2. No American guy can resist a harem of bunny-eared foreign girls:
3. I'm sure I irritated the hell out of my mom when I was growing up and learning to play the piano and the cello. Beginning string players=most painful to listen to. But later on when I was in middle school it wasn't my sister's bad violin-playing that made me irritated, it was actually how good she was. She was concertmistress of our nationally recognized high school orchestra, and she played her violin all the freaking time. She was great at it, but she also happened to be a perfectionist, which lead to us listening to the same three bars of music over, and over, and over. It got annoying after a while. I was lazy/not that into orchestra and never practiced my cello, lol.
4. I don't believe in them and I don't not believe in them. I've never had any personal experiences, but I'm not going to slam down the hammer and say "paranormal activity believers are dumb/stupid/annoying/etc". Also, Ghost Hunters is wildly entertaining sometimes. "We're trying to DISPROVE hauntings...which, like, makes us legit."
5. I pretty much love image battles, and I don't think there's been on in the anime forum yet! For anyone who doesn't know, an image battle is basically this: I post a picture, and then the next user must post a picture of something that "beats" my picture's subject (i.e. picture of mouse--> picture of mousetrap). Go crazy. And then write a little sentence explaining why your picture beats so and so's. :) I guess the only restriction for this one is it has to be from an anime/manga. I'll start it off classic:
6. Love is sitting through Pokemon 3000 for your cousin.
7. I've decided to work my way through the Modern Library's 100 Best Novels, mostly because I didn't like Time's list. I thought The Things They Carried was on the list, so I read it (it wasn't on the list when I checked after I finished), but it was still a great read. Tim 'O Brien has the writing style I enjoy, and he writes very well. There were some scenes in the book that just implant themselves in your brain and you can't ever forget them.

DESTROY KONOHA LOL WITH MY AWESOME ATOM EYES" Cue: yaoi/incest fangirls

9. I just crammed the last 7 chapters in after a long time of not reading Naruto, and my reaction is... WHY DID I EVEN BOTHER.
10. I got spoiled this year, since my AP Gov teacher would print out and copy tons of handouts that kept us up to date on world events and such, and he would announce random tidbits of news everyday. He also (somehow) got us all subscriptions for The Economist, which is probably the best international news magazine. It beats the pants off of Time and Newsweek, anyway. But now that I'm out of high school, my news reading habits have become nonexistant, as I rarely check the news anymore.
11. GAINAX plans to release two (2!!!!) movies for Gurren Lagann. Yayayayayayayyay :D But apparently it'll just be the series crammed into two movies, with new footage. Um, but I'm still happy.
12. Well, if she's working at Boston Market she'll most likely just have to wear their standard uniform, which I believe in their company shirt and khakis or something. More formal restaurants=slacks. But you'll have to get restaurant shoes, which are usually hideous.
13.
I can never get enough Chinese food. I'm not sure what is meant by Americanized, since around here all the Chinese restaurants are run by Chinese people...except for Pei Wei, but I've only been there once and I know it's a chain.
A lot of Chinese-owned restaurants will still serve "Americanized" Chinese food because it's what Americans are used to and will eat. The local Chinese buffet in my town is owned and operated by Chinese people, but there's no question that the food they serve is still Americanized. In your example, they also serve bourbon chicken, bbq ribs, etc... probably because it's more profitable. Personally I still think Americanized Chinese food is awesome. lol
14.
But as we all know, the VP seat is about as useful and meaningful to someone as a bucket of warm spit. Just look back at Al Gore. James Quayle. Walter Mondale. Nelson Rockefeller. Who the hell were they?
Yeah, who the hell was John Nance Garner? But the VP gets as much power as the President wants him to (i.e. Bush), so there's no telling. Not that Obama would ever give Clinton power as VP, lol.
15.
And then Carter proved to be the most loathed ex president. He was also World's Most Ineffective President ever. Hostage Crisis anyone?
Lol I know, I think it's sort of hilarious.
16.
Not entirely sure if Obama should pick Clinton as a running mate.
Loved the smiley response, lol. But, blaargh, no. Obama should not even think about taking Clinton as his running mate. Even if it were done in the spirit of unity, it would not really succeed at unifying anything, as they've spent too much time bashing each other. And I really doubt Clinton would want to take the backseat crap position of VP, unless she wanted to become the next Dick Cheney.
I'm not entirely sure why everyone thinks that Obama inherently represents change. ... because he is considered to be a political outsider?
It worked for Jimmy Carter after the Watergate scandal, so it's probably working for Obama. And I think the bigger point is that he's hugely popular with the youth vote- he's seen as intellectual and idealistic, which fits the ideals of many college students/younger people. Even if those things aren't really good, valid reasons to vote for someone, it has worked tremendously. The idea or embodiment of "change" was looking pretty good to Americans while we went through the Iraq War and now the recession... also, he's really charismatic. When I was listening to this speech on race after Rev. Jeremiah Wright's outbursts, I couldn't help but like him. :animeswea You can't really count on common sense and grounded opinions in US elections, though I'm not trying to rag on Obama.
