Here's Celestial (finally!). Took quite a long time, since I'm pretty busy right now, but I got it done! I used watercolour and ink. I've also attached a larger version.

Awww... Ep. 7 was so sweet! :animesmil I have to say, I'm glad that they're getting on with Romeo and Juliet's relationship in this series. I'm glad they're not stretching it out too much. I really lliked the
chase scene
, and I have to agree about the English version of "You Raise Me Up". Very effective. I did feel a little bit sorry for Hermione, but she did kind of force the whole thing onto Romeo... He never really
agreed to meet with her
. And that hair... *shudder* Plus, Tybalt is pretty darned awesome. I'm very impressed by his
shweet sword skillz
. :D

I have to say that episode 31 was pretty exciting. That
dropping money thing
---heh heh, absolutely disgusting. There's a prime example of human greed right there. So preoccupied with
getting the money
, they completely forgot what they were doing.
Mikami's appearance
sure was unexpected for me, but I guess I should be used to a multitude of new characters appearing all the time by now. Yup. That's some
intense writing
right there. I'd love to see someone actually
write a name that way (looks more like he's slashing the pages...)
. :animeswea And Misa's
lost her memories
...? That was also rather unexpected. I'm still wondering
just how much time she actually has left to live (taking into account the Shinigami Eyes). I'm going to predict right now that she dies before the end of the series
. Heh, it'll be slightly embarrassing if I'm wrong... :animeswea

Oooo... I'll do #28, Celestial, if that's not a problem. :D
Regarding the end of episode 5...
I'm pretty sure that a) the doctor will die, and b) his death will be what forces Juliet to make her decision about launching a real rebellion. She'll have to recognize that half-hearted measures and indecision will only lead to greater suffering.[/spoiler'] I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.
I agree. I guess it seems pretty predictable, but who knows, maybe we'll all be surprised. :animeswea I could tell from the way the doctor was talking to his wife and whatnot that
he was planning on doing something noble and rather stupid
... It's good that Romeo knows about
Odin being Juliet
. At least that bit of confusion is out of the way.
And
Romeo didn't make the connection between Juliet and the Red Whirlwind, amazingly. I guess he's not quite the sharpest knife in the drawer, after all.
:animeswea On the other hand, the persistence of
mistaken identities
is[/i'] a very Shakespearean theme.
It's funny that you mention that about the whole
mistaken identities
thing, since I was just thinking about that today while watching the Twelfth Night movie (we've just finished reading it) in my English class, and I couldn't help but be reminded of this anime. For those of you who're familiar with the story, you know how complicated and confusing the identites get in that story. :animeswea Similar to this show, Twelfth Night has that whole
cross-dressing
thing going on, but in that play it's actually supposed to be there. :animeswea Anyway, there are definately similarites between that play and this anime, which I found interesting. Yes, very much a Shakespearian theme. On that topic,
the doctor sure looks different than the Red Whirlwind/Odin/Juliet
. But I don't suppose anyone will notice that either. :animeswea

Episode 30: It was interesting to see
Kira's crazy supporters
, and what they're perspective is and everything. Plus the effect that Kira's having on society, and how he's become somewhat of a household name. I thought that part where that
little kid talked about Kira, and there was that "Lord Kira, please kill them" graffiti
etc. was nicely done. Heh heh. And the
President of the United States made an appearance
, eh? Seems Light has power over everyone. I'd say he kind of resembled Bush, too, which I guess was the point. Oh me goodness. Kira's Kingdom! *sparkles* :toothy: Mello certainly does have a
scarred face
. And there's a new character, too... Wonder what her role is... And Aizawa is starting to
have his suspisions about Light
. Heh heh, good for him, I say. I've always had a soft spot for Aizawa. :p

Wow, episode 29 was incredible. Full of suspense, and really great looking animation. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. A lot of unexpected surprises for me in this episode. A lot of twists and turns.
The
hospital scene[/spoiler'] was more affecting than in the manga, in large part thanks to Mamoru Miyano's acting chops.
I was really impressed by Mamoru Miyano's voice acting in that particular scene as well. It seemed as if Light did genuinely care that
his father was dying
, although he also seemed to have other things on his mind at the time... :animesigh He REALLY wanted
his father to write Mello's name in the Death Note before he bit the dust
... A little selfish there, buddy. But a really great, moving scene. I'm hoping for more episodes of this quality, which there surely will be.
-
Episode 28 was quite good. Difficult decisions, all round. For Light and his father. (
Poor Mayu...
:animedepr ) Light was showing signs of stress in this episode. And he's getting pretty tetchy. I'm just waiting to see his hair go grey. :animeswea I find the fact that he was actually considering
killing his sister
quite dispicable. Well, this IS Light we're talking about. :animeswea Ha ha, new hair for Aizawa this week. Very dapper looking, I must say. I agree about the
SPK-member-killing, dice-falling
scene. Very well done. I quite liked it. Hmmm... And a
new shinigami
... very interesting...

