To any surviving relatives in the Tam family, she died in a quick car crash, no lingering, no suffering. I express my condolences as profoundly as I know how. I'll take good care of her. My only regret is that you'll never know how much she loved you all, even when things were terrible.

New memory acquired, person: Jason Meyers

Jason was a 21 year-old graduate of University of Lincoln in Shoreville, California. He was killed due to severe burns stemming from a fire that ignited in the apartment he was in. Jason has only one known surviving family member, his younger brother Korey. Korey's current whereabouts are unknown, but he was the last person reported seeing Meyers at the hospital before his demise. To whomever is connected with this grisly accident, we send our condolences. May his soul rest in peace.

[/SIZE][/B][/U][SIZE=1]Philip James Madison was an unusual case, in that he was the one who admitted himself to our care - we find that usually it is a friend or relative who admits a patient, sometimes even a doctor or hospital administrator. Madison was showing signs of dissociative personality disorder, one of the most alarmingly aggressive cases we have ever studied.

His personality seemed to switch between three major identities: Philip Madison himself, his brother Matthew and a dangerous psychopath named Gianni Franco. Police reports show that Franco was a real person, an enforcer for crime boss Juliano Marcone, and was recently shot and wounded by police - he died in hospital under Madison's care, so it is possible that Madison assumed Franco's identity sometime after this event. These three are the dominant personalities, however we have no reason to suspect that they are the only ones. Sometimes Madison shows traits belonging to none of the three identities, so it is likely that there are more personalities who are simply less dominant than Philip, Matthew and Franco.

He has shown no signs of improving, even with the course of psychotherapy we have been administering. In fact, his condition seems to have steadily worsened over the three months he has been with us. We are reluctant to try any medication until it has been confirmed that all psychological avenues have been tried and tested.

Philip Madison is, in short, a very sick man, and we must keep a close watch on him at all times.

[/I]We have experimented with all the possible psychological treatments available to us. A combination of this, and a number of violent outbursts have led us to believe that the only possible alternative is a powerful course of medication. He is to be sedated at almost all times, to avoid these outbursts, and a specialist in DID is being flown in from Los Angeles to try a number of psychological tests which are unqualified to perform.

Matt was my only brother, three years older than me and in the prime of his life. He was cut down long before his time, in a mugging gone wrong - shot three times in the chest and twice in the stomach, right next to me. The man responsible fled the scene, presumed still at large, and my brother died in my arms, of blood loss, before the ambulance could get there.

Second new memory acquired: Gianni Franco

After six months of working as an intern in Oakland General Hospital, a patient was rushed into A&E with a police escort. He had been shot four times in the abdomen by police during a raid of some kind, and had been admitted with serious blood loss. We did everything we could, but he died while we were operating. I had been holding his hand while he was on the table, making sure he had a pulse, and now I'm stuck with him. I later confirmed, through his ID, that it was the dangerous mob enforcer Gianni Franco. Gon, Halberd, Warren, Merlin, Elizabeth, Dan, Candy, and Andy... You eight and I are the only people who will remember Lupin in a positive way. More importantly, you may now talk freely about him to anyone. When he was alive, talking about him would have caused the police to be suspicious of you and maybe question you, but now that he's dead, it doesn't matter. It's a shame he had to live his life in secrecy, but he shall be remembered for his deeds, especially for the fall of the Mini Mafia. At least now he can (hopefully) move on to a new, better life...

I'd like everyone to remember Panther as a bold and wild individual. She was never that close to me, but I can't imagine how Warren, her brother, must feel about her death. Hmm, he might feel just like I did when I lost Lupin...

