1.
Originally posted by Shinmaru I think it looks okay. It is admitedly a bit plain but it's still decent. I especially like the pic of the Sephriothic Chart - looks very good. A good start seeing as this is only your second (I think) slide show banner.
Yeah, you are right. It is plain. I have to spread my wings a little more, maybe, and try something new with a slideshow banner. The Sephriothic Chart banner is my third moving one, actually. Remember the FLCL one, and the Instrumentality Project? Here is a new avatar for my close friend Shinmaru. He said he just wanted a picture of the Zookeeper from a specific episode of Futurama. So I found the pic (By an amazing stroke of luck) and cropped it. I know this one is very plain. I didn't want it to be a great one to begin with. ^_^ I was just doing a favor for a friend.
 2. Sorry I haven't replied in here in the last week or so. Homework in combination with forces out of my control (i.e. poor DSL connections) reigned terror over my computer for seven days or so. But we have a four-day-weekend starting today, so I'll probably put up at least a couple of banners. Here's a new banner inspired by the Sephriothic Chart from Evangelion. I am pleased with how this worked out for me. I didn't have to worry about any special editing or much cropping, no moving images.. Just a plain old .GIF file. This isn't one of my favorites, though. Just a bit too plain for my liking. Oh, and it's 2 seconds per frame and there is little to read, so hopefully I won't get any comments on slowing it down. I thought about that ahead of time.
 3. I tend to like the annoying, semi-evil character in a series for whatever reason. The logic behind it is beyond me, but that is the way it is. Of course, that means my favorite character is Sora. His personality bothers me but not in a bad way, and his abilities as a fighter are near unsurpassed. His color scheme is really nice too, but that really bears no relevance. Katars are also my favorite non-projectile weapon. Again, I'm not sure why that is.. Perhaps it's the fluid movements of a katar-wielding fighter when they are battling. Something about it appeals to me. (And, for those of you who don't know, katars are those things on Sora's wrists) Darn Crim..
Defeating Sora because of "Heart" and "enthusiasm"..

 4. Wow, that is some pretty awesome work, even if it isn't you're best. Still, though, this is really up there in comparison to any great computer work, I think. The avatar looks a little big, but that isn't a problem at all. This is very impressive; did you actually take a second or two from the Naruto opening and just crop it, or what? The little transition between the end of the movie and the beginning is small but noticeable, yet it still is an amazing piece of work. The banner is also very nice. It looked like you put a lot of time into this one.. It's very well done framerate-wise. Again, the only problem with it is the transition, which is more noticeable in this. But still, you cannot do anything about that due to size limitations, and the overall quality of the banner is enough to make up for it. 9.8/10 See, Kazuko? I'm not the only person who uses a one or two pixel-wide border!
 5. Ah, yes. One Piece, currently the most popular shounen manga in Japan. I find this series pretty enjoyable, though it isn't quite my favorite Shonen Jump title ever (That space is held by Naruto). I haven't downloaded any of the anime episodes, because my morals kick in every time I try and download a 28-minute movie. Thus I am left with the manga, which is pretty nice. The plot is original (I don't think I've ever read a pirate manga before) and the animation is nice and crisp, with everything being either black or white. No grays in there except for in flashbacks. That sort of gives it an "old-school" manga feel, from a time before there were computers that you could use to add shades of gray to pages of comics. In that way, it somewhat reminds me of Dragonball manga.. Overall, I find the series a little too light-hearted for my taste. That's not to say it doesn't have its dark moments, though. The character design is a little too cheery and vibrant for my taste. Their eyes are pretty wide and cartoony, for the most part, which is not exactly my favorite style ever. Think more Yoshiyuki Sadomoto for me. But yeah, this is a really awesome series, and it is one of the first sections of SJ I read when I get a new issue in the mail.
Mimmi originally wrote: I've heard that there's at least 140 episodes. are there more than that ?
Yeah, this is one of those anime series that is adapted from a long running and popular manga, meaning that a new episode comes out every week and there are no off-seasons. By now, there are probably at least 170 episodes or so. At least, that's my rough estimate.
silvercloud originally wrote: One Piece Rocks! It is one of the best anime/manga I've ever seen. By the way, does anybody know if Chopa joins the crew? (the movie I have stopped right before they asked him)

Yes, as a matter of fact, Chopper (I prefer spelling it that way) joins the crew and becomes the mascot for Luffy's crew, as well as a good deal of One Piece's merchandise.