As others have been, I have to say that I'm quite disappointed with Mercutio's portrayal in this series. :animesigh He isn't even remotely comparable to that original life-of-the-party character. But I guess that's just the way it goes... Anyway, the
Romeo vs. Juliet battle
certainly turned out differently than I expected. I'm glad that it went in that direction, though. It certainly seems as if Romeo has his suspisions about the
Red Whirlwind's identity
. And now Juliet knows that
Romeo's Montague's son
. Of course, now things are going to get rather complicated. Mysterious
glowing tree to represent the prince
? Shweet. Didn't catch on to that right away... :D I wonder... will Romeo and Juliet
die before the Capulets get their "revenge"? Since it seems as if it would be rather difficult for Juliet to do this, considering her situation... Or will something COMPLETELY crazy happen, like the two of them staying alive at the end?!?
I highly doubt that... :animeswea I simply love how pretty this show is. The action scenes are also amazing. Can't tear my eyes away from the screen with this one. I'm a sucker for this kind of thing!
-
Wow, Mello is a freak! :animeswea Anyway, it was interesting to see everyone
change a bit in the four years since L's death
. Most noticeably Sayu, of course. Near seems a LOT like L, which is a bit tired, I think. Mello not so much. Except for the chocolate eating, I guess. That could be comparable to L. I find Near's hair twirling kind of weird and very distracting... They're both interesting new characters, though, and it's going to be interesting seeing this
three-sided battle
they've got going on. The
kidnapping Mayu
thing is sure pretty low. Can't wait to see what decision Light is going to make in this dilemma. Will be very interesting, I think. A new crop of eccentric characters this week. I wonder what other oddities are in store...? :p
-
Episode 2 was also very nice. I agree about the
iris scence, when Romeo and Juliet meet
. It was absolutely beautiful. I have to say, the part where
Juliet runs away from the ball...the whole thing was very Cinderella-esque to me
. But I'm not complaining. :animeswea Once again, there was a role reversal, since
Romeo is engaged to this Hermione girl, whereas in the play Juliet was engaged to Paris (and Romeo and Juliet were already married by this point...)
. The role reversal isn't a bad thing though. I'm finding it very interesting. I think the whole thing with
Juliet being the last surviving Capulet
is going to be a very interesting addition to the story. It certainly makes it a little more complex, anyway. And I suppose now there's a little more room for action sequences. ;) There certainly wasn't a
Romeo vs. Juliet fight scence
in the play. Heh heh. :p I'm really looking forward to the next episode, and how this series is going to play out as a whole. One good thing about it being very different than the play is that I won't be bored watching the same thing again. This way, I have no idea what's going to happen. :D

Best recap episode I've ever seen. Well, I guess it was only half recap, but usually they make it the whole episode, so it was nice that they only made us sit through half the time. And I actually appriciated this recap, because it reminded me of stuff I had forgotten, and helped me organize my thoughts. Which, I guess, is the point of recap episodes. Plus, it was well done (for a recap). The new material was what was really amazing though. Very dramatic, and just the right amount of information to drive me crazy. :animeangr Now I'm going to be waiting for the next episode very impatiently. I'm very curious about those new (mildly creepy) characters. The story has taken quite a turn, and it's going to be very interesting to see events unfold...
-
Wow. Very VERY different than the original. But that's a good thing. It's going to be very interesting to see a completely different rendition of the story. I've studied Romeo and Juliet at school since finding out about this series, so now (two essays later) I basically know the story inside and out, and it's very fresh in my mind. Needless to say, I'm going to notice every tiny little difference from the original, and probably find it distracting, because that's just what I do. :animeswea Anyway, the first episode was certainly very nice-looking. Very pretty and all. Although I find the whole
Juliet cross-dressing
thing kinda weird and the most distracting difference of the lot, I think I can deal with it.
Magical growing hair?? Or was that just a wig???
Romeo... hmm... His character design is fine and everything, but I think it's going to take some getting used to. That's just not how I imagine him. At least he's not acting like a sissy like he does in the actual play, though. You know, first there's Rosaline and everything... Yeah. Pretty fickle guy. Is it just me, or is that
crazy playwright dude supposed to be William Shakespeare, stuffed into his own play
??? Heh. Interesting, if so. The whole Montague/Capulet feud is very different, too. Not a bad different, but there was certainly a role reversal when
Juliet showed up at Romeo's ball
, instead of vise versa. Anyway, I think both the OP and ED are pretty cool. I'm pretty neutral about the new lyrics in the OP. They seem to match the show well, I guess. I have this thing about original stories being changed when they're made into movies and the like...but I think I'm going to find this version of Romeo and Juliet very enjoyable, bacause I'm not all that crazy about the original play, anyway. Maybe they'll make it better. Heh heh. :animeswea