And if the Black Cat Bandits were still around, I'd tell them that the way Panther died is an incentive to avoid harming people while the victim is aware of your presence, and to avoid doing the more violent stuff to innocent people. Alas, there is a moral to this story.[/color]

[COLOR="darkorchid"][FONT="Times New Roman"]The Phenoms as we have started calling them are far more varied and adaptable than previously believed. They can hold up to four minds within one body before breaking down. The rare in between case of 10 in one soul, or even an entire maternal or paternal line in one person has also been studied, but their strength and relative intelligence makes capturing them difficult. There are six known HyperPhems still in California and there will be a reward for the safe capture of one, preferably sedated. However they are also the most frightening out of the three types of Phenoms. Their raw strength, prescience, and abilities are unparalleled by all others.

Carol: the maternal line of the Dashiell family.
Johann: the paternal line of the Van Hess clan.
Riskéa: the maternal line of the Beurren clan.
Vahn: the paternal line of the Monterola family.
Wesley: the maternal line of the Miller family.
Timonty: the paternal line of the Dixon family.

The Eaters are perhaps the biggest threat and the worst example of the mutation of the Phenoms. They eat souls mindlessly, only seeking to obtain more power, more energy, and seem to know no bounds as far as ruthlessness and wanton violence are concerned. Mercifully, they are not over-endowed with a full compliment of wits, intelligence, or any other cognitive ability. A HyperPhem can take one down in a matter of moments, and even an average Phenom can trap and kill an Eater if they're given enough time. And since most Phenoms have one or more enhanced sense they can hold their on well enough.

But as for the humans who have yet to discover new souls in their minds, it is suggested that you remain as isolated as possible. Stay inside, don't go out at night. And seek shelter with friends and others you can trust. It will not be safe for much longer, and infection is inevitable. Whether you will turn into a stable Phenom or an Eater is still entirely up to random chance. God's playing dice with the world. Best to hedge your bets.[/FONT][/COLOR]

New Memory Acquired: Celia Murakage
Method of Death: Heart failure due to old age

Celia will be (un)fondly remembered by all members of the Murakage family, but especially my grandparents, Mimi Murakage and Inoue Himata, who saw her as a mother. (In Mimi's case, she was her mother.) I hold a fond reverence for her for helping me realise the curse, and I say a prayer for the spirit of Kazuo Kibara, who really should have been her husband in place of Kenji, like how Lupin should have been my husband instead of Mr. D. (Then again, if that were true, I might not exist! How fate works out...)

I also changed my name to Yamiko when I married out of reverence for her--she wanted to name me Yamiko ever since I was born.

[center][b]SAN MATEO COUNTY NEWS BULLETIN[/b][/center]

We just got a report of another Eater attack tonight around 9pm. The victim was a taxi driver by the name of Will Sharrow, who was driving a woman to a grocery store (where another Eater attack had just taken place) from the San Francisco International Airport. Along the way, the cab was ambushed by two eaters, who scared the victim senseless yet did not hurt him. Apparently they were after the passenger instead. The taxi halted, and the passenger--now identified as Yamiko Murakage of Boston--immediately fled the taxi. Fortunately, Will was not harmed; the Eaters left to chase after Yamiko instead. We do not know whether or not the Eaters got her.

Inspection also shows that Will was missing some money from his pockets when he came back to his senses. Currently it is not known who caused this petty theft, due to lack of evidence, though all parties present and maybe a few random bums are possible suspects.

The police are also requesting that Yamiko be questioned about this incident--if she's still alive that is.[/color]

[COLOR="DarkOrchid"][FONT="Times New Roman"]Eater Case Study: Dr. Kekland

We have successfully captured an Eater and studied it's psychological extensively. Research has concluded that at least in this particular case study, there is no intelligence near to that of a human's. The personality matrix of said Eater was so fractured as to virtually unrecognizable, with different traits and emotions and memories falling into one another. Their instability not only stems from multiple fractured personalities but also from a severe paranoia of discovery.

The particular Eater we apprehended was caught after an extensive chase and more than ten times the usual dose of tranquilizers to sedate. Physically mutated into an excessively muscled yet agile creature, with the tell tale eyeshine present, this particular Eater bit off it's own tongue to kill itself when it eventually realized we were going to study it further. Why do I not give it a gender? Simply because it was not even recognizable as either male or female by the time we had caught it.