 6.
Originally posted by Mr. Period In FLCL, aside from the south park styled scene in the barber shop and naota having his parka tight around his face, like kenny, what is the other south pak thing in the show?
A car explodes at one point and a bunch of stuff (Including a Kenny doll) flies out of the car. I believe it is in the same episode as the South Park barbershop scene, but I am not sure. New Question: Excluding the end theme, what was the last song to play in FLCL episode 6?
 7.
Originally posted by Crazy Ace i dont know if anyone mentioned this before but since the tech isnt ready for a true virtual reality game we can have a game that has the goggles that let u see from a player in the game's point of view but thats it. U control everything with some type of controller. it may not sound so awesome as a true VR game but its a start
Actually, here's my thoughts on the .hack//SIGN realism factor.. If Tsukasa was caught in the game, everything seemed real to him, right? Sight, smell, touch.. So would that mean that all the people moved realistically as well in Tsukasa's eyes? If that is the case, then perhaps the entire series is seen through what Tsukasa would have seen if he were watching the stuff going on. That doesn't explain .hack//Legend of Twilight, though. Why is that one so realistic? Well then if you had a series with nothing but un-lifelike people in revealing clothing walking around without much other than dialogue ballons and some voice chatting. The series just wouldn't be right without the level of realism. And that's my two cents.
 8. Well, you have to also keep in mind the possible costs of adding extra materials to a DVD. If you look at major American DVDs, such as The Matrix or Harry Potter or the like, they have tons of extra features. But at the same time, they come from high-profile, wide-ranged company, such as in these cases, AOL Time Warner Incorportated. Bandai and ADV and such are popular companies for the otaku market, the anime industry, yet a good deal of the United States pay little mind to the Japanese animation market. So if you can jack up the price, as Amibasuki previously stated, you really don't need the extras. Of course, it's quite the treat for avid fans of a series, but it's not too logical to think people are going to say, "Ooh! I'm gonna buy a 26-episode long series I've heard little about for $130 because it has outtakes!". If someone really likes a series, they are going to buy the DVD anyway most likely. Director's commentary may assist the motion, but it still wouldn't make too much of a difference, profit-wise. It often depends on the popularity of the series before the DVDs are released, partially. If a series has a large fanbase in the US and was popular in Japan, they would probably put more effort into the discs, to please the fans. If a lesser-known series is released and is considered so-so, they probably would stick a textless opening and ending into it along with subtitles and the Japanese language track and ship 'em out. It also seems that in some cases different companies have higher quality extras than others. ADV seems to have decent extras most of the time, and Bandai does well also, but Viz and Funimation (not that I.. Purchase from Funimation..) seem to lack a little more. There's probably some flaws in logic somewhere in this, but I'm too tired to notice them..
 9.
Originally posted by Kyo no Ryu That is the hardest avatar to see ever. At first I thought it was just 2 flames. You should have used the other image. Blech.
Honestly, that was the point of the avatar. At first it really seems like nothing much, but as you look at it its true form appears as if by magic. Or.. Something like that, I guess. Plus, if you see the first episode of Evangelion, whenever Sachiel's eyes flash something bad happens, most often an explosion comes up somewhere. Thus the two flashes of light coming out of the avatar. And that would be difficult finding a new pic, considering I specifically searched for a picture of Sachiel's main mask just like the one in the avatar and banner. Nearly everything in my art is intentional. I carefully look over each piece before I post it. The FLCL one somehow slipped by, but whatever. Oh, and I've been weighed down with a lot of schoolwork for the past two days. That's why there hasn't been a new banner. In case anyone was wondering or cared. EDIT: Here is my second moving banner, inspired by the Instrumentality Project in Evangelion. Originally I had itrunning at one second per frame, but the guidance of Maladjusted brought me to two seconds per. This one came out well, I think, except for it's a little discolored around the text. That was a side effect of converting the JPEGs to a GIF, I guess. I got rid of what I could, but with the limited tools of Animation Shop Pro 3 it was rather difficult. So enjoy, everyone.
 10.
Originally posted by Kyo no Ryu Hmmmm, the FLCL banner looks no different to my untrained eye, but its still cool. The third eva banner is pretty cool too.
