1.
Q: What religious symbol is seen in the last episode of Trigun "Under the sky so Blue" while Knives and Vash fire there Angel Arms at each other?
That would be a yin-yang symbol
when the arms cancel each other out.
Q: In what episode of Trigun did Meryl finally acknowledge (to Milly and herself) that she had romantic feelings for Vash?

    Trigun

Not that I want to play mod, but this entire thread needs a spoiler tag, LOL. :D As for that rumor, I wouldn't bet anything important on it LOL. I think it's a "composite" rumor (i.e. combine something that did happen with a ton of wishful thinking) since the production company for Trigun also produced another, totally unrelated aside from the space western genre, anime called "Gungrave."
As a fan of both Wolfwood and Legato, I would have preferred it if both had stayed alive throughout the series, or at least if they had had a final battle directly with each other like Vash and Knives did. Nevertheless, their death scenes were touching. . .and hey, they're still alive in more fanfictions than you can count and in the manga so far. ~.^
3. Yes! The music, the art, and the characterization are my favorite things about Cowboy Bebop-IMHO it's one of the best anime out there stylistically. I love the music and the art most of all. The music is just so good (I like "The Real Folk Blues," "Call Me, Call Me," "Rain," and so much more that I can barely count it). Since I found a site where you can get free and legal MP3 downloads of almost anything Yoko Kanno two days ago, I've just been very happy :) As for the art, that had to be one of the most well-drawn anime ever. I've often commented that if an anime had Bebop's art and Trigun's writing, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Maybe that's too rash and fangirlish, but that's my opinion. . .back on topic though, Bebop's art is just so detailed. I mean, when the neon sign on a building simply being walked by is readable, the smallest detail on Ed's computer screen is clear, and so on. . .that is great art in anime. Sorry if this post is spammy and like a blog post-it's late and I'm tired. I might come back and edit it tomorrow with some more intelligent content. :)

I see what you mean about having it on tape. And LOL, my TV is 11 years old and my VCR almost as old. The picture and sound quality on my PC (despite its loser integrated graphics card and weak speaker setup) is SO much better than my TV and VCR. I'm buying the box set as soon as I get enough money (LOL, in a few years when I can get a job or actually sell some of my writing). I want to see the subtitled, and seeing it on my PC (especially if I can also afford a graphics and sound upgrade by that time) is a treat that I'm really looking forward to. . .:tasty:  :love2:
Meryl didn't die, at least in the anime. I don't know about the manga, but in the anime she definitely did not die.
Or are you trying to say the episode
where she finally somewhat-realized she was in love with Vash
("Live Through") was very emotional? If you're saying that, I agree with you-that was one of my favorite episodes. :bawl:
  6. Oh, OK. I think I understand now. -^.^- Thanks anyway, and I apologize to anyone I offended.

Yeah, my main complaints are that they didn't do enough background on the series, (i.e. Meryl and Milly were never completely explained as characters, and neither was Legato or even Knives. Grr.) However, I still find it to be one of my favorite animes, and the fanfiction at its best can be really good because there was so much left open and left to debate. I mean, almost my entire list of favorites at fanfiction.net is post-series stories or attempts at explanations. (Sadly though, many of the newbie authors seem to think a good story consists of a Mary Sue, horribly written Wolfwood/Vash yaoi, or both) As for the spiritual allegory angle, I don't agree with that as much as some other people do, simply because I have reasons to believe that either no allegory was intended or that if it were, it was horribly botched to the point of being barely applicable (i.e. like Evangelion) I think the series needed to be longer (26 episodes were not enough. . .), to have more character development, to have a much more fluid and better animation style (i.e. Cowboy Bebop's art style would have been much better for it), and as an aside I personally think
Wolfwood and Legato both should have lived, because they were the deepest characters in the series, as well as the cutest bishounen
(LOL, fangirl opinion, hehe  ) Nevertheless, it's one of my favorite animes, and IMHO good anime. Of course, everyone has a different opinion though I do like the balance of insane humor and serious drama, the characterization on Wolfwood, the characterization on Vash, the general plot and ideas, and a lot of other things. . .I would list those but I have to leave the computer really soon.
