I predict that the actions of Bush will not necessarily dent the republican hopeful as much as you might think.
Perhaps not in other states but in Utah? It's almost poetic how the Republicans were pretty arrogant about how much control they had over the state only to outright lose quite a bit of influence locally in less than a year. It's honestly to the point where quite a few die hard republican Mormons are more interested in voting for a democrat just to keep both Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney [who ironically is Mormon] from being selected. Mitt Romney, in an attempt to perhaps appear more open to the general public essentially put his foot in his mouth and contradicted what is considered fundamental Mormon doctrine. Trust me that was one of the stupidest things he could have ever said. I'm not going to bother repeating it since it wouldn't make sense as to why people are offended if you aren't Mormon. Anyway, he's far from popular here and at the moment Obama has more popularity here than he does. I doubt that the state of Utah will end up going democrat in the elections, but it would certainly be interesting to see if we finally did, I mean the last time I understand was back in 1964. >_> Far to long if you ask me. I'm sure I'm not the only Utahan who is tired of being one of the most republican states in the US. XP Anyway, I'm leaning more towards Obama myself, I just hope Hillary is out of the picture should that happen since I don't care for her at all.
Just a quick reminder that Lady Bavaria will not be present for the Almagests dinner. She has a most eventful meeting with the Dynasts, which will give us our first glimpse into how the royal family of Czenovia operates.
Uh, James, my understanding is that she will not be at Rosengard for dinner as you can see from Shy's post. I mean so many of the posts have her saying she will not be staying after all. It's part of why Beth and I had our characters go home, otherwise they would have stayed. So with you talking about having Vincent talk to her... does that mean he'll be having dinner at the Dynasts? Or has the fact that she won't be staying changed?

I just picked this up the other day so I?ve only played it for a little bit, but basically the story is about a youth named Jaster Rouge who dreams of exploring the galaxy. Due to a misunderstanding he ends up recruited by a gang of space pirates who mistook him for the legendary hunter, Desert Claw. So he joins the crew and leaves his home planet of Rosa to search for a legendary planet which is key to secrets and wealth. Now as for the actual game play, it?s basically hack and slash to a certain extent as things happen in real time and enemies can vary in that you have to perform special moves to even be able to damage them. One of the first major fights you have is with giants that can only be damaged by jumping and slashing the top. There are suppose to be Tech attacks, or rather team attacks but I haven?t really gotten far enough to test it out yet. Still so far it is interesting other than it does require actually running around a bit in the beginning to level up before going after the more difficult enemies. The music so far is engaging which is always a plus and it?s got a good cast for doing the voice acting which is always a plus as well. Even if the dialogue is a bit cheesy, good voice actors help to make up for that. But so far the dialogue hasn?t been bad. I also like the graphics to the game, they remind me of Dragon Quest VIII actually, with the cel shaded look and beautifully done cut scenes so far. Overall, unless something happens, it?s looking like it?s going to be a really fun game to play. So anyone else played this? And if so what was your take on it?
They weren't "live-action" character any more than the characters in any other OB RPG. They were just faces of real people, which I demanded to get the feeling that the characters were real human beings (since their faces were on the screen constantly) - and to perhaps make killing them off brutally a bit more tougher (?).
>_> Well it certainly didn't work with Crystia as it didn't stop her from brutally killing off several of the souls. XP More importantly, the real pictures didn't bother me either, if anything they were more fun than the standard anime or gaming characters that are often used. It lent a more realistic air to the concept of the Ragnarok in my opinion.
As for the Abyss, I won't be joining this round, but I'm sure you'll get plenty of players if you posted it now, Darren. You could get more if you waited[/B'], but it's up to you. ;D
Definitely more if you waited. Even though I enjoyed my vacation, I began the Doctorate program today and I'm a little leery of committing to something until I find out how demanding it will be. Especially since I will still be teaching and giving private lessons like I did last year. So I'm not sure on how my schedule will be just yet. Unless you're looking for new faces, in which case go ahead and see if there's an interest, I just won't be signing up at this point.
