;806730'] I just wanted to post to say I'm glad that people are posting on this thread again, being as it was all but ignored for almost a month.
Quoted for truth, because I could had sworn this thread died. Through the ashes my friend. Anyways, I'm on the same boat with CosmicSailor's #4. My permit is about to expire in August, and I haven't really made a great effort to get my license. I guess because I really don't care that much for driving. I usually get really nervous when I do get around to doing it. I can drive a lot better then when I started and I have a bit more confidence now, but I don't think I'll pass the test for my license any time soon. Besides, my family only has one car right now anyways. edit:
1. Coming out of my mom's
cooch. Just another thread about getting to know people. Last year, my health teacher gave my class an as assignment about the choices we have made in our lives. He asked us to write about four simple questions which are a little hazy to me right now. I liked them, and I thought they were a cool way to get to know people. You don?t have to answer all questions, but you can choose any you feel like sharing. 1. What was the first choice you?ve made that you can remember? 2. What was the best choice you ever made? 3. What was the worst choice you ever made? 4. What was the hardest choice you ever made? For me: 1. When I was 5 living in Georgia, I decided to take over the lawnmower when my mom went to go pick up some sticks that were in the way. I accidentally stepped in a fire ant hill. They got all over my feet and stung at once, but luckily my mom hosed my feet down. 4. My hardest choice was to stay at my new high school were I?ve met some new friends or stay at my old school with friends I thought I would keep for life. It came down to the schools themselves, and I decided to stay at my new high school.

I started getting into reggae myself a lot lately. I'm no expert, since I really only listen to the more recent stuff. Since you say you are a Bob Marley fan, I guess you are more into the old school style. The only thing that comes to mind to me is Steel Pulse, but I've only heard No More Weapons by them. For the more recent artists, Damion Marley is pretty big now. He has the same message as Bob, but his style is of a rap like reggae. He is my favorite reggae artist by the way. One thing that does bugs me is that some people say he's just trying to make money of his father's name, but he's been in the business forever now. A good song by him that you may not of heard before is Still Searching, feating one of his brothers Stephen Marley. By the way, Bob had a lot of kids. I've found this cool song by Vybz Kartel, feating a video with Devil May Cry here, but I don't know anything about them. I would give a a few samples of Skindred , but since they are a punk reggae band, I think that might miss the mark of what you are looking for:animesmil.

Anime What three things from anime would you like to have and why?
desertphoenix replied to Aaryanna's topic in Otaku Central
1. Vash's revolver. Sweetest looking gun in the world! 2. Conti from FLCL. It would be kind of like having a helper monkey that can fly, except I don't have to worry about flying ****. Yes, go robot slaves. 3. Seven dragon balls. Why? So I can wish for something that is not anime related. Sadly, I don't know what that is yet. -
This thread is inspired by the favorite fights in movies thread. It couldn't hurt to make this one. What are your favorite movie dances and why? I'll start my list with a classic. You can't go wrong with the signature dance scene from Saturday Night Fever. This may be well before my time, but I bet I could pick up a date with these moves:animesmil. Loved Soul Cal 2 to death, and I'm nearing 200 hours played on it. Of all the fighting games I've owned,Soul Cal 2 is the only one I keep coming back to. I've praised this game on taking very unique character styles and balancing them, which I hope they do in 4. I kind of liked Soul Cal 3 with the cool new characters like Tira and Setsuka, but I don't believe balance was existent in the game. Even though I have Soul Cal 2 100% completed and I can hang with computer on extremely hard mode with my top characters, I never got around to learning how to play with all the characters. I really only play with, as listed in order of importance to me, Mitsurugi, Ivy, Taki, Xianghua, Casandra, and Yunsung. The rest of the roster just doesn't appeal to me. I'm a little bit curious to why anyone would think Ivy is a button masher. To me, I think she is the most timing dependent character. When I think button masher, I think someone who just recklessly rushes at someone pressing any button randomly. Over all, she's pretty slow. I still struggle a bit against faster close range characters, like the notorious ankle biter Talim. Timing when to use which long-range whip attack and knowing how to use her stances fluently makes her deadly. She is my favorite runner character, since she has a perfect move for anywhere on the board, which I’ve also kind of memorized the ranges of most of her attacks. My play style with her, which I hope most people's is, is to stay in long range easiest when you know all her quick strikes and moves to create some distance.