Well, I just sort of slowed it down a bit and got rid of some of that black line that was on the bottom. Nothing really that drastic. I decided that I liked the Sachiel banner I created so much, that I will now use it as my signature's image. And thus, to go along with that, I made a matching Sachiel avatar. I accidentally made it 90 by 80 pixels at first, thus sort of reducing the quality of the image when I downsized it. So, yeah, this one is smaller than the other avatars I have made. 79 by 70 pixels, to be precise. Still though, I'm using this one for my signature. *shudders* I need to figure out how to keep pictures more high-resolution when I resize them..
 11. Okay, so here is the revised version of the FLCL moving banner. There's still some work to do with the line at the bottom (Parts of it continue to elude me), and I have a bit of a shading issue, but I'll tweak that later. Now here is my next banner depicting Sachiel, The Third Angel, of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Actually, I quite like this one. Not as much as the Asuka banner, but this one is up there. I used some strange lighting effect on my brush when going over Sachiel's mask.. Or head.. Or whatever that is on the left side of the banner. It took me a while to find the materials and eliminate the backgrounds. I think it was worth the three hours, though. Thanks for posting, everyone. I appreciate it.
 12. You're very welcome, Shinmaru. It wasn't a trouble at all. I decided to use the gift of Animation Shop Pro 3 that came with Paint Shop Pro 8 today, because I was bored, and here is what resulted. I am quite fond of this work. It was intended to be rather fast and somewhat plain. Putting in a colored background was not what I wanted. Finding a good color for all the frames would have been difficult. If I did different colors for each frame then anybody who sees it may have a seizure. I also wanted the frames around the pictures to be rather scratchy and not neat. It somewhat fits the tone of FLCL, I think. Now I have a dillema. I have different banners and different avatars I have made which I like for different reasons. The Rei avatar is very pretty, yet the Asuka avatar is the best I've done yet. And now I have this, which I am rather fond of as well. So there's no real way I can have a dark blue avatar with an orange and red banner with blue text without anything clashing. Why am I worried about this? I really don't know..
 13.
Originally posted by Shinmaru Some really nice work, Sennen. Since I have the inside scoop, I got to see a few of these banners (okay, only one -__-) before Sennen posted them here, hehe. Anyway, really nice work you have here. My favorite is definitely the Asuka banner - the flaming red looks very, very cool. If it didn't say OtakuSennen on it, I'd think about stealing it for myself (though, I'm still waiting for you to post up my new biatch banner ~_^). I didn't really think that the green worked with the Shinji banner. It just looks a bit odd to me. The banners are a bit plain, too, but I'm still not sure if you've gotten used to the program yet, so I can't really hold that against you. But it's still good work, especially since you're just starting with the program. I look forward to better work from you in the future ^_^
Heh, the Asuka one is definitely the best one. That's a fact. The Rei one was too experimental, and the Shinji one was too quickly done. I wanted the third one to be different from the other two, not just color and picture-wise, but I didn't find anything that I liked.. I'm still experimenting with opacity. I haven't really used any non-solid pictures yet.
Maladjusted originally wrote: All three of your banners seem to follow the same format, Sennen, with the picture at the extreme left side and your name in the bottom right-hand corner and CGed middle. Try messin' around with other stuff. ^_~ Anyways, I like the Asuka banner the best. I really like what you did with the red stuff in the middle. I really have no idea how people do that, lol. The avatar goes along with it nicely as well, so good job. ^_^ Anyways, the Shinji banner is a bit iffy, but it's good at the same time. Er...yeah. I personally never liked Rei that much but yer banner is still great. XD Hope to see more!
Well yeah, I intended for them to be similar. Part of the recurring theme. My next ones are gonna be different. I think.. *mutters to himself*
Rei is essentially Kaworu in the end, so I don't know what you're whining about.
Heheh. Just fooling with ya, dear friend. Well here is Shinmaru's new revised banner, intentionally rather dull and put together in five minutes.
 14.
Originally posted by AzureWolf I don't know why you used green for Shinji. I mean, you were on a roll with blue for Rei and red for Asuka, but where did green come from? O_o Certainly, I think purple would be a better choice, and, if not that, at least a brighter green to emphasize the pattern more. And yeah, the picture isn't the best of the best, but I know you were trying to look for a "profile" angle. However, why don't you try to also make a pattern out of that and make Shinji look in the other direction that Asuka is looking? Just suggestions, don't have to listen to em. :p
I sort of wanted to have three main "element" colors for these three banners. Blue for sky or water, red for fire, green for earth. In a way, they reflect the characters personalities. I think. With the effects I use, you kind of see wind blowing by Rei, fire behind Asuka, and a partially shaded meadow under Shinji. So you could say the darker color is the shadow of a tree branch, the lighter color being the un-shaded grass. I searched through twenty-five pages of Asuka, Shinji and Rei pictures. These were the best I could find out of all of those. I would have much rather had a high-quality pic of the First Child as seen on the cover of the first Eva graphic novel, but I could not find one, and my scanner did not make a very good one either. I might have scanned in the first DVD cover, but that isn't the greatest picture of Shinji ever, I think. (Sadomoto's drawings are better than the actual television series' animation, of course.) I'd like to use one of these three for my banner/avatar combo, though I am not sure which. So I would appreciate it if people said which they thought is the best, as I work on my new theme. Thanks a ton.