An ex boyfriend of three years calls me at 12 a.m. after a very long [three year] silence and asks me if I have any STDs. And all over the fact that his new and supposedly virgin girlfriend has a latex allergy. But seriously, he asked me a whole bunch of questions about my promiscuity and then said that it was 'a matter of probabilities' that made him call me first. Keeping in mind that he's got several other ex girlfriends that appeared in that three year gap.
Considering that it's been so long and he's had other girlfriends since then, it begs the question of whether or not he's got something and is merely looking for a scapegoat to pin it on should the girl end up getting something from him. It's not that hard to simply go and get tested himself to make sure he's clean, so he didn't even need to call you or any other previous girlfriend for that matter. The whole thing sounds like a bunch of BS really. In which case... go with the large frozen tuna option.
None of this thread makes any sense to me. It's getting worse now. "Prostitution is necessary?" What the hell? If it's necessary because people are in poverty or extreme circumstances and not in a situation they can make a choice, how does that support the notion that it should be legalized?
What's confusing is your post, no one has said it was necessary. About the only thing that comes close is the implication in Aaryanna_Mom's post where she was talking about the aspect of better regulation being required IF it became legal. Not quite the same thing as saying prostitution is necessary. It would help if you would actually quote who was saying it was necessary because I don't see anyone even coming close to saying that here. lol
-
I don't think prostitution is illegal necessarily because it's considered immoral (although I'm sure that it has something to do with it), but because it helps spread STDs. I've heard several people say that that's a risk that both parties agree to take, but I don't think you're thinking about it enough.
Wrong. I can't speak for other countries obviously, but the state of Nevada, here in the USA, has legal prostitution under certain conditions. Go and take a look here: Wiki and you'll see that STD's isn't really an issue, or rather they have strict regulations to prevent serious issues. So the real hang up over prostitution is people who object to it on moral grounds. Saying STD's is the real reason, when proper regulation keeps that from being an issue, isn't true. If anything, STD's is more likely a problem with prostitution done illegally and without any form of regulation or testing to prevent STD's from spreading. Not that the system in Nevada is perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than nothing at all.

Just let me know if I got Vincent off James. Also, I didn't have Jack stick around much since Alexander is still in uniform so it would have given the wrong impression that he was there on official Guard business. He wasn't of course, but Jack and Vincent wouldn't have known that and Alexander was to nervous over even speaking to Vincent to think to point that out. XP

Alexander didn't really make much of an effort to talk to Fauntleroy, he was preoccupied with thoughts of doing something he didn't have the authority to do. And it seemed that Fauntleroy was equally distracted as he took off only after offering a bit of a nod in Alexander's direction. He was debating what to do while he waited for Alecia to finish seeing to Macey when he came upon an area showing the gardens to Rosengard. Two people were out there talking and smoking, one he recognized more by name than by actual acquaintance. Vincent Achard, Assistant Commander of the Guard, the one who answered directly to Gaul Rosier. Though the second person was not someone Alexander really knew, he hesitated only for a moment before he finally made for one of the doors leading out to talk to Achard. His curiosity in regards to the surroundings involving the disappearance of Dr. Victor Rawlings urging him on. Or perhaps it was better to say that it was his concern for Alecia that