RULES OF GAME 1. someone starts off with a picture and shows it on here 2. no-one can post another image until the previous one has been guessed. 3. if someone wins the challenge but doesn't reply within 48 hours its first come, first serve for whoever wants the next go 4. if no-one can guess it then the player has to post clues to what it is 5. ONE guess per post yet again... i'll start with something real easy to try and get the ball started and get some interest:

Each of the city's most famous superheroes work for a sponsor company and their uniforms also contain advertising for real-life companies. Their heroic activity is broadcast on the popular television show "Hero TV", where they accumulate points for each heroic feat accomplished (arresting criminals or evacuating civilians, for example) and the best ranked hero of the season is crowned "King of Heroes". The story mainly focuses on veteran hero Kotetsu T. Kaburagi aka Wild Tiger who is assigned with a new partner, a young man named Barnaby Brooks Jr. However, Barnaby and Kotetsu usually have trouble working together as they have conflicting opinions on how a superhero should act while at the same time trying to crack the mystery of the murder of Barnaby's parents. In addition, the appearance of a homicidal vigilante NEXT named "Lunatic" stirs up the public and makes them question the meaning of heroes.
Since being introduced to the series a few days ago by SeDoc, T&B has gone on to become one of my favourite light-heated animes, and indeed one of my favourite animes in general. An eclectic mix of comedy, the superhero genre, mecha and the exploration of the (super)human condition it's kind of like the Neapolitan icecream for nerds/geeks/otakus. Sunrise has done a great job with the art, provided the series with some of Japan's best VAs and topped it off with a plot that is composed of various enticing strands of story goodness threaded together into something which evolves on an episodal basis. Probably the worst thing about the series is getting into it so late, it's a pain having to wait for the next episode. Anyway, discuss, what you like, what you don't like, favourite characters (Sky High) etc. [Edit] Seeing as it's completely legal, here's a website where you can watch T&B for free in standard definition.

Hello, all. I'm bored and there is currently little activity in this forum, so I've decided to start a new game for us all to play. The idea is to post images that seem innocent, but can be taken very wrongly by themselves. (this concept does include akward captions.) Rules: 1: They can be weird, but not too dirty. This thread is NOT clothing optional. 2: [strike]Don't talk about fight club.[/strike] Keep it somewhere between G and PG-13. Hints of kissing is okay, any kind of actual sex (implied or otherwise) should be handled tastefully and conservatively. 3: Anime images ONLY. It's the anime forum, for crying out loud. 4: If you are going to post, please post an image. No "ROFL! more!" posts. Also, if you think the OOC part of your pic is hard to "get," enlighten us. 5: Don't doctor your photos. Find something that already looks weird. Without further ado: The game! A little One Piece Yaoi fun! (Mods, feel free to kill the thread if you think it's too much. It was born out of extreme boredom.)

I just saw this Movie a week ago, (and again today) and I really like it. For the most part it is really light hearted humor, but thing that sells it for me is the voice acting for the english dub. For one, the protagonist schoolgirl doesn't have the super high pitched, ultra kawaii voice, which was refreshing. The cast included Anne Hathaway as Haru, as well as Cary Elwes, Judy Greer, Andy Richter, Kristen Bell, my personal favorite: Tim Curry, and more. All the jokes are delivered remarkably well, and every character seems to have personality. As for the plot, it is fairly well put together. The story has for the most part, a constantly escalating feeling, but I wouldn't say that it is super suspenseful. There is pretty much no love story, which is also refreshing. There is some action... but it is with cats, so that becomes more humorous than intense. The movie also has a decent moral too... which doesn't matter much... but hey.. its there! The art is also a step above most of what I have seen from Studio Ghibli, the motions are fluid and the scenery is vibrant. the colors in this one are also very vivid compared to a few movies I have watched. The expressions like all of Ghibli films are awesome, even on cats. Anyone else with me here?