 15. Well, here is the Shinji Ikari banner I made, completing the Eva children theme. I don't like how this one came out. The picture isn't of the highest quality ever, and I couldn't find a text that I thought went well with the banner. But I want to get this set over with (Maybe I'll remake the Rei and Shinji sets some time in the future) and move on to something else. I'm thinking of making a set based on some of my favorite video games and/or games that I am looking foward to.. You'll just have to wait for me to post them to see what they are. Oh, and I couldn't find a good picture for a Shinji avatar. If anybody wants to see one, you can find one and PM me, but it is not at all my top priority at the moment.
Kyo no Ryu originally wrote: Oh yeah asuka, I like the banner but he avatar is BORING. Ill se how tha one looks with inverted colors... yep! it turns a really cool blue!!!
Yeah, I tried it, but I didn't get what I wanted from my banners when I used the effect. Thanks for helping, though, Kyo. Or should I call you Ryu?
 16.
Originally posted by Kazuko Nice Sen.I love this effect you used for the background and the fade into Asuka. As for constructive criticism: 1.For some reason the huge 2-3 pixel border bugs me,make the one in the center white,or just cut it down to a one pixel border 2.The name.Put a space in between Otaku and Sennen;it looks better that way. Also, change the font or space out the word 'Sennen',a lot of the letters are sticking together. That's pretty much all I have to say.Nice banner Sen-kun ^_^
Yeah, this burn feature and this long brush are amazing. I have grown quite attatched to them. Probably because it's the simiplest feature I've figured out how to do well so far. o.o' 1. It's a two-pixel border.. I think I'll just change the color of the inner one some. 2. No problem, though I do kind of like how the letters are jammed together. Well here's the Asuka series avatar. Syk convinced me to leave it rather plain and simple. I don't like this avatar as much as the Rei one. I think I'll make a second Rei banner, a better one, so that I can keep this dark blue scheme going. I don't think I'd be fond of an orange/red font in all my posts. Blue is much more.. Me.
 17. Eh, I tried it, Azure, and I think I'll keep it how I have it. I want to think of this one as my first banner that I did entirely by myself, without assistance from others.. Besides, this sort of appeals to me how it is, for reasons I do not know.. Well, I think I'm going to make banners in themes-- My first one being Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley Sohryu, and Shinji Ikari of Evangelion respectively. Each theme will have a certain layout and similar backgrounds and such. Here's the Asuka set. I like the Asuka banner more than my Rei banner, yet I like the Rei avatar more than the Asuka avatar. I think I'll add some sort of effect to the avatar tomorrow. As for the moment, I am tired and shall be going to bed. EDIT: Heh, seems you can't attatch more than one picture to a message, so I'll wait for someone to come along and post..
 18.
Originally posted by Syk3 Heh heh...leaf... Now onto the imrpovements that can be made. First of all, you probably could have used a higher quality picture of Rei. The text could be a little better as well, whereas the faded one in the back should be bolder and larger, and overall, there are better fonts out there. Also, you may want to make Rei's face a little more distinct as the foreground image, and by that I mean not fade the background into the side of her face as much. Overall, great banner, Sen. One of the best I've seen from you...if I have. :) Better than the one I made for you for sure.
Well, I went through all 25 pages of Rei images on a Google search (Went around all of the perverted stuff) and those were the best I could find. I do agree though, the avatar's source isn't the best quality picture ever. *sniff* But I like the text the way it is.. -- Well, I changed the avatar a little bit. I used the "burn" effect on the brush, making it sort of look like a chalk or charcoal drawing. Enjoy.
 19.
Originally posted by AzureWolf The compression on Rei's face is too noticeable. Since the banner's size (memory) is so small, I think you should just leave out any compression to get rid of that blemish. Besides that (and adding a black outline to the text to make it stand out more), everything is fiddle-danish-andy. What program you be usin'?
