Hmmm, this looks familar. *searches the Caturday Thread* I can't find it. It's like the picture I used just disappeared and reappeared in your post Des.:animesmil But anyways in a general defense of the staff. They seem pretty laid back about a lot of things, but will generally just mod you for incoherency. I dunno, my experience anyway. As for they state of OB, Like Indi pointed out, is really just up to user base themselves. The info kiosk doesn't really have that much traffic, but in my opinion is a sign that OB is in pretty good shape technically. As for the theater and just putting my own twist to what Indi said. All the old RPs aren't going anywhere, because it would be simply tragic if all that hard work just one day disappeared. The best way for new RPs is just getting the word out. Inform all the people on OB and TheO who you think will remotely be interested in what would be going on in the Theater. Have ideas for your own RP? You are going to have to pitch it like it's the second coming of the internet:p

A very sneaky trick indeed, but I guess this worked out better for me anyway. I always had an idea that I wanted to be an air-bender, but I could never choose from being the werecar Bender Rodriguez or the golden version:animedepr.

I clicked this thread thinking it would be about Futurama:animedepr. Since I'm here, I guess I would probably be an air-bender. why? It probably is the least destructive which would probably compliment my more passive side. My biggest reasons though are becoming more agile running as fast as the wind, riding an air scooter, and flying with a glider. Water bending came close, because of the whole ice surfing thing Katara does sometimes, but really isn't enough to win me over.

. . . I've seen Tay Zonday about six times while I was just walking around my college. Around the third time I passed him, I think he started to recognize me and give me the look of "I bet he knows me from Chocolate Rain" look. So basically, I'm too shy to say hi:animedepr. has anyone else had an experience like this?

I?m currently watching Wolverine and the X-men. I was scared that this would turn into another Martin Mystery or Kappa Mikey, but this show turned out to go beyond my expectations. It might knock down the original animated series, but I?m just going to wait till a season or two before I make my judgment. One thing I?m still not that used to in Wolverine and the X-men is that Wolverine is pretty much leading the group. Well I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since his name is in the title. I never really liked Cyclops, but I respected him enough to be the one calling the shots and flying the Black Bird. Another show I am watching is That 70?s Show. I never really got into this show during the original airing. Now that re-runs are on three different channels, I guess it was only a matter of time before I find a time that it?s the only interesting thing on. After watching a good amount of episodes, I can say I like it, but regret missing out when the show had buzz.

Oh candy is truly a marvel. Giving candy and sharing it has to be one of the greatest acts of kindness anyone could do. It?s snowing a lot right now, and I still plan on going to the store and getting some later on today. I?m willing to try any new candy or novelty one I can come across, but my favorites would have to be caramel, peach rings, Hawaiian Punch jelly beans, and my most favorite the original tropical Starbursts. I think the pina colada ones are ok, but couldn?t hold a candle to the tropical punch ones they replaced. Well I still love candy, but I promised myself after high school that I would ease up on it to keep my future health in mind, and overall I feel a little better since, but I can still find myself with a jumbo pack of whatever not far from my side.
Also, I'll end this with a funny story. The mix up about her name being 'Caroline' instead of Coraline in the movie was really funny to me because I tried to tell a friend about this movie, and she was swearing that I had the name of it wrong and that it was called 'Caroline'. XD
I remember when my girlfriend pointed out something like this when we were in line for our tickets. A father was buying tickets for his children. He said, “1 adult and 2 kids for Caroline”, where his daughter kind of lashed out and said, “no, it’s Coraline”. I thought it pretty funny, because I can relate to the father. Before this weekend, I haven’t really heard to much talk about this movie other than that it’s just good. I heard some commercials that this would be the last chance to catch it in 3d, so I dragged my girlfriend along to a big name theater at a mall. Overall this movie is just great: music, visuals, characters, story, and is clearly the best movie in 3d (really, how many are there?). My favorite character is defiantly the cat. Granted though, it was a little darker than I expected it to be. This drew me in a little more, but I started to feel sad when I saw a little teary eyed young one walk away with a parent to not be seen again. Along with the creepiness, I found it to be a pretty deep story, where I’m sure I missed a few themes here and there. A movie I would like buy and look into some synopses later. My girlfriend also enjoyed the movie, but feels she has to stress how scary the movie was to her and also the scene that took gravity defying breasts to a new low that probably shouldn’t belong in a PG movie. I just remembered I have crap under my bed. -My prized shoebox of 90?s Beast Wars and Beast Machine Transformers toys. - A red/black backpack and a tan Pokemon backpack from elementary school. - A deflated basketball. - A broken Razor scooter. - A nasty dust ridden sock. - A crap load of dust also. - A magic eye and I-spy book. - An emergency flood lamp with no batteries. If you are interested in Chrono Trigger, you might also be interested in the World End With You. I just got done making this playlist for my special someone for this weekend. What I have actually been listening a lot lately is the song played during a Skate 2 commercial Icne Icne by Selda. It?s cool, especially the guitar riff. My mix for V-day. 1. Happy Valentine?s Day ? Outkast 2. Smiley Faces ? Gnarls Barkley 3. Make My Day ? Common 4. The Last Time ? Gnarls Barkley 5. Tropical ? AtomicInc. Yep, Techno in a Valentine?s mix. That?s how I roll. 6. DayDreamin? ? Lupe Fiasco feat. Jill Scott 7. Foxey Lady ? Jimi Hendrix 8. Love Song ? 311 9. Morris Brown ? Outkast 10. Chronomentrophobia ? Outkast 11. Feel Good Icc. ? Gorillaz 12. Jammin ? Bob Marley 13. Three Little Birds ? Bob Marly

