I'm not into a lot of J-pop... Mostly J-rock... But I do enjoy Ayumi Hamasaki and Utada Hikaru... I'm not sure what catagory they would fall under but I also like L'arc En Ciel a LOT! :animenose
Oh yeah is HiHi Puffy Ami Yumi Considered rock or j-pop?
Personally... I would consider them J-pop :animeswea Just my opinion though

Hm I like Hikaru Utada and Ayumi Hamasaki enough but I prefer the pillows and Angela much much more. I only like some of Hamasaki's techno songs like Heartplace and for Utada I enjoy Hikari~ from Kingdom hearts, Why, Deep River and First Love. I love her voice but for some reason, most of the actual music annoys me.

the pillows are pretty well known thanks to FLCL and well I haven't found a song by them that I don't love yet. The rank very high on my favorite bands actually. Some of you may remember Angela from Soukyuu no Fafner and Stellvia. They aren't as well known yet but I hope they will be, the single Asu E No Brilliant Road is beautiful, I love the lead singer's voice.

Also I love Rie Fu, again known for the Bleach ending theme Life is Like a Boat. FAKE? Is very interesting too from what I've heard, I'd like to hear more of their music. Orange Range is also a good band. So those are my recs.

I dunno if this is considered J-Pop, but I like Asian Kung Fu Generation (mainly from the opening song of Naruto "Haruka Kanata') and TM Revolution. I also like two ending themes of Kenshin, the opening of Hellsing, opening of Witch Hunter Robin, opening of DNAngel, openings and endings of Get Backers and the majority of the songs off Gravitation.

I just don't know whose done them.

YAY! YAY! YAY! A topic I can really get into.

hmmm what can I say about J-Pop and anime music. Hmmm let me whip out all my old music.

So far I have fallen in love with Utada Hikaru, Orange Range for both their work with Naruto and Bleach( I love ths song asterisk, the 1st OP for Bleach), UVERworld for D-technolife (Bleach song also), BoB and Ayumi Hamaski, and Do As Infinity. TRANSTIC NERVE... I love this band. Especially their song Ever Free... ITS GREAT!

Oooh what about Gackt! AWESOME or Dur en Ciel..they're good along with many more!

Now for artists who arent Japanese who are popular in Japan... My ultimate I must say is ORiga...the lady who sung the them for GITS: SAC, Inner Universe. This song is just great and it gives me chills whenever I listen to it.

I think I will leave it at that for now..Besides Id overwhelm you guys with the many artists I could name

Actually her first English album has been released in the states, under her fist name Utada/ I heard it and it took me a while to get used to it. But I then remembered the style she has grown into thru her profession as a Japanese singer and it reminds me alot of that style. I love it....

Ohh if you want to check out some of her songs for yourself I suggest you look these up.

Easy Breezy
Devil Inside
You make me want to be a man
Exodus '04
The Workout

P.S its released in Europe the 26th of this month. YAY!

One should never miss any opportunity to show love and awe for the wonderful Maaya Sakamoto. Yep. Whoever discovered that girl's wonderful singing ability deserves snaps. *snaps*

Since some of us have already mentioned artists under the rock genre, how's about adding one more: Porno Graffitti. Melissa was addicting, so was Ai ga Yobuhou e. Though the two songs sound completely different, I can't help but notice Porno Graffitti's amusing style/flair (for lack of better words) in both of them.

Yes! More angela love! :catgirl:

I'm almost desperate to hear their version of the Nadesico OP ("You Get to Burning") and the Evangelion OP ("Cruel Angel Thesis"). I've been told that both covers are excellent, and of course I would expect nothing less from my favorite J-Pop band. If they ever come to a con near me, I might actually be motivated to brave the crowds and attend.

Ahh! They did covers? I want to hear those too, if you find them please tell me. My friend saw them at a con and said they were amazing. I wish I could see them but I've never even been to a con =/ Of course if I heard that angela was going to be there I might have to...they really are amazing.
