I still don't understand how you don't see Final Fantastic Survivor as a mass-RPG - it did have eleven players if you count me in! In one other rpg I got over 20 sign-ups, but that one died because I accepted them all and the quality and consistency went down because of it. Really, I've been worrying about ONE single thing in this thread, it is hardly nitpicking over every detail! And as I said before, I am giving this game time now, I am backing off, I learned my lesson from the first two people who "disciplined" me, there was no need for you to get at it as well, Imi! :( Like I said, I only want the best for this game...

The limited edition of Advent Children includes all sorts of extras, including the actual FFVII-game, some figurines, t-shirt, keychains etc., so it's well worth the $300 price. ;)
Considering you haven't been in a mass role-play before (I have, believe me, I know it?s hard if there is not enough control and restricted posting) and you are not the one who created and planned it and indeed you are not a team leader I do believe that you should stop hanging on every detail, picking out what could go wrong before the RP has even got of the ground and let it run it's course.
Umm, excuse me? It's very dangerous to make assumptions like that, Imi, as I have created ten more or less successfull RPGs (don't even know how many I've participated myself), one of them being the Final Fantastic Survivor that was a huge project that lasted for nearly half an year with over 500 posts! I've had over ten players in almost all of my RPGs, so I really know how the RPGs here work! I'm no beginner in the subject! I know I've been annoying, but it doesn't give you the right to go all personal on me, especially claiming things that you don't even know! I've apologized several times in this very thread for my fussing and whining, although there are real reasons behind them, so why are you lashing me anymore? Besides, I'm not "hanging on every detail", the posting restrictions are my only concern! Geez, next time at least read my posts before you start insulting me!
-
I agree, Retri. And sorry for kinda underestimating your position. :/ Hey, congrats on making the second post! I really am positive that this game will pick up wind behind its sails from now on. ;D I know I'm fussing over this, but take it as a sign that I'm really dedicated to the game, and wish nothing but best for it.
-
Honestly though, this is just a larger-scale RPG, nobody's expecting the posts to be larger than life or ground-breakingly innovative! I know that the nagging is annoying, but I'm experienced in creating RPGs here at the OtakuBoards, and I know for a fact that if people get restricted too much (or if too much is expected from them), they lose interest and never post at all! I have made the very same mistake in several of the games I've created myself! Nothing has happened yet, so of course no radical changes should be made as of yet, but if there are no new posts after next week, people should really start pondering what is the problem here. For now, I'm contended with waiting "patiently", but I also think problems should be solved in advance, before you're up to your waist in trouble.
-
I think that's an excellent suggestion, Takuya! It answers to my problem, while it probably satisfies Shy as well. I really hope Shy at least considers this option. It's the fifth day of the game, and yes, only one post has appeared into the four threads. Isn't anybody else at least bit worried? Anyhow, if you're bored, check out the new art at the Legionnaires Artwork -thread! I made a group picture of the Gold Team in their first mission, and Lore has apparently started making character art. Go her! ;D
Actually, being a game-maker, I found this page and had the idea of using it to make a computer RPG using the program RPG MAKER 2003. The game would be called "Cliche" or something and it'd use every one of those cliches on that list... and then some. I might still do it.
That's one interesting idea, DW! I can't program *******, but as said, I have a hobby of making game (namely RPG) scripts. I once tried to make a script filled with clichés, but ultimately my creativity got the best of me, and it turned out to be pretty similar to some modern RPGs... ;P So if you are any serious about starting such a project, I'd be more than happy to join you as a scriptmaker, character designer, dungeon designer etc. ;) (We can continue this through PMs, but if you want proof of my skills, I can send you few of my mostly unfinished projects...)

It is a direct sequel to the videogame Final Fantasy VII, taking place two years after the end of the game. But rather than being a playable game, it is a fully animated DVD-movie. A new threat has appeared in the form of a strange disease called Geostigma, and at the same time three mysterious silver-haired men search for their "Mother". The movie basically tells how the heroes - and villains - of the game are doing two years later, and adds depth to the original story. The movie comes out in Japan the 13th September, and although it was supposed to be released in US the next day, the 14th, just today news have surfaced about a delay in the US markets. It is now aimed to be released during the holiday season, meaning December. There's no information when the movie will reach the European shores, though. Advent Children is also part of the so-called "Compilation of FFVII", including the mobile game Before Crisis, handheld-game Crisis Core and the first-person-shooter Dirge of Cerberus (So it's FFVII: AC, BC, CC and DC). ;D EDIT: Stoopid me, of course there was a thread about Advent Children in the "Play It"-section! I've even answered it! Duh!