prompted him more than anything. The voices came to a silence as he approached and the two turned to face the new comer. "I'm sorry to trouble you sir," Alexander came to attention, "But I was wondering if I could speak to you when you have a moment?" Vincent turned to look at Jack who merely shrugged. "Go ahead." He nodded and turned to leave. "Thanks again for the cigar." And then a moment later he was gone. "I'm sorry sir, this isn't official business." Alexander started to apologize. "No need to worry about it..." Vincent paused, "Now, who are you again? I recall seeing you at the party a few days ago but I don't believe we've actually met." "I'm Alexander sir, Alecia Almagest is my wife." "Ah! Of course!" Vincent smiled. "I remember reading about that a short while ago. Congratulations." He offered Alexander one of the cigars in his case. "Thank you sir, but I actually don't smoke." Alexander said apologetically, not bothering to explain that when he was growing up, a luxury like a cigar was something that happened only occasionally for his father on special events. Let alone one as expensive as the brand Vincent had on him. Vincent just chuckled. "It's a nasty habit anyway." He closed the case and tucked it back into one of his many pockets. "Now, what did you want to talk about Alexander?" He shifted a bit uncomfortably at the idea of going over his superior's head to pry into something that really wasn't his business and then pressed forward. "It's about the missing Doctors and Potionists sir, in particular, Dr. Victor Rawlings. My wife, Alecia is a potionist and she was promoted today to take his place at the Medical Center where she works." "I see, and you were hoping I could shed some light on this? To assure yourself that your wife is in no danger?" Vincent put forward a guess and then gave a half smile when Alexander's expression gave it away. "Well, it's more than that sir," Alexander looked down a bit. "I know it's not my place, but I would like to look into Dr. Victor Rawlings's disappearance." He looked back up. "I may not have experience as a detective yet, but I have been trained sir." Vincent gave him an odd look, making Alexander wonder if he should have kept his mouth shut. After all Gaul Rosier was not one to take kindly to people doing things out of standard procedure and talking to Vincent instead of his superior was definitely a breach of protocol. He was starting to regret even speaking when Vincent finally responded. "Actually, with the transfer of so many of the Guard to New Czenoble, we're going to be short handed in many departments, so I don't see why you couldn't take up that task for now. I'll be sure to send a note to your superior to that effect tomorrow morning." "Thank you sir!" "On one condition." Vincent said. "Sir?" "Don't call me sir, Vincent will do." "Of course sir... I mean Vincent." Alexander stammered. At that moment a commotion could be heard and as one both of them turned to look at the house. Alexander was wondering what it could be when Vincent spoke. "It seems that she has arrived. If you'll excuse me I need to go." He nodded and then turned and left the gardens. Alexander followed along, wondering if Alecia had finally finished. Just as he wondered who she was, until he realized that it was likely that Leonhart's second wife had arrived. I need to find Alecia and take her home, he thought. Knowing that the evening was likely to be strained, even he knew that many of the members of the Almagest family did not care for Lady Bavaria. In his opinion, Alecia didn't need to deal with the petty bickering that was bound to ensue.
What most people should be concerned about is not their uniqueness but their individual happiness. Oh and that rant you linked to was great Dagger. Also, eventually you grow up and realize that even the search or attempt to be an individual or unique is in it's own way mainstream. Take a look around, a serious look around and you'll find enough people trying to do this to realize that it's mainstream in the sense that so many of them are on the same quest for individuality.

