Do you need language to maintain your culture?
Lethargy replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
It's one thing to be proud of your heritage, but then there are those who are proud of their heritage, the latter generally being stubborn and/or narrow-minded. Now, before someone gets in a huff over that statement, let it be known that I have full right to say this. Practically everyone on my father's side of the family is from the South, and they are very proud to be from the South. That being said, they are very vocal toward my "big city" ways. Personally, I think that it is absurd for one to take so much pride in their culture or heritage that they shut out new ideas and live in the past. Oh yeah, and as great as Southern Hospitality might initially be, it becomes really old, really fast. -
Umm... I'd have to say the people who aren't me. In general. There are always waaay too many people at a single store that are not me. Oh, and also the fact that things cost money. Quite horrible.
My brother smoked Marijuana regularly when I was a child and one time, just one time, he was given a joint laced with PCP. He's never been the same since.
A close friend of mine recently smoked PCP-laced pot. Scared the hell out of him. I don't think, however, that it scared him anywhere near enough for him to stop smoking all together. Personally, I believe that if a drug is not physically addictive, and has very minimal negative effects on the body, then it is perfectly fine for me to use. Case in point, I am an avid fan of Robotripping (getting high off of cough syrup - sounds lame, I know, but that's only because you've never tried it), and I will be trying ecstasy for the first time in the near future. Now, does this make me a bad person? That's your opinion.

If Helen Keller fell down in the woods, would she make a sound?

So since you don't believe in a higher power, killing people is okay then, right?

I think the whole thing is an excellent idea. It's smart, original, and sounds like a BLAST. Let it be known that I call dibs on the National Radical Meadow Party... Shotgun on campaign manager!
It's like the kid peeked into my life and then caught a glimpse of what it's like to be D'Ann. How freaky is that?[/FONT']
Hey, it happens to the best of us! Allergies blow. Ha! Get it?

Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Both of them are still so much fun, even after all these years. The main reason being, of course, all the glitches! Nothing is better than an uber-glitchy game. Well, I guess two uber-glitchy games are better.

Haha! Wow, Clurr... Not only is Of Greetings And Goodbyes one of my favorite AFI songs (The Art of Drowning is my favorite AFI album), but I LOVE Clarissa! MSI rocks. Heh... AFI & MSI.

Does this happen to anyone else here: I get very congested and stuffed-up during the allergy season, especially when I lie down. I generally sleep on my side, and in doing so, all the fluids in my sinuses and nasal cavities migrates toward the side that I'm sleeping on. Therefore, when I sleep on my right side, I can't breathe out of my right nostril, and vice versa. Nothing is more frustrating than only being able to breathe at 50% capacity.

Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs and also Killing Yourself To Live, both by Chuck Klosterman. Neither one are fantasy or science fiction, but they are both fantastic books. Quite enjoyably critical looks at pop culture, music, love, and life in general. Completely entertaining books from page one to end. I strongly recommend them.
Q: Why can't Hellen Keller drive? A: Because she's a woman!
Oh! Helen Keller jokes! Q: How did Helen Keller's parents punish her? A:
They left the plunger in the toilet!
Q: What did Helen Keller name her dog?
And one of my favorite jokes: Children in backseats cause accidents. Accidents in backseats cause children.
That reminds me of a little, old folk ditty: Yankee Doodle went to town, riding on his mother Every time he hit a bump, he had another brother Yep... nothing's funnier than good ol' fashioned incest.
i would rather have a quick death, wouldnt you?
No. I wouldn't. If there is no hope for someone, then why should they have their life ended five minutes prematurely? That is five minutes of their life lost. Sure, they might have been in excruciating pain, but at least they are alive. Killing someone who's dying is redundant.
BUT if ..... i had AIDS, to list off a deadly sickness, i would fight it every step of the way because there is still hope with that.
How does the amount of time someone has to live make a difference on whether or not someone should be assisted with their death? How does one instance of impending death warrant hope, and the other doesn't? Based on your logic, if there were two people dying, one of which had seven months to live, the other six, the latter should pretty much just give up and throw in the towel. The point is, we are all going to die, so it's best to just ride it out and live each day to the fullest, even if each day is agonizingly painful. It will pass.

Everyone dies when they are supposed to die, and if you disrupt this natural occurrence by choosing the time of one's demise, you are essentially playing God, Allah, Jehova, Jah, Seaxnéat, Amun, Zeus, Vishnu, Shiva, Brahman, Anshar, that rock, the sun, Bob Saget, or whatever higher power you believe or disbelieve in. It is not one's place to decide when one shall leave this world.

Panhandling, when done correctly, can be quite lucrative. Panhandling, when done incorrectly, can... not.
I don't remember there being any fun in allergies. Maybe I have the wrong ones.
Apparently so. Whenever I eat shellfish, I gain the ability to speak telepathically to marine life. Like Aquaman. Jokes aside, the only thing I'm allergic to is (are?) weeds. Stuffed-up nose and watery eyes, March through October.

Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave - This guy is phenomenal. Sure he uses massive amounts of effects, but it takes true skill to pull it off and make it sound good. Not only does he pull it off, but Tom Morello makes it sound amazing. An innovative and highly imaginative guitarist. Dick Dale - The pioneer of surf music. He plays insanely fast and insanely accurate. He pretty much invented what everyone knows as surf music, doing so while playing a right-handed guitar upside-down, left-handed. Fantastic.

I've been listening to a lot of nu-rave and indie lately. I just love the stuff. Hadouken!, Klaxons, The Rapture, The Wombats... Great music. Also, I've been listening to a TON of Muse these days. Amazing.
