second album, Is Ellipsis)
  17. Its alright.....but it could do better (much better) The programming is ok, but things like the racing show with that crazy black guy? (what does Drifting have to do with gaming?) Also, they could improve the shows by actually talking about the games (like X-Play does) No one wants to talk about cars, or PCs. People just want GAMES. Cinematech is ok, but it needs to be turned into something else or just get rid of. Thats my take on it. (its a great channel and everything, but, needs improvement)
  18. Ok, my favorite 3 movies are.

Enter the Dragon I selected Enter the Dragon for my number one choice because of the man who stars in it....hmm...whats his name? Oh yeah, BRUCE LEE! The man was simply amazing. He showed what the human body could do (he also showed how well toned the human body can be) He was a living legend. Also, Enter the Dragon was an AWESOME movie. A certified classic. :D
Pulp Fiction I love movies by Quentin Tarintino. His wacky/ 70s style in his movies, make them that more interesting or funny. John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson really played their roles well in this movie.
Boyz N The Hood This movie is a 90s classic. It showed what really happened in L.A. during the 90s. It also showed the cultural division and struggle. A very good movie.
19.
k this is my question: if inuyashas demon blood is held back by the tetsusaiga then why, before he got the tetsusaiga, wasnt he all demon-ish (sorry couldnt think of any other way to say it) any way if anyone has an explanation please tell me :animeangr *keke*
His mother was a human and his father was a FULL fledged demon. Which would make inuyasha a half-demon. Does that answer your question or no?
  20.
I have mixed feelings about the new game coming out. I had been a strong Madden follower from 2002-2004, but decided to get ESPN2K5 last year since it was cheaper and got just as good reviews. I really liked it even though there was a big learning curve after stepping away from Madden. I'm still kinda pissed about EA getting the exclusive lisence and might pass on Madden '06. Its a tough call though, the new Bills team is calling out to me now that they got rid of Suck Bledsoe. Of course, trading him was always the first move I made with a new franchise. We'll see I guess.
I dont even like playing ESPNNFL2k. My friend always beats me in it. (plus I dont have an Xbox, Im a Sony guy) The exclusive EA deal was a big move for EA, but its bad for everyone else. Buffalo huh? Well, at least my team got Drew this year.... :D I recently started playing all-madden (and it isnt that hard, but my current record on my franchiseis 2-5, but I swear all-madden isnt hard)
  21. CANT WAIT FOR THIS GAME. It comes out sometime next week. Lots of new features (like QB Vision or Precision Passing) I love the madden series. Its been going strong for over 10 years. My madden 2005 is just about out-dated. (plus, Im getting frustrated with my franchise on the game) There should some upgrades in graphics, franchise mode, and many others. Cant wait for it to come out. (but the real competition is online)
  22.
To expand on Petie's post, there have already been calls for new themes, but James, our resident Site Director is a busy fellow. Not only that, but there are several updates planned for OB that are in the works, and themes'll be broken if you make them now. So, after the update, there may be more themes released, or public availability of a skin designing kit, but that'll happen when that happens. And you've only been here a week. Hold your horses ~_^
It was just a suggestion. But, I love the site in general. Sorry...... :(
  23. They are my favorite old school hip hop group. I love their music. I STILL listen to it today. Classic songs like "bonita applebum" or "luck of lucien" are prime examples of their rhymes and music. One the best.
