Say hello to my first poem that ISN'T a haiku! As I, the Archangel, sit here at my post, assigned to me by the figures of lore, I watch and I wonder, I sit and I ponder, What is it all for? The fighting, the blood, the never-ending slaughter; Can't they see they're drowning in their own pietous water Of hate and destruction? It brings me to tears, the endless decay of man over years. As I, the Archangel, sit here at my post, assigned to me by the figures of lore, He is now here; They suffer no more. Opinions? Hitokiri Battosai

If you're looking for a good haiku, read my post "More Haiku from the Wandering Samurai". What? There's absolutely nothing wrong with shameless self-advancement and the loss of inhibition. :bluesweat:

Gaming Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2.... Looks horrible...
Shinken replied to Youko Minamino's topic in Noosphere
Honestly, it's not that bad. Sure, it could use a little fine-tuning, but the cel-shading looks pretty good. Besides, like a lot of people have said, it's really the gameplay that matters. It kind of looks to me like a PS2 version of Ultimate Battle 22. Let's just hope that it's a bit better. Hitokiri Battosai -
I just had an interesting thought; In the Matrix Trilogy, mankind is plugged into virtual reality, and, save the lucky few, mankind is unable to log out. And, in .hack//SIGN, mankind CAN log out of the VR while only one VERY unluck guy cannot log out. Anyone else notice this? Or do I just have too much time on my hands...er, mind? Hitokiri Battosai

Hey, I took Knight's advice, and wrote these haiku about nature (except for the third one, I just got inspired:idea: ). Well, here you go; 1) The songs in the wind; Nature's heartfelt expressions, speak straight to the soul. 2) The sky is falling. Catch the raindrops in my hands, outspread like dove's wings. 3) Sorrow for an act. Repentance and forgiveness; Paid for with good deeds. You likey?:blah: Hitokiri Battosai __________________

I think the movie will be good, even with Cruise in it. The action scenes that they showed during the trailer, while brief, have me a little bit anxious (Samurai dressed in full armor charging into battle against soldiers dressed like the police in Rurouni Kenshin, looks great). I also hope that the Shinsengumi make an appearance, because they are one of my favorite historical groups. And as for the title, I HOPE that by Samurai they meant it in the plural, 'cause I also believe that Cruise would not make the best samurai. I still wanna see it though. Hitokiri Battosai

A few days ago, I went to see the Matrix sequel, Matrix: Reloaded, as I am sure many others have. As I watched the upcoming movie trailers/previews, one in particular caught my attention, and it SURE wasn't "Pirates of the Carribbean" (honestly, who bases a movie off a THEME PARK RIDE!!!) *A-hem* The movie is called "The Last Samurai", and it is a film about a foreign man (Tom Cruise :nope: ) who has created a life for himself in Japan; specifically a wife and child. Unfortunately for him, he is caught in the war between the now dwindling samurai and the Meiji government (I think; it seems to me to be the same time period as Rurouni Kenshin), and he must defend his family. I was just curious, do the members of OtakuBoards like Haiku or Other forms of Poetry? And why? I prefer Haiku, as it is easier for me to express what I feel in a few simple lines than to try and drag it out over a series of lines. Hitokiri Battosai

Three Things You Just Ain't Gonna Believe...
Shinken replied to Shinken's topic in General Discussion
I didn't really find the third one that funny except for the way the radio announcer put it and reacted to it. It is very sad, and I do feel sorry for the two of them. I don't want to sound like I'm some kind of monster; I don't find their situation funny at all. It's just the way the radio guy made it sound. Hitokiri Battosai -
I was sitting on the bus this morning, and I heard some things that I will never forget on the radio... These are ALL True news stories 1)In Manila, near the Philipines, a young man commited suicide last week by leaping into the city's resovoir. But what is baffling the local police is just why he hasn't come up yet. Apparently, the kid's body is somehow STUCK to the bottom, and they haven't been able to get it out yet. And it's been a week. Now, let's not forget that this resovoir supplies water for the entire town, and the local government is saying that it is SAFE TO DRINK THE WATER!!! With a dead guy at the bottom! I'm just waiting to hear a report about someone finding a toenail in their water glass or something like that! 2) As we all know, during the war with Iraq, many of our soldiers were captured, and the Iraqis tried to extract info out of them. Well, we did the same thing, but there's one difference; It worked for us. And exactly how did we do it? We 'tortured' them by forcing them to listen to such music as Metallica's "Sandman", "Bodies" by Drowning Pool, and, get this, the themes to BARNEY and SESAME STREET! Now, if it was me, I'd thank 'em for the rock music, but it is understandable that they broke after a few hours of lovey-dovey... STUFF. And last but not least; Number 3) In some US state (not sure which), there was a 4-year old girl and her grandmother sitting in a restaraunt, eating ice cream. The grandmother got up to throw away a half-eaten ice cream and accidentally bumped into an 18-year old woman, spilling ice cream onto the woman. This apparently enraged the woman, causing her to begin screaming and swearing at the grandmother and child. Then, after a few moments of obscenities, she PUMMELED the grandmother and 4-year old kid! Not slapped, not scratched, but PUMMELED AN OLD LADY AND A TODDLER! What kind of sick **** would do that?!!! After some patrons managed to wrestle her off of the two victims, the 18-yr old made an escape, drove off in her car, and was arrested later the same day. I found these stories somewhat sad yet entertaining/hilarious. What do you think? Hitokiri Battosai

