In other words: fix it when it matters so you don't shove your foot in your mouth.
Using the wrong form of your/you're and their/there/they're is a huge pet peeve of mine and a lot of my friends. I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets bothered by something like this. I just think it's important to know the difference. Sorry for making it seem like I was having a real spaz attack, though I did put the smiley there to ease the tone. I do see I could have been nicer though. However, I am a lot more lenient when it comes to possessive apostrophe s, because I often get confused about what I'm supposed to write. So I'd be glad if someone yelled at me to fix my errors.
Were playing you're mom tag! Tag! You're moms it!
YOUR. IT'S YOUR. NOT YOU'RE. You're means "you are," signified by the apostrophe. "You're mom" means "You are mom." "Your" is the possessive. "Your mom" refers to someone's mother. Thank you.

I'm bored.

What college do you attend?
What are you studying?
Do you live on campus?
If you're not in college yet, where do you want to go?
Right now I'm going into my second year at the University of South Florida (which isn't actually in southern Florida). I'm majoring in Creative Writing and minoring in Music Composition, because those are basically my only options. I'm not good at or interested in anything else. I just don't know what good this degree will be in real life. I live at home since the school is only twenty minutes or so from my house on a good day. That's pretty much why I decided to go there; I was too scared to go out and live on my own or with strangers. However, I'm seriously thinking about transferring somewhere else for my junior year. The biggest possibility is University of Florida, depending on whether or not I can get admitted. And I have a question for experienced collegiates/alumni: is it better to live on campus or off? That is, which option is generally cheaper? If I do go to a new school I will have to pay for housing no matter what, I just want to stick with the better option.

I just finished recording a new song. It's on my band's facebook page, which you can find by clicking HERE. Do it! I'm really happy with myself and I want people to hear it. It's a cover of "Blue Ridge Mountains" by Fleet Foxes.

Just, gosh, so beautiful. Taken from the special viewing deck at Tokyo Tower; it had been crappy weather aaaaall day, but then at that moment the clouds decided to part a bit and gosh, so lovely~
I LOVE when you can see individual rays of sunlight coming through the clouds like that. That's like the definition of majestic.
Brad Pitt is a real person, though. Edward is a fictional character who came from the subconscious imagination of a married Mormon woman. I could blather on and on about all the unintentional symbolism and crap found in Twilight, but eh. I just think they are poorly written stories with very contrived plot lines and highly unlikeable characters. I don't think it's possible that anyone could find cobble together a decent supporting argument for the existence of Edward and Bella's relationship. That being said, I do want to see Eclipse, but only because the commentary my friends and I come up with is hilarious, and only when it comes out on DVD and I won't be putting any more than a dollar in Stephenie Meyer's pocket.

The details are really fuzzy, but I can remember just never getting along with her and often feeling like she was being mean to me for no reason. One day, during playtime, this kid extended his hand and said "shake!" I didn't want to, so I said no. Then the teacher came up and SENT ME TO THE OFFICE. She called my dad and I got in a lot of trouble even though I didn't even do anything wrong. Even fourteen years later I feel confused as to why that happened, it was so unfair and unwarranted.

I got the Toy Story 3 game for Wii today. It's entertaining, but can be incredibly frustrating. I don't like using the Wii-mote and a nunchuk to control the characters, and targeting is a literal pain because of having to hold my arm out so much. And there were several stretches of the game that I had to do over and over because I got crushed by one spikey wall, or I fell off one rail. It's great that you have pretty much unlimited lives, but that doesn't make the thirty-seventh attempt at escaping from a flood of coffee any easier or fun. The voiceovers sound really weird, too. There's a faint ringing whenever a character speaks, as if it were a substandard quality YouTube video instead of a video game being played on a HD TV. I like it enough, though.

