Originally posted by zanza Heh heh, I'm being rather vague though. Yes, I am haruka, probably not the one you know though.... just a guy from America. I'm only 14 too, not 17. But I was haruka on the old otaku, I just switched names and acted as myself this time. I do uphold the same ideals haruka did though; no sex before marriage and whatnot. Except I'm religious and haruka isn't.
.... okay, so haruka wasn't a real person, just a made up one?
Originally posted by zanza I am a guy. I can play quite a convincing girl, though :)
okay..... gimme a sec to think.............. alright, what made me think you were a girl is when you posted that pic of a pretty asian girl when you and Transtic were....going out... and then, oh yeah! Then in that thread Voodoo posted about the new otakumemebers gif, you posted a guy's pic.... oi, my head hurts... So you are a guy, right?
Originally posted by zanza haruka respects you, I'm sure.
Haruka! I miss her, she's such a sweetheart :( I respect her too, it's not very often I find someone who has those values in common with me.... if you talk to her, tell her I said 'hi' for me, please. And you know, I respect you too, zanza. I read the stuff you posted in that long religion thread. It's hard being the minority, ne? heh, story of my life (religion-wise) :)
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve So I can't love anyone but god...... I guess I'll have to hate my boyfriend and family........................... that was a joke... cause I know thats not what you meant.... just trying to lighten up the mood! Anyway, religion is too much of a personal issure with alot of people.... i think those personal problmes get in the way of acting in a civil manner and watching what you say cause it might offend one person or another as it has done... that goes for me, you, all of us, and the cows to your right.... That brings another question up.... do animals worship god? They lack the ability to reason in their brain.. apart from Apes and Dolphins, but do they have a god?... does god love them, well obviously he does or he wouldn't have put them on the arc.... but like... how do we know they know and love god?.... what if I wanna worship god like a cat!.... they don't go to church... well some do, but.. yeah.... oh well.... thats an interesting question....
.....................lol  whoooa, okay I doubt that animals are subject to anything of that nature since it is quite obvious that they lack the intelligence humans have (and I know your whole view of the stupidity of humans, but we do have some mental capacity :D ) Since I'm not a cat myself, I don't really worry about how far their intellect reaches ..... :D
Originally posted by James So what we have now is essentially a watered down version of the original book. Having said this, the bible's teachings are designed to provide moral lessons in life. I don't think that bible stories should be taken as fact, and in many cases, I think that they are even designed to be factual. They are there merely to teach life lessons. To take the bible as fact is absolutely ludicrous. It is absolutely riddled with inaccuracies and contradicting paragraphs. I suggest that you read a book titled "Telling Lies for God" by Ian Plimer. It's a fantastic book. It takes an open view of Creationism (which even most christian organizations admit is false) and provides specific examples of the bible's many inaccuracies and false statements. A very good read for anyone, non religious or otherwise.
The bible I read is the King James version; the others aren't as clear (and I *really* don't like the 'modern' bibles where its written in common language...... it just bothers me, more re-translating to fit other peoples' wants). As I stated before, I believe the truths in the bible (what are left of them). It's just such a shame that a lot of it is so messed up, the stories have probably had chunks taken out of them. And the reason why the bible seems to contradict itself so much isn't because the bible in and of itself is false: but by the faults of man, it has been made complicated and mixed up in certain areas; stuff taken out, stuff added in, etc. I agree with what Zanza said, the teachings of God and Jesus Christ are meant to be plain and simple. heh, that doesn't necessarily mean easy to understand all the time, lol :D just like Calculus isn't easy to understand by ANY MEANS :cross: that doesn't make it unclear or unlogical, it's only by our own faulty, small minds that it takes longer for us to understand. And like I tried to point out earlier, scripture is not limited only to the bible (some people will probably argue with me about the verse at the end of Revelations where John says something like, 'and if any man shall add to this book, God shall add plagues to him' or something like that..... okay, the present bible wasn't even in existence at the time John was writing that..... he was over near Italy I think, while other writings were going on elsewhere..... when John said 'this book', it meant that book- the book he was writing, "Revelations"). It's not possible to have all the knowledge we need in only one book, especially if that book has been as taken apart and put back together again as the poor bible has. The bible is good and does contain truth, but it's not enough. However I do know that there IS another volume of scripture that has been translated ONCE, and edited for punctuational purposes (I doubt they had commas and periods in Egyptian short-hand). And think what you want (and hey, if ya wanna know more I'm more that happy to explain) 'cause everyone's going to have their own thoughts, but I know that it is true, unblemished doctrine. It's plain and simple in language, just as Zanza said the gospel ought to be. God wouldn't want to purposefully confuse people; try their patience and faith/whatever, yes. But not insomuch that people begin to be lead away. Know why it's plain and simple? 'Cause nothing's been taken out of it, nothing's been added to it, no re-wording. It's been translated straight into English (and over the years in other languages as well) directly from the source it was taken from. It's wonderful.... and yes, I have studied it out, read it cover to cover, searched it, pondered and prayed about it, and a lot of other efforts to know of it's validity. It's valid alright....
It doesn't mean that God exists...or is some kind of entity...because there are so many revisions of the bible itself, so many religions in the world...
But who is to say that the only written records pertaining to God are only found and will ever be found in the bible? For such a significant aspect in history (Christ for example), as well as many other things, it's almost ludicrous to say that this is limited to only one book. And keep in mind that the bible, along with it's many versions, has been traslated, re-worded, etc. over the past hundreds of years, by monks and other such peoples who thought they had the authority to do so. Some people know only of what's in the bible because that's the only thing that they've been shown. Now, don't get what I'm saying here wrong; I do believe that the bible has many truths and for the most part is true. I say most part because it isn't perfect, in its full state of doctrine. ..... just wanted to bring that up.....
Originally posted by Desert Shadow I was the one who mentioned that. I have a relationship with God. I talk to Him. I feel Him. I know Him. Prayers come true. This is why i know He is real. The same reasons i know my best friend is real. I talk to him. I've known him all my life. Jes' because i can't see him right now, doesn't mean he doesn't exist. He lives in a different state, but i know he's still real. The same reasons i know God is real. Sure i have doubts, but that comes from my own faults and sin, as i learn later on. There is no church that leads to God. Church is jes' a place of fellowship for the ones that already know God, and so the can worship and learn. The real church is the people. Wherever they go. It's not the brick and mortar building. It's not the pastor. It's all of the people that God has called to Him. God is always with them, not only in the church.
heh,... those were actually more rhetorical questions. :D I want to comment on your second paragraph: True, God is not confined to a building. You could in some instances recieve greater spiritual insight pondering the scriptures and praying in your room than you could on some Sundays (it depends on the individual). And sometimes, it isn't enough when you are left to your own devices. That's where church comes into play, where you can recieve more solid doctrinal facts from higher sources to add to your understanding and progression that you might not find in full on your own. But here's the tricky part; in order to recieve these precepts in their fullest extent, their source would have to also be true in the fullest of extents. Meaning, in order to recieve in church the clearest and most truthful teachings, it would need to be under the direct governing of Jesus Christ. Is this not logic? In times when Chirst was not on the earth (both BC and AD), how were the people taught? If they had no idea how to pray, or in fact who to pray to or if they needed to at all? Prophets. Prophets are the seers and revelators that directly conversed with Jehovah (Jesus, before his birth), like Moses and Abraham, as well as when He was on the earth. Christ ordained apostles with direct authority to preach the gospel, and after his death, there remained a prophet until the last was killed off in times of old. Prophets teach the people, and as long as there is a prophet on the earth, the true order of gospel can be taught. For a long time, there was no prophet, no direct guidance and revelation, and men began to use their own devices. No one is to say whether they actually had spiritual insight or not, however it was imperfect. Now, if there were a prophet on the earth today, a prophet ordained of God and Jesus Christ recieving direct revelation for our modern day as prophets did for times of old, the following thereof would be under the true direction of Jesus Christ. Such an establishment is necessary for growth we cannot obtain on our own.

