Screaming could be heard down the halls of the underground base that night, they howled and echoed through the halls, bouncing off the walls and filling the base with eerie noises and terrifying shadows. Most people stayed in their rooms this night but the few who knew, the few that were used to it ventured out, curious as to who was fairing better than the others. Under the gym, deep below the ground a door was chained shut, screams and shouts fermenting within it. As the night continued on the screaming decreased, growing slowly quiet til only heavy breathing could be heard from the other side. It was done...

Saph rolled on the floor holding her head, her teeth gritted tightly as tears flowed from her eyes, her throat was raw from screaming for so long, but the feeling of the Zero had been more than she expected. It was as if someone had injected liquid lava into her veins breathing heavily she tried to stand and felt her entire body give out. Shaking her head she simply lay on her stomach, the cool wooden floor feeling wonderful against her fevered skin. Her eyes scanned the room, she could only see four others moving, Hunter, Shu, Crimson, and Obsidian... Were they the only ones left? Had everyone else just given up and died like the stories said? She looked to the person lying next to her, her breath catching in her throat, their face was frozen in a silent scream, blood having dried from pouring from their nose, eyes and mouth...their skin having taken on a sick look, pale and light blue, their veins highlighted throughout their skin and standing our harshly...there was no doubt this person was dead...she suddenly gasped, her body feeling unbearably hot as it felt as if it were constricting tightly, her back hunched as her hands were clasped into fists. Closing her eyes she grit her teeth and growled out a curse. Was this normal? Was she supposed to feel like this?
Her body reacted instantly as a hand dropped onto her shoulder, twisting and latching onto the hand as she leapt to her feet and shoved the person onto their backs, her other hand instantly around their throat. Seeing the man's face she backed off, sliding from her chest to the floor to sit and look up into his grizzled face which was smiling sadly.
"B-Bear...what's going on?"
His deep voice echoed throughout the now silent room, only a few shuffles could be heard.
"You five are the only ones who survived. Each of you will most likely feel different, the Zero reacts differently to your body given your blood type. Those of you with negative type blood will most likely experience quicker reaction times, tougher skin, or even enhanced strength, but please...do not think that your invincible because of this...all of you are still very much human...your just able to push your selves a little further than the rest of us...Those of you with positive blood may experience increased speed or even heightened senses. These reactions, can go either way, just be ready for whatever. Now...you five, your time starts now. Welcome to the war pilots."
Saph blinked and looked around, there was just the five of them standing, just the five of them remained...were they the new pilots? Her training kicked in as she looked over her self and the others from a distance. She could see the burn on their skin where the Zero had been injected, a scar, a memory forever of their pain here. She walked up to Hunter and peeled back his eye lid looking at his pupils, at least tried before he swatted her away with a frown.
"Magus, your medical examination will have to wait, we need to get you five cleaned up and suited up. The Barons don't wait..."
They looked towards him, shock visible on all of their faces.
"Your throwing us into this?! We have no training on piloting those things!"
Bear looked at Saph and nodded.
"I understand Magus, but its inevitable...the other pilots have reached their limits, and you all are what we have to work with now. So go and get cleaned up than meet in the hanger. You have an hour."
With that, Bear left the room, Saph ran a hand through her hair before she let out a breath and followed him, walking out of the room she walked through the halls without really seeing where she was going as she headed to her small room. Once there she opened the door and closed it, blinking as she turned around and saw a black and red uniform on her bed. It looked form fitting and professional, neatly pressed and new. Sighing she stripped from her sweat soaked clothes on her walk to her bathroom, pulling off her shirt, and unbuttoning her pants, she reached the bathroom and finished the process as she flipped on the water, turning it as hot as she could stand, uncaring that her pale, cream colored skin turned pink as she stepped under the stream of water. It felt good, and she could feel the stream filling the small room, inhaling deeply she stopped as her head swam, she could smell her shampoo from across the shower, still unopened. She shook it off as she finished her shower and emerged, her hair wrapped in a towel as she walked back into her room. Drying she slipped into the uniform and looked at the badge on her chest, the golden color allowing the small red KNIGHT to be seen clearly within. Sighing she pulled her hair up into a tight military style bun and put the Barrett on top of her head and slipped into a pair of polished heels she put on a small amount of make up to bring out her blue eyes and took a deep breath. This was it, she was far from ready as she opened her door and stepped out into the hall, instantly being saluted to by a few people walking past...this was going to take some getting used to. She turned and began to walk towards the hanger, turning the corner she saw Bear there who smiled at her.
"Sapphire Magus, Red pilot. Welcome. From this moment on there is no turning back...do you accept?"
"Do I have a choice?"
He chuckled and lead her into the hanger, she looked up and gasped as the five hulking KNIGHTS loomed over her, their eyes seeming to follow her til she came face to face with her own.
"Here is your partner. Get to know him, you'll be heading out within the hour. We just received word that there are Barons inbound. 50 miles out. That's gives us two hours."
"What?! I'm not ready for this!"
"Than get ready Magus."
With that he left her there and walked back out into the hall to welcome the others.

Alright, there you have it! We're jumping right in!

Crimson felt like the pain would never end. The screaming was so bad. So many people screaminging. The right arm was burning the most where Zero was injected. She wasn't the one for much pain so she was sure that she was going to die.
The night went on which felt like decades to her. Screams slowly died down till there was silence. Dead silence before she heard someone talking. She slumped down onto the wooden floor. Her body burning from the inside before forcing her head to look up to see Hunter, Saph, Shu, and Obsidian. All four seem to have survived. At first she thought she died and this was purgatory. She stumbled around. Hearing the big male say something about getting cleaned up and dressed.

She sees Saph stumble into the bathroom before Crimson takes Saph's lead and heads towards the locker rooms to shower and get dressed. Crimson stumbled towards a door with her name on it. On the bench was a strange suit but she started to strip off the soaked cloths and heads into the showers. She adjusts the water to be just a bit hotter then normal. Standing under the shower head as the water washed. The sound of water was louder but it feels like they where slowed down before she turned the water off. She shakes her head thinking it's just zero's after affect. She suited up before looking at herself in a wall mirror. She was paler then normal and she was exhausted. If she was to pilot a craft she had no training. It wasn't going to be good.

"Couldn't they have waited till we at least got some sleep?" Crimson says rubbing her eyes trying to keep herself from waking up before entering the hanger. Saph was already there and the big man from before.

"Crimson, Black pilot. Welcome. From this point there is no going back.Do you accept?" The big man says looking at her. She felt small compared to him before walking to her Knight.

"Could I take a few hours to sleep?" Crimson asks.

"We need you out there now. No time to rest." The big man says leading her to the black knight. "This is your partner."

Crimson looks to the Knight. Her suit was completely black with dark red highlights. The Knight was colored the same as her suit.

"My partner?" She noticed the sniper rifle in the Knight's hands. "Thank you Sir." Crimson says walking down between two lines of crewmen. All saluting which made her very nervous. The big man turned her over to a small crew to help her get into the knight and prepare for battle to come.

As Hunter got to his feet, he clutched at his right arm as he could feel the burning sensation from the scar that remained. I feel like every cell in my body just exploded...Am I even alive? he thought to himself as he tried to gain some focus. His gaze shifted to the scene around him. It looked like he was the only survivor of this suicidal attempt to combat the Barons before he caught four other figures who seemed to have, at least, some kind of vital signs. He rubbed his forehead, seeing that Saph, Crimson, Obsidian and Shu were still alive after the injection. Hunter watched as Saph pinned someone he didn't recognize to the wall, ready to jump in before he saw who it was and sighed with relief. He heard something about getting ready for combat and his attention finally came to complete focus. "What the hell? We just wake up from barely surviving this thing and now you want us to go out there fight blindly?! Whose idea is th-"

"Relax, Hunter! It has to be done. You've got an hour to get your act together," Bear said before dismissing the pilots.

Hunter swatted Saph's hand away, looking at her strangely before shaking his head and heading to hit the showers. He let out a sigh as the water hit his skin, glancing over to his scar. Guess we made it this far for some reason or another. We'd better not waste the chance. A smirk crossed his lips. At least we'll get to blast some of those bastards to hell, right? he thought with a chuckle.

After he finished cleaning up and drying off, he headed to his quarters and pulled his uniform on, pulling his goggles on over his hair and resting them on his forehead. He looked to the exit and shook his head with a smile. "No turning back now..." he said as he made his way out the door and headed to the hangar. As he walked in, he was lead to his green KNIGHT and he was immediately impressed. "Please tell me the one with the firepower is mine..."

"This is your partner, Hunter. Go and get yourself acquainted. I'm sure it'll be right up your alley given your history," said his escort.

Hunter's smile turned into a grin as he pulled his darkened goggles over his eyes. "It'll be my pleasure to work with you, big guy," he said while looking to the green and silver knight. He made his way toward the knight and let the crew members help him prepare. If nothing else, he would be able to learn how to make preparations for himself before he learned how to the help the others. Just let's try to come back alive...all of us... For the guys that didn't make it...

The constant sensation of what felt like hellfire running through his veins was killing Shu. The pain was so unbearable, all he could do was yell for the hours of pain he was going through. As time passed through the night the yelling and screaming died down to just heavy breathing in the room. Most of the room was very quiet but Shu could hear panting every so often from parts of the large room he was in. "What did I do this for?" Shu thought to himself as he gazed at his left arm where a scar was made from where he was injected with ZERO. He looked around the room to see if anyone else made it through the nightmare and he saw four others: Saph, Crimson, Obsidian, and Hunter had signs of movement and life. Shu figured everyone else to be dead as their bodies laid there with not an inch of movement. He noticed as most of them were getting up to leave the room after a huge guy gave them orders of getting prepared for piloting. Shu was shocked at the lack of time given to them after going through such a drastic ordeal. But he figured there was no arguing to be made really so he gather himself off the cool floor and made his way towards his room. He got inside his room and found a uniform that was colored royal blue and gold. He walked past it and got into the shower where he sat for a good 15 minutes. The water was a relief on his skin as he didnt want to get out of the shower. But he figured he was running low on time so he got out and got dressed in the uniform left for him. He looked himself over in the mirror to make sure he looked okay. He grabbed his goggles and put them around his neck and walked back down the hall. He was greeted back the huge guy who introduced himself as Bear. Fitting name Shu thought as he walked on through to a hangar where he saw Hunter, Saph, and Crimson were standing in front of KNIGHTS. They each had small crews helping them get acquainted to the KNIGHT they were in front of. Shu was directed to a royal blue KNIGHT with some gold trim. It matched the uniform he was wearing and he saw that it had modifications that seemed to fit his style. The crew around the KNIGHT were all saluting him which boosted the ego of Shu a bit. He laughed as he was told that this was his KNIGHT and that it was time to move out soon.

"Time to see if going through that hell was worth it."

Obsidian weakly forced himself up tightly holding onto the site of the injection. The pain from the chemical was almost unbelievable. They all were warned of the effects, but he thought it a twisted miracle from Hell itself that he survived.