I've just started watching this show on Much Music (Canada) lately. Pretty good show. I really like the musical aspect of it, and the fact that the main theme of the show is music. Which is, I suppose, why it's playing on a music channel. :animeswea Anyway, at first I thought the animation in this show seemed rather sloppy, but... I don't think it really is. It seems to have grown on me. It's kind of this unique sort of style that seems kind of weird... but then it grows on you, and you realise it's not as bad as you initially thought. Gah... That was a horrible explanation. I apologize. :animeswea What does everybody else think of the animation style??? I find the opening very entertaining. It's very interesting to watch, and I think it just looks so cool when the characters sing along to the song. Heh heh. I've been watching the dub (obviously), and I think it's pretty good. No major complaints about the dub. Also, I love all the references to Classic English Rock, since I'm a fan myself. :D Cool show, overall. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest.

Wow... Episode 25 was incredible. Visually stunning and just amazing in every way. I can't say I was completely surprised by
L's death
, but I wasn't really expecting it either... It was done so incredibly well. The whole
rain/feet washing scene
just made me roll my eyes at first, but I did end up appriciating it, as it ended up having more meaning to it than I expected it to have. Meh. Recap episodes are such a pain. I guess they're just an unfortunate reality. :animeswea It'll be really interesting to see where the series goes from here. I'm really impressed right now. :D

Woah! Intense!!! Well, the genius Light has done it again. I was kind of expecting this to happen at some point, but I really hadn't the slightest idea how. The whole
flash flood of memories
thing was very well done---very intense. I'm finding myself wondering
just how much time Misa has left
... I guess I'll find out. And those chibi figures... I dunno why, but they kinda creep me out. :animeswea Is that unusual? Anyway, everything seems to be going according to
crazy/genius Light's master plan
. And I see he's back to
seeing himself as a god
... Hmmm... Getting closer to the end! Can't wait to see the conclusion of this thing...
-
Wow, what an exciting episode. Episode 23 is one of the best I've seen in a while. They certainly weren't stingy with the action and suspense in this episode. Man, that Higuchi is a spaz. It's rather satisfying to see
a Kira actually get captured
. Which says something about
what a lousy Kira Higuchi was
. :animeswea That preview looked VERY interesting though. Hmmm... wonder what's going to happen? Even I can figure that one out.
-
So, episode 22... Not particularly eventful. Matsuda got to make himself useful for once, though...and we got to see Higuchi
lose his cool
. :animeswea And there was more of L filling his face with sweets...same old. I'm really curious as to how this series of events is going to turn out though. The suspense is KILLING ME! >_< Heh heh. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
-
GTK, your character has been claimed. By me. :D I'll have my version up ASAP. EDIT: Here it is! Wasn't feeling that creative, but I DID put her hair up in a ponytail... :animesmil My character's on the right. No name or anything... Feel free to give her a little personality. ;)