I’m also a little late to this myself. I really do have bad luck. This was completely the wrong week for my internet to be unpaid. A lot of good points have been brought up that have changed my viewpoint from a slight indifference to favoring having proper casting. This is just one of those situations where I would hope race didn’t matter, but it just does unfortunately. Ignoring an injustice probably wasn’t the best way of me looking at this situation. At this point, this issue even brought about a spin-off thread and derailed the conversation of this thread away from the animated series itself, but oh well. I have to agree that the Avatar shouldn’t be dressed up to be turned into a big potential Hollywood blockbuster, but an honest live action interpretation, which I think the story and the casting was at stake. In that sense, an imagined cultural fantasy should probably best be represented by the nationalities it was based upon. Changing the characters to look like the “audience” so that it can relate to the cast is never a good decision. I have to also agree that we do have a huge diversity in the US alone where it’s not an issue of unavailability. The Avatar in my opinion was probably the most epic American animated series in scope and scale, which will be a hard task to fit in a few movies. I don’t know if the honest intension of this movie was to recreate the spirit of the show into a movie or just become a quick cash-in on a recent popular series. Sadly, it might most likely be the later. I’m disappointed that this may also be the fate of many more shows I’m a fan of and love. Just curious, am I the only one that finds it interesting that L from Death Note is English, but played by an Asian actor in the live action?

I didn't think this was worthy of another thread, but I'm not really fond of a lot of cartoon and anime series being turned into live action movies as if this is the only way that they can be taken as serious. I feel this way mainly with Akira and Cowboy Bebop, which I really don't think the spirit of the shows can be done justice in live action. Maybe in the drama, but probably not in the visual eye-candy. Then also comes the controversies of the casting. First a white Goku, a yellow Piccolo, and I guess now the upcoming Avatar movie. Me personally am not offended, since I know they are not trying to do something like deliberately making fun of a nationality. I'm happy that we came a long way since black face, but I guess there are still some shady areas. I know the Avatar is based on Asian culture, but also is a fantasy world. This doesn't excuse it, but I don't think you can hold too much against them.
So I covered most of the characters. But what about Azula? Anyone want to comment on her?
*raises hand* I do agree that the characters in this show are well developed and always evolving which I think even comes down to Azula. I mean, it could have been just too easy to unintentionally slap together an evil power-hungry woman and call her a villain. Azula has her moments where I can believe she has some actual human emotion while still being an evil power-hungry woman. I felt this way a little bit during the beach episode, but more so during the series finale. Azula at this point is just priceless.
Complete insanity was about the only thing that would make me feel sad for her, and this is what we get. I never really liked Azula, but I still feel bad for her downward spiral into paranoia and delusion to the point of seeing her dead mother through the mirror
Which reminds me of another thing. In regards to Zuko's and Azula's mom.
We couldn't get a little bit of just a verbal confirmation of her well being instead of just being up to our interpretations? Wtf? This is like my biggest question I wanted answered in this show.

Hmm, I like Batman as an answer, but it wasn't what I was looking for:animeswea. Although, I'm going to give it to Chibi anyway. What I was looking for was the Penguin. He had pride in his family's wealth, Batman and Bruce are the same guy (I think he has something against Bruce), and finally always has an umbrella:animesmil. I thought it would had been too easy if I gave an umbrella as a clue too early or clearly, so I went with what I thought was other defining characteristics. oh well.

Anime Let's Talk about Abridged Series
desertphoenix replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in Otaku Central
I am so happy I came across this thread a little while back. It's just that the Yu-gi-oh abridged and TFS dbz abridge honestly kind of changed my outlook on life. Before, I was just angry that at one time I've sat all the way through the original runs of these shows, but now I feel just ecstatic for life. And lastly, I am dead serious. -
Sweet, because I almost went with Alexander the Conquer, but yea… Three days is a good and generous enough amount of time. I would go with two in my opinion, but I guess that’s just my impatient side talking. Anyways, back to the game. Category: cartoon/Comic book character #1- My only motive is to avenge the name of my family. #2- Little do I know, my two greatest enemies are one and the same. #3- I am no commoner; I always work with class. Day 1 edit: No guesses. I'll just assume people are playing it safe. #4 Ironically, I am always ready for a rainy day.