Bleach started in Japan today. This is an anime that I've been looking forward to since they announced it was coming to TV. I think the manga is in Shounen Jump so I was surprised that there aren't any threads about it here. Well, Bleach is about a 15 year-old boy named Ichigo that can see ghosts. He meets Kuchiki Rukia, a shinigami, one day and her powers are accidentally transferred to Ichigo. Then the two of them begin their journey. I just downloaded the promo on BitTorrent and the animation, done by Studio Pierrot, looks pretty good, but the music they have playing is horrendous. Most of you probably know where you can find this... This anime reminds me of Yu Yu Hakusho and The Sixth Sense wrapped up in one. A lot of people are saying it's better than Naruto also, which could be a big plus for me since I love Naruto. Anyone plan on checking out Bleach when it gets subbed? By the way, does anyone know of any groups that are going to sub it? I'm bored and losing my mind so yeah...
This is a question for people who have been fans of the genre for atleast five years or more. How have you personally changed as a fan? Do you watch more or less than you used to? Do you find yourself favoring Anime over Manga and so on.
I think I started watching anime when I was about 17 and that was mainly what was on Toonami. I was 56k user so I definately didn't really have much to watch. Anyway, I'm probably more picky than I have ever been since all I really look for is anime with action (Samurai type action is a first priority), and then there are so many things that can turn me away from a series in a blink of an eye. Also, while I'm no longer a 56k user I do find myself watching less anime than what was aired on Toonami. I still watch my favorites (and keep up with Bleach and Naruto on some occasions) but I'm gradually losing interest in anime, this is due to the lack of anime for me and me not willing to open up to new stuff. I'll open up to something new on rare occasions but I've pretty much learned my lesson after trying to give Highschool of the Dead a shot (I should've learned my lesson after watching Evangelion). I know I've "schooched" around the question a bit but you get the picture.

I just finished this amazing anime series and wanted to see if there were any other fans of the show on these here boards. The first couple of episodes of the show are great, but then the next few seem like filler.
By episode 11, the show completely changes everything you thought you had already figured out.
I don't want to go into too much detail yet in case other people need to watch the series, but it really is fantastic and worth at least one watch. The visuals are beautiful and the story is woven together really well. Here is a synopsis of the show, taken from Wikipedia, and spoiler-tagged because it gives away just a few plot details: "
The story revolves around Maya, the daughter of the former Headmaster of Waldstein Academy, and a time traveling agent Fumiaki Uchida. In the year 2012, the world had been invaded by aliens and time travelers were sent back to the year 1999 in order to find and destroy the Nostradamus Key, which Nostradamus Prophecy foretold as what would bring about the apocalypse. The series then turns to the year 1999, where Maya returns to the Academy with the intention of destroying the Academy by superseding her late father's position as the principal. Her plan was interrupted when she meets Fumiaki and learns of the forthcoming destruction. Despite being distrusting towards Fumiaki, they form a pact to look for the Nostradamus Key. In order to find the Nostradamus Key, time agents were provided with specially created cell phones. When a user finds an object of interest, by thinking of destroying it and taking a photo, and if the resulting image is that of a peaceful world, then the subject is the Nostradamus Key. Conversely, if the subject is not the Nostradamus Key, then the photo displays destruction. By using the phone, Maya and Fumiaki investigates occult occurrences as they occur in the town.
" Seriously, watch this, then let's discuss.

Hey guys, I'm a really old member who hasn't logged on in many years. Anyway, I've been in Hawaii for awhile and just missed out on kawaii kon 2011. Just wondering if there are any anime clubs around town or UH. Looking for more anime nerds to watch anime with, play video games and hopefully plan future cosplays together. So if you're on oahu and anywhere near UH let me know if you or your group of friends could use another fellow otaku around.

Okay so I just watched this the other day. It currently hasn't been released in English Dub as far as I know, but it is subtitled pretty well. If you are a fan of both shows like I am, you really must see this. The movie does a great job staying true to both shows. All of the characters seem to have retained their personality, as well as the flair and sense of humor in both shows.
The only thing I didn't like was that the movie has VS in it... when they don't really "battle"
The art style seems to be more Case Closed than Lupin the 3rd... but they both look good. There really isn't much you won't like about this movie if you liked the two amazing animes that inspired it.