17. My name is Ginny, I'm 18 and I'm headed for Emory University. I don't know what I'm going to major in, most likely English. I'm well-rounded enough, if I apply myself I can do well in the math/science. But I'm generally more partial and intuitively better at the humanities. Of course, I think like any other rising college freshmen, I'm not sure about my future. My dream job would be just to be involved in the film or tv-making process. Being a production manager or other behind-the-scenes manager would be great. Being an editor has always been another thought in the back of my mind, as I've found myself to be pretty good at editing staff writers' stuff on my school newspaper. Law school is also there for me to look at. Isn't it awesome that the first two fields I'm interested in are all about old-boy and/or college connections? lol. *facepalm* I appreciate writing, and I like it when writing is simple with no decorations- probably why I really appreciate scriptwriting. A good novel is a wonderful thing, but I admire the scripts of any of my favorite humorous tv shows: Arrested Development, Venture Bros, etc. (NOT Family Guy.) Good screenwriting always impresses me, it seems to be the hardest form of writing to master. I also like animation. When I see a piece of animation that really blows my mind I'll rewind and watch it again, and again, and again. Like writing, I love clean lines and fluid motion. To get an internship at Pixar as a production manager would be a dream come true for me, because to surround myself with people like that would be great. I doodle and sketch things when I'm bored, I like to say I'm better than average but nothing to whip your head back at. When I'm browsing DeviantART, I can spend a pretty long time just admiring the details of an awesome looking illustration. Looking at "art of" books is fascinating to me, and I keep tabs on my favorite Livejournal artists. Food is one of my greatest interests. Good food is just awesome, and I love the memories that surround eating with family or friends. I think humor is one of the greatest asset a person can have. A funny guy is a guy I like. Just chilling with friends is always the best time I have when I try to have fun. Hanging out at someone's house and watching movies or playing games is just as fun as getting plastered with them and being ridiculous. To top it off, I'm looking forward to having the time of my life this coming fall.
18.
Of course there are people who can regulate themselves, but those people also have the brains not to get caught breaking the rule, so what's the big deal here?
Best response in the thread so far.
19. I have random favorites from a variety of countries, although Korean food will always be my favorite comfort food. I guess it makes sense that it's my favorite, since I know it the best and I've grown up with it. Can I be unreasonably proud I say it totally owns Japanese and Chinese cuisine? :p But to be honest, Koreans constantly usually only eat 4 "real" Chinese dishes, two of them generally "Koreanized". And with Japanese stuff, I've only had sashimi, sushi, miso, tempura, etc. - Gyros rock. The last time I went to NYC there was this one gyro stand that I loved. I would stalk the corner around night when it opened. lol I love white sauce, whatever the hell it's made of. But on the topic of NYC, while we were there our advisor took us to Greenwich and then abandoned us in about .03 seconds and went into this tiny restaurant that just said "Noodles", and it was delicious. I think it's just a general rule of thumb that the best place to eat ethnic food will always be in the "sketchy" looking restaurants, since they're owned and operated by natives. - Falafels. - Naan=delicious. - Sashimi...although I agree it's hella expensive. I've been completely spoiled by my dad, as he's sort of like a seafood guru and I've only eaten sashimi he considers good...but also costs upwards to $100+. But also at Korean places they take the fish leftovers and make a very spicy stew called mae-oon-tang, very good stuff. -Thanksgiving dinner.
20.
I think I recall a period of time when me and you used to have crazy long debates on the subject matter of non-canon yaoi pairings back when I was going by Double_B_Daigo and you were maladjusted. Ah good times.
Sadly, I remember this and also recall that somewhere in my post I mentioned FF7. How do I remember this? I don't know.
21. To come off as a self-righteous Asian *****, I hate it when people enjoy eating cheap ramen brands with flavors like shrimp or "cheddar cheese" (WTF?!).
22. You can trace how I've "matured" through my usernames: 1) anime_gurl
23.
She's pretty pumped, and wants to get out of this town more than anything (mainly because of emotional issues she thinks are inescapable here, which she actually made for herself), and she's gonna go heavy into Graphic Design....though her real love is "legit" art.
Haha, best post ever. Sums up like 95% of high school graduates.
24. Graduated, and hella excited for college. :)
25. Teeth: I didn't realize this until after I finished watching the movie, but hilarious.
A vagina that bites off penises is pretty damn useful. :)
Forgetting Sarah Marshall: Great movie, the best funny film I've seen this year. I expected myself to hate it, but I was really surprised by how much I laughed. My friend next to me told me I laughed for 2 hours straight...I recommend this movie to anyone. But be 18, seriously. lol (Also, Kristen Bell and Mila Kunis in the same movie.