One of my favorite things about life in general is how beautiful the sky can get. I have so many pictures of clouds, some reflecting a sunset, some ominously dark with rain. I make frequent use of the phrase "******* picturesque as ****." My cell phone camera takes pretty decent quality photos, but it unfortunately couldn't capture exactly how beautiful this was. And it disappeared so quickly, too; I took the picture and went inside a store for about ten minutes, and when I came back out the gold had faded to pale pink. One good thing about having a late afternoon class in late summer was that I was always treated to some fantastic clouds on the way home. I have quite a few pictures of hot pink clouds like this. I took a picture of this because it was so cute. Cotton ball clouds covered every inch of sky here, no matter where I went. I think a front was about to come through. Rainbows are my absolute favorite thing ever. Even knowing the science behind them doesn't make them any less magical. This particular rainbow came after a terrifying experience driving on the interstate in torrential rains with a giant couch hanging out of the back of my truck, so it was pretty much the proverbial rainbow. I was lucky enough to get stuck at a red light long enough to take a picture. This one is from when I had a crappy standard cell phone camera, but I'm posting it because it was the very first double rainbow I ever saw, and it showed up right when I was really desperate to see one in real life (you can kind of make out the secondary band and the dark middle). That was such a good day, and the rainbow was just the cherry on top. I have more but I'll refrain from flooding the thread unless other people participate. So yeah, share some pictures of your favorite scenery. It doesn't have to be sky, just anything you've seen that you think is beautiful or interesting.
So is it easier to get one from Platinum then? If so, I might just get a Gible from there. 100 days is way too long to wait. I just wonder if it would be easier to trade over my team to Platinum and train them there, with someone's help. Or if I should just beat the Elite Four over and over again. (Don't their levels raise each time you beat them though?) Also, I traded over my Rotom finally! However, 5 PP moves without 100% accuracy aren't as great as I thought it would be. I wish I could teach him Surf or something like that.
You can catch Gible in the lower level of Wayward Cave under Cycling Road, so it's definitely a lot easier to get one in Platinum. Also, if you need good ideas for any Pokemon's move set, you should look at Smogon. That's really for competitive strategies, but I've been using it for regular game play just so I can figure out the best possible moves for specific Pokemon.
The wait in the Safari Zone is related to modifying the zone after you become the Owner. If you put in enough decorations of a certain type in a certain area and wait, you can get a rare Pokémon to take up residence in that area. Some do have an incredibly long wait time. Gible is one of the more infamous examples. You have to use up all your decoration slots in Rocky Beach and then wait 100 days for them to show. A lot of trouble for a potential Garchomp. A lot.
What the. If I had to wait that long to achieve the first part of a goal I would probably just give up Pokemon altogether. Good thing I've got Platinum and Pearl and can just trade one over.

(And I'm not sure, but I don't think eggs can appear from a legendary, right?) Can you even get an egg from an unevolved Pokémon or one that doesn't evolve?
You can't rename any Pokemon you receive in a trade, and I guess the Jirachi gift is considered a trade. It's ID and Original Trainer aren't the same as the Pokemon you've caught. It's a shame, because I'm a big fan of consistency between my Pokemon's names. I'm considering breeding a new Infernape and training it all the way up to level 75 again just so I don't have the all caps name sticking out on my team. Meh. But then again, it's not like I have a use for Jirachi anyway.
So is this racist then?
It's true that it's sort of a...double standard, for lack of a better term (I'm having a bit of trouble wording things correctly, it seems), that jokes about any group except white people are often seen as offensive or politically incorrect. I haven't researched racial issues or anything like it any more than going over it in my sociology class, but I've always felt that making white people the butt of a joke is not seen as racist just because of the group's collective history - fair-skinned people haven't exactly suffered due to prejudice against their skin color. Once in my class, the subject of racially exclusive things came up. As far as I know, there aren't any "white only" scholarships or schools. Yet as a white girl, I don't find that strange or unfair at all. Just the opposite; I think it would be very weird if there were something like that, like a White Pride group. Perhaps it's just something instilled in me after learning about slavery and the Civil Rights movements, and maybe this wording will come across in a way I don't really intend it to, but I don't feel like being white is anything to be proud of, just because of what I said before about the lack of major anti-white sentiments in the past. Things usually don't offend me very much. At least "politically incorrect" things very rarely get any sort of reaction from me. What I got out of the facebook page is the idea that black skin creates one persona and white skin creates another, and that's just how it is, and mixing and matching is wrong. That's something that bothers me a lot. This took so much longer to type than I expected. My thoughts are all scattered and not conducive to a decently eloquent post.

I think I already did this, but I'll do it again anyway. Rio - My Feraligatr; the first Pokemon I received in this game. He's good against practically anything due to his moveset (Waterfall, Crunch, Ice Fang, and Screech, which would be Earthquake if I had an extra TM). Ampere - Ampharos. He took down Clair's Kingdra after a ferocious struggle (and lots of revives). Adagio - That's pretty much the perfect name for a Slowking. Virgil - This guy made Growlithe become one of my very favorite Pokemon. He's an Arcanine now, but that just means he's even more awesome. I freaked out when I saw him following me for the first time because it was way too cute. Then one time he picked up something and was so happy when I took it, I almost died from the adorable. Remy - I bred and EV trained this Sneasel in Platinum just so I could easily defeat Will and Lance in HG. His moveset is perfect because his dad is my Weavile, Noel; my favorite Pokemon in Platinum. Mars - This guy was born from a Larvitar that hatched from an egg someone else gave to me. He probably has about twelve brothers or sisters, all of whom are stuck at level 1 in my PC in Platinum. Because I trained him in Sinnoh to beat the Johto Elite 4, he was waaaay too strong for them. I ended up not even needing him because everyone else got so strong in Sinnoh, though, and I didn't want to use an overpowered beast of a Tyranitar. Oh, by the way everyone, you can get Jirachi from Mystery Gift now. I got one in HG and Platinum. The only problem is you can't change its name, which makes me really mad.