Hey, this thread it back! Coolies, as I noticed that the Final Fantasy-category lacks some of the characters of Final Fantasy XII. If somebody misses them, your longing is over as I have them right here: Title: Penelo Category: Final Fantasy Title: Penelo Category: Final Fantasy Title: Basch Category: Final Fantasy Title: Basch Category: Final Fantasy Title: Vayne Category: Final Fantasy Hope the quality is good enough. ;)

Oh geez, not another thread morphed into a religious debate! First the hangings of gay teens in Iran, then the silly dinosaur thread, and now this? All in the last month! Give the subject at least a break, guys!
You fail at sarcasm. No cookie for you. Nutcase extremists pop in religion all the time- I'm not really sure if that implies something about humans or religion, but whatever. Let's not get into that. This guy just happened to be a little too insanely vocal about his 'opinion' and people listened, laughed at him, then moved on. That must really hurt the ol' ego. *starts humming "Another One Bites The Dust"*
Aww, I failed? Phooey... :( (It had to be because I wrote "a part" instead of "apart"...dammit!) Heh, I immediately started humming the exact same song after reading Sol-Blade's post! So obvious! Seriously, you can't take this news too gravely. It's just another looney that wants to kill somebody; as long as it doesn't happen, everything's okay. ;)
Is the Yin-Yang a big symbol for Melinoë, or did you just add it for stylistic reasons? (I understand how it would be symbolic, but I was wondering if it was something you meant to emphasize, or something that just seems coincidentally appropriate.)
Purely symbolic, it represents her two sides. She's not taoist or anything, as she is the daughter of an ancient demon. ;) Same thing with the Gemini as her star sign, and being born on 6/6/19x6 - convenient if a bit obvious symbols of her character. ;P

Umm, Retri, I think Molleta was referring to Hugo Chavez, not George W. Bush. After all, it's Chavez that the televangelist wants dead, not Bush. ;)

The game is finally on, and to celebrate that I did this rather quick drawing picturing my current team, the Gold Team, facing their first mission. I tried to follow the description in everybody's sign-up quite accurately, but I just had to add some artistic impression in the figures, so I apologize if somebody in my team resents the way their character is pictured. Anyhow, I tried to get a sort of "Kill Bill"-style image (most of you will probably recognize what I'm after), but because of my lack of a decent picture editor program, I made it rather simplistic, with the characters in one color that I think suits them the best, and the texts made with Paint. ;P Hope it isn't completely worthless, though. See the attachment to view it!
I'm also saddened by the lack of Hwang or Yunsung this time around, as well as Cervantes. However, it looks like you can create similar characters in Character Creation mode.
Don't be sad, R.A.R.! It is said that all the characters from the second installment will be in this game too (although I'd be so much happier if they left that damn-annoying, damn-useless Xianghua out!). The website is still obvously lacking in material, I'm sure they will add more characters in the near future, as well as the background-story to them all. I'm actually quite surprised that they reveal that much from all of the characters in a website, it's pretty unusual. I agree that the wallpaper featuring the character creation reminds me of the job-system from countless rpgs, but I hope the options will go beyond those generic jobs listed, as the row/line of characters implies.

It has been a while since I visited the official site of SC3 (http://www.soularchive.jp), and to my delightful surprise, it was packed with new info! Character profiles are now available, besides the three new characters, for Mitsurugi, Taki, Ivy, Voldo, Astaroth, Cassandra, Raphael, Talim, Kilik, and both Siegfried and Nightmare (who seem to be two different characters in this game)! Also, the site offers 360 degrees view to at least seven stages (didn't count). But the best thing I found, to my opinion, is located at the Desktop Items-section. Check out the last wallpaper and behold the might of the character creation system! I had my doubts on it, thinking it would only have some generic options, but if you can really create such versatile characters, I'm definately getting this game! ;D
Well, it sounded like a Middle Eastern country...
Yes, Venezuela is such an arabic-sounding name. Venezuela, Pakistan - who could tell them a part! ;D Sorry to laugh at your expense, but this was just too funny... (And please don't take this too seriously.) Anygays, I'm more disturbed that this televangelist guy probably has thousands of followers and disciples, all going "Yeah! God wants us to kill Chavez!". And did he really pray for a hurricane to hit DisneyLand? But... what about all the kids there?! How insane people manage to have so much influence on "normal" people? It just goes beyond my imagination!

