Do shonen manga artist do everything by themselves?

[font="Comic Sans MS"]Most of them have apprentices/assistants to help with art and backgrounds and such. A lot of these helpers are studying to become mangaka themselves, actually. Their editors also typically get a say in certain plot points from time to time.

Fun Fact: Eiichiro Oda, author of the ongoing Shonen manga [b]One Piece[/b], used to apprentice under Nobuhiro Watsuki, who wrote [b]Rurouni Kenshin[/b] and [b]Buso Renkin[/b], among other things. Watsuki has included references to Oda's work in some of his stories, like the Straw Hat flag appearing on a cannonball in a later arc of RuroKen, and he's also drawn the main characters of [b]One Piece[/b] in his own style.[/font]