But there's one qualifier I want to add. I think there are potentially a lot of people who over-simplify arguments by labeling them as racist.
When I was first typing my reaction to the Facebook page, I did hesitate to use the word "racist." I just couldn't come up with anything better. I used to think that "acting black" was a legitimate thing since a lot of the black people I saw at school got a lot from the stereotypes. Now I know those styles and attitudes are part of a subculture that anyone can take part in and it doesn't mean they are "acting black." I totally forgot what else I was going to write here. Wtf. :|
Anyway, in terms of the racism I see in real life...I have to admit that I don't see a great amount of it in my daily life. This is likely because attitudes towards race are quite different in Australia, as compared to America.
I don't see a lot of racism every day either, but I don't get much further than my own little bubble most days. I have just one story that I think fits this topic pretty well, though. One afternoon I was getting lunch at Evos (healthy fast-food place) and the girl in front of me in line asked the cashier if she could talk to the manager about her application. The cashier told her the manager wasn't there today, and probably something else that I don't remember. The girl then walked out of the restaurant, talking to herself very loudly about how stupid that was. I think she even called the cashier an ugly name. Later, I recounted the story to one of my friends, and this the very first thing she asked me: "Was she black?" It surprised me a little because my friend is a sociology major herself, but I said yes and told her that I didn't think it was relevant to the story. She asked me if I thought a white person would ever do that. ...wow.

One of my facebook friends just liked this page. The title of it is "I hate people who aren't black but try to be" and it currently has 10,711 fans. Am I the only person who finds this extremely racist? Maybe it's a big joke that just went over my head. I honestly can't tell from the page info and wall posts. If it is a joke and other people don't get that, it's just perpetuating ignorance. If it is a joke, it just isn't funny. Race is something that society constructed. It has nothing to do with a person's interests or personality. Race doesn't determine who you are. You don't have to have a certain color skin to act a certain way. And if you change the page's title from "I hate people who are not white but try to be," you've time warped us back to 1964. Anyway, what do you think? What other examples of racism do you see in real life today?

I can't get over this movie. I feel like my life has been changed for the better, which is not something I've ever gotten out of a movie. I also can't stop crying. I'm so emotional. I've seen it twice and I'm hoping to see it a third time - my sisters and I are practically begging my mom to take us to the IMAX showing, but I'm afraid the tickets are too costly for her taste. I'm also getting a Toy Story 3 cake for my birthday. I was seriously considering asking for Buzz and Woody toys, but I think I'd better herald in my nineteenth year with something more mature and practical (like college money, ugh). At least I have a Buzz Lightyear flashlight that glows in the dark. I am so ridiculously out of shape, it's ridiculous. I'm apparently at a healthy weight, which is great, but I'm still not happy with my body and I can barely do anything physical without getting exhausted and sore for days. I ran as fast as I could for about twenty feet a few days ago and had to stop cause I was out of breath; about ten minutes later my legs felt like jelly, and today they are still aching. It's stupid. I almost got on the elliptical bike this morning, but after about twenty seconds I decided I absolutely did not feel like it and left. I try to do Wii Fit every now and then, but I can't make myself do it every day. I'm so jealous of people who have great bodies and can do awesome things with them, but I rarely have the motivation to work towards that kind of goal. At the very least I try to eat decently. I've been a vegetarian for about three years now; in the first year without meat I lost about forty pounds without adding any extra physical activity to my daily routine. I don't like to eat junk food and I just recently gave up soda. Every now and then I try to go vegan, but too many of the foods I rely on contain some kind of dairy product. When I'm at school I usually pack a healthy lunch, like peanut butter and banana on whole wheat bread, raw veggies, and yogurt. Plus my school is HUGE so I do a ton of walking. I never gained the notorious "freshman fifteen." Unfortunately, I've been out of school for almost two months now, and I'm afraid I'm gaining weight. Uggh.
That's very admirable indeed. May I ask why you have decided to give up bread and pasta? Actually, I don't understand the red meat and citrus either.
I haven't studied this stuff, but I would guess that the red meat thing has to do with enzymes. My mom can't eat beef because she doesn't have the enzymes that help digest it. Or at least that's what she says. We could both be totally wrong. Citrus is pretty acidic, too, which could probably harm someone whose digestive system lacked the necessary stuff (yes, stuff, that's how informed I am). But like I said, I don't actually know, I'm only guessing. I wish I could give up bread. My family isn't exactly health conscious, though, and my mom will occasionally bring home giant baguettes that are nearly impossible to not eat in foot long increments.

I've put more time and money into the Pokemon franchise than any other game (I've owned most of the main games in the series, some even more than once, and I currently have over 160 hours in Platinum). I've always found it highly entertaining, and of course, super nostalgic. I also love Legend of Zelda almost as much, but I've only ever been able to really get into Ocarina of Time. I've played bits of Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess and they just didn't grab me like OOT did. Then there's Fallout 3. I love the karma system, the post-apocalyptic setting (and that it takes place in Washington DC), and the fun times with weapons. This game has some nice memories, too.