I myself am kind of like Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin as I won't back down from a fight (at least one that means anything), and I'm also kind of like Tsukasa from .hack//SIGN 'cause I'm a bit of a loner. Oh, and I'm like Vegeta, too, since I'm a bit of an elitist and am easily annoyed by stupid people. Hitokiri Battosai

Well, Shado, my wrestling friend is kinda, well, weak. You know, the scrawny pasty dude type? He can wrestle, though, as after the slapfest he proceeded to get the other kid in a headlock and roll-flip him over his shoulder. But still, slapping... :rotflmao: Hitokiri Battosai

Yeah WW2!!! I completely agree that a lot of people today have little to no sense of honor. And, as you can tell, I feel that fighting IS a necessity, especially in today's world. If you can't depend on the rest of the world, then you can only depend on yourself. It's as simple as that. SCORE: Otaku Warriors-1 Otaku Passifists (Spelling?)-0 Hitokiri Battosai

What element are you based on personality?
Shinken replied to klinanime1's topic in General Discussion
Myself, I am a mixture of most of these elements, but mostly I am fire and water. Which, at certain points in my life, may cause quite a bit of smoke. Of course, my personality is a bit ethereal as well. (in case the post title didn't give it away) Hitokiri Battosai -
Whoa, Deathbug. Slow down a minute. Parental advice-scratch that, GOOD parental advice, from MARILYN MANSON?! Holy... :wow: But on the subject, I am a gamer, and I'll admit it. I love blowing people up on Grand Theft Auto III. However, I know the difference between reality and fantasy, and I am mature enough to understand it. And I think that the video games kids play should be monitered by their parents; after all, the parents should know their children well enough to have even a slight idea as to how they will react to certain games. Now, let's look back for a second at what I said. And I quote, "the video games kids play should be monitered by their PARENTS". No, could we all just take a look at that for a second. It says PARENTS. Not GOVERNMENT. If these guys can't regulate the budget, then why should they be able to regulate what kids can and can't play/watch/listen to, especially if they don't even bother to ACTUALLY INVESTIGATE what it is that they're going to mess with. Because, as we all know, most government officials just listen to the negatives/misinterpretations, and then they go ahead and screw up other peoples lives while they sit in their mansions sipping a martini on the balcony. Hitokiri Battosai PS: In case you haven't noticed, ME NO LIKE GOVERNMENT.

This is my first haiku, so, here it goes... *inhales* To see love elsewhere, A painful experience, May be for better. *whoo* So, whaddya think? Hitokiri Battosai

I don't know about that, Heaven's Cloud. I don't think that ALL fights are stupid. If someone repeatedly picks fights with those who can't fight back as well, aka BULLY, then they need to be taught a lesson. I'm not the kind of person who condones pointless fighting, but sometimes... ACTIONS speak LOUDER than WORDS. Hitokiri Battosai PS: Heaven's Cloud, when you said that one should take martial arts not "because they want to defend themselves, or hurt people", uh... That's what martial arts are. Self-defense.

If there were mutants, I have to say I'd be envious of their powers. Unfortunately, as the comics display, this envy would eventually lead to some people seeing mutants as a supply kit that comes with powers (just read New X-Men: E is for Extinction and you'll see my point). As for how I'd treat them, I'd treat them just like anyone else; genes shouldn't have anything to do with it. If they're a good person, well alright then. But if they're some megalomaniac with an intense ego (I know a few humans like that), then I'd... well, hate is too strong a word. I'd have to say I'd just... not like them. yeah. that's it. o_O; Hitokiri Battosai

First off, this isn't a political topic, even though the title makes it appear so. But, anyways; Around the end of the school day, a fight broke out between a friend of mine and some punk. I was at the other end of the hall, and I decided to get a better look. I pushed through the crowd and just caught a glimpse of the two guys slapping each other in the face and rolling around on the ground! Sure, my friend's a wrestler, so the rolling is understandable. But SLAPPING?! That just doesn't make sense! After that fight, I began wondering; why is it that a lot of people just can't fight/defend themselves any more? I'm not the kind of person that will just up and pick a fight at any given moment, nor do I enjoy seeing others fighting (unless I really don't like them  ), but I'm just saying that people should be able to at least throw a punch or something! I mean, it took a teacher a good minute to notice the fight, and neither one had a scratch on him! Hitokiri Battosai

Anime What songs remind you of anime/manga things?
Shinken replied to wiccansamurai's topic in Otaku Central
I find that a lot of rock songs describe anime characters. For example, Godsmack's "I Stand Alone", in my opinion, could be a Vegeta themesong. Another good band is Disturbed. :demon: Saiyan Out :demon: -
I was thinking of buying a Yu-Gi-Oh game for Game Boy Advance, and I was just wondering which one is the best. (I've heard that Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel was best, but I need to hear it from the best Otakus!;)) :demon: Saiyan Out :demon:

Myself, I feel out of place with preps/snobs (who doesn't?) You know, the feeling you get when you just know that they're looking down on you, picking you apart... that sorta thing? That kinda happens to me a LOT, considering that there's a lot of those type of people in my school. Luckily, I have the same amount of friends (some of which have saved my rep/ego more than once at the hands of preps), so I guess it all evens out in the end. ;) :demon: Saiyan Out :demon:

Personally, I like the good characters that have a real mean streak. It really balances out their character, making them basically more human. Take Wolverine for example. Just take a look at X2 and you'll see what I mean. *snikt* :demon: Saiyan Out :demon:
