1. Definitely not my theory... here's an article from an Eva website...
ARE THE EVANGELION BASED ON THE BARONS OF HELL? This question is one that takes fans completely by surprise. To many the evangelion represent the pinnacle of mans achievement in science and the perfect unstoppable combat weapon, to others its a 60 meter tall walking nightmare of uncontrolable temperment. Gainax truly unleashed a monster to the world when it created the concept of the evangelion and their AT-fields. The appearance of the evangelion are awe inspiring, although the evangelion are primarily for combat they are also full of symbolism. Many do not know that these designes were actually based upon the Barons of Hell. Ritsuko Akagi describes the Evangelions as being "Something created by Man, in Man's own image", like man being created in god's own image. The Barons of Hell, are to explain literally are, the lords of hell. The Baron's of Hell were a legend of Christianity during the medieval times. It is said that one of them had "a single horn and great gnashing teeth (eva 01)", the second had "a blank, featureless face with a single glaring eye (eva 00)", the third was "the color of blood, with four eyes and two mouths (eva 02)", and the last "black as night, with unnaturally long arms and wicked teeth (eva 03)". No doubt these sound oddly familiar to the evangelion units.
Sorry again for the spoiling -_- (Notice I'm using spoilers now :) )
2. To add to this whole questions thread, I have another question that has to do more with speculation than anything else. Evangelions are fighting angels. The 4 Evangelions each represent the
Baron's of Hell; 01 for great gnashing teeth and a single horn, 02 for blood red body, 2 jaws, and 4 eyes, 03 for its pitch-black body and unnaturally long arms, and 00 for its expressionless face with a single glaring eye.
Now, how do you guys interpret that? Srry bout spoiling
wolfwood's death
QA -_-
3. I am in disagreement with the whole gay/lesbo thing(religious thing, so don't ask), but I am tolerant of anyone who is gay or lesbian, and will respect that. I really don't think sexuality is something to base judgement of a person on. As for pairing up two straight anime characters and putting them together, I personally see no attraction about that, but since anime is the over-blown version of reality, people tend to have their imaginations run amok about anime... So I guess I can't blame them.
4.
Originally posted by DeathBug As for the ignorant masses, social progression will eventually weed them out. Like I said, any group that makes their environment uninhabitable is doomed, right?
That statement of yours is making an assumption that those who care about the environment live together in a group... not so.... environmentalists are spread out throughout the planet... You can't bring in the survival of the fittest in this scenario. Edit: Meh, I'm out for the night. I'll come back tomorrow.
5. Only Mods explain/enforce the rules. Basically, the argument has come to A) Humankinds can think therefore are worthy and B) Humankinds think and cause damage to the environment therefore are not worthy. This debate can go both ways. Its hard to say which is right and which is wrong at the moment because its weighing the pros against the cons and they are both rather vague...
6. True, we alter the environment for the worse faster than the other species, but for the better, we are just as slow at it as the other species. We may intend to do it for the better, but unforeseen repercussions spring up and make it worse. And environment went along fine because it was all works of nature. Mankind creates things not originally found in nature, we dump it, and it takes years to decompose. We also created the hole in the ozone layer. We have done, and continue to damage the environment.
7. And the constant flux of the environment keeps the equilibrium, which in turn leads to balance. We are interfereing with that, though for the better or for the worse, only time will tell(though its probably for the worse) And remember I am referring to humanity in general. Though you say millions try to make the environment better, there are even more who doesn't do anything about it, and doesn't care.
8.
Originally posted by DeathBug As for 'balance', other lifeforms do not keep in balance by any sort of choice on their part. They don't care about the ecosystem, they care about eating. The only reason any sort of 'balnce' exists is because there's always some lifefrom to eat any lifeforms that get too populated or rowdy.
Yes but they do keep the balance don't they? Even though some may argue that its because they don't think, they are actually more beneficial to the environment than us. Thinking may be a gift to us and a curse to the planet.
Originally posted by DeathBug However, whenever a species gets smarter than the creature that prey on it, the environment changes. That's what humanity is doing. however, we're unique in the sense that we want to change iit back.
So we are trying to have ourselves get eaten by predators again? Anyway, wanting to change it back is pointless unless we do it. Just saying, "We are planning to protect our environment by...." is pointless unless we go out and do it.
9. Yes but the wants and needs of the other organisms that inhabit this earth does not extend to the disruption of the ecosystem and extinction of other species. They are all balanced. Humans, however, though their intentions be for themselves or for the planet, has the ability to destroy the ecosystem and lead to the extinction of many species. Though we are able to think, we simply meddled in the balance, and now it is either we must fix it or we will die along with the rest.
10. Envisioning and striving for really does not make one worthy. No other species care. Why? Its because what they do keeps the balance of nature. What we did screwed up the balance of nature, and if things seem to be falling apart, its cuz we interfered and screwed it up. Whatever we envision, is something we destroyed ourselves. I say its our duty to return the planet before we polluted it. (I keep switching sides -_-)

