1.
Originally posted by Jaclyn The dub is sad, when the Japanese version is about a half hour long, they end up cutting more than half of it out... :(
Yeah, it is sad. I mean, I looked at the dub official site, and what's their excuse for starting on episode 9? Well now, according to Nelvana, they starting episode 1 as the japanese episode 9, and dubbed ep 2 as japanese ep12 becuase according to a poll taken by the 'customers', everyone wanted to see more of Li, so they just chopped out all those first parts. Oh, that's all right. We really didn't need to know how Sakura met Kero, how she caught fly and all those other cards, or where the heck Sakura got the clow cards and got into being a cardcaptor. Don't mind us, the REAL viewers who don't need stupid little morals tacked onto every episode, or the viewers who will actually be able to sit through a show with a story line, not simply action. So I just want to thanks Nelvana for absolutely killing CCS for the English viewers. *cough* Whoo! Sorry about that, just had it in me an awful long time, and I just had to type it out. ^^:blulaugh:
2.
Originally posted by Rick Hunter Anime strictly comes from Japan! Batman and Power Puff girls are both animated and produced by americans therefore those two shows are just cartoons not anime!
Exactly!!!! Why does Toonami have Superman and Batman with it? Because CN's plain STUPID!! That's why! With all the anime out there they could get rights for, you'd think they wouldn't have to play non-anime in the miniscule time slot reserved for ANIME. :flaming: I hate that. They take off all the good shows, then play shows that aren't even anime! I'd much rather watch reruns of sailormoon and Gundam Wing than some Batman or Superman show.....:demon:
3.
Originally posted by Toki-chan The bums at my school made us watch it in ENGLISH, idiots, so I hated it. I dunno if it's good or not because of them... Anyway, if you're gonna get it, get it in Japanese. On a side note, for all you Final Fantasy Eight fans out there: Doesn't Orphen look JUST LIKE Squall? He's the spitting image!!
I totally disagree with that. I think the english version was done very well. I liked the dubbed Orphen, they even bothered to get real children voices instead of using the same one as the "adult" orphen. And the dub followed pretty closely. I have the dvd's, so I've compared the subbed version to the dubbed version. ANYWAYS....actually, I don't really have anything else to say...*scratches head, then pushes 'submit reply'*
4. I only speak English and Spanish:cross: Next year I'm going to take French, and probably continue with that for the next 4 years.
5. The anime is way better than the PS2 game. The dub of orphen is actually good, too. I think the voices were matched pretty well. Except maybe Majic....I don't like Spike Spencer's voice for him...it just sounds weird. I bought the PS2 game after seeing the anime, and it really wasn't the same....
6. CCS is so cute. ^^ The dub DOES suck, though. It's more of a summary of the japanese version than a dubbed version.:cross:
7. I love Orphen. It was soooo good. I deffinitely recommend it. I hate sharing with my brother. He doesn't understand that most anime isn't kid friendly.... But Orphen's not bad. There's some swearing, and I believe on the second DVD, there's a brief slice of a nude-shot or something, but it's not major. It's pretty good, especially if he's already 12, so it really shouldn't matter. There's nothing really bad in it, and it's not really that bloody, are you sure it's Orphen? I can barely remember any violence and blood (actually, there was some, but not as much as you make it sound like..)O.o
8. Wow. That's a long time. Well, if we're not all blown up by invading aliens or something, then technology will change so much, nothing will be even close to this. This site probably won't be here that long. It's a site, not an heirloom. And I'll be like 60 or 70 then....so....no. Don't think I'll still be here. Hoping to have kids, a job, a house o.O......ya know, all that junk.
9. I have a MediPlay store across town from me, and they have a good selection of Anime. Lots of series on DVD, but not many boxsets or anything, and it's pretty expensive. Just the other day I found a whole new section there with anime statues, wall scrolls, and special anime vid games. Nothing good enough to buy, though. I have another book store right by MediaPlay with tons of manga, so I go there for that. I've also got the AnimeNation store about an hour away, but I haven't gotten around to going there yet. Gotta save up some $$ first so I can have an anime shopping spree. ^^
10.
Originally posted by tethsuo shima ITS BECAUSE THEY ARE RESUMING LIKE 20 TO 30 CHAPTERS FROM THE MANGA SERIES:lecture: :lecture: :modrod:
Resuming? You mean they're trying to cramp all those chapters into that little DVD? Ack. I heard the manga is REALLY good. I wish they translated it....I really don't like having to go online and stuff just to be able to read it....:worried:
11.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka That is NOT awesome...Piro you BETTER be glad you have alot of self control because if I found out you were messing around....*slides her finger across her throat and then points at him* Yeah, that's what'll happen!!! Nah, I'm just joking. I don't like guys who are perverts, so I avoid those kind of situations, and I wouldn't put myself out like those girls do because that's just slutty and why would you want to be like that? To get people to like you? Geez, this world is so screwed over...
I agree completely. All the girls at my school present themselves like little sluts. And the all the guys go crazy. I would like just one guy who didn't go in for that. It's so disgusting. The world IS screwed over......:demon:
12. Gah! I was all ready to watch it last night, and then I had a friend over. She's not into anime, but I got her into it, so we were watching Fushigi Yuugi and I didn't remember the special lineup till it was over!!!!! I'm so mad! Are they continuing at the same time next saturday, or was this special? I can't remember....