I going to go with the main character in Berserk. Guts? I've never seen the show, but a Dreamcast review of a Berserk game. He comes off more of a serious war hero type than a reckless one man unstoppable force that you tend to see with giant swords.
Anyway, I wasn't here when post count things were the norm...so this doesn't faze me. Although, as Ace pointed out, it apparently does matter to some people.
In his defense, I would like to point out that he is at least doing his name justice:animesmil. But, back to the main point. I'm not 100% sure when/if this idea was pitched a while back, but I've liked the idea of having your title obtained by incorporating the daily post average with your total number of posts. I'm just throwing this idea out there, because I don't really have any idea how this would be possible to pull off, but would be nice to. Other than that, I don't think that the post count titles will be a big deal as long as there is a large variety, which I believe is the case now. And Mykul, I shall be the only one here to be labeled scrub with just over 200 posts Thank you very. much.:animesmil

A world I would like to be in would have to be a silly platformer type. A game more specifically would be Psychonauts. A world with a little bit of Alice in Wonderland and some similar feelings as Walking Life and a Scanner Darkly. The art style is like a cartoon, yet something out of a child?s nightmare. I like Psychonauts envisioning of many psychic powers, like conjuring up psychic hands to lifts objects or a psychic ball to ?levitate? on. Yeah, platformers can be often be linear and short, but being in a world where you can physically dive into someone?s mind to see how they see the world while it?s presented in a way suited to the person?s character I found would be intriguing to me. Intruding? Yes. Fun? Defiantly.

I don't really know how to feel anymore. I'm just kind of disturbed how Peta is trying to appeal to kids with this and their flash games. I played a few of them and thought about doing a moch review over at the Arcade, but I just got lazy. I do think cracking a blood filled egg in a cooking Mama knock-off was extremely overboard. edit: I kind of want some points. Street Fighter 4 is going to be a great game no doubt about it. I might actually have friends that would care to learn its mechanics to allow us to play on the same level this time around. I'm a long time fighter junkie and I still haven't sold my copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (came close a few times when I heard it was rare on the Xbox). Natually I've been waiting for a sequel, but may never happen if Capcom can't get the Marvel license again. Capcom is releasing another interesting game Tatsunoko vs. Capcom solely in Japan. I really hope some strings can be pulled to get it over in the States, as it is looking marvelous. And here is a video if you are not familiar with the game: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/43536.html

Hmm, I actually never touched Prince of Persia. Looks kinda like just a rental from what I've heard about it. I know, I know it's the avi/banner I'm using right now, but I really liked the art style. . . so I was a little shallow when making them:animesmil. Speaking of the Wii, I can't believe my dad said he wants to get one himself. I don't think anyone on OB is going to find that as shocking as I do.

Oh, ouch, you put my videogame pride and joy out in the air like that. Soul Caliber 2 was my first true love:love2: Well I still respect your opinions, but I would have to give the nod to Soul caliber 3 as the most disappointing one of the series in my opinion, simply because the balance seemed to drop about here, and also they dramatically change a lot of older characters. SC3 adventure mode was kinda boring and generic. SC4 feels like it's going in the right direction again. The Tower is cool and interesting, and so is how you can customize your characters attributes. SC4 did a lot better in balancing except Yoda is kind of pathetic. Online can be a bit laggy at times though. I share your same concern with Jin in Tekken 5. I only wanted to start to learn how to play with him about the time this game came out, and I was very disappointed that he was supposed to be a flagship character to Tekken. For this, Kazuya will remain my favorite. Strait forward, but deadly. I had fun with Assassin's Creed. It was a little repetitive, and this is all I'm going to say about that game. Lastly, I'm going to go with Oblivion. I found that game to be dreadfully boring. The melee didn't feel that engaging to me, and using the magic made me feel like I was shooting little sparks from my hands like a reject Jubilee. I still don't understand how this game was popular

Anime I need help in finding a new series to watch
desertphoenix replied to Vigilance's topic in Otaku Central
Not a series but if you haven't seen it, Dead Leaves kinda has the Fooly Cooly styles of action, animation, and raunchy humor. Kinda a short movie, but it has its moments. I always liked Cromartie High for a comedy fix. It's random and sometimes outright stupid, but it's funny. Not a lot of action for a school supposedly full of dangerous juveniles. I heard good things about the manga, but I've never read it personally. -
So... what did you get for Christmas?
desertphoenix replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Hmm, maybe he was a woman beforehand?
That was just cold:o. Alright, if a lava lamp makes you feel empowered and feeling able to take on the world; it brought you into adulthood. Boy to man and girl to woman (unless you decide otherwise). It doesn't have to be a lava lamp. It can be a car, a career, a soul mate, or enlightenment. In my case, when I stare at the floating blobs of wax, I'm thinking, "hey, I almost fell on some ice today, but at least I can come home to a nice warm lava lamp".
Oh wow, I need help
Oh and Chibi-master, texting might not be your thing now, but just wait a few years when everyone eventually gets a phone. I don't endorse using it to cheat at school, but at least you have a way communicating discreetly in a movie theater or an assembly:animeswea.
