You know, a long time ago when I started using this damn font, it wasn't so small and hard to read. Resolution settings on computers have changed since then and i'm too damn stubborn to stop using it. Anyway, back on topic. The only reason why people lie (ignoble intentions aside) is to avoid hurting someone. But I have found that you can always avoid hurting without resorting to lying. If you have have good intentions then there is no valid reason why someone could get upset with what you say to them, and if that's not the case, then it's probably something they need to hear. If I was doing something wrong I'd like to know I was doing something wrong so I could fix it. Learning and growing is more important then social comfort and smiles. I appreciate complete and total honesty in friends and I DEMAND it in relationships. If someone says something to me that hurts me either they are doing it to hurt me, or they are doing it to tell me something important, or they are doing it for some ****** up personal reason like to avoid their own pain or something to that effect. None of those reasons are reasons to get upset. Unless you don't like the truth - but who does. Life does, after all, suck quite a lot sometimes. Edit: Sorry, I didn't directly answer your question, but you have probably already worked out that I am extremely honest.

My bedroom ceiling when I was growing up had a whole galaxy of glow in the dark stars on it and down the edges a little so at night in the dark it looked like the sky. The walls were painted with an under the sea mural with thousands of fish, coral reefs, mermaids, dolphins and crustacea. Up near the top of the walls was the waterline and on one wall, a suggestion of an island far away. Roof was more pale blue than the water. I love glass rooftops but wouldn't want one in my bedroom... because I usually go to bed at five or six in the morning on weekends.

Emos, Preps and the Whole Clique team
Ravenstorture replied to Aberinkula's topic in General Discussion
I'm a couple of years out of highschool but I'm still a member of a subculture that gets yelled at when I walk down the street. I'm not talking about goth or punk, because in this city they are quite prevalent and no one notices or cares if you dress up like that for downtown. Emo is also getting big here in Brisbane and that's good to see too, they are a nice bunch of people. But when my clique dresses up, it is noticed - and I love it. -
I have had three relationships now and they have all been vastly different. But they have all followed the rule - know what your partner likes and does not likes, wants and does not want, what they feel safe with and what they don't, how something makes them feel and why, know it intimately and clearly, and let that guide your actions. I cheated on my last boyfriend, and the only reason why it was cheating is because I knew he wouldn't be comfortable with it and I did it anyway. Now that I've worked out why that happened, I can recognise dangerous situations and remove myself from them before anyone gets hurt.

Can you look at your self in the mirror?
Ravenstorture replied to spy46's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, there is no way a 16 year old boy of that description is going to listen to a word you say, but it's important to put the effort in - because when his entire life falls apart around him, and he ends up bleeding, alone or in jail at least then he will know he can turn to you. And if he does, he will listen to you. *waves to chw* -
Well, if he really is your good friend, you should be able to say to him, "Dude - your boyfriend is a ******* ****-****. I'll be over there until the both of you get over it." Then go to the library, get a good book, an mp3 player and chuck some Dragonforce or the Darkness on there and go hide in the corner until the world begins to fall apart without you. Or, ** insert extremely inappropriate joke about schools and gun control made by someone who does not live on nor has never stepped upon US soil **. Surprisingly enough I saw an almost identical situation when I was in highschool a couple of years ago. My friend, a large gentleman interested in playing acoustic guitar and bodybuilding, got a girlfriend who could nearly beat him in an arm wrestling competition. Which is pretty damn scary. She was a behemoth, and not only that, but she was a stupid girl who liked paying the weaker members of our group small amounts of money to eat disgusting things and throwing food at people. My friend was not a stupid man, and my boyfriend of the time (yes, that was Harlequin) approached him and told him that this girl was a dickface. He decided that he would take her to another part of the school for breaks, for "alone time", when really he was doing us all a favour by getting her the hell away from us.