"You never had any intention of dismissing Aliecia, did you?" Alexander asked the Director, not bothering to make small talk. "Over something as trivial as treating a few unworthy citizens of New Czenoble? Not likely." He half snorted. "I don't know what nonsense some of the other head potionists and doctors have been telling her, but I'd never dismiss someone as talented as Alecia over something like that. Especially since..." He stopped, looking embarrassed. "Especially since she's married to one of those unworthy citizens of New Czenoble." Alexander finished for him, sighing inwardly at the unintended insult. It wasn't the first time he'd run into that sentiment and it certainly wouldn't be the last. "I don't consider you unworthy, after all Leonhart would have never approved of your marriage to Alecia if he felt that you would not make a good match. But the truth of the matter is there is not enough personnel or supplies to treat those of New Czenoble, even if I were so inclined." The Director apologized. "And though it is a distasteful practice to refer to you in such a manner, letting others think her kind sentiments towards the citizens of New Czenoble are a result of her marriage... Well I'm sure that you can understand how that makes overlooking her disregard for policy and procedure a simple matter." Alexander just nodded, after all the Director was correct and even if he said nothing, people would think that just the same, unwilling to accept that Alecia really did care about the citizens of New Czenoble. He was more than willing to accept that others thought less of him, especially since they already did. "Yes, I do understand," Alexander finally said. "Good," The Director seemed relieved. "I was fairly certain you would. Now, I'm sure the question on your mind is whether or not this would put Alecia in any danger. I've been assured that those we are promoting will not have to worry about that. You can verify this with your superior, but it is my understanding that though Alecia and the others are talented, they are also inexperienced, so it's unlikely that any of them would be in any danger at all." "I'll keep that in mind." Alexander replied, not bothering to point out that if someone had been kidnapped to stop an experiment, they would move to stop anyone continuing the work. Though he suspected that the Director was correct since he doubted that the Eshe Rehema Medical Center did biological warfare research on the side. That was something Alecia would never do, ever. She would not make potions meant only to do harm. "Thank you for your time, please be sure to inform Alecia that I'll meet her at the usual place for lunch." "Of course." The Director said as Alexander let himself out and then left the center to head to the headquarters of the Royal Police Guard. He would have preferred to tell her himself, but he was out of time if he didn't want to be late. It didn't take Alexander long to get to the gates of the Guard building and slip in to check in with his superior before heading out on patrol. Maneuvering through the many desks and hallways to get to his department. He was not expecting the utter chaos that greeted him though, people were hustling back and forth and shouting over the noise as orders were being given. "There you are Alexander!" A loud voice boomed out. He turned to see his superior heading his way and then he staggered when he slapped him heartily on the back. "So how did your meeting with the Director of Eshe Rehema Medical Center go? I take it you got everything straightened out?" He waited for Alexander to nod before continuing. "Good! Now have you read todays update yet?" He smiled broadly when Alexander shook his head indicating that he had not. "Excellent, it will be easier if I explain it to you." He steered Alexander towards his office. "You see, new initiatives are being put in place in New Czenoble, including a strict curfew and a transfer of one quarter of the Guard here in High Czenoble to New Czenoble in order to enforce the new initiatives." Alexander couldn't help but tense at the thought, did that mean that he would be sent to New Czenoble? The trip between the two cities would making having time with Alecia next to impossible other than to sleep! He hadn't realized that he was looking concerned until his superior spoke up. "Now that's why I wanted to explain it to you myself, you and all members of the Royal Police Guard who have family here are not being sent to New Czenoble, there are more than enough of the Guard who do not to meet the required numbers." "Ah..." His superior just laughed at him and slapped him on the back again. "No need to worry over it," He lowered his voice a bit. "After all if I had a pretty wife like you did I'd be reluctant to be separated from her as well. Now unless you have any questions, you'd better get started on your patrol if you're going to be done in time to meet her for lunch." Alexander just watched him with a dumbfounded expression before someone pushing him aside since he was in the way brought him back to his senses. With a shake of his head he grabbed the report by the night watch and then headed out the door to get started.
So it was a misinterpretation on my part, and I apologize. Also, I couldn't have possibly known that Shy had already given his okay for the post, that's why I asked the players in general to notify both of us when possible. Naturally AIM-conversations don't count. ;D
I know and I'm sorry, you're right you couldn't have known that he did. >_< Still I promise, we're not trying to mess with the story. And Beth says she'll be willing to edit her post slightly to make it more clear that she's only talking about a handful of people instead of a widespread epidemic of Potionists disappearing. ;) Also, we'll keep in mind to pm you about important things like that which are discussed via AIM so you'll know what we are up to.