Kuiju Lovers

I personally love Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman, stuff like that :) used to watch them in my childhood and they get better over the years too :p P.S. Its Kaiju not Kuiju
12.
Originally posted by Phantom Oh yea 1 more thing.. In the end, its not about if we deserve or not.. lol..WEERE HERE!! Give it up :)
Yep lol. This thread is kinda pointless if you remember the fact that we are kinda.... here already :p Saying we deserve to live or die won't change that fact -_-
13. Meh, but since we are all alive, we can have our own opinions as to if we think humanity deserves to be alive. Dark obviously thinks that all of humanity should just die out. Others think otherwise. Its all a matter of opinion.
14. Its funny how we refer to 'humanity' in the third person view while we are of humanity and we are gonna get hit with whatever 'humanity' decides to do. (Remember Dark... you are also human... giving up on them means giving up on yourself)
15. Geez you are soooo negative dark... environmental issues were not really recognized or addressed until recently. Human beings were simply did not realize the repercussions that came with technology until recently. We are now trying to correct the damage we've done. Give them time and have some faith.
16. Find a very, very good hiding place and you should be fine. I have my anime stuff stashed away in so many random places that my parents can never find them, and I always forget where I put them -_- I come across these random stuff a year or two later after I hide them, and reminisce about old times lol
17. Oh come on, Kenshin and Kaoru are 10 years apart but they still make a great couple. Kenshin being incredibly strong when necessary, but Kaoru being the head of the household for the rest of the time :p
18. The value of life differs from society to society. I will retract my earlier statement on technology and the deterioration of respect vs. life. Its arrogant to assume so for the whole of mankind, and the value of life really is different from say China to America to Britain.
19. And who is to decide the qualifications for deserving existance? Its just simply a matter of opinion about human nature whether you take the Hobbesian view of human beings being chaotic and evil in nature or the Lockian view of human beings are good in nature.
20. Yes, but an extinction of a species may have unforeseen repercussions to the human race. It may result in crashing the ecosystem by chain reaction. I saw an interesting commercial in the tv once. It was a huge domino course set up with an animal or a plant drawn on each piece. One animal tipped over, and the all the dominos fell one by one until the last one with a human picture also fell. I think its like that.
21. Well, Kaola,
Wolfwood died so you got your wish
:p *also has some qualms about Wolfwood + Millie* PLEASE use spoiler tags when referring to stuff such as that. Some people may not have gotten that far in the series. Thank you. *QA*

Cry

Hm.... crying isn't something I'm that familiar with... I don't really think I ever cried over someone dying or suiciding. I never had an instance to cry over in OB(since I'm one of the newer members), and I doubt I ever will.
23. I tend to see that more in a selfish fashion; human beings are rather forced to be more environmentally aware because if they don't, they are going to screw themselves over. Its simply for their own good. Probably makes no logic, but I am not feeling logical at the moment.
24. Point is, its too easy to take a life nowadays. Even little kids play with a gun and accidentally shoot themselves or someone else. And to the original question, yes, we deserve to be here. Humans are capable of logic and reason, and though we kinda screwed up, I hope we will do better in the future. If they screw up again, well, then its Ragnarok and we all die.
25. I stand by what I said in a different post that with the advancement of technology, humankind has less and less respect for any life in general. All you have to do is pull a trigger.
