No; discard effects can only work when there are cards to discard. The same thing would go if you had a face down Magic Jammer, and couldn't activate it if you were to have no cards in your hand. The only cards that I know that can "lock" are Yata-Garasu and Mystical Knight Jackal.

I don't think so; your opponent has to make the monsters attack during his or her turn. I think the main purpose to Shadow of Eyes is to de-activate a flip-effect monster, and then eun it over with a high-ATK monster of your own. ...That's how I'd use it anyway. To continue with my friend's question, Exiled Force needs to be tributed to destroy one monster on the opponent's field; kinda of like a kamikaze man-eater bug or something. And from what I remember about Heart of Clear Water, it's an equip magic card that must only be equipped to a monster with a low ATK, and that monster can't for any reason be attacked. I think.

Burori, I'd just like to say that I like that you're trying to use rarely-used cards like Last Warrior and Relinquished (he may not be rarely-used, but I don't hear a lot of reports about Relinquished decks), but as far as the rest of your deck goes, it doesn't look focused. I may be wrong in saying this, but I think you need more monsters that share a common thing- attributes, types, stuff like that. It doesn't always work, but decks like that are just easier to control. It does look like you have a backup Water strategy; maybe you should focus more on that. Add another Legendary Ocean, and maybe try to throw in Gravity Bind or something. Replace Enchanted Javelin with it, if you don't mind. That might give you an edge. ...It's just a suggestion.

I think there's some truth to that, Deathbug; it has been pretty cute so far... But then again, most Tournament duels start out small and (to a degree) innocent. Then the really big fights kick off. I'm guessing that by the time this story arc is over, we'll see some of the most memorable action in the series yet- of course, it will be overshadowed by the conclusion of the Battle City Finals. BTW, I really love penguins- they're my second-favorite bird in the world, next to crows. Even though it IS a step down from Marik's dueling, I just gotta love it! ^_^

If it says you must pay 1000 LP, then you must pay to make the effect work. Same thing goes with 7 Tools of the Bandit; the effect will not be automatic until you sacrifice 1000 LP.