You are absolutely guys, I just have too much time on my hands... When my school starts next week, I probably won't even notice that I haven't posted in this event. I apologize for my behaviour, and stop littering this thread with my inanity now. ;P
Hey Sage why not contact your Team Leader and see if you can work out a way to get your turn earlier/next? Just a thought..
I already did, sort of... But my real point isn't that I want to cut the line and be the next one to post, because what would that solve? I'd post my post and then wait weeks before I can post the next time. I'm just doubting that this current system isn't working for this event. Being restricted to post so little per mission, and having to post in a predetermined turn seems to kill most chances to provide something of your own to the event. It's like you will have no control over what your character does and what happens next, excluding those few times you are allowed to post. To my opinion things would go much smoother - and people would already be having fun with this event - if the posting was more free. But ultimately the problem boils down to having to wait until one can participate in the event. Frankly, having to wait too long kills the interest. Plus I'm kinda worried nobody has posted into any of the threads, as it suggests they are writing some sort of a short novel... :/ I'm sorry if I've misunderstood this as an rpg if it really is some sort of collection of short stories (like "hero", and to some extend "Kill Adam"), but I really didn't sign up for one of those... EDIT: Aww sheesh, here I go whining again! Maybe I should just shut up and go draw another artwork of Melinoë. ;P
-
Anyways, Sage, if you think you've got it bad waiting a week to post, just think about all of us who aren't even on missions yet, just saying...
Yeah, I know... That's why I was kinda trying to speak for others as well, I wasn't just thinking about my own arse. ;) But my Nervous Overdramatic Stressing Seizure (you can abbreviate it to NOSS) is over now, and I can continue you my life onwards happily now. ;P

I came across a very interesting site earlier today. Some people have made a hilarious list of the clichés that appear on roleplaying games for consoles. Here is the link: http://project-apollo.net/text/rpg.html Anybody who has played at least few rpgs on consoles will recognize the many familiar references from this list, and at least I got some new insight about rpgs and their nature. As I have a little hobby of making fictive rpg-scripts, I found the list quite useful, even though it is written with a twinkle in the eye. ;) Naturally I try my best to avoid the most obvious clichés in my writings. I'm a sort of person that gets irritated from encountering too many clichés, but luckily many rpgs contain enough original and unique stuff so I can look past the all-too-familiar-features (such as the main lead is always a youngster wielding a huge sword, the leading lady gets kidnapped half a dozen times during the storyline etc.) What do you guys feel about these repetitive features in rpgs, also known as clichés? Do they irritate you, or do you actually prefer to see them in rpgs?
-
I know, I know... I'm overreacting, yes. My school starts next week also, so maybe I'm stressed by the fact that now when I have all the time in the world to post, I can't. It's frustrating, considering that I've got ants in my pants about this event ever since I signed up. I'll try to calm down and stress less, now. :/ EDIT: Oh, and if Shy is aiming this to be another "Kill Adam", I'm so out of here! No way I can match the quality of that game, with my lacking English skills (and short attention span)! :P Besides, what's this assumption that a quality rpg consists of posts the size of short stories? To me, a quality forum-rpg has lots of interaction between the characters, and with it everybody has good time, even if the posts are only few paragraphs in lenght. ;)
-
I understand, Shy, but you realize that this game has 28 players. If each of them takes a week to post, this event might reach it's conclusion about this time next year. Oh well, I'll try to be patient, but it still worries me that not a single post has appeared on the four(!) threads at the Event Arena. One can only keep the hype up for so long, you know?
-
I kinda have to take Ilium's side on this one, Lore. If calling people scum is flaming, then why isn't calling people sinners who will find themselves in hell then? The latter sure has more flames in it, if you forgive my lame pun. Frankly, I'm just trying to ignore all this religious bashing directed towards homosexuals (and thus, towards me), but just because it's religious shouldn't make it anymore approvable.
-
So just chill out man, and join another RPG in the meanwhile, lol.
I would, but frankly all the rpgs here have been... let's say uninteresting lately. I have high hopes for this event, but if it's going to take weeks between my turns to post, I just might not bother. I know fast pace in an rpg is bad, but nearly immobile pace is even worse. Shy underlined that this event was supposed to be about having fun, but I'm not having much fun with the event at this moment, and apparently is nobody else... :/