Sounds to me like the biggest problem here is the relationship you have with your brother! PLEASE think before you use the word hate, it is an emotion so strong that many do not feel it in their lifetimes and I really do hope you are spared from feeling this terrible emotion. First of all, you don't need to 'expose' him or indeed tell ANYONE about his actions, as this may have no effect, or at most anger and alienate him. All you need to do is talk to him and express your concern at his actions. If he understands that what he is doing is wrong and hurtful, he may change. If he doesn't give a **** about anyone else's feelings, or about honesty, that's another problem all together. You are his older brother. If he starts to wander off the moral path, it is your responsibility as someone close to him to help guide him back to it. From the sound of things however, your relationship with him seems far from you being able to give him advice. How does he feel about you? If you talked to him and said, "Hey man, I'm really concerned about what's going on in your life at the moment." then how would he react? You need to tell him why you are upset with the situation and then hopefully he might help sort it out himself. If there is no chance that he'd listen to you, forget about everyone else, you need to fix your relationship with him. There is no point in being a good person if you can't do good for those around you. When someone makes a mistake, they do not need to be punished - they need to understand what they have done wrong so they can fix it and learn from it. Otherwise he will be ****ing people over for the rest of his life, and how will you be able to look at yourself in the mirror knowing you did nothing to help? -

MWAHAHAHA!!! Someone (maybe piro?) made a website compilation of photos of Otakuians a few years ago. There are two pics on there of me, way back when. Here's me now(ish): Me with my freind Smash, looking suspicious: Me and my friend Igor in all our hardcore Raver Glory: (AARGH MY EAR IS ON FIRE!) Actually in retrospect although I picked these two photos at random, they were taken on the same night. YES! Finally, somewhere i can crap on about boring stuff and feel like I'm not wasting people's time! What a good idea. I had done all my work yesterday, and because we'd had to move the clinic for emergency surgery I only had one patient to see and so spent all day doing accounting. I talked to my b/f on the way home and said what do you want to do for dinner (I usually cook) but made it clear that I really would have preferred that he took his turn tonight. He made it clear he would rather that he didn't. So I couldn't be bothered forcing him to cook for me (even though he took the day off work today) so i went home and cooked dinner and brought it over to him on the bus as fast as I could (because we don't live together). AND HE'S NOT EVEN ****ING HERE. Get prepared for some serious wrath.

The Extreme/Heavy Music That Isn't Metal Thread!

Mr Maul, question not answered because query not yet investigated. I know Dj Caffeine as sort of a hard housy-type dj but the song you mentioned I have not been able to get at yet. At the risk of sounding picky I'd have to say that lately tracks have to be pretty amazing to catch my ear if they are slow enough to be in the hard house/hardstyle genre. Even most of the gabber I listen to is too slow but the sound of it is exciting enough. That said, Yoji Biomehanika is one of my all time favourite djs and indeed the one that got me into this whole dance music thing, and he is hard house/hard dance. Then I found Scott Brown... and that was when I became a raver. -

I am extremely oldschool conservative on the topic of Forum Name Changing. Back in MY day there was no way you COULD change your name - it began to come in just as I was leaving, I believe. I think it is too confusing. A couple of people have waved at me lately, with a passing "I remember you! I used to be called " " or something like that." I can't keep up! I'm sticking with my name, as angsty teenager and 13 year old as it is, simply because it was lucky I had good taste back then. HA. n00bs please! Where are the youngin's so we bestow best wishes and welcomes... -
I remember getting stuck into http://www.meninhats.com/ for a while. It was good at the beginning, but then the author ran out of gas and kind of kept going for a while. Then the website died for about a year before he came forward and admitted the creative well had run dry, as it inevitably does, and is nothing to be ashamed about. I wish the author of Garfield would take a leaf out of this guy's book. I occasionally go back and read the ENTIRE archive of Penny Arcade, in one sitting. But it takes me longer and longer each time. My current addiction is Lolcats. I won't go into that any further because it's not relevant to this topic. But it's the reason why I stopped reading Penny Arcade, The White Ninja and Three Panel Soul. Other things that have nothing much to do with this thread is the sad passing of Tourette's guy, who was a comic unto himself. More offtopic, you say? Very well, a tidbit of info for you - my mother is a comic artist, among other things.