Jehovah's Witness and Blood Transfusions
desertphoenix replied to The13thMan's topic in General Discussion
First I would like to say that I'm not a Jehovah's Witness. I believe in Jesus. I'm not the greatest Christian, but I don't think I should get to much into that. To give you an idea, I've never read the whole bible, I believe in evolution, I think I hate humanity, I'm a sucker for beautiful women, but I try to do good everyday. This is a sad story that really makes me think. In today's time, it seems a lot harder to follow any kind of religion. I wouldn't say flaws in religion, well humans are the cause of it. Well religion is only the way people go about their beliefs and how you should live out each day. The way humans have been going about their beliefs has been odd in places. There's a little war going on where pretty much three different religions that originated from the same place are the ones fighting. There's the Spanish Inquisitions, the Salem witch trials, and generally fanatics make everyone look bad. Does God really think it's ok for you to say that one should have died because they were gay or in the war? Abortions is an issue, and I agree cloning humans would be bad. There has been a lot of bringing together in religion also. Generally religion has played as big as role as the government in the way people go about their lives. My overall point is, I believe religion is a quest to find the answer to,"what does God want me to do"? Does God want me to let my child die as a test of faith? Really I don't know. There's an old testament story of I've forgot who that was suppose to sacrifice his son but didn't have to, but is that same test for everyone? Can you really be judged for doing what you really believe is morally right? A lot of things some people do in religion may seem odd or even wrong, but it is something else that people believe is to be right. Every religion now has to step in the reality of law. Thank God we are not allowed to stone our children, and I am happy the girl was able to live. I don't believe you are truly a follower of a religion until you truly are committed to it. Today it's just seems harder to follow anything as you realize the answer of what you are suppose to do and believe in won't probably be told to you until the end. Now I kind of want to get into what makes religion appealing. I think happiness is the obvious answer, but how do you get there? I think the movie the Pursuit of Happiness makes a good point that it is something that might not be truly achievable. Is happiness pleasing the five senses or is it something more? Love, friends, people? But, I've lost them before. Does that mean happiness is constant or do you only reach it in peaks? I think religion is one of the things that make sense of all this and tries to give an answer on the right thing to do. -
I see what you are coming from John. The possibilities are there. Makes me wonder if you can justify a clone as an organic robot. I think that is technically what it is. So maybe they can be considered alive, and I also agree with you on the soul part. As far as the act of sex with a robot goes. Lets just hope existing toys will just be attached to them. If it ain't broke, don't fix it:p.
-
Funny how this makes me think of the episode of Futurama:animesmil. Yes, this is a weird subject that's going to have a strange answer. I think it would just be masturbation. No matter how much of human like personality you give a robot, does it have a soul, feel pain, or is conscious and self aware? Animals have all of these traits (souls are up in the air for argument). So basically, I think having sex with a robot is just have sex with a really animate blow-up doll that can also be a slave. I'm not sure how marriage goes. Heck, I've heard people married a dolls and dolphins.

Ninja Gaiden 2. I beat and loved the first one, but I couldn't bring myself to play it a second time. I'm glad this is coming out and it looks pretty sweet. Still looks hard as hell, but I'll manage. Right now I am loving that scythe and how the camera jerks around with the action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJOUyHM3gik

Gaming Which consoles do you own? And which do you want to buy next?
desertphoenix replied to Vigilance's topic in Noosphere
Right now I own an oringinal Xbox and a Gameboy SP. I got my Xbox as a Christmas gift in 2003, and loved it ever since. I bought my SP with my own allowance, which I don't get anymore. I really want a 360 now, but I'm a little short on cash and I don't think my parents could afford it right now. A lot of stuff came up that I don't feel like getting into. I'm kind of disappointed with myself that I never got a job during high school. Now college is coming up, and I don't know if I want that kind of distraction, but I think I could get through college with one. Right now I have my sister's Wii for the weekend. She moved out a month ago, and it was one of the first things she got for her place. Right now all the games she has it Wii Sports and Wii Play. It doesn't seem worth it right now to get a game from Block Buster or something for only two days. I would try to get demos from online, but I don't have wifi. I've found a usb cord that could go from my cable internet to the Wii, but apparently I need some lan adapter thing. Right now, my impression of the Wii is "ok". I like it a lot, but I'm not in any rush to buy it. Well now I guess I have a way I won't miss out on Galaxy and Smash Bros. -
Took me a minute to get it to go counter-clockwise for me. what worked for me was waving my finger the opposite way I saw it going. When her outside toe was facing the right, my finger was to the right. Then spun my finger to the left when her toe is to the left. I just needed something going the same pace the opposite direction to imagine what it would look like that way. After a few seconds of doing it, I'm getting a headache. This illusion reminds me of seeing a really fast car's rims in the right lighting then appearing to spin backwards.:p Well apparently from the site, I am right brained. Although I think it's slightly broad, I think I actually fit most of those traits, except that I do use feelings and logic and I'm not a risk taker. Just curious, does anyone know if being left or right handed would affect how you first see this illusion?
There wasn't supposed to be much about his brother i cansider him as a little backround about why Mamimi is alaways calling Naota by his brothers name
In a way true as he was a faceless character in the anime, but I really like how cool this guy was in the manga. Think Sasuke and Itachi, kind of the same, but Itachi is cooler (in the end I kind of don't like either). My point is, I felt Takun should have been fleshed out more.
-
Well I guess the idea behind FLCL is that is was suppose to be short and sweet like a one night stand. Now that I've seen tho whole series about 7 times over. I don't want to see a continuation on it.
The end was suppose to symbolize Naoto going back to a normal life again and this being tragic.
The only thing that I'm disappointed with is how the show didn't go that in dept with Naoto's brother (was done a little better in the manga). I guess in a way I think it would be cool to see a spin-off where Mamimi goes to America to find her old boyfriend. That might have some potential, but I guess that would most likely never be made. edit:
I want a sequal where Takkun and what's her face have sessions of gretuesque love making. A few threads bringing up sex, masturbation, and hentai. I think it's time the we had the "talk". When a man gets bored of sex, he wants to hurt/break something. Often times he wants to use a baseball bat or a shotgun. Now now, this is the part where we talk about protection. The safety switch is by the handle. Always make sure you use Kevlar. It my take some of the "feel" out of it, but you will thank me later.