13. I have an account, and some neopets, but I never go there anymore. Like people said before, too overcrowded. It's so slow now, and the food and such is almost always gone. It's just a pain.:cross:
14. I'm in 8th grade, too, and I can read the subtitles fine, and still see the animation. That's not what I'm talking about. I just don't like subbed, but there's nothing wrong with it, just my preference. ^^ So many people think you're not really an anime fan if you watch dubbed, and I don't get this. I know it's a bit altered then, but I hate to break it to you guys, but Anime stand for Japanese animation. It has nothing to do with voices. Just because it's dubbed doesn't mean it's not anime anymore. So you can all stop acting prejudice against dubbies. >.
15. Mermaid's scar, and Princess Mononoke. Mermaid's scar was soooooo good. ^^
16. Okay, I remember another rather painful incident now, although it's nothing compared to all your stories. When I was like 4, I was at my grandmother house, and my mom told me and my older cousin to fold up the bed. (It was the kind that's a couch, and then you pull it into a bed...it's got lots of springs and stuff...) Anyways, I was little, so being the stupid child I was, I was "helping", although my cousin didn't know I was, really. She folded up the bed, and my finger was in it, and it folded my finger at the nail and the skin by it. It's still dented all the way through the nail, and the skin's folded, too. Stipud grandmother didn't think I need stitches for it. :angry2: Now I have t get plastic surgery to fix it. Like that's really gonna happen......>.<
17. I dunno if I'm gonna watch the new series. I'm getting pretty sick of Batman now. I liked Batman Beyond, though, so.....^^
18. Either one would be, erm, interesting..... Fortunately, I really haven't had any really serious injuries. The worst I've had, in my opinion, is when I sliced my ankle. My brother had been playing on this scrawny tree, and the limbs snapped, so my dad let me help him saw down the stubs. It was one of those rigid, hand saws. After we cut them, I was still holding the saw, and I reached down just for the saw to swivel in my hand and slice my ankle open. Cuts are the worst injuries I've had, actually. Once I opened my dad's tool kit he got for christmas, and took out the razor blade (the extendable blade kind). I didn't know which way it opened, and held it the wrong way. I pushed the knob the extend the blade, and it slices through the middle of my hand. ^^;; I know, smart. By the way, shouldn't this be in stories?
19.
Originally posted by Rick Hunter Here is an example that will prove your theory wrong, first off I know more than one anime that is dubbed in which the womens voice are even more high pitched. Evidence A: Mihoshi from Tenchi Muyo has a high pitched voice in both voice tracks Evidence B: Sailor Moon English Dub also has way too many high pitched voices The reason why many people like it subbed is because it is not altered or tainted in anyway and it really is the way anime was meant to be watched. English Dub versions of anime even the ones that claim to be fully uncut do happend to cut parts out or alter the story ideas. I guess it depends on how you like watching it personally I find watching the Subbed version better but on many occassions I have to watch both tracks to make a fair anime review on the series or movie!
It wasn't really a theory, it's just that the sub voices are usually higher than the dub ones, but I know, not always. Even if the anime is slightly edited, the main plots usually doesn't change gigantic amounts like you all make it out to be. Now, I dunno about SailorStars when they dub it. The plot may actually change a fair bit. >_< But I get your point, Rick. It was so funny, I always make my own voices when reading, and when I watched Sailor Stars subbed, I actually forgot it was in japanese....from time to time. But I still prefer dubbed. Now I'm actually not quite sure why.....:therock:
20.
Originally posted by \¤~NoodleZ~¤/ Then reregister..I dare ya!
He could reregister, and it wouldn't delete the Forte account. So really, he could go back to Forte anytime he wanted. No big deal there....
21. This is sad, but I barely ever listen to the new music. I can't remember the last time I turned on the radio. I mostly listen to my anime music.... I also like stuff like Third eye blind, sugar ray, goo goo dolls.....but don't get me wrong, I don't like backstreet boys or britney spears or anything....*shiver* No offense to anyone.
22. Well, my name's Amiboshi.....because he's just cool, and he's my favorite character. Even though I have all these other favorites characters, Amiboshi has just always stayed with me, so I made it my name. Plus, I really hated my name on the last board. ssjL.....it was just DUMB.
23. Well, until it's closed, my MSN name is ls88@msn.com No one has MSN >.< But I love it!
24. this is a weird way to do awards. It only matters which one people like the most. I know that's what awards are for, but you know what I mean. If you just Loooooove NGE, of course that will be the one with the best plot, characters, quotes, and sub. People just dive for what they happen to be most into, usually. Nevermind. I'm just gonna stop typing. This didn't even make sense to me.......:therock:
25. I have a question for all you subbies (subbed-fans)....why? What's so great about it being subbed, beside the fact that it's not editied. I mean....just to me, japanese voices never seem to fit characters. Anime peoples always look so american, the ***. voices are always REALLY high, or really low, or it's just weird. It doesn't sound like the voice that person would have. An american person speaking japanese would still sound like an american person.