LTE good because it is FAST. I can't stand listening to anything under 170bpm for too long (i'm a raver so I tend to classify everything by the bpm). I just got Cycore Megamix by The Speed Freak on my mp3 player - PURE BLISS! Seems to be about the same speed as LTE. The Speed Freak calls his genre Cycore, because people don't really like calling it speedcore unless it's even faster (which l think is wank.) Goes under a few other names too, like radium, beagle. Another dude is Hellfish - a cycore/breakcore kinda guy... wicked fun and 200+bpm but kinda impossible to dance to. -
Now that is just ****ing strange. For me to come back and read this. And it was only posted last month! I can't explain why I came back, damnation! Then again, I haven't been back long enough to see how different this place has become. Although I have noted a lot of reminiscing.

That name rings a bell. Hello again. And thanks for answering my question - i've lost touch with many branches of the music tree and suddenly I turn around to find it's a lot bigger than I care to climb these days. I love metal and I love hardcore anything and I love industrial, so I'm going to go and find some of this funky **** you guys are talking about and look it up. http://www.myspace.com/xylocainedeadgirl There's a band I like. Especially the song Tsar Bomba. I would call it extreme if you turned it up enough, haha. -

I only had the misfortune of running into Cloricus in my rpg Latham Adytum, and elsewhere online we avoided eachother. Things were made interesting by the fact that we were attending highschool together at the time. He was very different in person! To me, anyway. Those of you who knew me well may be saddened (but not at all surprised) that the engagement between The Harlequin and myself is sadly off... haha... I really did believe it would last forever. But it lasted from the end of 2001 to the end of 2004. Which ain't bad! MAN have I grown up a bit since then. -

My housemate bought Serj's album, i've not listened too carefully but it sounds good. I do love SOAD. Or did. It's been a while. Would someone please tell me wtf is mathcore? I've not heard of it. Also I'd like to bring up society's overuse of the suffix 'core' - I think it's being thrown around too much these days, and has lost its substance. -
Oh I know, nRaiha. I know. So you understand how I feel. Anyway. Think on this when you find a dirty dish left in the sink. A piece of optimism for you perhaps... "At least..." but that said, don't fall into the trap of counting your blessings and keeping your mouth closed, as I tend to do. Keep quiet to keep the peace. My friends scream, "Why don't you say something!" And sometimes I do. But I avoid tension... and look where it got me.

Man, the pretention was so thick in the air I couldn't find my keyboard for a minute, but it seems to have blown up in everyone's face. I am involved in two other forums on the 'net and both of these are entirely music scene forums. On there people KNOW not to get involved in genre wars, the lines are too blurred and people end up thinking their opinions are more than just their own opinions. ;) I believe Goodbye, Face mentioned before that "musicians are horribly disillusioned as to what genre they play." (not sure what definition of disillusioned you are using here) but I'd say rather that they usually don't really care what genre they fit into, because it doesn't matter. The music I write (which I won't comment on further, because it doesn't class as "extreme") does not fit into any genre, and I find myself not giving a damn.
What a laughable question.
Are you laughing at me there, Mr Maul? It is a valid question. -
My house is impeccably clean at all times, spotless, and when there is an inspection all we need to do is dust. And I live with three housemates. Yet, despite all this, it is the house of DOOM and I cannot WAIT to get out of there simply because I can't stand the girl I'm living with. I've known her since I was five and she was three and she is simply the most selfish and thoughtless girl I've come across. No problem at all with walking into your room and borrowing underpants because she has no clean ones, using your toothbrush, the special shower products I got for my birthday, my razor, using my towels and then dumping them on her floor wet and going to bed and shutting the door so I can't get at them. Rules are all well and good but only if people give a damn. Maybe it would be different if we weren't so close... perhaps she'd not take advantage of me if we weren't so comfortable with eachother. I tell you what, though - this friendship is on its last legs!

I've been listening to a lot of gabber lately. Also sometimes spelt gabba. Anyone on here ever heard of it? It's a genre of dance music but it's synonymous title is hardcore. In the dance music scene it is actually referred to just as 'hardcore'. Originates from Amsterdam, the city of Rotterdam actually.... some people may be familiar with the group Rotterdam Terror Corps. I'm absolutely obsessed with the stuff, it sounds like being kicked in the face with a steel cap boot and features a lot of scary movie samples and nasty phrases. It's really taken off here in Brisbane. We get all the international gabber acts for parties here. Anyone else on these boards know what i'm talking about?