Organized religion........... I suppose I have to look at other people's point of view of what religion has been to them... Often time's it's a preacher of some sort that's basically saying what he himself thinks is right (some's intentions are better than others, nothing ever really constant, though), and his/her own interpretations of scripture. And then you pay in the collection plate if you liked it or something. I can see where some become skeptical of the validity of this 'approach' to religion. Someone mentioned something about at least one of the religions being true..... okay, what would make a religion undeniably true? What would you need to hear/learn/feel/know/etc that would determine this? Do you really expect to gain knowledge of truths just by sitting back every Sunday for a couple of hours? Shouldn't there be more than that? Say there is one single, true church directly lead by God. How would you come to find this out? And would you want to know earnestly enough to be tried in patience and faith (see; belief in things which are not seen which are true)? Some are opposed to religion because they think it hinders their freedom. I really don't know about the churches y'all go to, but there's a principle I go by: You can choose your actions, but you can't ever choose your consequence. Now, unless your churches have outlandishly weird 'requirements' persay, most likely the things which churches advise against aren't all that painful. Example: ... no alcohol or drugs. Okay, what is so amazingly wrong with this? It's not taking away your freedom, it's helping you preserve it. When you are under addictions, it's then that your freedom is impaired, and you are bound to the cravings. I can't think of any more examples, as I don't have an idea of these 'restrictions' y'all are referring to. In essence, you make your choices, and no one and nothing can take it away from you. But with such a power it is wise to heed to counsel, as you may abuse it unknowingly... K, I'll stop for now

Style? My motto: If I like it, I buy it. I go by nothing else. ermm... for example; I usually have fitting jeans- not skin tight, but they're not baggy (although I have some of those, too, like athletic pants). Both khakis and jeans (jeans mostly). Shirts... hehe there's no limit! I have everything from and Aquabats 'baseball' shirt to... well, button up stuff. I really like feminine, pretty clothes- nothing overdone though; moderation is key. And I like blue, I reeeeally like blue, and red, and anything else that looks good on me (not everyone else... rrgh I absolutely cannot STAND putrid lime green, that bright... icky color.. ew). Now see, I dress according to my mood. If it's a good day- cute shirt and khakis. If it's a rainy day/don't piss me off day- a small t-shirt or something, sandals, and some loose pants of some sort. And usually my hair is up on those days too. ... hmm, yeah I guess that kinda covers it.... oh yeah, and I hate those 'label' shirts; like "cute" or "goddess", that's so..... dumb-looking. Only thing I have close to that is this soooooooo awesome shirt I got at Old Navy (white, long sleeves) and has retro style lettering that says "Rock Star" and a retro guitar. I love that shirt, it reminds me of the Monkees.. and it's just cute.... but yeah, that's the only 'labe' shirt I have.

wow, I really like that Cera.... very strong punch at the end; and very relatable.... good job! :D And white boy.......... lol...... that's cute.. :D
