1. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/26/update-on-playstation-network-and-qriocity/ So somebody stole a bunch of vital information off of PSN. If you have a PS3, I imagine that this is something you'd like to be aware of.
2. I just went on the Live Marketplace and found a really cool add-on for one of my favorite games, and I didn't even know it existed. I figure a good thread like this could let people know if the DLC for their favorite games are worth it, or to let people know that something good is out there. I don't have a PS3, but I hear Playstation network has DLC for games as well, so this topic can cover that too, however this is only for add on content, so no indie games or full game downloads. Anyways, the DLC that made me want to start this topic is Mass Effect: Bring Down The Sky, which goes for 80 MP. The cheap price-tag is the main reason why I got this, but the mission is as long and elaborate as any storyline mission in the game, (and there is really only six main storyline missions so it is a pretty good) and they introduce an alien species that later appear in the sequel and effect the game. As far as gameplay goes, it is more of the same, but they throw a few twists like navigating through a minefield and some painful new turrets, (no more picking them off from afar) the story however is still almost nonexistent, but saving a planet should boost your hero rep enough. You also get top-of-the-line equipment at the end. Getting one of those Savant omni-tools is good, but leveling up might be better, since I am certain you will get at least two level gains during this mission, as well as more than 30 paragon or renegade points. My favorite DLC of all time, Borederlands: Secret Armory of General Knoxx. This 800 MP DLC is was the best 10 bucks I have ever spent. So other than just extending the level cap by 11 which will just give you a few hours of play time just strait leveling, this DLC is massive! There are probably around 50 missions, some are optional, but all of them are playable. two optional bosses, including an ultimate boss which takes four max level people to fight (unless you use glitches) which gives the game the pure Co-op feel I thing gearbox wanted. This series had a pretty lame ending, and this game add-on actually gave gamers the ending that the fans really wanted. a cool boss battle with an awesome and hilarious villain, and more treasure than you could ever hope to hold (unless you use a glitch) This add on will keep you coming back for playthrough after playthrough and I would have to sum up the play time between 20-50 hours for the normal purchaser. Another honorable mention is Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion: Knights of the Nine. Priced at 800 MP this Add-on takes you deeper into the religious lore of Oblivion, at the same time adding fairly interesting quests. The benefits of this Add-on are very slight. other than a few new items here and there, you wind up with a pretty set of dragon armor like the kind the king wore right at the end of the original game... unfortunately it is really lousy armor. The story is actually kind of interesting though, and I like how it still incorporated the world, unlike most DLC which tend to ship you off to some new land that just sprang out of nowhere (like the next installment does) The time you spend in this DLC can very, but I would say it is between 4-6 hours for the average person. I am sure I will think of more good ones later...
3. Suggestions:

Why is there no mechanism to remove excess ice from a glass? I have been a bartender for several years, and my natural instinct is to shake the extra ice out of the glass. If you could somehow make that a feature I would love it, ecause I find myself overdoing the ice just barely and it drives me insane.
Why can't I salt or sugar the rims of glasses?! WHY!?
I need to be able to use a blender. It's driving me insane.
-Shy Edit: I thought it would be a good idea to create a suggestions topic that is separate from the "bugs" topic. Bugs are just things that actually aren't working in the game as it is now, whereas here, we can suggest further improvements/enhancements that we'd like to see. I'm in love with you, Josh. - James
4. I was watching some Super Street Fighter 4 clips on youtube and on the little side panel I saw "The Beast is Unleashed" or something like that and saw I don't follow these tournaments or whatever, nor do I really care for Street Fighter 3, but all I can do is shake my head at that because I know I can't do that. Anyway, this is pretty much an anything goes thread. Whether you've experienced it first hand or something you found on the net that you think is epic, post it (or you can talk about it). That uppercut is epic by itself.
5. So, if there's anyone unfamiliar with this, I'll give the two general rules.

Catch ONLY the first Pokemon to appear in a new area.
If your Pokemon faints, it is counted as dead and you must release it or put it in a PC box and never use again.
