1. The one post per person was a glitch left over from when I borrowed the code from the FA site. I've since removed it.
2. Good point, comment limit removed.
3. Sorry I didn't get to your post Pyro, I've disabled HTML in subjects until myO v2 goes live (because of the glitch you pointed out). With myO v2 you'll be able to specify the color/font/size properties of all your subjects. (So no more copy and pasting.) As per your suggestion, I've also cut the number of posts in modify posts down to 5 per page. I hope this helped. -Adam
4. Chocobo, you must've visited the site while I was doing the layout transition (it lasted a good 1-2 hours). Are you still experiencing cut-off text and the like?
5. Ah, some background on the mp3 thing. With myO v2, we developed a script that lets the user click a button to listen to music. This is because the default control panel for music depends on whether the user has QuickTime or Windows Media Player. (And it was impossible from a design view to make the Media Player control panel look and work right...) And the button system we developed only works with midis. Another reason I put a file extension guard was because I did some research and about half of all users who put music on their page, rather than typing out a midi, would type out things like: "theOtaku.com Midi" or "DragonBall Z Theme" or nonsense like that. (Which obviously wouldn't work.) -Adam
6. I've decided to significantly increase the limit to 1,500...I think this is a pretty fair number. I did a spot-check on some members with a lot of buttons and saw that they had roughly this number of characters anyway. By choosing your buttons more carefully and by limiting white space, I think hitting this target won't be difficult. Is all well in the jungle? My concern really isn't with OB members' sites with this limit. Rather, we have a tremendous number of very young members and I want to limit the room for error with their sites. (That's part of good design.)
7. You can now put things in quotes in your profile and they won't disappear. Also, I imposed a 600 character limit for introductions...Some of you with 44,000 characters might suffer as a result of this, but I think it's very necessary.
8. Keep the suggestions coming. I'm going to be implementing changes to myOtaku on a piece-by-piece basis. Everything should be finished by the end of this month. For random member, I made a few tweaks so that it now only displays random members who've updated within the last 24 hours. Good?
9. In the version I currently am tinkering with, the add comments feature is pretty close to what we use with our Fan Art site (as in the comments + comment box pop up - is this cool?) I agree, the subject feature is quite horrid and will be dropped.
10. Hey, As we continue to work on myOtaku version 2.0, I'd like to open the table to user feedback. What are the additions you MOST want to see? Ideally, I'm most interested in fixing nagging annoyances over adding huge new features. I believe strongly in the fact that great sites continually evolve and improve, rather than just mindlessly add new sections and features. For example, one annoyance for me that I fixed in myO version 2.0 was I hated how there was a separate link to both sign and view guestbooks. It required too many clicks for my taste. Please put as many things that 'nag' you as possible about the current site. If we make the change you put down (that we didn't think of before), you'll definitely get credit when we relaunch for suggesting that. (Good for site traffic.) Thanks! -Adam
11. Please read theOtaku.com's main page carefully and give me your thoughts here about a potential myOtaku.com name change before we relaunch to version 2.0 Thanks, -Adam
12. Ah, noted. We recently upgraded the programming for otaku life, I guess this was a side effect...
13. So Tokyo was really cool. The sushi was great, Akihabara was ridiculous - every other store was anime or video games - Harajuku made me smile (thanks wrist cutter), and the culture was interesting. (I especially like Japanese commercials.) So, all-in-all, a great city. Not as expensive as I thought it'd be either - I think it's because the dollar is so strong against the yen right now.
14. So I'm going on a business-related trip to Tokyo soon. I've never been before, so I was wondering if the more experienced Japanese travelers on the boards had any suggestions for cool places to visit, exclusive stuff to buy, things to do, etc. I won't get THAT much time to explore on my own, but I'll definitely have some. :D
15. Most HTML is disabled in comments. Also, I think with myOtaku v2, we're going to drop the 'quotes' area. It's causing too many problems...
16. 1. To delete an avatar, simply re-upload another one, it should replace the old one. 2. When we upgrade myOtaku, style editing will become quite enhanced. ^_^ 3. pending
17. Very weird because just the fact that the text is switching between 'hide' and 'display' means it should be working fine. Both your results are set to 'off' now by the way.
18. Yeah, not possible...you know that's the reason we made it so you have to re-enter all your information before you can delete...
19. I deleted the javascript from the intro and it's working again.
20. It uses javascript to launch the page. If you have javascript disabled on your computer, it won't work. GB - yeah, that's something I think is important too. This is a very new feature so we'll be tweaking things.
21. Mars is the most responsive, sacrificing, and talented web programmer I've ever come across. But he is very, very eccentric and anti-social.
22. In case you haven't seen theOtaku.com's main page, our fan art site now supports art-specific comments. Thoughts?
23. Don't feel stupid Strike... We added that feature yesterday. ^_^