He looked around the room and immediately flattened himself to the wall. Slowly, his sight returned as he made out a few others. Sapphire Magus... Crimson... Hunter... and finally Shu Kazumichi. It was obvious that they too were all still feeling the effects of Zero. Their breathing labored and their movements jarred.

Good. At least those whom have died today will be carried on....

He suddenly felt an intense rush throughout his entire body. His pulse beating so furiously that it was all he could hear. He thought for a moment he was soon to join the dead, but it seemed something else entirely was actually happening. Everything around him seemed blurred and slowed as the ordeal continued. He slumped against the wall, trying to gather his wits about him as the blur cleared and his pulse began to return to a somewhat normal flow.

"You... survived. ...ch of you, ...Zero ...body given your blood. ...will ...ction times, tougher skin, or even enhanced strength, but ...invincible because of this... all of you are still very much human... you're just able to push yourselves a little further than the rest of us....Those of you with positive blood may experience increased speed or even heightened senses. These reactions, can go either way, just be ready for whatever. Now... you five your time starts now. Welcome to the war pilots."

Obsidian could barely make out the beginning of the man's speech, but those last words rang through his ears almost all too clearly. He was now officially a part of the war.

Obsidian made no remark about anything he heard. He knew exactly what he signed for and what was expected of him and he would give no quarter for hesitation or doubt. He made his way to his quarters sliding off his boots, ripping away his shoddy black shirt, and throwing off his worn baggy pants.

My life means nothing if I can't protect everything I care for....

Some moments later a young woman entered Obsidian's quarters and called to him.

"Sir! You are to report to the hanger." said the woman. Obsidian startled her a bit as he casually walked towards her now fitted in an white uniform with a red crest bearing the words "KNIGHT" being the most distinguishable feature.
"So begins this journey...." he said walking out of the door.

Making their way through the long halls Obsidian's heart began to race. As the two entered the hanger he couldn't deny the slight excitement he felt about being given such a tremendous opportunity to prove himself.

"Your KNIGHT, Sir... the White Knight. Specializing in CQC or close-quarters-combat. It was specifically assigned for you due to your extensive experience with hand to hand combat, Sir." the woman recited. Obsidian looked over the impressive machine with a stern and solid face. It would be this mighty mechanical device that would hold his life as well as protect the lives of so many others.

"Obsidian Yore, Sir! White Pilot! Do you accept the responsibilities of this KNIGHT as well as the duty to protect every human being on Earth, Sir?" she declared to him. He looked proudly at her and then towards the KNIGHT.

"You bet your ass I do.".

Saph looked around, they were all here now, did that mean that they would be launching soon? She nodded quietly as her crew ran her through the KNIGHT one last time before a slight disturbance made the five of them look up. A young woman, maybe a few years older than them strolled in causally. She was beautiful, there was no doubt about that, but her eyes held a darkness to them that none of them seemed to understand.
"My name is Imera, I am the last pilot left alive from the last year. I can to give you all my best wishes. Good luck young pilots you'll need it."
Saph jumped from her KNIGHT and landed nimbly on her feet, she strolled forward.
"Is there any advice you can give us?"
"Fight hard, and don't ever give up. Not only that, watch each other's backs. Those things don't hesitate to take advantage of someone on their own."
She smiled sadly and put her hand on Saph's shoulder.
"They have no weak points, or weaknesses. So you all have to work together."
Saph looked around, they had all barely spoken through out their training, they hardly knew one another. How were they supposed to fight together?
Imera chuckled.
"I had my own doubt when I started, but trust me, you'll get used to it. You'll slowly become a family, maybe even find love, Who knows. Just have faith in each other and never back down."
Saph nodded as the woman left the hanger, she looked around at the others and shook her head. She didn't understand any of this and she was sure none of the others did either, but she knew that no matter what they were all ready for what ever they had to do. She made her way back to her KNIGHT as a siren suddenly began to blare through out the base, she looked back at Bear who nodded.
"It's time. Suit up and get out there."
Saph took a deep breath and climbed her KNIGHT quickly, entering the cockpit she blinked as it was extremely roomy, she stood there, looking this way and that til the cockpit filled with light and a voice seemed to fill her head.
'And who might you be woman?'
She looked around again, confusion evident on her features.
'Answer me girl or leave.'
"Sapphire Magus."
'So you can hear me, interesting. I see, Are you this years model?'
"A-are you the KNIGHT?"
'You may call me Averin. Is it time to go to war?'
She nodded slowly, a ring slowly descending down around her, a blood red body suit covering her skin, small sensors adorning it, she looked around, the sound and feel of the KNIGHT following her movements apparent now. Taking a step forward, the floor under her feet moved keeping her place as the KNIGHT moved once again, her surroundings flooding with light and coming to life as she was able to see the hanger around her, the door at the end opening to allow them out, the others were also moving slowly as they too became accustomed to the kNIGHTs. She blinked as she looked out into the swirling winds and sand that waited for them outside the base. Seeing shadows through the sand she frowned.
'Barons.'
She moved forward more now, her determination flaring to life as she reached down and pulled the pistol from the holster on the KNIGHT's side. Holding it tightly she quickened her pace as she headed for the exit, the wind whipped around her violently as she emerged from the base, instantly found her self face to face with a small wall of Barons, their sky blue armor and red eyes glaring at her from a distance. She could hear the others coming to stand next to her, their steps echoing around her as she stared their enemy down.
"I don't know what I'm doing..."
'Have strength woman. You have others to help you. Now, your not much good in battle are you?'
"I am trained well enough if that's what your asking."
'Than take that pistol, aim it, and shoot those bastard's heads off.'
A cynical smile spread on her features, and just before she raised the gun a deep, masculine voice filled the air around them as one of the Barons stepped forward.
"You must be the KNIGHTs my kind has heard so much about. Drop your weapons, surrender, and no one will have to die."
Saph stood firm, looking left and right at the others at her sides, none of them moved, she smiled, grateful.
"Are you intending to fight then? Your race's stupidity knows no bounds."
Saph frowned.
"That might be true, but at least we're never going to give up."
With that she raised the pistol in her hand and shot, the sound echoing around them all, and even though it didn't hit her intended target it started the movement around her, Shu and Obsidian launched forwards, their KNIGHTs hunched forward slightly as they ran across the sands, Hunter planted his feet as Crimson seemed to vanish as the Black KNIGHTs cloaking kicked in. Saph holstered the pistol and reached across her shoulder pulling a light machine gun from her back blinking as Hunter's KNIGHT kicked back slightly by a large blast sent from an equally large launcher grasped in his hands. Sounds of battle rising and blocking out everything else. Spah tried her best to stay amoungst them all in case one of them needed her, this was only the start.

I'm putting up a backstage thread for this right after I post, any questions you need or want to ask me. Edited by K.G

Crimson was looking over her Knight. The rifle it was equipted was massive in scale compared to normal guns. Crimson was touching the Knight's right leg when her attention was drawn to another woman on the catwalk above them. She looked very tired and like something was sucked out of her. The last pilot before them. Is she the only one who was left out of last year's batch? Crimson feels a little sad that in one years time. She'd be more likely to be dead either from the Barons or Zero consuming the soul. After Imera gave them all her best wishes. They started to climb into their Knights. Crimson was still feeling the after affects from the injection. Anyone could tell from just her face.

Crimson climbed into the small yet roomy cockpit of the Knight as even the interior was painted to match the exterior. Black with dark red highlights but the lights where white. That was ok with her. It was probably just to help get adjusted inside till combat or activation of the Knight. The door closed behind her whiched caused her to panic slightly. It's one thing to be underground. It's another to be inside something with no room. As she looks for either a way to contact the workers outside or a way out. The Knight spoke to her. The voice was male, deep based, and seemed to disapprove of her.

"So another wants to pilot me. So tell me girl. Why are you wanting out after suffering so much?" The voice says to Crimson. Crimson stops trying to escape the small cage.
Crimson looked around for a speaker or com unit for the voice to come out. "~Sighs~ Such a drag. My last pilot knew what to do. I see that they skip the training on Knight piloting. Such a waste of tallent. So I ask again girl." The voice says. Crimson assumed it was either programed or using internal sensors to detect her. "Why are you wanting out after suffering so much?"

Crimson walked into the center of this small room. Scared more so of the voice then the need to have an escape route. "W..we didn't even get time to rest. And y.your right. They did skip Knight piloting." Crimson says with a scared tone. She was trying to put herself back together. She spoke again but this time spoke a little more confident. "My name is Crimson. I'm the new pilot for the Black Knight. If I wanted out. I wouldn't have signed up for this or died with the others from the injection of Zero."

The center of the small room lights up as a ring starts to slide down from the ceiling to the floor. Crimson was right in the middle of it as this dark red sticky latex like substance was coating her body. Crimson closed her eyes and tried to hold completely still. As the latex like suit tightened on her body. Crimson left off a gasp before grabbing her right arm. Just above where they injected Zero. "That's more of the attitude I want to hear out of my new pilot. I took the liberty of looking over your appilcation files to the Knight candidate program. Very intersting and it's no wonder why you where picked as likely candidate for me. In time we'll get to become one. For now we have something to do before we sit down to talk more."

The entire room lit up as a holographic image of the rifle the Knight had appeared in her hands as well as the cap that wrapped around the body. Crimson moved her right arm. The Knight moved it's right arm the exact way she did. Crimson looked around. It seemed Saph was already on the move as well as Hunter and Shu. Obsidian and herself seemed to be bringing up the back end of the group as she slowly takes small safely guess steps to make sure she didn't do anything wrong. Her Knight spoke again.

"Come on Crimson. It's no different from what you normally do but instead of normal things. You are in me. We are one." The Knight says as Crimson shortly starts to walk normally. The floor moved to keep her in perfect center as the screens displayed a three hundred and sixty degree vew. The first one hundred and eighty degrees are primary line of sight. The extra is for when looking over the shoulder. Crimson speaks up as she follows Saph and the others out the huge hanger door to the sandy wastes where the Baron waits for them. "Do you have a name Knight?" Crimson wanted to know if she should just call it Knight or if it had a name. "Call me what ever you want Crimson." Crimson went silent. More so on appearing beside Saph near the right side of Saph's Knight. A little on thinking of a name. "First things first. Lets take care of these guys then come up with a name." Crimson nodded slightly. She was more interested in looking up the cloak. It didn't actually cloak her to make her invisable to the naked eye. It masked the Knight's EM and Thermal signiture from sensors which in turn made the Knight vanish from optical sensors.

The Barons where waiting for them when they all got out of the bunker. There where alot of them. Just from optical sensors there must of been a full platoon waiting. Five against a full platoon. Where they really no match against the Knights or are they only in large numbers to attempt to wipe them out only a few hours after surviving a long night of pain? The red stuff covering her body made her a little itchy but didn't want to scratch where it did itch. The Barons spoke. The nerve of them to order them to drop their weapons and surender. Crimson just gripped the hologram of the rifle. She knew what the Barons would do to them now that they are Knight pilots and what they would do to the people inside the underground base.