Of course, some people add rules and whatnot, but those are the two main ones. Personally, I actually suspend rule one if I find a shiny. ONLY if I find a shiny, though. Here's the original website, by the way: My link So, have you taken the Nuzlocke challenge? Do tell about your team, both the fallen and the living. I'm currently working on a Nuzlocke for Pokemon Black. So far I've lost only 2 friends out of the 8 that I've caught. The first was Lewis, the Pansear. He went down in battle valiantly during the first gym. In truth, I knew he was probably going to do so, and I wasn't greatly affected by his death. But then there was Peckington. Peckington was a Pidove that I caught right before the second gym. He had just evolved into a Tranquill when we fought Burgh... I accidentally sent him out and thought that he could take on the stupid Dwebble. I lost Peckington that day. He was such a derpy little bird...
6. If you can come up with a better name please do so I can have someone change the title. I got the idea from an article I was reading on IGN. They were talking about why most superhero/movie based games never work. The writer went on about what he/she'd think could work in those type of games and then I went on to read some of the comments... (I really need to stop reading them since most of them just ##### a lot) One person mentioned they'd like to see an X-Men game that has a similar style of play to Mass Effect (I'd like to see that as well) What are some games you wish would be tried in a different genre/style? For instance; I'd like to see a Final Fantasy game play like a Metal Gear Solid game. I don't know how that would work but I'd like to see anyway lol. Let Kojima get his hands on that game I bet he'd work some magic.
7. Hey everybody. I use to play this game like four years ago when it first came out, but was lured back in when my boyfriend discovered it in the past month. I have to say that they have added a lot of new features. Unless your off playing Rift (which I'm jealous if you are) or your broke like me and want to save those bucks in your wallet, Fiesta is not a bad investment. So far I have a level 23 cleric, a free-to-play game that is easily downloaded off of outspark's website. I was curious how many Ob'ers have tried playing fiesta or any that are currently playing? I remember when we had a guild in GW, and I got to interact with everybody! I miss those days! However if you haven't played before, try it out. Honestly, I never really had fun playing free-to-play games before so its a new experience. The only complaint I could say is that some of the beginner towns have repeatable quests. Would love to know some gamers reactions. Ahem...Gavin....White...Desbreko...Boo? Come on I know your out there. Opinions. <3
8. Wow, no thread for perhaps the best fighting game. Heh, while everyone seems to be clamouring over Fallout 3, Dead Space and Gears of War 2, and that's fine and dandy, but none of those games caught my interest. Perhaps it's, because I'm losing interesting in the FPS genre "shrugs". I've always been a fan of the Street Fighter (And VS series.... Tatsunoko vs Capcom looks sexy) and this is my most anticipated game bar none. (The new SF anime looks hot, too.) Anyway, scheduled to come come out the first quarter of winter for the consoles. (I hear that it's out for the arcades already... I've not been to an arcade in years) I'm certain we've all seen the pictures that're floating around to boast it's graphics and whatnot. Speaking of which, I love it, but at the same time, I hate the look of Ryu and Ken. They are, um, weird looking, lol. (What happened, Capcom?) I believe they have a full roster of characters, atleast according to http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g16/MidgetBottle/1226275908626.jpg?t=1226282214. I'm not certain if there will be unlockable characters or not. There's been talk about it at other forums. I was hoping to see Guy in this game. Seeing how Fei Long is in the game, I was hoping to see a Guy vs Fei Long fight. The characters below Honda and Ken, who are they? I don't think I've ever seen them before. I know the newer characters are in the row below Bison. And then the bottom row, the old guy on the right, whose that? Discuss.