  8. I know he's a mod, but since when is anyone allowed to have an avatar like that? It's against the board rules, it's something I really don't want to look at every time I read a thread in which he's posted, and it could open the gates for even worse avatar/banner behavior by members. Could someone ask him to change it? Even the old squashed kitty one wasn't as bad as this.
  9. Hmm, I only have secondhand knowledge of the manga and I've been told to forget a lot of conversations with one of those who's given me most of that information (~.^ you know who I'm talking about!) My guess is Trip of Death. If I was somehow right, my question is a really easy one for any of you who have watched Cowboy Bebop. What happened during Spike's, Faye's, Jet's, and Ein's hallucinations in episode 17, Mushroom Samba?
  10. Agreed: that may also be a legitimate explanation. I personally lean toward the shounen-ai/yaoi explanation myself now, but that one was the position I used to hold. IMHO, both positions are tenable, both have almost equal evidence for or against, and both could coexist or could have coexisted.
  11. Wow. . . How many times has Beck appeared so far in Big O, and in which episodes has he appeared? (titles please)
  12. ~.^ Hey, that could very well be it. ~.^ Seriously (and this is just an opinion of an L/K K/L shounen ai/yaoi addict) I think that Legato/Knives, at least in the animeverse and more so in the manga, is very possible. I mean, Legato's devotion to Knives is just so intense, and neither actually have canon love interests that they show anything toward (unlike Vash or Wolfwood, who do, at least in the anime, have somewhat-relationships with Meryl and Milly). Also, both are so sick and twisted that Legato would accept anything that Knives did to him-and enjoy it. In the mangaverse (which I'm not as familiar with) I think Knives/Legato might be somewhat implied as well. . .although I'm not sure. Sure, Knives stated how much he hated Legato in the manga, but that doesn't mean a twisted psycho like Knives wouldn't basically use his slave in that way, because it would provide both a means for destroying Legato's humanity further and yet another way to slowly, sadistically kill a "spider." In fact, I think the crushing incident would back this up: With Legato being a quadriplegic, he would no longer be able to experience any so-called pleasure from anything that happened to him, and he would be entirely unable to "fully" serve his master Knives. . .what would be a better way for Knives to torture him? Anyway, yeah, I read too much fanfic. Nevertheless, I think that this could very well be implied to be part of Legato's motivation.
  13. They came from the same orphanage. In (my mind is failing me right now as to the episode title LOL) last week's (August 31) episode of Big O, what did Dorothy say about Roger that she later stated was a joke?
  14. The calendar was a 1996 calendar, yet the series was set in 2014. In Cowboy Bebop, why exactly was Faye frozen at the age of 20, 50 years before the time in which the series was set?
  15. I haven't seen the ending yet, watching it for the first time. I've already had the ending spoiled for me elsewhere, so I have some ideas on it. . .-^.^- However, I want to watch the ending for myself before I comment on it in full. -^.^- (oops, I misspelled my post:blush: )
  16.
If you really want to write yaoi, don't use characters that are obviously (or at least very likely) heterosexual.
This heavily offends me too. I mean, I'm actually a fan of Legato/Knives and even some Legato/Midvalley yaoi, but like I said, Wolfwood/Vash makes me want to throw up. I mean, those characters are very likely heterosexual (at least in the anime, in that Vash is a flirt to the extent of being perverted and that Wolfwood was obviously involved with Milly to *some* extent) Not all shounen ai or even yaoi is necessarily porn, however the porn writing vastly outweighs the better stuff (i.e. in-character fics exploring serious if controversial/uncomfortable ideas, parody that's actually funny, serious relationships) and the yaoi fanart images are exclusively porn because they leave nothing to the imagination, leave nothing implied.
  17. LOL, I once was reading a list online about all the mistakes in Trigun, it was kind of funny. Among them (that I can remember at this time): "How did they DO that": The setting is supposed to be a planet where water and farming are scarce things, yet there seems to be an inexhaustible supply of alcohol in almost every town (or at least until Vash and Wolfwood get there ~.^ ) But wait. . .one needs LOTS of water as well as lots of hops, barley, etc to make a small amount of alcohol. "Stupid Sheriff": In episode 12, the sheriff in the town where Vash is thrown in jail seems to know who he is and of the bounty on him, yet only insists on keeping him in jail rather than turning him in for the $$60 billion. "Miracle Suit or Varied Wardrobe?" In some episodes, Wolfwood's suit is dark blue. In others it is navy blue. And in others, it's dark black. If I can find the others, I'll dig them up for you and post them. . .