"I suggest you head back to your quarters and start thinking of other ways you can help to bring this war to a close." Darren couldn't get those words out of his mind, even though it had been just over a week since they had left sector seven and headed for the border of sector eight. He didn't want to be the Shipping Expert let alone think of ways to help end the pointless civil war going on. At least not in the underhanded manner that Stevens was fine with. Darren however, was already regretting that he had done as requested earlier. Wishing that he could undo it to stop the damage it was going to cause. He didn't want to think about those who were likely to die as a result. He couldn't help but laugh, it was probably why Stevens was restricting his access, to keep him from saying anything by not allowing him to contact Mike and see what was up with his own ship the Wilkey. Telling him nothing as to how Kerstin was doing, even when he asked. Even Sandra was keeping him at a distance. He knew that with their current objective of moving to retake sector eight that a communications lock down was reasonable, but at the same time he got the feeling that he was being lied to. It was to be frank, beyond irritating and even the constant press of reports and work he was required to attend to couldn't take his mind off of it. In the end, he couldn't see a way out of it, even if he wanted to leave, and he didn't want to think of ways to end the war either. I can't win. Darren thought as he shut down the terminal in his quarters and went to fix himself a drink. Even if we weren't involved in a war, the High Council could choose to execute both me and Kerstin... he shook his head as he finished pouring his drink and set the decanter back into the panel in the kitchen before he walked back out to stare into space as he sipped on his drink, thinking on how he could get free of the mess he was in, even though he knew there wasn't a way out. Darren didn't know why they had dropped out of hyperspace on the border of sector seven and eight. Nor did he understand why they were near the Tarak asteroid fields since it made no sense that they weren't going around them. There was no way the huge flagships could follow the smugglers route through the field. Even his ship the Wilkey would have issues since it was too large. Only a small freighter would be able to safely navigate such a place. As he wondered just what in the world he was going to do, the thought occurred to him that by going through the Tarak, someone could beat the arrival of the fleet by three days. Were they stopped in order to leave a small force to prevent such a thing? To keep the stragglers who were attempting to flee sector seven from possibly warning them that the fleet was on it's way? Darren finished his drink and went to do something else, after all, even if he asked, no one would tell him anyway.
You're irritating for taking everything I say as a personal insult towards you or Beth. ;D I don't know, maybe it's because I don't speak English as my native language that I interpret things differently. This is what struck my eyes the most in Beth's post: I'm sorry if it's just another misinterpretation, but this sounded to me like all the leading potionists have gone missing. :/ So if you want to clear something up privately, just enter both our names in the recipient field, okay? ;D Saves us all from great deal of trouble and misinterpretations in the future.
Then we're even since it seems that we're both irritating to one another and we'll leave it at that. :p Anyway, like I said you missed the detail that it was only those who were suppose to be on leave. XP Also, the discussions with Shy? It's usually direct contact via AIM and not pm's, so there wasn't anything to forward. I'm giving you grief since I was under the impression that Shy would know the story well enough to okay something without me or Beth needing to also run to you as well for permission. That's my irritation here since we were all on AIM while Beth was posting it and Shy read it and said it was fine before he signed off.
Beth, I have to butt in and explain that the guys with the doghead logo don't kidnap every alchemist in Czenovia, just very special ones that are involved with something specific (which will be revealed to all of you due time). So saying that every potionist has gone missing is a bit too much... I'm not blaming you for anything, you couldn't have known our plans for the main story. It's totally alright for Alecia to get promoted, but if you could just downscale the amount of kidnappings, it would help to keep the game consistent. ;D After all, if hundreds of people would have been kidnapped, there would have been plenty of eyewitnesses by now, wouldn't there? But as it is, the note with the doghead logo is the Police Guard's biggest clue now.
I'm going to butt in here, but Beth and I discussed this with Shy, and we aren't talking about hundreds of people, but maybe about half a dozen at most. >_> You need to pay attention, the only one's missing are the ones who were suppose to be on leave a detail that is in our posts, not every single potionist. :animesigh EDIT: Here, just to point it out to you since you seem to have missed it.
She paused as she ran through her mind the number of people she knew of that were suppose to be on leave
Honestly Sandy, sometimes you are irritating with your nitpicking, did you really think we'd put something like that in there without clearing it first?