9. So, today was the official launch date for BioWare's latest video-game. Now, EA or no EA, I'm enough of a fanboy to pick it up on the very first day; I freakin' love BioWare. I've only played it for a couple of hours, and haven't gotten into the guts of it yet, but man, it's amazing. The combat is 3rd-person shooter style, squad-based and real-time. It's really pretty simplistic, and a little too easy. The graphics, also, could be better, and there are some strange bugs related to collision-detection within the graphical models themselves. But that's really pretty forgivable, since that's not what the game's about. It's a story-driven RPG, so obviously that's where it should shine... and it does. The amazing conversation system allows you to interact with NPCs like no game before it, and the voice-acting is very well done and varied. The core story itself is not exactly unique, but told very well and is something Sci-Fi fans should love. It's not nearly as linear as previous BioWare games like SW:KOTOR, and far larger in scope. It's a bit like ES: Oblivion in space, with hot alien chicks in bikins hanging out everywhere. Speaking of hot alien chicks, Commander Sheppard (You can't change his last name, just his first) gets to bone one. FREAKIN SCORE! Er, anyway, Mass Effect is exactly what I've been waiting for this year. A big Sci-Fi hard on inducer to keep me busy for hours on end; the promise of two sequels (knowing EA, eight sequels, an innumerable gaggle of overpriced expansion packs, and ****** customer support are also in the future here...) and episodic content periodically released (HOPEFULLY FOR FREE!) on Live every now and again has me very excited about this series. Now... can it compete for the Game of the Year this season? Tough call. BioShock has a lot of hype about it, but personally I thought it was way to linear and short; stunning graphically and full of all kinds of goodies but not the kind of thing you can play for weeks on end. Mario Galaxy and a couple of others should be competitive, but with the news that Assassins Creed isn't all its cracked up to be (Bugs, bad AI, etc etc), I think Mass Effect has a legit case. Woot, nerdboy rant over!

I've been needing a little bit of variety in my rpg's as of late (although I'm suppose to be a break from the genre), and while I'm not much of a fan of western RPG's, Mass Effect just has interesting written all over it. The only game I played from Bioware was Jade Empire (I think that was them), and I did have fun with it. I even liked the conversation aspect of it. Mass Effect seems to toy around with gun customizing, and I'm pretty curious about how that turns out. The only other game that I'm finding really interesting like this is Alpha Protocol (I'll make a thread on that one too).

In any case, the release date is this Tuesday. While I won't be getting it, I know my brother-in-law will. (I don't have a Xbox anyway) Anyone excited for the last Halo game?
13. So, the topic really answers what this is about, what game that you either recently bought or just decided to pick up after it sitting there collecting dust have any of you been playing recently? I've been playing Kingdom Hearts : Birth By Sleep :D So much fun!

With Versus and Agito (sp?) also being released (don't know when) all I can really ask is, is this really needed? Not that I mind but still. I was under the impression that XIII wasn't that great, with all the complaining I keep hearing about the game.
15. Link
Considering its confirmed lack of presence at this year's E3, we were pretty much expecting a long summer of waiting until a new Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer of some kind to be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show this coming September (16th to 19th), however, the Japanese press this week have managed to get their grubby hands on new pictures from the game, as well as an interview from its director Tetsuya Nomura, as well as some comments on the game's soundtrack by composer Yoko Shimomura. Before showing the scan we have, I'd like to point out that all three shots used in the magazine run on the in-game graphics engine, and is actually currently running perfectly on Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) hardware. The two pictures on the left are taken from exploration sequences, whilst the bigger picture on the right comes from a battle sequence, and I'll go into more detail about all this after the scan. The screenshots themselves have been doctored by Square Enix to hide anything they don't want showing yet, for example the exploration screenshots have had a form of HUD removed that features Noct's head. More details on other edits further on after the scan. So, first of all the bad news. Nomura has confirmed, following rumours a the beginning of the year, that Final Fantasy Versus XIII will feature no world map, as originally promised. Whilst a world map/overworld system had originally been planned, and even programmed, in the long run the director felt that the switch to an overworld with a "little Noct" running around just didn't feel right with the rest of the game, and so its been replaced with huge explorable "linking locations" similar to those used in Final Fantasy XII. These locations are supposedly incredibly vast and you can explore every inch of them, and there's even destructables for Noct to hack at on the way. Using the first screenshot as an example, Nomura explained how you can visit every part you can see on that landscape, other than climbing the mountains in