Then a shot rang out. Saph's first round didn't hit anything besides the sand a few hundred meters away behind the lead Baron's head. In a split second. Shu and Obsidian took off running towards the Barons while Hunter began to use high explosives against the Barons. Crimson's Knight activated the cloak as Crimson started to climb the sand dune behind them to get into a better overview spot to snipe from. Saph drew a LMG and began to fight. Crimson had to becareful snipping. With two melee units mixing with Baron units. She couldn't risk friendly fire so she aimed towards the back of the Baron ambush. Crimson would pick off other snipers and heavy units first. That would help Shu and Obsidian greatly and would take fire off of Saph and Hunter. The Knight's computer assisted aiming was enabled so the first few shots where slightly off. They severly damaged a few Baron's but not destroying them completely.

"Turn off the assited aim mode. Switch to manual." Crimson said to her Knight.

"Are you sure about that? You did hit them." Her Knight says sarcastically.

"Yes I'm sure about it. Switch to manual mode now!" Crimson hated the assisted aiming mode. That would before pilots who don't know how to use long range weapons. She knew how to utilize long range weapons.

"Fine Crimson. Manual mode engaged." Her knight said as the next shot took off a Baron sniper's head. The sand was a great buffer to the kick back of the rifle and also helped masked the heat blast from thermal sensors. Crimson felt like each shot was hours. It took her a bit to adjust to not aiming down a real sight but soon was using the Knight's rifle as she was handling her own.

The battle seemed to last all night. By the sun's rise. Crimson was down to her last magazine. Shu and Obsidian where beat up but still fighting. Saph and Hunter seem to be running low on ammo. They only had a few more Barons left to destroy before retreating back to base. Crimson moved constantly from one sand dune to the next after every magazine. It was important to keep moving least your position to be trianglulated and blasted on. If the group of five wheren't tired before. They sure would be when the battle was over.

Hunter approached his Knight with a smile still on his lips. "This is certainly a fine piece of work. Never seen anything more impressive til today..." he said, looking it over as he stood in front of it now. He pressed his hand against the Knight's ankle, looking over the anchoring system. "Guess this thing is made to stand its ground pretty well..." he noted as he looked the Knight up and down, returning to the front of it. "Guess it's time to see what the inside looks like," he said as he climbed up into the Knight's cockpit, stepping into the room as the door shut behind him. "There...are no controls. How is it operated?" he asked himself, looking around the small room.

"That all depends on who is asking..." came a voice from inside the Knight, causing Hunter further confusion.

"Wait, you can talk too?" Hunter asked the voice, thinking that his Knight was the source of the voice.

"Of course I can talk. Can't you?" it replied, causing Hunter to give a laugh. "What is your name?"

"Name's Hunter. How about you? You got a name, partner?" Hunter asked, smiling. He couldn't believe he was talking to this gigantic masterpiece of technology.

"You may call me Vox. Is it time for us to finally take to battle, Hunter?" Vox asked, with a sense of excitement in the tone.

Hunter grinned. "Time to show these Baron bastards what for... Sorry if I'm a little sloppy at first. They sort of skipped 'KNIGHT piloting: 101' in school," he said with a chuckle. "But as long as we can cause some explosions, we'll be good to go," Hunter added.

"Haha. No worries there, Hunter. Demolition and heavy arms are my specialty. You'll get to see what all you really have to work with once we get you strapped in," Vox replied as the room lit up and a ring descended from the ceiling, coating Hunter in a dark green substance with silver sensors along the suit made by the coating. "Feel free to browse our inventory before we reach our destination and thank you for shopping," Vox said as the descent was slowing up.

Hunter grinned widely. "Dear gods...I think I may have died and gone to heaven...! ...Or some explosive bound equivalent..." he said with a chuckle, pulling a squared object off of Vox's back and holding it over his shoulder as it deployed a barrel and extended backwards as well. "So we move as one... Don't have to think, just have to do... suits me just fine," Hunter said, his tone becoming serious. "Let's give these assholes some hell, Vox..." he said, pulling his goggles down as his Knight did the same. The Knights made their landing in front of a slew of Barons. As their leader seemed to ramble on, Hunter got more and more annoyed as soon as they started talking about surrender. As soon as Saph took the first shot, Hunter grinned widely, setting his sights amongst the Barons as the other Knights broke off into combat themselves. "Let's see what this cannon can d-" he said as he launched the first shot, sending several clustered Barons flying, as well as sending Hunter and Vox back a good bit from the recoil. "Huh...note to self: use the anchors..."
"Launcher is only good for two shots, Hunter. Make them count," Vox noted.
"Got it. I'll make sure to save it for later," Hunter said, stowing the launcher as it compacted again. "I'm more interested in these babies anyway..." he smirked, his Knight's shoulders opening up as a lot of lock on confirmations appeared on Hunter's display. "Mark all friendly targets as well to avoid friendly fire."
"Done."
"Opening fire!" Hunter yelled, his Knights anchors slamming into the ground as the missile pods unleashed a barrage of missiles, multiples slamming into single targets enough to incapacitate them as opposed to firing wildly among the entire horde. The chest cavity and other missile housing opened up, unleashing missiles on more targets as the other Knights engaged them. Hunter focused on support fire this volley, pulling out his assault rifle and laying down cover fire, using it along with his shoulder mounted guns. Gotta keep an eye on the ammo reserves, but this will keep 'em busy. Piss em off if nothing else... Hunter thought with a smirk.

"Prepare yourself for battle, Sir." the woman said casually. Obsidian nodded to her in response looking over his Knight with a glint in his eyes. It was truly something to behold. He noted that the Knight's wrists, elbows, knees, and feet were especially eye-catching.

"This reminds me of my training equipment back home. Those areas are weighted to add power as well as defense, but I wonder if those parts are detachable...?" he thought to himself. Obsidian did a quick stretch then nimbly made his way up to the Knight's cockpit. Entering the wide white and grey room he raised a brow as he saw that there seemed to be no controls whatsoever. Carefully inspecting every inch of the room he stopped and sat down in the middle of it to think.

"There must be something that I am missing-" he stopped near the end of his thought as the door of the cockpit closed and the room seemed to come to life, but as soon as the flashes and beeps started they stopped and the entire room went dark.

"I kindly ask that you leave if you are not my pilot...." said a tender voice from thin air. Obsidian, never really one to question the unquestionable stood up firmly.

"I am indeed your pilot, Obsidian Yore." he replied with steel in his words. Again, the cockpit sprung to life with flashes of lights and sensors all around him.

"Well, aren't we confident. If you truly are my pilot then you'll survive this...." the voice remarked. Obsidian watched as a grey and white metallic ring slowly descended surrounding him.

"Are you prepared, Obsidian Yore?"
"If I am not then death will be my punishment...."
"You're quite the solemn one I see."
"I'm prepared to give up everything to save this world."
"Well then... prove it!"

The metallic ring around Obsidian launched several long white wires that drove through his skin then lifted up once again towards the cockpit's ceiling until it slowly came down covering Obsidian's body with a grey elastic substance.

"I-if that's all...." he said slightly out of breath.
"No, now for the true test...." the voice replied softly. The wires that were now embedded into Obsidian's skin began to send bolts of electricity directly through him. Steadily the current became stronger and stronger until the pain nearly matched the threshold of the Zero.

"That was my true test for you, pilot. To utilize my full potential you must know the grasp of death."
"A-again... if that's all we have a battle to prepare for." he said with great calm and determination. The voice said nothing for a while Obsidian noted. He really didn't know if he had passed this so called 'test' of the Knight until the very hanger itself appeared to him. Not quite understanding he looked around and could only guess that this was indeed the Knight's viewpoint.

"Obsidian Yore, I am Guinevere the White Knight. You have shown me your heart now show me your spirit for the call of battle is my very life-blood." the Knight proclaimed.

The call for battle happened soon after. The Barons now right in front of him and the Blue Knight close by supporting a strong flank while the rest utilized their unique talents. Obsidian, relentlessly pounding his way through the ranks of the Barons letting the high of battle wash over him.

Shu stared over his KNIGHT as he was overtaken by the well constructed machine. There was sword on the KNIGHT's side in a sheath and it had compartments on it that probably held other weapons. He looked around, noticing everyone else getting accustomed to their KNIGHTS, and saw a woman walk into the hangar. There was something off about her to Shu. She was certainly pretty enough but it seemed as if something was taken from her. She introduced herself as Imera, the last pilot alive from the previous set of pilots. Shu was shocked by that fact and instantly realized just how grave a mission he is taking on.

Saph was the first to speak to her as she asked the question everyone was dying to know..."Is there any advice you can give us?" Imera responded with what seemed like a slogan for the military but there was a sense of depth to her words. Everyone could see just how serious she was as she continued on telling us just how we were to watch out for each other even though we havent known each other that long. A loud siren interrupted any thoughts everyone was having as it was time to mobilize.

Shu entered the cockpit of his KNIGHT and began to look around for anything that seemed familiar as he was eager to set out to the battlefield. Suddenly a strong voice began speaking to Shu.

"Are you the pilot of the Blue KNIGHT?" the voice spoke. Shu paused for a moment to see where the voice was coming from and realized it was the KNIGHT actually speaking to him.

"I am the new pilot of Blue KNIGHT Shu Kazumichi...do you have a name KNIGHT?"

The KNIGHT responded by lowering a ring over SHu which embodied him in a pilot suit and brought up a display for options. "You may call me Raphel. I see that you werent trained on how to pilot me...are you sure you are capable of handling my power?"

"I cannot say for sure but I can promise Im going to give you 100% as long as you will do the same for me." Shu told the KNIGHT. Shu heard what seemed like a chuckle to him as he explored more movements and features of the KNIGHT.

The hangar began to open up as the time to move out came upon them. Shu could notice the others getting accustomed to their KNIGHTs just as he was. They all left the hangar and arrived where the Barons were reported to be. Shu could see the vast amount of Barons all over the place. Shu and the other pilots stood their ground as the silence was broken up when Saph drew her pistol and one of the Barons began to speak. The Baron gave them an ultimatum but none of them seemed to be shaken by his words.

"Shu, are you ready?"

"Yes I am Raphel...I am ready to fight for what my heart desires."

"Good. Now draw your spear and fight with the fury of 10,000 men. You promised to give me 100% so I'll give you that and more."

Shu drew the spear his KNIGHT had stored. It was well built and had very sharp blades. Suddenly a shot was fired by Saph inciting the battle. Shu charged forward along with Obsidian towards the group of Barons. Hunter unleashed a small storm of explosives that took care of a few Barons. Saph also began attacking with a light machine gun and Crimson disappeared, most likely to find a vantage point. Shu began cutting through the ranks of Barons. He tried to get into an area where he could effectively take out Barons without getting in anyone's way. The words of Imera rang through his head as he didnt want to stray too far from Obsidian in case he got in trouble. Shu's spear was powerful as the force of being struck with it either cut the Barons in half or caved in their hulls. He got an idea while fighting and rammed his spear through multiple Barons and pinned them to the ground. A few Barons saw that he was without his spear and began to charge him only to be slashed by the sword that Shu had drawn from his KNIGHT's side. The battle was going well for them despite their small number and they seemed to be working together just fine. Maybe becoming a team was easier than Shu thought.