Heh, I'm not quite sure how to de-compress anything yet. I just got the program yesterday. So many buttons.. This thing has, like, 1,000 times the features of my former medium, i.e. MS Paint. I kind of want to keep the text a little concealed. I think of Rei as the main focus of the banner, and everything behind rushing by, somewhat (Thus came along the blurs in the background). The name is just temporarily stopping. ^_^' It's kind of hard to explain outside of my head. Sorry if it doesn't make sense. It's Paint Shop Pro 8, by the way. Awesome program, though rather complicated. I think I'm getting the hang of it, though.
 20.
Originally posted by instantramen14 The words are kinda hard to read. Thats all. Everything else is great.
Do you mean in the banner? If that's the case, I'll change that right now.. I got rid of most of the white there, but decided to keep the mostly transparent name. Then I had the craziest idea. "How about I take a leaf from Syk's book and do a solid text right in front of it?" And I did just that. Keep it coming, everyone. EDIT: I added a black border. I think it looks sort of unfinished without one.
 21. Well, here is the first banner I have ever really made all by myself. Actually, I'm pretty fond of this one. The brush I used on the background gave it a nice touch, I think. Kazuko was the first to witness this one (through AIM), and he thinks that I should have left the area around my name un-clouded. I'm fine with it either way, but I'd like to hear what the people think. I made this to go with my new Rei Ayanami avatar I just created. I think they compliment each other rather well. Rei is good. Everybody likes Rei. My current banner is really totally awesome, but if you all say you like this one I may change it. Comments and criticism, please. Thank you.
 22. Well, here's another sketch. This one took me about an hour or so (I remember because I watched one entire episode of I Love The 80's Strikes Back when I was making it). I think I may touch this one up a little bit with Paint Shop Pro once I get the hang of it, and if people like this one. I really dont' like this one as much, though. Their faces didn't come out how I would have liked them to. Especially the guy on the far left. And then the one on the near right (that's a girl. You're really not supposed to tell throughout the series, but she is) looks more fierce than I wanted. I prefer the first one I posted better, but I tried to keep the bodies more proportionate on this one, with thicker arms and more shading. This pic shows the four main characters of my series plus their little emblem that I have associated with them. It'll all be explained once I post my actual manga and stories in the literature forum. All in due time, my friends. All in due time.
 23. Yes, some of you may have heard of it through instant messaging or private messages, but you have never been able to see it. For weeks it has filled your brains and consumned your souls. But now all of that is about to change, for now we see... OtakuSennen's art. *dun dun DUNNN* Well, actually it's not very good. And this first one has really thin hands. And I did this in pencil in about forty-five minutes, so it isn't too great. ^_^' The caption is too small, but it reads as follows: "Why is his name in katakana? ...I'm not too familiar with Kanji and/or Hiragana yet.." So, review as you please. There's only one pic as of the moment, but I'll probably be updating very, very often. PS-- It's not good. Cut me some slack, people. I'm but twelve years old here.
 24.
Originally posted by teptep well it would be disapointing to not have someone in the game from the show, truthfully I hope this is so, as for helba's life and sp maybe that is good but maybe her stats are bad, maybe one hit could take off a good chunk of her life.
I don't think that having SIGN characters in the games would be such a requirement for a good game. It would just be pretty cool, I think. Well then what is the point of gaining levels and such if your stats are low? Normally in an MMORPG you gain two or three points in each category. Plus, if Helba has maximum health and magic, wouldn't that defeat part of the purpose of being a hacker in a game such as The World? Normally they make their own areas and make them selves extremely strong, correct?
 25. Um... Yep, they are going to release the full boxset on the day that the final DVD comes out, I believe. So that makes three items you will be able to buy on that day, if you really want to buy the same thing several times over: -Regular DVD -Special Edition DVD set with the box and some styrofoam where the other discs will go, plus some other stuff they may include -Complete boxset with the
"hidden" word on the sides of the discs, aka "logout".
^_^ I'm not sure what the box will look like, though. If it's like the Japanese version, then it's basically characters and the logo on a rather pastel/light colored background. I bet the American version is gonna have more hexagons and dark blue with keywords all over it, though. That seems to be the recurring theme on the DVDs over here in the states. But then, at the same time, they may wait two or three months before releasing the box, so we'll have to wait and find out. I'm pretty sure Bandai hasn't announced it yet.