the background, which act as the location's border. He even points out that you can climb onto the roof of the service station in the second screenshot, just because you should be able to in real life! He also states that that "dusty landscape" is actually a/the road out of the city resembling Shinjuku in Tokyo, which has been the focus of much of the game's released screenshots so far, and that following that road leads to the gas station you see in the second screenshot, and which eventually leads to the sunken roadway we saw in the last trailer revealed way back when in the mists of time. Nomura uses this to explain that what we've seen of the locations so far all come from the opening sections of the game, a similar strategy employed by press releases for Final Fantasy XIII which nearly all covered the opening Chapter of the game. On the battle screenshot, Noct is fighting a Behemoth-style creature (whether a "generic" Behemoth, or just a member of the Behemoth family hasn't been specified yet), and this is a pure picture taken from the game's battle sequence, and is indicative of what things look like. The battle menu has been edited out, however, as they're not yet revealing aspects of how the system works, and whilst Noct is usually accompanied by partners in battle, they haven't been pictured here as their weapons and clothing haven't been shown in the press yet. The Behemoth shown in the battle screen is apparently a monster who's been harnessed for military purposes, which has led me to wonder whether the aspect of featuring "feral creatures" as well as technologically enhanced monsters like in Final Fantasy XIII could be making its way into its other-universe-counterpart. Tetsuya Nomura also points out that this paticular Behemoth has a blade on its back, possibly a hint to the fact that it may be able to use it to attack with? This could also be something taken from Final Fantasy XIII, as the Behemoth-class of Final Fantasy XIII may stand up and pull out a blade-like weapon when they lose half of their HP, though sword-wielding Behemoths did first appear in Final Fantasy XII. A technical point to make now is that the clouds and lighting effects of Versus XIII are generated on-the-fly by the engine, and that this process has allowed them to generate incredibly real-looking clusters of clouds that change and move as you watch them. And speaking of the lighting effects, locations of the game have been designed with specific colour-palettes and lighting effects to really try and give Versus XIII the feel of a "road movie". This may be just conjecture, but it seems as if the Fabula Nova Crystallis -Final Fantasy XIII- is being influenced a lot by media other than video games. Whilst Nomura is asserting the road movie feel of this game, Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama recently talked about how serialised dramas, particularly American ones influenced the storytelling of his game, specifically citing Lost as a major source of inspiration in its mixed use of flashbacks to explain present-day events. Returning to battle information, although we already knew that the game would be more action-oriented like Nomura's Kingdom Hearts series, this is confirmed once more as he states that there are no transitions from normal "walkabout" sequences and battles. Nomura also went on to speak about how you will be able to see some monsters on the map as it is, thus allowing you to try and avoid them should you not wish to fight them, but there will also be instances where monsters will surprise you by suddenly appearing out of nowhere, which in effect is a sort of simulation that will probably feel much like the random encounter battles of the older Final Fantasy games. I mentioned battle transitions above, and this is something is Nomura talked about during his interview. The development team are trying to make transitions as seamless as possible in Versus XIII, and so far whilst there is a bit of lag between in-game sequences and pre-rendered sequences (which they're currently working on reducing), in-game transitions are much fluider, with the only real transitions happening when you move from one major area to another. Finally, a brief blurb came from the game's composer Yoko Shimomura, who is probably most known to people for her work on the Kingdom Hearts series. She commented that she hasn't actually started real work on the game's composition yet, and that she's currently at the stage where she's discussing what kinds of themes the game will need, and as a result she's conferring with her team as to the direction and style the soundtrack should go in. This hints that the game would seemingly still have quite a while to go before we get to consider a release date for it. Speaking of music, I'd like to point out a little something I noticed. The one track we've heard for this game, used in its trailers, is called Somnus, which is Latin for "sleep", the game's logo features someone apparently sleeping, and in the scan above, on the right-hand side of the battle screenshot, you can see that the street is named "West Insomnia", with insomnia of course being a condition in which one finds it hard/impossible to sleep. Thats three very prominant references to sleep so far, although of course I could just be overthinking a wee bit. Final Fantasy Versus XIII so far has no projected release date, but with the current state of development as we know it, particularly its music section, I would estimate that late-2011 would seem the earliest possible release date for Japan.