Saph continued to fire at the enemies, happy to see that they were indeed making a dent in the ranks of the Barons, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was just out of their sights that was much more dangerous. After another hour of fighting Saph had depleted her LMG ammo and was now working with a small rifle, firing small bursts of bullets, laying down cover fire for Shu and Obsidian. Saph blinked as the hair on the back of her neck suddenly stood on end as the voice that had spoken to them from the Barons at the beginning of the battle sounded above the fighting.
"Release the Beasts."
Saph felt her breath catch in her throat as five large, heavy armored Minotaur suites seemed to rise from the sand.
"Averin, check the armor on those things!"
'Consider it done.'
Saph watched as diagnostics came up on her screen, the armor was thick, unbelievably so; and Saph was sure that not even Hunter could pierce it. But as she heard a battle cry come from his direction she could tell he was going to try his damndest.
"Averin, can you open contact between me and the others?"
'Com link is secured.'
"Guys, that armor is way to thick! We have to take them down one at a time, together!"
It was then she realized that they were planning on just taking one each, and it was then that she heard the dangerous sound of her magazines giving the ominous sounds of being empty.
"Averin, please tell me that we have other weapons...."
'There are two heat scalpels on your wrists, and there is also shocks in your palms.'
"Shocks?"
'In case you must revive one of my comrades.'
Saph blinked rapidly.
"You mean to tell me that I have giant defibs in my palms?"
'That's precisely what I am saying. The armor on your palms will break away allowing you to use it properly.'
"How many volts are we talking her Av?"
'The defibrillators cover the entirety of you hand, and it is enough electricity to resuscitate multiple KNIGHTs at one time.'
Saph felt her mouth go dry. That could be very useful.
"Can you calculate how think that armor is?"
'Approximately twelve to eighteen inches thick.'
Saph grit her teeth, there was no way that each of them could take one of these things out on their own, her attention was drawn back to the battle field as she heard Obsidian curse over the coms.
"Averin, we have to get in there!"
She felt boosters on the backs of her legs come to life, and before she knew it she was dashing across the sands, bringing her arm up as she slid in front of the lighter armored White KNIGHT she could hear the crackling of wires under her own armor from the blow of the Beast.
"What are you doing Sapphire!"
"We can not take these things on our selves, we have to work together! Hunter, can you lay down cover fire?"
"Roger that!"
The barrage that followed almost made Saph cringe at the thought of the use of bullets it must have taken. She flung her arm to the side and felt the scalpel come loose easily, her injured arm sore as she could feel every thing that Averin was taking, was still in working condition.
'Right arm at 30%'
She nodded as she wrapped her fingers around the scalpel tighter surprised as the blade grew in length and intensity.
'You can control the blade since some of us are thicker than others.'
Nodded again she whipped around, her left arm swinging out in an arch swiftly, the heat scalpel connecting with the horn of one of the Minotaur suites. She could see the cauterized metal almost instantly as the horn fell of and into the sand heavily. She pushed Obsidian out of the way and into the sand as a large club swung over their heads, the rush of wind stirring up sand and dust.
"Obsidian, we have to regroup."
"But I can-"
"No, we have to regroup now!"
Saph looked up as a round bounced off the side of the things head, leaving nothing but a small dent and a scrape from where the bullet had hit. Saph figured it had to have been Crimson. Saph looked up as another of the Beasts slowly came upon her and Obsidian; Saph keeping between the two of them since her armor was thicker. She let out a string of curses as Shu joined them, his sword at the ready, and Saph could tell that the heat it was letting off was not going to be enough. Reaching forward she grabbed Shu by his shoulder and pulled him back, her right hand coming up as the Beast reached forward to grab a hold of the Blue KNIGHT. The armor on her hand gave way all at once, hitting the sands in pieces and she could see and hear the sparks emitting from her hand. Catching the Beasts hooved hand in her own she squeezed and watched as it's body was wracked with wave upon wave of electricity. It fell to one knee, it's head bent forward and Saph wondered idly if their suites were much the same as the one she was piloting, and if that suite had just taken that much voltage, the pilot was no doubt in immense pain, if not momentarily paralyzed. She reached out and grabbed the two men and pulled them back away from the enemy ranks. Once she had them back a far enough distance she thought safe she released them.
"Alright. That armor theit sporting is almost a foot to a foot and a half thick. We need to make a weak spot in that armor and have either Crimson or Hunter blast it and take these things down. Shu's voice echoed around her.
"What about you? Aren't you supposed to be light ammunition's?"
"I ran out of ammo. But I can still fight, all of us here are trained not only in our main area, but hand to hand as well. And I think it was for situations like this."
Saph looked out at the Beast with the mission horn, it was still struggling to make it's way to it's feet after her rough shock to it's system.
"I can disable it for a little while, you two can make an opening in the armor. Hunter, Crimson, after that it's up to you two to blast it to hell and back."
She got an affirmative from Crimson, but felt her expression dead pan as Hunter chuckled.
"Can't I just blow it to hell and be done with it?"
"If you could, don't you think you would have already?"
"Heh, figured I'd at least ask."
She shook her head at the man a little ways away from still and felt the armor on her left hand disengage leaving the defibrillator open as the Beasts stood in front of them. She shook her right arm slightly, it was still numb and she was sure she would have a bruise there by the end of this. As if an unspoken word was given, Shu, Obsidian, and her self moved at once; Saph falling slightly behind due to her KNIGHTs weight difference. She ducked down under a might swing from one of the monsters, her back hitting the sand as she slid between it's legs, regaining her footing she planted her hands to it's back and let loose another wave of voltage into it's circuits. She could see the lighting in the eyes flicker as it fought to keep it's system from shutting down due to the over load. Spinning around she planted her left hand in the sand and used her body weight to continue her attack, her foot connecting with the Beasts' back, hitting the monstrous thing between it's shoulders and knocking it forward onto it's hands.
"Now you two!"
Obsidian and Shu needed no further instructions as they rushed forward, Shu's sword piercing the armor slightly and pulling back for Obsidian to hit it with a well powered strike, the combined attack was enough to open a whole in the armor.
"Crimson, take the shot."
They all held their breath as the shot rang out, sparks flew and a loud, metallic groan filled the area as the Beast in front of them dropped, the hole created now doubled in size and blackened around the edges. They could all hear the system of the thing fighting to stay connected, and they all felt a small glimmer of pride as it let out one last groan before failing.
"All right! One down, four more the go!"
She felt the hair on her arms prickle suddenly, and heard Obsidian call out a warning to her, turning as quickly as she could she cursed as a club from one of the other Beasts fell down on her shoulder. Feeling the pain radiate through her own shoulder she yelped out a curse as she fell to one knee; the other two rushing forwards to cover her. She could feel the arm of her KNIGHT grow heavy.
"Dammit all. I have to fall back!"
Rising to her feet she ran back towards Hunter and kneeled down close to where he was, her cockpit opening as soon as her KNIGHT was settled in the sand.
"What are you doing? Are you insane?"
"I can't fight with this amount of damage to my shoulder. I have to at least get 15% of it back into usage."
Hunter just seemed to stare at her as she scaled her KNIGHT until she was at it's shoulder and began to pull small tools from seemingly no where.
"But-"
"Just cover me Hunter. They can only do so much with those things able to move!"
He nodded silently to her and returned his focus onto the battle field.
It felt like forever as Saph sat out in the open, the small welding tool in her hand producing sparks here and there are she reattached wires and rerouted some of the power from other areas of the KNIGHT into the shoulder.
'Woman, you must return quickly.'
"Just another minute..."
'Minute is up.'
Saph nodded and slid down her KNIGHTs armor and re entered the cockpit nimbly, once the cockpit was closed she felt the tingling sensation of the sensors once more as her screens came to life, only the arm she was just risking her life to repair only hung limp at her side.
"What's going on?"
'Your injured. I only work as well as your able to.'
"But I'm not-"
Her sentence died in her throat as she looked at her shoulder, the red suit darker as her own blood seeped through the material.
"I didn't even feel it..."
'You won't until you detach your self from my sensors.'
"Wonderful. So I only have one working arm?"
'Correct.'
Gritting her teeth she shook her head and pushed her self to her feet as one more of the Beasts fell into the sand, dealt a devastating explosive shot from Hunter.
"Let's just make it work."
'As you wish.'
"We don't have a choice right now Averin. Make it work."
Without answering her she could hear the gears be put into motion as the Red KNIGHT carefully made it's way back into the fray, her right arm now dull, the color seeming to have been drained from it as it swung lifeless at her side. The routine they had implemented seemed to be working as they slowly but surly brought down the Beasts one by one. It was when only the last one was left standing that Saph realized something off about it. The horns were longer, and curved out ward towards them wickedly, it was larger then the others as well, and some how swifter moving. Dodging her attack easily and slamming it's heavy hand into her shoulder blades. Feeling pain erupt from her back she grit her teeth and looked over her shoulder watching as it simply grabbed Shu's sword, squeezing it tightly and making the energy of the blade flicker before it fizzed away leaving no more than a scorch mark in the Beasts' palm. It reacted swiftly and grabbed hold of Obsidian's foot, swinging him harshly into Shu, both men grunting in pain from the abuse. Reacting as quickly as she could she came to her feet and brought her leg up and forward doing her best to block the spiked club as it descended towards Shu, screaming out in pain as the spikes pierced her foot.
The voice of the Baron echoing around them again, amusement held in his voice.
"We knew there would be new pilots, and even though young and inexperienced as you are you've managed to prove that the KNIGHTs of the human race are capable of much more than we give them credit for. All but one Beast brought to their knees. But let us see how you manage to take down our King Beast."
Saph felt her hope fading until she heard a confident Hunter over the com link.
"I got something for that big *****!"
The shot that rang out was thicker than usual and she could see a bright red spark attach itself to the monster looming over them as Hunter chuckled.

Hunter kept an eye on his assault rifle's clip, seeing that it was reaching empty. Not the best time...! he thought as he emptied it out by putting another Baron down, huffing as a beeping indicated that was the last round. "Vox, status on the shoulder guns?"

"Running low as well, Hunter. We do still have alternatives including your launcher and a sidearm specifically for specialized shells. Would you like to hear your options?"

Just as Hunter was about to respond, he could hear Saph's voice over the comm link. "Guys, that armor is way too thick! We have to take them down one at a time, together!"

"Take what down? The hell a-" Hunter cut himself off as he took note of the massive new foes who arrived on the scene. He stared for a moment. "Now that is a huge *****..." was all he could muster. He snapped his attention back to Vox's response as he started to regroup with the others. "Give me my alternatives. What's going on for cover fire and heavy rounds?"

"We are still looking at a full supply of rounds for our chain guns, Hunter. As well a-"

"Chain guns? Well, I guess I'm glad I wasn't thinking about that until you mentioned it. Might have used more than we should have by now," Hunter replied as he saw on the display where they were housed. A huge grin crossed his face as he saw how many rounds he was dealing with for these two. "These should last as a decent amount of time if nothing else...We'll worry about what else we got when we get through half of these, Vox."

"We're looking at nearly half a meter of armor on these targets, Hunter. Our rounds should make it through with concentrated fire, but other wise, they'll merely hurt. Although not a bad alternative, I suppose..."