Lately, I've been seeing a lot of these types of threads. Aparently, every time a new line-up is released, people hear about it and make a new topic. What I'd like to do is get all further Cartoon Network line-up topics confined to a single thread. This thread. This way, our members will be well-informed by reading a single thread, instead of looking back and trying to find something in the past. With other, nameless staff backing me up (SHYGUY), I present to you the Cartoon Network line-up changes thread. The first thing that I'd like to start with is the current line-ups, below: Moday through Thursday Classic Zoids -- 6:30 am Hamtaro -- 10:30 am Zoids -- 3:00 pm Dragonball -- 4:00 pm Dragonball Z -- 4:30 pm Dragonball -- 6:00 pm Dragonball Z -- 6:30 pm Pokemon -- 9:00 pm Yu-Gi-Oh -- 9:30 pm G Gundam -- 12:00 am Friday Classic Zoids -- 6:30 am Hamtaro -- 10:30 am Zoids -- 3:00 pm Dragonball -- 4:00 pm Dragonball Z -- 4:30 pm Dragonball -- 6:00 pm Dragonball Z -- 6:30 pm Saturday Dragonball Z -- 2:00 pm Dragonball -- 2:30 pm G Gundam -- 3:00 pm G Gundam -- 3:30 pm Inuyasha -- 11:00 pm Inuyasha -- 11:10 pm Cowboy Bebop -- 12:00 pm Yu Yu Hakusho -- 12:30 pm Gundam 0080 -- 1:00 pm Mobile Suit Gundam -- 1:30 pm And now, the last press release from AOL Time Warner...
Cartoon Network today announced the acquisition of three animé series that will air during Adult Swim, its highly-rated late night block of animation for adults 18-34. The three series are Lupin the Third, Reign and Trigun. Lupin the Third follows the adventures of the greatest thief in the world. Lupin is a globetrotting crook, as well as a suave gentleman. Aided by two partners, expert marksman Jigen and samurai master Goemon, Lupin's mad-capped adventures take him around the world stealing extraordinary treasures, helping damsels in distress, staying one step ahead of Inspector Zenigata and matching wits with rival thief, beautiful and dangerous Fujiko. Trigun takes place in the distant future on a deserted planet. Vash the Stampede is a gunfighter with a legend so ruthless he has a $60,000,000,000 bounty on his head. Entire towns evacuate at the rumor of his arrival. But the real Vash the Stampede, the enigmatic and conflicted lead character in Trigun, is more heroic, even though he usually acts like a complete idiot. Alexander the Great was the world's most powerful warrior. Reign is a 21st century science-fiction retelling of the legend of this Macedonian king. A visual masterpiece, Reign tells the story of Alexander's triumphs through engaging characters, intricate plots and glorious battle sequences. Lupin the Third will air Monday-Thursday at 12 midnight (ET, PT), beginning Monday, January 13. Programming information for both Reign and Trigun will be announced at a later date.
Feel free to add any line-up changes that Cartoon Network is going to be doing come future months. :) ---------- Finally, I'd like to add that just because this is no doubt a news thread, I do NOT want posts like "nice!," and "cool beans!" The spamming in this thread should not exist under any circumstances; that is not what this thead is for. This thread was created to discuss the changes that Cartoon Network is taking with their anime, not to show enlightenment by it. If you are shocked or discuraged by what they are doing, please work that into your post and explain what you are happy or mad about.

Times are stressful for a lot of people these days, me included but sometimes we can find comfort in odd places. I remember not too long ago I went into work one morning only to be inform that I had been let go. Angry and stressed out I walked back home but picked up my mail along the way. That day I had received a volume of Lucky Star from Netflix so I popped it in once I got home. By the time that hour and 40 minutes were over my mood had greatly improved and things seemed not so bad. It became my comfort anime. So I ask you, do you have a comfort anime? I think I made a thread about this sometime last year, but that was more of a general Miyazaki/Ghibli discussion, so I figured it would be better to start fresh. Anyway, the English Howl's Moving Castle trailer can be found here. Suffice it to say that this movie is pretty much guaranteed to become my favorite Miyazaki film--I've been in love with the book for years, and I can't imagine such a good director screwing up one of the most charming stories I've ever read. On that note, I really encourage people to go buy the book (it's by the British author Diana Wynne Jones); I'd be awfully depressed if the movie's June theatrical debut did nothing to boost sales. It's a delightful, romantic, charming piece of work--and incredibly funny, to boot. I hope some of Ms. Jones' sly comedy has been carried over into the film. Thus far I've seen nothing to keep me from having absolute confidence in the movie's creators. For one thing, the character artwork is perfect. Miyazaki isn't known for filling his movies with bishounen, but Howl's design is excellent--almost exactly what I had first imagined when reading the book. So he gets major points for making Howl appropriately attractive. Sophie looks great as well--which is unsurprising, given how often eccentric old women have appeared in earlier Miyazaki films. And of course the animation in general is going to be ravishing. So who else is looking forward to Howl's Moving Castle? For me, at least, June can't come soon enough. ~Dagger~

This world consists of two dimensions joined as one, like a mirror. The first is the world in which the humans live, Assiah. The other is the world of demons, Gehenna. Ordinarily, travel between the two, and indeed any kind of contact between the two, is impossible. However the demons can pass over into this world by possessing anything that exist within it. Satan is the god of demons; but there's one thing that he doesn't have, and that's a substance in the human world that is powerful enough to contain him!! For that purpose he created Rin, his son from a human woman, but will his son agree to his plans? Or will he become something else...? An exorcist?