This is the Final Fantasy I've been waiting for. Nothing against FFXIII (if I can ever get the inspiration to play it I'll definately check it out someday), but I'm hack n slasher's all the way. Thoughts?

Battle Tag

JoyStiq article This is apparently already pretty old news, but I just thought I'd share it for those who hadn't heard. Battle Tag's what UbiSoft themselves call a fun game/app hybrid. Basically it's just a home laser tag game, except connected to your computer. I'm not sure about how amazing this is. Could be loads of fun, though I find it fun how the article says the game is only announced to release in Texas and Canada so far. I guess in Texas to stop people from using the real thing and in Canada because not enough people use the real thing. Or summin' like that.
17. I've seen this at other forums and while they post a thread each month I figured why not just make it one big thread. I know this can also be discussed in the "What are you Playing" thread but I don't think people really talk about accessories in a game thread. Besides, the game you just recently purchased might not be the game you're playing. It's a good chance that you purchased the game and put it on the backburner until you finish up whatever it is that you're playing. Anyway, enough beating around the bush. Whether it was a gift or something you purchased post it. I know "lists" are rather taboo-ish but there's not really much to discuss in this kind of thread so I'm hoping we can be a bit lenient. (Especially if it's something you got from somebody else) Anyway, to kick things off I'm expecting my Xbox 360 to arrive in the mail sometime this week. Got it as a gift. The 1st games I'll be getting some time this week will be Assassin's Creed 1 & 2. Gamestop got a sale going on; buy 2 used games and get 1 free and only having $31 to my name at the moment I have to be as cheap as possible. That free game I've yet to decided what it will be. Right now I'm trying to decide between Devil May Cry 4, Halo 3 (May get ODST If I get Halo 3), Mass Effect (If I get this, I'll get 2 online), Super Street Fighter 4, Batman Arkham Asylum, Gears of War (If I get this, I'll get 2 online) or Bayonetta.
18. I got interested in this when I found out the PS3 has a decently functional browser. It has a few performance problems, and a few things are just not practical to do... but what it screamed to me was capability. I then found this little link which describes software that installs a version of Linux to your PS3... Pretty freaking cool! I am betting that the next game consols that come out are going to be computers that use the TV as a monitor. in order to keep up with computer game capabilities, the consoles just keep getting better and better. I know my Xbox 360 has more power behind it than my laptop (and I think my laptop is pretty good!) so it wouldnt be too hard for gaming companies to just throw in a keyboard and giving us an all in one deal. What do you guys think... are computers and consoles gonna start bridging the gap, or are emulators and software installations as far as the road goes.
19. I'm looking to get a desktop pc with either a AMD Athlon 2 or Phenom 2. Which is better? Im also getting quad core. Just want to know which of them is better for gaming and overall system performance.
20. I was watching G4's Feedback and there was a question brought up by someone (emailed question) asking if 2010 was a disappointing year for games. I thought it was an interesting question, so here we go. Was 2010 a good year for games for you? Disappointing? Do tell. As for me, well, I just recently got my 360 so in terms of actually playing games I can't speak on many, but as far as games that actually caught my eye there weren't that many. I think in 09 there were about 8-10 games that I was actually interested in while 10 there was about 4-5. The podcast people mentioned something about it being the year of DLC (if not DLC then just downloadables in general) and Mobiles (I don't play mobiles at all) and I can definately agree with them on that, or rather, it seems like it was that kind of year. If anything it was a nice opening year but got very dull toward the summer and then fell off completely (outside of Halo Reach) for the rest. Overall, I thought 2010 was disappointing. Incase you want to see G4's Feedback. The question starts around the 36:30 mark.