Hunter gave a chuckle and smirked, slamming his hands down into either sides of the Green KNIGHT's tasset, causing it to separate and deploy barrels that were the length and diameter of his arms. He grinned widely as the Beasts came into range. As if on queue, Saph requested cover fire. "Consider it done..." he replied with growing laughter as he let loose a barrage of rounds into the Beasts, keeping them at a distance as the KNIGHTs regrouped. He gave an impressed look as Saph practically disabled one of them with an insane output of electricity just by stopping its punch. Once plans were laid down and the KNIGHTs moved into position, Hunter reconnected the tasset while still having it on his arms. While the CQC KNIGHTs made their move, Hunter spotted an opening. "Let's see how you like this!!!" Hunter yelled out a battle cry as he let rounds loose into their first target, letting off a barrage of bullets into it from both chainguns. It wasn't enough to deal any critical damage, but it was enough to keep it's attention divided. As they fell it, Hunter detached his chainguns from each other, keeping his fire on the other Beasts to keep them off of his allies while they didn't need his aid. Unfortunately, things seemed to go in the Barons' favor as the KNIGHTs seemed to be having a bit more trouble, especially as they brought in their "King Beast." Hunter stared blankly. "I stand corrected... THAT is a huge *****..." he said, shaking his head as he could see that his rounds weren't doing much. "Vox, what kind of specialty rounds do we have exactly?"

"I thought you'd never ask. Might I suggest Thermite rounds or satchels even?" Vox replied.

Hunter grinned again, opening communications. "Don't worry...I got something for that big *****!" he shouted as he dropped the chaingun in his right hand into the sand, drawing out what looked like a shortened shotgun from a compartment in the Green KNIGHT's hip. He took a shot on the large target, landing it square between its eyes, watching as a red spark came from the mark. "You three might wanna evac that particular area..."

"Why, what was that?" Shu said as the KNIGHTs got out from the Beast's reach.

Hunter laughed, stowing the sidearm. "Let's just say it's about to get hot down there," and if by voice command, the King Beast's head ignited, and the fire started spreading down its body. "Thermite rounds. Burns through metal like a match through gasoline. Bon appetite, Barons!" Hunter laughed, picking his chaingun back up and focusing fire on the Beast's head until it was forced onto its back. As each bullet struck, the fire spread faster, eventually splitting its head in half from the sheer heat on the armor. Hunter looked at the beast with a satisfied smile, watching it burn to the ground. Edited by Kayin

Crimson watches as Hunter push that big baron into the ground as the armor glows red from the thermite rounds. It gave her an idea though.
It's armor is weakened by the thermite and the amount of chaingun rounds hitting it. As it fell onto it's oversized ass she checked how much rounds she has left.
Five rounds is all she has left for her rifle. The armor of that thing might be weak enough for her rounds to slice threw and she still had her det-packs as well.
She threw her the last five rounds into her rifle before moving as fast as she could. She only had a few moments before that thing's backup systems kicked in.

Crimson opened a secure channel to Hunter, Shu, Obsidian, and Saph. "Friends I'm going to blast a hole in it's chest with the remaining rounds I have and shove my det-packs into it. That should take care of it but Hunter could you focus some of your rounds on it's center chest plate to speed the thermite up?"

"Sure thing Crimson." Hunter replied as she moved to a sand dune just behind the thing.

She waited as Hunter focused onto the chest plate of the thing. The thermite speeding up on eating that area as the rest of the team stay on edge just incase. Soon as she sees the spot where Hunter's chaingun's hitting the most glow red. She takes a deep breath as her Knight speaks to her again.

"You know that this could hurt both of us as well if you don't get it right the first time." The Knight says with little faith in her skills. "You did turn off auto-aim and I'm sure you can't land five rounds dead on while falling from the sky." Crimson just ignored his sarcastic comments as she waited. Hearing each round of Hunter's chaingun hitting the weakening armor of the beast.

Aiming down the sights would be a waste of time and she had to rely on her instincts to land each bullet precisely on a single point before landing on it's chest. Crimson closed her eyes as she started to run off the dune. Jumping at the last second to do a front flip as she uses the gravity to play into her aiming. It felt like forever for her. Each round went out of her rifle slowly. The bullet flies for a second before hitting the weakest part of the thermite infected armor. The last bullet leaves her rifle and breaks a small hole in the armor as she landed feet first on it's chest. Immediately slings her rifle onto her back with a clink from the mag-plating indicating the rifle was secure.

Crimson grabs the det-packs from under her Knight's chest plate before taking one off and shoving it into the small hole before standing up to jump off sliding the rest back under the chest plate. Next thing she knew was that there was a sharp pain in her back and lower legs before being flinged off the things chest. Rolling head over before slamming into a sand dune. It hurt more then she thought as her entire lower half was badly damaged. Her legs barely worked at all and with the slam into the dune. The rest of her body wasn't responding as fast. She lost the detonator in the rolling so the only way for the det-pack to explode is for Hunter to use a well placed heat round on it.

Crimson opens a channel to Hunter. Her screens where messing up and she was barely able to talk. "Hu..Hunter u..use a..a hea..eat round on..on the det-pack!" Crimson forces herself to say it loud enough before the link cuts out. In a few seconds she heard Hunter shoot one round before it's followed by a big explosion. She was sure that would be the end of that thing. No way the pilot could survive an internal explosion. She was looking over an outline of her Knight's body. She was still operational but repairs would be needed asap. Herself on the other hand could use a night in the er and a hot shower again. She pushes herself off the sand dune before stumbling around then falls onto her knees. Looking around to see Hunter, Shu, Obsidian, and Saph all standing over the big bastard's shell. They did it. They actually did it. Any remaining baron ran off with there tails tucked between there legs. Saph came on the screen as well did the others. They where all pretty beaten up and exhausted.

"Lets go home guys." Saph said. Crimson stood up. Holding her left side and goes to join the rest. Kicking the big thing between it's legs. Shu, Obsidian, and Hunter all said ouch over the comm when she did that. Knowing where she kicked she started to laugh before the pain in her left side cut her laughing short. It was time to return to base and hopefully get a well deserved rest. As they walked she started to talk to her knight again.

"Your name is Silvanna." Crimson said as she walked.

"Silvanna? Interesting name chosen by an interesting pilot. Seems that you are more skilled and lets face it. A daredevil then I originally took you for." Silvanna said as they walked back to base.

"Remind me not to pull a stunt like that again. Don't think command would like have a huge repair bill every time I go out." Crimson smirked and laughed slightly. "Oh remind me also to request specialized rounds for our sniper rifle. Standards aren't going to cut it against thick armored brutes."

"You got it Crimson. Now just concentrate on getting us home so you can see a doctor and I can see the repair team. Don't talk back Crimson." His voice sounded a little like the tone her dad use to when he was alive. Crimson stayed quiet the rest of the walk home.

Saph shoved the hands away from her as the doctors tried to examine her.
"I said back off!"
"Magus!"
Saph looked up as Bear walked in, his face set in a scowl.
"You took damage, you need to be looked over."
"I can tell you the damage I took, or have you forgotten I'm a medic? I'm fine, minor nerve damage, and a strained tendon. I'll be fine after a hot shower and meal."
Bear shook his head as Saph stood and walked over to Crimson.
"Stand."
Crimson stared at her awkwardly for a moment before doing as Saph told her. Saph went to work then, running her hands over the other woman's legs and ankles before moving to her lower back applying pressure and watching Crimson's reactions.
"You've stunned your back, and strained the muscles in your legs. Hopefully you didn't do to much damage, but by the looks of things...your healing already...?"
Saph shook her head and looked over the bruises that were slowly leaving Crimson's skin as Saph lightly poked them. Blinking she stood back at her full height and looked at the other woman.
"Same, get a hot shower and a meal in your stomach, as well as a good sleep and you should be fine. Amazingly."
She moved on to the men now, Hunter only have a few scratched on him from wild shots, they were only red and seemed irritated at most. Obsidian and Shu were much the same, a few bruises and scratches, but nothing major. Saph sighed in relief and slumped against Averin. She frowned up as Bear seemed to have a look about him that said he needed to say something.
"If you wanna say something, just say it. I don't think any of us are really in any kind of mood for crap right now."
The large man took a deep breath before pinching the bridge of his nose.
"You have a 24 hour grace period, After that you have an escort mission."
Saph stood, furious.
"Your kidding! That's barely time for anything! Some of us were injured out there! Isn't there anyone else?"
"No, your the last. Imera passed away less then an hour ago."
The information hit them all hard as they shared confused looks and murmurs.
"I don't understand, she was in here less than 12 hours ago wishing us good luck, she looked as healthy as the rest of us...what happened?"
"The same thing that will happen to you five most likely."
"Which is?"
"Conference rooms are better for these kinds of talks Magus."
Saph sat down on Averin's foot, silently telling the man she wasn't budging til she got some answers.
"I think the crews have heard this all before. But I don't think WE have. So I suggest you start talking, or I'll this KNIGHT and shove it so far up your-"
"Alright. It's the Zero. The chemical will break down your body over time, it eventually ages your internal organs to the point of death."
"Wait wait wait...are you telling us that we're aging?"
"About 4 times the normal rate..."
"And is there a cure?"
"The scriptures we found with the KNIGHT technology talk about a certain group of people, known as the Pages, these people would be able to resonate with their KNIGHTs."
"Meaning?"
"We have no idea. All we know is that this group of people are the true pilots, gaining long life, advanced abilities, better healing. These people are linked with their KNIGHTs in a way no one else ever could be. Once linked they remain that way. As long as the KNIGHT exists the pilots will remain until they are no longer needed."
"Wait you mean like immortal?"
"No, far from it. Just more durable. Faster healing times, harder bones so less likely of breaks, higher blood counts to reduce sickness...these people in the scripts are basically the KNIGHTs in human form. Able to take hits, and deal them as well."
Saph frowned for a moment, remembering the bruises vanished from Crimson's skin right before her eyes.
"So bruises would heal...?"
"In minutes."
Saph blinked rapidly, looking over at the others, they seemed, or acted oblivious to the information she was processing at the moment. Hunter's scratching being only mild rashes... What should have been fractured legs and spine from her fall, Crimson was on her feet, and walking around like nothing happened. Her own injuries even felt better... Her attention was snapped back as Bear seemed to get to the grave part of his tale.
"-The KNIGHTs reject anyone other then their true pilots, denying the resonation, and causing the Zero to age their bodies til death."
Obsidian frowned.
"And how do we know if we're the right people?"
"WE don't, YOU do."
Obsidian shook his head.
"How?"
"We're not sure. The basic signs are your healing, and ability to recover...but the signs can take a while to actually show...and even then...it might be a shot in the dark. We thought Imera was a true pilot...she had amazing abilities to recover from injuries...but we were mistaken."
"How long?"
They looked in Saph's direction as she asked the question that was no doubt plaguing most of them.
"We don't know...could take weeks, months...."
Saph frowned.
"Years? That we don't have?"
Bear nodded.
"Perfect..."
'Woman, I think you already know the answers to your questions.'
Saph blinked and looked up at Averin curiously before she looked back at Bear.
"You said we would resonate with our KNIGHTs. What did that mean?"
"It's said that the pilots would be able to communicate with the KNIGHTs, able to give or hear their voices and names. But so far, in the 50 years we've had them, no one has come forward to tell us anything."
"Does something happen if they do come forward?"
"No, nothing extraordinary."
"Which means there is something?"
"We would need to do blood tests to see if there was an unknown genome in the pilots that the rest of us didn't have."
Saph sighed.
"How many tests are we talkin' here?"
Bear shook his head.
"Enough talk for the day, the pilots ward is ready, you things have been moved from your personal rooms to your ward rooms. Get your rest. You'll need it."
Saph held up her hand quickly.
"This escort mission, what is it?"
"I can't-"
"You want me here? You better tell me something. I won't go into anything blind without properly preparing for it."
"We have to move the residents of the base. A rover will be here in 24 hours, you five will be escorting it to ensure the safety of the people of the base. We know the Barons have new suites, and we need to move to a more fortified base."
Saph nodded.
"Alright guys, you heard the man, get some rest."
Obsidian looked at her with arms crossed.
"Who died and made you boss?"
"The one who is gonna do your repairs as well as your KNIGHTs."
Bear shook his head.
"We have crews for that."
"Yeah? I don't care. I'm working on them."
She left no room for argument, instead looked over at Hunter.
"Get something to eat and whatever else you need. I want to talk to you about a few things. We need back up plans for these Barons. They're obviously getting tricky."
Hunter nodded and followed the others as they left the hanger, Saph looked over at one of her crew mates and smiled.
"You think it would to much to ask for a cup of coffee, a sandwich and a bag of chips?"
The young man smiled at her with a nod.
"Any preference?"
Saph shook her head with a smile as she headed for the Black KNIGHT first, having taken the most damage. She went straight for the legs and put her hand on the ankle as she looked up.
"I'll fix you right up, no worries."
The body suite gone now she walked over to the wall and pulled a pair of black overalls off the wall, slipping quickly from her uniform she left her white under shirt on and pulled the overalls on swiftly, zipping and buttoning up to her waist and then tying the sleeves around her waist. Pulling a baseball cap off the wall she tucked her hair under it as she slipped it on backwards and retrieved her tools. Working quickly she made minor adjustments here and there, pulling some wires loose and reconnecting them here and there. Wiping sweat from her brow she looked at her watch once she was done. 3 hours gone. Heaving a sigh she finished her 4th cup of coffee and asked for another as she moved onto her own KNIGHT.
'Woman, your running your self into the ground. Allow the crew to help.'
She shook her head, looking up at Averin as she climbed the ladders up to his shoulder. It took her a few more hours to rewire his circuits and fix his arm. 5 more hours gone, it was then she looked down as Hunter walked in. Seemingly showered and refreshed. She slid down the ladder landing in front of him making him blink. She was covered in mechanic grease and oil, her eyes blood shot, dark circles under them.
"You look tired."
"I'm almost done, have to resupply the ammo reserves. But I wanted to talk to you about idea for our KNIGHTs so what happened earlier doesn't happen again."
"What do you mean?"
"We were caught off guard, we need to be more prepared."
"For what? It's not like we'll be at this long."
Saph leaned on Averin as she raised an eye brow at the man in front of her.
"Who are you trying to fool?"
"What?"
"You can hear him, can't you. Just like I can hear Averin."
"Av- you know your KNIGHTs name?"
"Just like I think we all do. Hunter, your scratches, are gone. They were just patches of red earlier, but now they are completely gone. My shoulder and arm are fine...Crimson...she's walking around like that fall was nothing...she should be laid up in bed for weeks to heal her back."
"You don't mean...?"
"Have you noticed anything else? Brighter lights? Lighter objects?"
"No, nothing like that so far."
Saph nodded before she accepted yet another cup of black coffee from the young man.
"Alright, we need to get to work. I've been thinking..."
Her voice trailed off in the hanger as the two stood over a table talking, and coming up with ideas for the KNIGHTs so that the next time, they would have the upper hand.