I've tried to think of resolutions as people put it, but 2008 won't be any different than any other year. I'll just keep working on what I'm already doing, finishing up my education and other things that are important to me. So I guess it's just a way to make a list of things I'm already doing. XP Though I suppose I could resolve to actually learn how to cook, or at the very least learn how to make something. Well besides noodles and soup that is. lol

Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?
Rachmaninoff replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
People tell me it's a whole lot better than the anime. Would you say so?(the anime was damn good)
I couldn't say since I haven't gotten past the part that is in the anime yet or rather I'm only done with the first two mangas. Also, though there is fun stuff that was not in the anime, I have run into episodes where it looks like they added stuff into the anime. Though until I read further I can't be sure. I've also run into stuff where they took two aspects of the story at different times and combined them into just one episode if you will. So the stuff that was added into the anime may happen later in the manga and I just haven't gotten there yet. I can say that the first bit where Tohru first ends up in the Soma house is really fun since unlike the anime
Yuki and Kyo argue and fight quite a bit more
which was really fun since I get a kick out of those two. Anyway, I'm about to start book three, so I've still got a ways to go before I get to volume twelve. -
(^_^) Ehh, a really long endpin? :p
Heh, I was thinking more along the lines that I'd never expose an instrument to such a humid climate. But yeah, that would work, possibly. :p Anyway, it's a pity that the cause of the inspiration has settled down, not that I want more fuss, but this has been fun to read. Seems that OtakuBoards has some 'colorful' people in it's history. I certainly hope Charles updates the article to reflect this newest 'insanity' lol EDIT: Nevermind, I looked and he did. XP

Even though the religious beliefs I grew up with would disagree with prostitution, I now wonder why we even care what two consenting adults do behind closed doors. Unless someone is being forced into it or are underage, as far as I'm concerned it's their business whether I approve of it or not. Personally I think it's a sad way to make a living, but who am I to decide what people do? Yes you could argue about the dangers involved but prostitution isn't the only job with risks. Perhaps it may be higher, but firefighters, cops, soldiers and even professional athletes, all of them put themselves at risk in order to 'make a living' I can't help but think that the objection to it is nothing more than an attempt to force your own moral values on someone else, regardless of whether or not they agree.

Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?
Rachmaninoff replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
Lets see, right now I'm reading the Fruits Basket Manga since The first twelve volumes were loaned to me. I've only just started but it's fun since I have the series on DVD and I'm loving all the little tidbits that were left out of the anime. I watched the Case Closed movie The Fourteenth Target earlier today, which I enjoyed quite a bit. I'll probably go back and watch it with subtitles the next time through. I've also gotten back into Yu Yu Hakusho again, so I'm picking up where it's about to enter the Dark Tournament since I left off shortly before that if I remember correctly. -
Great stuff! I'm sure several of our members are blushing at the hotsprings scene right now... ;D
Actually, I'm wondering how I manage to play the Cello and soak my feet at the same time. XP Anyway, definitely a fun read, considering the inspiration for it. Heh.
Still, I don?t really see meeting someone from online as being any more or less dangerous than meeting up with someone you met at a bar, party, or set up with on a blind date.
I agree, meeting someone from online isn't that much different really. You have to be cautious no matter what the situation since that person at a party or from a blind date can be a bad thing, just as meeting someone you met online can be as well. Anyway, I've never joined any type of site specifically geared towards meeting other people, but so long as your cautious I don't see a problem with it. Going somewhere that's more public is definitely a good idea. That's how I ended up meeting SunfallE, we both went to the Anime Convention that was held in SLC earlier this year. I've only gotten together with a few people that I met on the internet first and so far all of them have been positive experiences. In the end, I've had more negative experiences from those meetings at parties and blind dates than I have from online meetings, though to be fair those have been more common occurrences since I don't make a point of meeting people I know online. I haven't met enough people from the internet to make a valid comparison.