So the first episode of Blue Exorcist aired at the weekend and very quickly became part of my "stuff I need to watch" list now that Star Driver has ended and my Sundays are anime free. Quite impressed overall by the pilot, good mix of humour and action while maintaining a kind of serious edge and I'm loving the VA choices. I enjoy occult/religious type series, though I haven't read the manga yet, I'm trying to avoid spoiling things on myself because I think this is probably one of those series which is better adapted as an anime if there's a lot of action. Anyone else watching it ? gg seem dicey on whether or not they'll keep subbing it, hopefully they will as I've not heard much about Kata-Subs and they've no track-record yet from which to judge them.

Apparently, there's been a lot of talk about this series as of late. Talk ranging from "awesome" to "a rip off of Bleach". BONES is behind the series, and I will admit that I have been impressed with some of their work. I've only seen Fullmetal Alchemist and Eureka 7. And while both series could do some work with their main characters, there support characters brought things to life. I'm kind of expecting the same here for some reason.
Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch. Soul Eater is an anime that centers around meisters and their weapons and their mission to collect 99 evil souls and 1 witch soul. Upon doing that the meister's weapons will become a Deathscythe, which is the highest title for a weapon. Maka, Soul Eater, Black Star, Tsubaki, Death the Kid, and Patty and Liz Thompson are the characters Soul Eater revolves around. Besides taking the time to gather souls these students of Shibusen defend Death City from some of the most powerful of creatures while still attending school and trying to become stronger.
In any case, I did see episode 1, or rather snippets of episode 1. While I'm not completely sold just yet, I am impressed with the fighting and animation. That was some good stuff there. Character design could use a bit of work. I've never really been a fan of quirky lookin characters, but I managed to put up with One Piece's weird artwork for some time now, so I'll adapt to this one eventually. Also from what I've seen so far, and what that description says, it sort of has a look of one of those Shin Megami Tensei games. One more thing. FUNimation has licensed this series as well. So the dub work will be pretty decent as well. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-12-31/funimation-adds-soul-eater-anime-from-media-factory So anyone been watching this series? Thoughts? I don't know if I'll continue to watch it subbed, but once it hit the states, I'll continue where I left off. I didn't know BONES handled Cowboy Bebop's animation. :o

I've totally fallen out of the anime fandom, but recently have started to get back into it via Naruto (used to love that series). But in general I have no idea what's going on with the anime scene in general or what's out or what's new-- so I decided to come here and ask! I guess I could say I prefer action/shounen anime, but my favorite shows are a mish-mash of everything-- I'd say top four: Fullmetal Alchemist, Evangelion, Naruto, Ouran High School Host Club. Heavy emphasis on Fullmetal Alchemist, I like seriously adore the manga and really liked the anime too. OHSHC is kind of an outlier, I usually cannot stand shoujo series or romance anime, but it brings the lolz and has lots of 2D-hot guys than I could get behind it. I just prefer an ongoing series that has an active fandom, as it seems like Naruto's is kind of dead imo, but I like filing away the less popular/shorter quality series for when I'm bored (like Kaiba or Mushishi). Series I've tried to get into but it didn't work out: - Axis Powers Hetalia - Soul Eater - Bleach and One Piece lol ty :D

I was wondering if ergo proxy was any good?? thinking about making it the next series I watch.

I've been debating on whether I want to do this thread or not. Kind of thought there'd be a thread on this a long time ago. Considering how much of a fan I am of fights (a story can be really bad, but if it has some great fights I wouldn't care) and I just know how much we all love the "favorite" topics I figured might as well get one of these rolling as well. You can describe the fight or post a video. It don't matter to me. I'll say this much on my end though. Almost every video I post is for its animation and the fights tend to keep me glued to my seat. Enough talk. Rurouni Kenshin Kenshin vs Saitoh Bleach Byakuya vs Kouga (part 1) Byakuya vs Kouga (part 2) That's it for now.