Alright everyone, check the backstage. We're getting upgrades!

By the time they got back to the base. Crimson didn't feel like she didn't get thrashed by that big Baron unit and the explosion. She was sure she broken a few bones. Fractured some of her ribs and maybe get a few torn muscle ligaments from the rolling. Though she couldn't say anything about Silvanna. He was in bad shape. His right arm and leg where critcally damaged. The right side of the torso took mild damaged. The rolling did lightly damage the other parts of the Knight. She got out of Silvanna and started to walk around before sitting down. As she starts to relax a little. Saph walks over and orders her to stand. Crimson looked at Saph for a moment or two before standing up as ordered.

Saph begins to rub her in places. The injuries she felt after the club wack and explosion seemed to have gone from extrememly painful to just like combat practise or a rough party. She of course where Saph rubbed hurt but she only wenced. Saph told her to get a hot meal, a hot shower, and a good night's sleep. She saluted Saph and went over to Silvanna and the repair crew surround him. She wanted to make sure Silvanna was repaired well as she heard Bear telling them they only got twenty-four hours to relax before escorting everyone in the base to a new base.

"Twenty-four hours isn't long but least I can get a long sleep in." Crimson said as she let the crew do there jobs.

"It's long enough for a rest, a good mea, a hot shower, re-arm and repair. Get used to it Crimson. This is your life now." Silvanna said. Crimson looked around to see if the repair crew heard Silvanna. They where going along their business as Shu, Hunter, Obsidian, Saph, and herself are pulled into a conference room. The pilot they met just before being pushed out the hanger died a few hours before they arrived back.

Bear said she died because of her organs aging four times as fast due to zero. No wonder why Knight pilots last a year. Though she was doing the math in her head. If the internal organs age four times the normal. Knight pilots should last more then one year. Two to three should be the average. Four if they are lucky. Something didn't add up. Bear then said something about resonance with the Knights. They where dismissed and she made her way to the new quarters just for Knight pilots. She skipped grabbing food and a hot shower to just throw herself onto the bed and fall asleep almost as her head hits the pillow.

Her dream was filled with the battle. Silvanna's voice and images from her childhood. She slept for ten full hours which isn't normal for her. She usually sleeps for six to eight hours but the battle had worn her out. Crimson woke up in a cold sweat before sitting on the bed for a twenty minutes before taking a few deep breaths. Whipping tears away from her face. She cursed a little about her perfect memory. It was a gift and a curse to have the ability to remember every little detail even the feelings at the time. It made her nightmares living hell. She looked at the time. Ten hours she's been asleep and she smelled bad. So she took off her shirt and threw it in the hamper before taking off her bra then threw that into the hamper before she bent over. Untying her combat boots with a grunting sigh of relief.

Crimson took off her socks and threw them into the hamper as well before rubbing the soles of her feet then unbuckles the belt. Crimson pulled the belt from the belt loops and lets that fall to the floor with a clank. Then unbuttons the btu pants and pulls them off her legs. This time she walked over to the hamper and dropped them into it before slidding down her panties to toss it into the hamper. Though she just wanted to be with the other soldiers in the base. The perks to being a Knight pilot was pretty good. Her own room and it had a big shower. Crimson reached up and pulled a pin from her hair. Letting it fall down to her waist before running her fingers threw it. Sighing she walked into her shower then started to run a semi-hot shower. Crimson looked around before stepping into the shower. It was a habbit as she didn't like to shower with people around.

So she would take a shower when everyone was sleeping but now could take a shower without worry of someone walking in on her. The water feels good washing over her skin and in her long white hair. It took her a full hour to wash up before getting dressed in btu's and a black tanktop. Leaving her hair completely down then walks back to the hanger to check on Silvanna and to check to on upgrades for Silvanna. Hoping to get a larger and more powerful sniper cannon, better satchel charges, and better ammo for the weapons.

Before he knew it, the battle was over thanks to the swift thinking of the KNIGHT pilots in the heat of the fight. Beaten and battered, the pilots headed back to base in need of some much deserved rest if you asked any of them.

"Raphael...you were great in that battle. That spear of yours did some major damage."

"It was you who knew how to use the spear so well that allowed me to prosper Shu. And it seems that your swordsmanship isnt half bad either. You must have learned from a great teacher to know so much about both the sword and spear."

"Ha thanks. Maybe we can see about upgrading your spear a bit. I feel it should have more of a halbert style look so we can do more damage and break through some of these tougher hulls."

They had finally all gotten back to the base and everyone exited their KNIGHTS and gave each other smiles and nods to confirm a job well done between each of them. Shu pulled his goggles down around his neck as Bear soon entered the room with a stern look on his face.

"That guy never smiles." Shu thought to himself.

Bear had some medics come to look over everyone as they sort of huddled near each other in the hangar. Saph pushed away her medics as she explained she was a well accomplished medic herself. She backed up her comments with exact diagnoses of herself and the other pilots. Shu felt kind of awkward as Saph examined him, definitely invading his personal space. He would have to get used to that as they seem to grow more and more into a team. Bear finally spoke up and said the pilots had 24 hrs to rest up and get ready for an escort mission. All of them let out some kind of groan or moan before Saph began yelling about how 24 hours was nearly not enough time to heal from the injuries they had taken. Then it was revealed that Imera passed away a short time ago. Shu's heart dropped a bit as it was just less than a day ago that she looked healthy as ever except for that dark look in her eyes. Saph then got Bear to describe how she died and he revealed it was the Zero that did it to her. It aged her organs at 4 times their normal rate. Bear continued and revealed that there were these people known as "Pages," people who completely bonded with the KNIGHTS and were enhanced physically and mentally. They were essentially the KNIGHTS in a human form. But Bear had no way of telling us who the real pilots were, only the details of how one would know if they were a Page or not. He spoke of the communication between the pilot and the KNIGHT. Pages can hear the voice and know the name of the KNIGHT they belong to and can heal at an accelerated mark. Everyone seemed to look around at each other once they heard that wondering if the others could hear their KNIGHTS as well. Shu then looked back at Raphael and gave him a bit of a grin.

Everyone had been ordered back to the pilots ward to get some rest and some food in them. Shu looked over himself and saw his minor cuts and bruises seem to go away. He felt a bit better though still tired from the piloting.

"You guys wanna grab a bite to eat" Shu asked everyone as they were leaving the hangar. "I figured we could use the time to plan some strategy or just talk really."

Hunter and Obsidian agreed while Saph stayed in the hangar and Crimson left to go to her room. They headed to a dining area where there was some pretty good food to choose from. They each grabbed some food, sat down, and began to converse. Shu started off.

"Awesome job out there today guys. I have to admit, I was a bit worried when we were rushed into the fighting but once I got out there I felt determined to fight with everything I had. I guess we can get to know each other better if we're suppose to become a team of some sense. As you can see I trained in close combat weapons which I felt has given me the discipline to go on to be something in this life. Ha a girl told me she couldn't love me until I became something more...to this day I dont know what that means. Haha. But I fight for her, my 3 best friends, and my parents as they gave their lives to protect me as a child. Sorry if I'm sharing a lot to you guys. I just feel like I need to trust you in order for all of this to work out and letting you know just who I am is my way of extending my trust to you. So I'm sure you guys have your own stories. Mind sharing a bit?"