Heh heh, I've never dated, and I've had a crush on the same guy for a year and a half. I can't say for certain or anything, but I DO have a feeling that he likes me too... At least, I know that things always get really awkward when he likes someone (and it has gotten very awkward). :animeswea He's never dated either, and the whole awkwardness thing is probably the reason why. It's a vicious circle, I suppose (that is, if we DO actually have mutual feelings...). We're just too nervous to ask each other out. :animeswea He's one of the only guys I was able to talk to...until I started liking him (and possibly he started liking me). We do still talk sometimes, though... Hee hee, I'm pretty hopeless. :D
-
Hey, guys, don't decide on a firm opinion of Misa until after you've seen episode 21! :)
Okay, okay. You're right. Misa is starting to show symptoms of posessing a brain. Even though she's still
just doing everything to please Light.
:animeswea Anyway, episode 21 was pretty exciting. :p Now we know
who the Yotsuba Kira is
, and it was certainly a surprise to see
Rem approach Misa again.
And it IS really nice to see
Misa starting to show some intelligence, and do some stuff independently.
Things are getting interesting. Can't wait to see what'll happen next. It is pretty amazing though, how much this series has changed since the beginning. It gives off a completely different atmosphere now, in my opinion.
-
Oh, wow. That new OP is the best thing since Alice in Wonderland. :D Love the L spinning and eating sweets thing. The screaming Light thing just weirds me out, but hey, that's a good thing. :p Kind of hate the screaming music, though... Anyway, episode 20 was okay. Not my favorite episode. Although, I'd have to say my favorite part was
L saturating his tea with sugar
. :animeswea Heh heh, that boy is gonna have diabetes in a major way... I agree with Sandy about Misa. She was particularly annoying in this episode. :animeswea
to medafunk: Sounds like something i kind of have called autism. I'm kind of in a strong denial that i might have something that sounds like that when i checked some of the symptoms. Some of the big ones i have are, extreme shyness, unable to make eye contact, may not hold a conversation well or studdering, using hand motions instead of words, and may prefer to be alone. I do have friends, but a lot of times i feel pretty alone. Well personally, it really sucks to feel this way. I really noticed when i figured out i lost about three possible girlfriends to other guys by not being "assertive" enough. I like a lot of the advise said in this thread and i'm defiantly keep those in mind.
Hmmm... Well, I did a little research on the topic, and I don't really think autism is a problem I have. Am I shy? Absolutely, but not nearly as shy as I was as a kid. I HAVE improved a bit. Well, I improved in Junior High, and it feels like it got a little worse since then, but hey--we all have our ups and our downs. I'm not bad at holding conversations, once they've been started, and as for "unable to make eye contact", this was something I was a little uncomfortable doing before, but I think I've been cured of that. I've never been one to stutter either. More like just mumble when I'm not particularily confident in my opinion... Hand motions? I've never really talked with my hands. And being alone... Yeah, sometimes I like to be alone, but if I didn't go to school everyday and see people then... I think I'd go crazy. :animeswea I'm fine with people I like, and have stuff in common with. When it comes to people I know, but am not particulary crazy about, or don't have anything in common with, I have a lot of trouble talking to them. My ability to make conversation also stems from my mood, which I'm sure is true for everybody. As for me saying that I'm "really socially challenged"... heh heh, I was being really dramatic. I didn't expect anyone to take me really literally. Retribution said, "All he needs to do is force himself to talk to people and eventually he'll feel more comfortable in social situations." Yeah, this IS the solution, but it's not easy to just "force" yourself. I've been trying to do that, and sofar have not been successful. Really, I just have a problem with NEW PEOPLE. I just don't know how to approach them. If they approach me, I'm absolutely fine to talk to them, but I'm not great at starting conversations, except for with people I'm fairly comfortable with. Also, I'm an above average student, and my social development as a child was normal (even if I was shy). I'm shy and self-consious. It's an unfortunate flaw in my personality that I am fighting to overcome. :animeswea Not autism. I'm not convinced that you have autism either, but, of course, I don't know you. I can relate to to your problems, though. I think a lot of insecurity like this just comes with the territory of being a teenager... Hopefully things will improve. Anyway, I'm rambling on about myself, and I feel it is not my place. Sorry cancer!
-
Sorry tachiKC, but I'll take this one. Here's my version of your character, Dhampir, and my own character right beside it. Enjoy. :D
-
So, I can really relate to this. That's basically exactly what I'm like, except worse. I'm REALLY socially challenged. It's really hard for me to just talk to people, sometimes even with people I already know. Its not that I'm really afraid of what they'll think of me---I know they're not going to think anything THAT bad, and it doesn't really matter if they do. There's really only one person who I can talk to without having to think or being nervous (other than my family, of course). It seems I just have this irrational fear of...something. I don't even know. I'm just really shy. I keep telling myself rational things in my mind, yet I never actually take my own advice. When it comes down to the actual talking part, I just don't know what to say, and I'm afraid of awkward silences...then I'll turn all red, and never want to show my face around them ever again. So, since it seems I'm worse off than you are, I don't think I can be much of a help. I don't know if I can be helped either, since I already KNOW the solution, but I can't bring myself to do it. :animeswea Hopefully I'll be able to get over this someday, because there for sure have been times that I've wanted to talk to someone, but I guess I just missed out on those friendships. :animedepr I guess I'll just have to get a little more motivated...