  18.
Yeah, it's pretty clear that he did indeed die. However, considering the theme of "living in a dream" that was so common in the series, and that Spike survived his first "death" at the hands of Vicious, that could well be a different way to interpret it, that he somehow survived that one too.
Will we see a sequel series with him as the main character?
Probably not, but with the popularity of the first and the possible money to be made from a sequel series, one never knows.
19. I'm 19. While I agree that kids shouldn't be watching these animes (I once saw a professed nine year old discussing Cowboy Bebop on a messageboard, ), I also don't see a reason why anime should be banned from TV unless it's heavily edited, childish tripe like Pokemon. There are plenty of good websites out there (Anime Cafe Parent's Guide To Anime http://www.abcb.com/parents/index.htm is one of the best, although they need to update with new titles and a new review for some old ones) and many other places to look up information. Ignorance of anime or its content is really no excuse for demanding that all anime be banned from the airwaves because some isn't good for kids. I personally think that parents need to be a little more responsible. Your kid under 13? Don't let him/her have a TV in his/her room. Also, I'd suggest that rather than such reactionariness, parents be proactive about media, whether it be anime, movies, games, whatever. Rather than setting up a list of "good and bad," and starting these quixotic crusades (which makes what's "bad" become really attractive) it would be better for everyone if parents simply taught their children the difference between fiction and reality, and did what was necessary to keep them from things they simply aren't ready for yet. One last point to this rant LOL: I am absolutely sick of whiners and the mentality that everyone is entitled to a life where they must take no responsibility, do no work, be shielded from anything that could offend their sensibilities, and sue should they be offended, work, or actually have to take responsibility. ^sigh^
  20.
Originally posted by Tical If your calling those couples yaoi your insulting anime! But I agree you never know when a bunch of yaoi come to this site.
Hey, didn't you even READ my post? I said that those couples (with the exception of L/K which I mentioned as possibly yaoi) were not yaoi in my opinion. You totally misunderstood my post. :tasty:
  21. I'm not 100 percent anti-yaoi anymore (I really think Knives/Legato is a good pairing, so don't sue me ~.^) however I agree with you on some of the other fan couples. Kenshin/Sanosuke, Vash/Wolfwood, Spike/Jet, and even Heero/Duo REALLY annoy me, and I detest those pairings. These characters are friends, co-workers, whatever but NOT lovers, and to add yaoi to their relationships cheapens rather than deepens the story.
  22.
Originally posted by maladjusted I don't know what you're trying to say. Are you saying this thread is intellectually deficient or the article about the lady hating FLCL? ::shrugs:: It's not like the lady is going to win. I did a search on Google and nothing appeared about it on the first page. It's just some dinky little article at a website I've never heard of before.
I was saying that anyone who would sue over FLCL (or any other currently televised anime for that matter) is being intellectually deficient (as well as a major league whiner). By the way, the reason we have the inconsistant edits of today on CN is because of a lawsuit. Some parents and (not sure about this) possibly Focus on the Family) sued CN a while back for airing Vampire Hunter D uncut.
  23. That's just fan speculation. . .before you attribute it to anything in the anime or manga per se. -^.^-
  24. Because it looked like one? LOL, I have no idea. Was it in episode 9? I just saw that. . .yay for forgetfulness. [strike]In episode 14 of Big O, what was Roger in his alternate existence?[/strike] Milliefan, you did not know the answer to the last question so your question is invalid. -Shy
  25. And those questions were answered earlier in this thread. As for Legato's loyalty to Knives, the only hint as to why in the anime is that Knives gave him Vash's arm. The manga goes a little deeper into that Legato had some kind of preexisting religious devotion to Knives. Basically, for some reason, Legato is Knives's slave. Technically, Vash's arm is the only connection between Knives and Legato. Speculatively, the motivations for Legato's loyalty include everything from an abusive past to a romantic attraction to Knives and any possible combination of those and other factors.