The first battle was finally over. The impressive Baron suits now reduced to burning piles of scrap metal.

"Hmm, that was quite a nasty situation...." he said to himself.
"For your pride perhaps...." replied his Knight, Guinevere. Obsidian gave a slight chuckle as he realized the truth of the Knight's words.

"Perhaps you're right, but you never truly know until you truly try...."
"Again, your pride is showing. I assessed those suits and there really wasn't another option."
"Hmm, I don't deny that... but...."
"But, what?"
"That was a close battle."
"How about a little more faith in your allies."

Obsidian grew quiet as they all approached the base. Immediately medical teams as well as mechanics swarmed them and their Knights drawing Sapphire's ire. She would personally look at each one of them including their Knights instead. Obsidian wore a small smile as she hastily moved away to assess the next pilot.

"A strong woman."

Obsidian narrowed his eyes and looked about for the source of the voice.

"Obsidian it is I, Guinevere. Do not alarm yourself."
"A little hard not to, but this is something I must accept."
"How about you just accept it and not add such a dramatic 'I must'."

Obsidian laughed for a second, but stopped as a few concerned eyes found themselves in his direction. A few moments later Bear announced that Imera, a former Knight pilot had passed away. The news put Obsidian on edge for a moment, but he swallowed the feeling and listened on to Bear as he informed them of a people called the 'Pages' and of their next mission. As much as Obsidian questioned and protested he remembered the words of the Knight as well as his strange link with the machine besides that. If he truly was the Knight's pilot he would know soon enough or simply die. No way around it.

After their order to get some rest and recuperate the Blue pilot, Shu extended an offer to dine with him as well as the Green Knight, Hunter in order to build up their comfortability as a team and Obsidian agreed. Shu told his story and Obsidian immediately came to respect the fellow fighter.

"I look forward to further witnessing your caliber as a warrior, Shu." Obsidian said shaking his hand. He then put his hand to his chin and thought of his own tale.

"There isn't much to say. I was raised to fight for I am from a family of retainers. For generations my family's blood has been spilled to protect something that someone has deemed important and we give no opposition. Our lord, my current master has charged me personally with this task. I am to defend her people from outside threats of any kind. The Barons are this threat and I will stop at nothing to see them annihilated. The care that my lord's family has shown for all her people... especially me... has proven to be just, right, and true. I will gladly lay down my life for her and her people. That is why I am a pilot. That is why I am here." Obsidian said somberly. Edited by Ol' Fighter

As Hunter departed from his partner when the group returned to the hangar, he could feel where he was hit by a few stray shots. That battle felt like forever being on the front line against the Barons. But to Hunter it was exhilarating to take back a little of what he lost by putting those Barons down. But now was a time to recover and resupply. As he was greeted by the technicians and medical staff, he had nothing to show. He did however glance back to his partner one last time. "We did damned good back there, Vox. We'll have to figure out what else you got in store for me before our next fight," he said, figuring he was talking to himself.

"No worries my friend. I'm sure you'll get the chance to explore our destructive options sooner than later," came from seemingly nowhere.

Hunter looked around, blinking. He glanced over his shoulder back at the Green Knight, smirking slightly and giving a nod. "Until next time, partner..." he said, looking forward to see the other pilots and Bear standing in front of him. "What is it now, man? Do we at least get a chance to rest?" he asked as he reached the others.

"In time, Hunter," was his response and was all that could be gotten out as Saph pretty much ambushed him to check if he was injured. The both of them probably looked just as puzzled to Bear as to each other. "You have a 24 hour grace period, After that you have an escort mission," Bear said, infuriating poor Saph.

"Geeze, old man. Hope you don't plan on running us into the ground already. We just started piloting these guys today," Hunter shrugged, shaking his head. Bear showed no signs of changing his mind and suggested the pilots get their rest...along with sharing the news of Imera's death. Hunter fell silent. "Well...that just made today's high point of the day... Sorta just-" Hunter dropped his train of thought. As Bear filled the pilots in on the history of the Zero, the Knights and the Pages, Hunter could only think of what happened to Imera happening to them soon. We have to win this fight then... We can't let all of our comrades and predecessors lives be wasted. In whatever time we have... he thought to himself, returning his attention to the others as Shu asked if they wanted to get a bite to eat. "Yeah...sounds good man," Hunter said, still trying to regain some kind of composure.

As the ladies headed their separate ways, the guys headed to the dining area. Hunter listened to the others' background as they ate, sort of impressed by the other two. At least their causes seemed a little more noble. Once it came to his turn, he took one last bite of his burger, setting it back on his plate and washing it down. He leaned back in his seat, lifting the front legs off of the floor. "Well...Let's see... I lost my folks when the Barons showed up, and by that I mean I got separated from them and I assume it was too dangerous for them to seek me out. Had to make a living off of not so commendable deeds. Hacking, stealing, nothing legal. Nothing the Barons were too fond of since I was using my skills on them once I got them down to an art," he said with a bit of a smile. "But I'm not in this fight for anything like you guys. I'm in it for payback and I wanna kick these assholes off of our planet in tiny particles," he said with a chuckle. "Unfortunately, a lot of my practice was on other people, ya know? So I can't let all that be in vain. Though I did take my thrashings back when I got caught, it taught me it wasn't all about surviving with money. It taught me how to hold my own, ya know?"

Saph woke up from what seemed to be a sharp jab to her sub conscious. Blinking rapidly she stirred, rubbing her itchy eyes as she sat up.
"Uh...Oooo whua?"
'You were sleeping in a puddle of your own fluids.'
"Huh?"
Saph looked down at the table and could indeed see a large puddle of drool, she shook her head and looked at her watch confused.
"How long have I been out?"
'A few hours, maximum.'
She nodded and stood back up downing the cold black coffee next to her as she looked over the charts she had just picked up as well.
"Alright, Hunter, Shu, Crimson, and Obsidian are done. It's your turn Averin."
'I do not want anything to be done to me.'
"We need better systems in case those things come back."
'What did you have in mind?'
She gave a sheepish look before scratching the back of her neck.
"You know...I'm not so sure my self..."
Running a hand through her hair she sat down cross legged on the cold hanger floor looking up at Averin.
"You have any ideas?"
'Perhaps a few.'
Saph listened closely nodded here and there to show she was indeed paying attention.
'-all of which I've thought of because it is apparent that even with your training in light arms, you are not that good of a shot.'
Saph felt her cheeks heat.
"I'm better at close combat to be honest...but that's Shu and Obsidian's forte, not mine."
'Woman, I am extremely diverse. How can you not know what to do with me.'
"It's not that easy Averin. I have to make it work with the others..."
'Your a doctor. What other 'weapons' does a doctor use? What weapons can you use? Your said close combat is something your good at. What is it your good at?'
"Capoeria."
'Kick boxing?'
She nodded.
'There is more to you then I fist thought.'
She looked up at him confused as he began to talk to her about a few things. In the end they came up with a strategy that worked for both of them.
Saph began her work immediately watching through the window as the outside world slowly turned grey as dawn came close and closer. By the time she was done with Averin, it was time to move. 24 hours had passed just like that. She wiped her hand across her cheek and smiled as Bear walked in, obviously expecting to be the first one there.
"Upgrades and repairs done."
Bear frowned as he looked over the KNIGHTs, they all looked different, the armor was brighter, newer, and seemed thinner.
"Are you out of your mind Magus? You could get them all killed!"
"No, are you out of your mind? You could have gotten us killed in that rusty, heavy armor we were all wearing. At least in this we'll stand a better chance. Not only that everyone has a few new tricks up their sleeves. You don't like it? I don't care. You need us to live through this right? I just insured we will."
"I told you to rest."
"I slept for a few hours."
"You need more then a few Magus!"
"Who are you kidding? I'm a doctor. I've gone for longer on less."
With that being said she climbed up towards Averin's cockpit until she heard the others begin to enter as well. Scaling back down she put her hands on her hips and waited. Hunter was the first to say anything.
"Nice job, you installed everything perfectly."
"You gave good schematics. Alright guys, here's the deal. The armor is new, it's thinner but tougher in all the right places we all need. It'll make us all lighter and more agile on our feet in case we end up getting to close to anything we don't like. Now, everyone got a few upgrades, I'll let you all discover those on your own as you will. Hunter came up with most of them I just installed them. We're good as new and ready to go. So, what are our orders?"
Bear shook his head but stood at attention, causing them to do so as well.
"In one hour you will be escorting the Rover Base, a combat unit specially built to transfer the remaining human race from base to base, keeping them safe inside. We'll be heading inland, the terrain will get rocky and more unstable as we go. Perfect ambush conditions. Our battle formation is as follows. Crimson and Hunter will be stationed on top of the Rover, providing cover fire and long rage scouting. Obsidian, Shu, and Sapphire, you three will be on ground, Your KNIGHTs are the quickest and more easily movable. You move out in exactly one hour."
Saph nodded and went back to her duty, she looked over the pilots briefly taking notice that every injury they had sustained, was gone. Nodding gratefully she moved back to Averin and began to run diagnostics over his system. Once she was ready she simply sat on the edge of her cockpit and watched the others. Hoping that this escort went easily enough, though she was sure that wasn't going to be the case.

After grabbing some food with his fellow pilots Shu decided to get some rest. He went into his new room where his stuff had been moved. He searched around the room to adjust to where things were as it was different from how he used to having his room. Things were neatly placed but he couldn't find this small box he kept. After frantically looking around everything his room he found the box in a drawer and pulled it out. He sat down on the bed and opened the box. Inside were 3 pictures, a crest, and a few notes. Shu smiled as he pulled the things out and looked at them to gain a sense of serenity in this hectic time. He looked at the pictures first. Each one telling its own story. The first was of Shu and his family(mom, dad, older brother). They seemed so happy in the photo. The 2nd picture was of Shu's friends and him all celebrating. The 3rd was of this girl. She had the prettiest curly hair and nicest smile ever. She was gorgeous. A smile came to Shu's face as well as tears came into his eyes as emotions seem to consume him as memories ran through his mind. He picked up one of the notes and began to read it. It was from the girl...her name was Hana.

"Shu:

You have always been the light of my eye. You never leave my thoughts as I think of you always protecting me. We have grown up together and things have changed much between us. I know you love me with all of your heart but my heart doesn't know what it desires. I thought I wanted to be with you forever but something tells me that isn't the right choice. I feel my heart belongs to another and you were meant to just protect me. I'm not sure what to feel now. Maybe if you become something more than I will know for sure if we are meant to be. Until then, I'm afraid I have to say goodbye to you. Just remember that you'll always have a piece of my heart wherever you go and I hope I have a piece of yours. This crest is to always remind you of me so you never forget. Always be safe.