21. Alrighty then. With E3 ending and the bundle of games that were revealed it's that time again. What games, whether old or new can you NOT wait to get your hands on. Heck maybe you're still waiting on getting that PS3/Xbox 360/Wii etc, share all. I won't limit this to just this year seeing how there are still old games I'd like to get my hands on. As for me, I'm still trying to get a PS3 so I can my hands some of the older games for that. Mainly Metal Gear Solid 4. Ever since watching a walkthrough of the game made me want it that much more because I know it'll be an entirely different experience once I get my hands on it. Another oldie I wanna get my hands on is Devil May Cry 4. I already beat it on the 360, but I wanna play it for the PS3 because I'm a lot better with sony's controller. Other oldies: Batman Arkham Asylum, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Assassins Creed 2, Street Fighter/Super Street Fighter 4, Bayonetta, Uncharted 2 (that will actually be the 2nd game I get after MGS4) Now for the newer games. The one game that really struck out at me was Assassins Creed Brotherhood. I don't know why it struck out so much at me but I guess the thought of leading your own band of mercenaries/assassins just seems far too good to pass on. And then there's Marvel vs Capcom 3. Granted that I've hardly played much of it, I'm a big fan of MvC2, or rather the whole Marvel and Capcom crossovers. I love how the game looks and the high-speed action looks great. That's it for now.
22. This is going to be long. Xbox 360 Best Story - Mass Effect 2 Other Nominees - Alan Wake, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Enslaved, Red Dead Redemption Funniest Game - Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Other Nominees - Costume Quest, Dead Rising 2, Deathspank, Fallout: New Vegas Are any of these games actually funny? Never played any of them. Never heard of Costume Quest or Deathspank and then Red Dead and Fallout don't look like it has a funny atmosphere to it... "shrugs" Games rarely make me laugh anyway. Best Competitive Multiplayer - Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Other Nominees - Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Halo: Reach Color me surprised to see a racing game beating out shooters. Guess I'll have to get it to see why it was nominated for this category. FF13 is a Sci-Fi game? I mean I can understand it in a sense since there's a lot of futuristic stuff, but I'd throw this in fantasy before I throw it under sci-fi. And then I was not aware that Spider-Man was sci-fi either. Gotta be a mistake somewhere. Best Horror Game - Heavy Rain (What!?) Other Nominees - Dead Nation, Dead Rising 2, Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare When I think of horror, I'm usually thinking of something like Resident Evil or Silent Hill (granted I don't play horror games) but for Heavy Rain I think of it being either a thriller, but, obviously this is just going by videos since I've never played the game. 23. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 It's been a while since I've last played a Tekken game. The last one I played was Tekken 5 and I didn't like that one too much. I think we know how I feel about the Tekken games, but incase you don't know, well just know that I'm not a fan of the Tekken series, but out of the games I've played I enjoyed Tekken 3 and the first TTT the most. This one here looks good and might renew my interest in the series.
24. Hot dog was i excited when i heard the bioware was coming out with dragon age 2. I mean a game that big and successful a sequel is imminent. but so soon!? what is bioware thinking? it hasn't even been 2 years has it? i almost feel like it may..suck Then again assassins creed brotherhood turned out alright (so i hear) and that was like a year later.. then again that is considered a Huge add-on. even though all places in assassins creed 2 are unavailable? But i digress. Dragon age "2" its obviously a sequel instead of a "add-on" mistaken for a sequel. the 2 declares there is no mistake this is a sequel. But has bioware had enough time to make a decent game? i sure hope. Dragon age origins was a great game and had great interactiveness. But how can they follow that up in under a year? Any ideas on the story? i have heard many different ideas such as it takes place from a different POV during the first one. Other ideas is that you follow the main character from the first as a new character. would love to hear other peoples opinions on this subject. (sure hope the answer to my question isn't on some website and i just made a fool of myself )
25. We've got the trailer, and it's got Max von ******* Sydow narrating. Bethesda you have officially won my loyalty back after Fallout 3. Brothers and sisters of Skyrim our time has come, we shall meet this threat with blood, sweat and steel. We shall drive these wyrms back to the depths that spawned them. We shall know no rest, no pity, no mercy until at last we are victorious. If our swords are shattered we shall fight with our shields, if our shields are broken we shall fight with our bare hands, and if our hands are ruined then with our very teeth we shall tear out the throats of our enemies! For Skyrim! For Shor!