-Hana"

The tears began flow stronger from Shu's eyes and he laid back in his bed. The strain from the day's activities and the strong emotions he was feeling caused Shu to fall asleep. He slept for the longest time waking up every so often as he would get a shock from his dreams. After awhile he seemed to be fully rested. He checked the time and saw he still had a few hours before he had to report back to the hangar for the next mission. He decided to practice his swordsmanship a bit and looked to find a large enough empty room. He figured why not return to his old living quarters as that room should be cleared out now. After a short walk to the room, he drew his sword and began working on the skills he had learned. Time flew by as Shu got lost in his swordplay trying new techniques in order to maximize his usefulness on the battlefield. With a loud yell and a powerful slash, Shu stood in the room tired but mentally stronger. He knew it would take a lot to get through this process of dealing with the Barons and there was little room for error. Instead of fighting his feelings, he would use them to make him stronger. The things that held him back would now be the things that would propel him forward and then maybe he could finally be "something more."

Crimson came into the hanger to find Silvanna with new armor. It was different then when they left for battle just over a day ago. The armor looked very thin compared to traditional armor.
Though Saph and Hunter where already in the hanger. Crimson ignored them or any attempts to get her attention as she scrolled away on attatchments to her rifle. Also on detailed maps
on the route plus on any known baron unit. Looking over any structural schematic for exploits and design flaws for her to use. Knowing that it could be completely outdated but it was all she had.
She got lost in reading on everything possible for the next mission. Though she got threw it within two hours with more then four hours to go before Silvanna reached out to her.

"Seems like you are thourogh with your prep work Crimson." Silvanna said.

"It's usually my routine before rushing out the way we did the other day." Crimson says while checking out rifles the base had in stock for Knights. Mainly Silvanna. "We almost died because of inadiquet weaponry and ammo."

"You did very well with what you had. I say even with standard equipment. You are one precise and deadly sniper. So...who trained you?" Silvanna seemed to be interested in her past.

"Depends on which parents you want to know." Crimson slides down the lader before taking a computer off the maintance cart to check on the camo-cape. "My mother was the best sniper in West Point before the barons showed up. My father was a top grade sabature."

"Was? So I assume they are no longer with us." Silvanna says as Crimson stops running systems checks. "Oh...I seemed to hit a tender spot. Sorry didn't mean to upset you."

"My parents put all there knowledged into...me..." Crimson said returning to her system checks. "No don't tell me your sorry and I want to talk about it. Both my parents put all there knowledge into me by putting me in a chair with a helmet that transmitted it into my brain. I wanted to close my eyes. To close my eyes and shut the images, the numbers, weapons spec, everything they know before..the sounds where added. Most of my pre-teens and early teens after the barons arived where like that. From the second I woke up till they thought it was enough. When I was fourteen was when my parents died. They gave me time to run before my home for years....was turned into a glass crater. They gave me the skills to survive but....." Crimson trails out.

"Wow...explains your talent at such a young age. Sorry about your parents and what they did." Silvanna says while Crimson wiped away the tears before she finishes her system checks.

"But they didn't give me the skills to be a normal person. So being said I may only be your pilot for a year. Maybe a little more if I'm lucky. So I'll focus on protecting those who can. Now lets start pre-mission start ups and check list." Crimson said as she starts the pre-mission start ups and check lists.

"Oh ok then. Lets started. The sooner the better and Crimson. From what you told me...sounds like they where trying to give you the chance to find them on your own. Anyways...I'll run a diagnostic on my nano-suit compound." Silvanna said as Crimson just nodded while continuing with everything. Finishing just under an hour before mission launch.

Hunter grumbled...a lot. "How the heck am I supposed to test out our new tactics if we have to be stuck in a single spot, Vox?" he said as he started running diagnostics over the Green Knight. "I mean, yeah you're designed for that, but this fuckin' sucks..." he muttered, typing on a virtual screen.

"Hunter, I'd like to be the first to say that you're overreacting...as a friend," Vox replied with a chuckle.

"Look, I may be overreacting but I take pride in my designs. For me not to see them in action is like a punch in the gut, man. You've gotta understand," Hunter replied, looking over their supplies and rounds. "On top of which, I hate being in one place for too long. Makes me really uncomfortable... Especially when you spend a great chunk of your life constantly on the move..." Hunter let out a sigh as he climbed up into the cockpit, taking a seat on the floor of it.

"Hunter!" a voice called from below, causing Hunter to borderline growl as he looked down below to see Bear calling up at him. "I can see you're about ready to get going. Good to see it."

"Yeah. Ready to go and sit on my duff on top of a moving target..." Hunter mumbled.

"Drop the attitude, Hunter. If it helps, I'm sure you'll be glad to have the Rover supplying you with a constant flow of rounds for your weapons," Bear replied as he started to walk off to check the other Knights' status.

Hunter fell silent before a grin spread wide across his face. "Well, this sitting duck thing has its perks after all.." he said with a chuckle.

"And here you got all worked up over nothing, Hunter. Now don't you feel silly for getting so upset?"

"The hell with that, Vox. I'm just happy that I'm going to be able to lay down some heavy support fire!" Hunter laughed. "Let's get suited up and get rolling ASAP. I'm ready to blast these Barons into nothing," he said with a smirk. "It'll be nice to have some extra am...mo..." He paused and stared blankly before his eyes seemed to start focusing.

"You alright in there Hu-"

"Supply pylon!" Hunter said suddenly, cutting Vox off. "I'm going to have to start working on something when we get back from the battle. It'll be something to help everybody out," he said, smiling brightly. "This is gonna be awesome..." Hunter stood up, leaning out of the cockpit. We can definitely do this...

Obsidian followed a few minutes after Shu to return to his own quarters, though his right hand was planted on his stomach.

"Mm, that food was not to my liking..." he said as he approached his room, but as he closed his eyes before the last few steps to the door he suddenly found himself with a slight bruise on his forehead and his bottom to the floor. Dumbfounded, he quickly picked himself up rubbing his forehead as he did so.

"Again, this happens. It seems as though I move from one spot to the next in a mere blink of the eye." he thought to himself as he entered his quarters and sat upon his bed. He stretched out the sleepy miasma of the meal and decided to take a quick run around the base. After running for what he thought for sure was only 15 minutes he stood once again puzzled as his stopwatch only read that he was a mere 8 minutes in.

"T-this is maddening. Either this device is wrong or I am at a loss of time."
"It's not wrong, Yore. You're just moving a little faster than normal."
"Bear."

Bear walked up from behind him holding a stack of papers as Obsidian stood in the doorway.

"Your Knight has a few new improvements for battle. Here are the schematics."
"Understood, but what you said earlier... what did you mean exactly?"
"Again, you're just moving a little faster than normal. It is one of the beneficial effects of the Zero specific to negative blood type pilots, but...."
"But what?"
"Your accelerated healing as well as the others' was to be expected, but the additional effects of Zero... your heightened speed in this case shouldn't be so apparent yet. What wounds did you receive during that battle?".

Obsidian removed the top half of his uniform revealing a few slight, but visible scraps.

"Hm, so your healing isn't as well as the others, but it seems your speed will truly be your best factor." and with that Bear left to tend to other business. Obsidian glared at Bear as he left his quarters then began to read over the schematics as he himself went for the hanger.

"Guinevere." Obsidian said entering the Knight's cockpit as it hummed to life.
"Obsidian." the Knight replied curtly as a visual of the new attachments and armor appeared on screen around the the cockpit detailing all the areas which were improved. Obsidian simply sat down and closed his eyes.

"I take it you know of the improvements already?"
"Yes."
"....and?"
"There is no and."
"Confident?"
"Why shouldn't I be."
"Indeed, but...."
"What is it?"
"Arrogance."

Obsidian shook his head at the Knight's words and began to meditate. He would be ready for battle when the time came and that was all to it. His confidence as a fighter was made steel years ago and the only thing that truly was on his mind was the Zero and its effects.

"I wonder if the other pilots are as in the dark about this, but perhaps I need not ask questions for I am here to simply do one thing. The complete annihilation of my lord's enemies. Nothing more. Nothing less.". Edited by Ol' Fighter

Crimson finished a complete systems check on Silvanna with about an hour to spare before mission clock starts. There was alot of action inside the base.
Civilians and military personal where packing everything that could be carried out. Mechanical crews where taking anything that could be transported off their bases.
Crimson figures she had enough time to head back to her old room to retreive a few items she had stored in a locked heavy footlocker. She patted Silvanna's leg before walking off towards the crew quaters. It was busy in the hallways. People moving with dufflebags filled with everything they could fit for a while. It took her twenty minutes to get past the crowds before reaching the intersection hallway that leads to the quaters. It was silent and errie as only a few MPs that stopped her a few doors down from the crew quaters she was assigned too when she arrived at the base.

"I'm sorry miss but orders are to make sure everyone is on the rover. I'm affraid you'll turn around and head to your predesignated evac area." One tall MP tells her as she leans a little to see the door she needs to get to.

"Please I just need to get something out of my footlocker. It's important to me." Crimson says as she tries to push by the MPs to get to the room.

Both the MPs grab her by the arms and try to hold her back before one MP notices her platnium-white hair and looks over to his friend. Then they let her go before saluting.

"Sorry Ma'am. We didn't recognize you." Says the slightly shorter MP. Crimson salutes the back before she nodded.

"It's ok. Don't worry. It will only take me a few minutes. Please go make sure the rest of the personal and civilians are evacuated before the rover arrives." Crimson watched as the two MPs salute again before continuing on their patrols to evac everyone out.

Crimson walked into her old barracks then stops to look around. It was so empty. All the beds are stripped bare of bedding and most of the foot lockers are opened and emptied except one. It was all the way in the back where only one bed remains neatly made. Her old cot and underneath her old cot was her foot locker. She walked down the row of bunks. Her hands touching the cool metal which only a few hours ago had soldiers sleeping in them. This base felt more like a home then a military instillation for the past year for her. Though she kept to herself most of the time when she could.

Though it's only been three days since she became a pilot. It seemed like years since she was in this room. She reached her bunk and kneeled down. Reaching under her old cot and grabbing the handle to her footlocker. It was heavy but she gently pulls on the handle to make it slide out from underneath. It came faster then she thought but she didn't pay no attention to that and pulled a key from her pocket. She inserted the key to the lock and twisted left. Hearing the click of the locking mechanism releasing. Pulling the lock off and lifting the lid up on the footlocker. She put her hand in and pulling some standard btu's out of the locker. Underneath the standard cloths was a falls floor panel.

A dial pad was underneath it as she entered her numerical password to unlock what she was really after. The false floor panel opened up and she pulled out a gun case, a pciture, a small medical pack, and a little black case before putting the panel back then putting the cloths back ontop. She placed the small medpack in the lower right pouch on her right leg, the picture and the little black case on the upper right pouch of her right leg. Pushed the locker back under the bunk before grabbing the gun case and standing up.

Then she made her way back to the Knight's hanger. The hallways seemed so quiet without the people in them. For the first time since she was fourteen. She didn't want to leave this place but they had no choice. It was exposed and it surely was going to be targeted by the Barons in the near future. It was only logical to abandon a base that lost it's strategic value. Still it will take her time to get used to a new base and new faces. She made her way back to the hanger with twenty minutes to spare. She made her way over to Silvanna with hopes that she'll be able to get suited up and ready before everyone.
