why?

Because DragonBall Z, in Japan, wasn't aimed for Children to watch... it was aimed at young adult, teenagers, and adults.

American society generally views cartoons, or animated series, as genre for children. Plus, FUNimation, the people who dub the series into English, are aiming the program at children. Thus due to that, and stupid censorship laws in America, things must be changed so that they may be "suitable" for children... such as the redoing of dialogue, editing out parts, etc etc... although I personally feel that FUNimation has gone edit-happy an changed WAY more than needed.

So yeah, you can see why. If you live in Canada, Australia, or the UK... you can blame your country for importing the poor American POS version of DB/Z. If not, then you can blame American censorship "values" and FUNimation for it.

i wounder why they don't just put it on adult swim
Because it's aimed at children... and by 11:00/12:00 at night, MOST children are asleep.... they wouldn't have and won't make near as much money.... it's all about business...

They should put the series on adult swim but leave it as it is exactly supposed to be so true db/dbz/dbgt fans can watch it and get the right information.
That´s a good idea but it will never come true becouse, unless they show the original version with sub, they would have to do another voice over work and that takes time and money.

It would be nice but most likely that'll never happen. And this helps the internet bussiness, for devoted fans of dragonballz to stay up all night and spend all their time on nothing but downloading the real episodes all day and spend all other times learning Japenese, so you know the truth and become a geek like me!

Yeah, it does suck becazsue it's supposed to show Bulma and Vegita having Trunks. It's kinda cheap that they don't show anything. I eman kids already know what sex is and all that, so kids need to learn more about that kind of stuff anyways, g2g...bye:devil:

Thats just more work for them...

They play the edited versions on TV, and then sell the unedited versions... this way they make twice as much money.

they show unedited outlaw star & tenchi on adult swim. maybe they'll eventually show unedited dbz. but i still think the subs are better anyway.
No they dont, of course theres going to be no nudity but besides that, Jim and Gene still played "Go Fish" instead of poker and the lots 'o' blood wasn't there. Also, They cut out this one scene with Jim talking to Melfina ( they cut out a few scenes actually like at the strip club place), and Tenchi is the same, people dont get drunk off regular green tea ya know.

Well actually in Outlaw Star its good tons of digtal bathing suits on Melfina. She is always nude. Ayways its on Adult Swim and I don't know why they don't show the unedited of DBZ. Heck I'd rather read the truth than hear the false. But its not going to happen so why complain.

cencorship can be a good thing if it is done in good taste. Most movies/etc rely on nudity and violence to replace a storyline, so that people feel 'satisfied' and don't worry about the absence of storyline.

Besides I'm avidly against nudity/sex scenes/porn/hentai etc

that is just who I am

I've said this all along but, oh well...

My main argument is that kids are gonig to see blood, gore, nudity, etc., etc. no matter what. Some in their own home. I know that if you go out here late at night (Late meaning starting at 6 PM), you'll see blood, gore, nudity, and so on at night. Hell, I can't walk down the street without comin across one of those things.

So I say "Why bother?"

Now, the entire frickin government would be all "Well, we want to prevent any unnessicary violence."

My responce.."Dude... It's a CARTOON. Little kids know they can't go around firing ki blasts and defeating a dude with a tail that transforms and makes his hair go blonde. Get over it. One day, that little kid that's been watching that show is gonna go outside, and see blood, gonna see gore, and he's gonna have sex.

But when he first steps out and sees that blood, he's gonna think 'WOAH! THAT NEVER HAPPENED ON DBZ! He shoulda caught the bullet like the Radditz did!'. And then the kid'll stop watchin the show because he now knows the truth. If you had just left the show the same, then the kid would still be inside, watching the show because he knew that it was real.

People want to know the truth, and once that kid realizes the truth, he'll want to find out more. And more. And more. and eventually, everyone of that kid's friends will know the truth, because it's natural that people communicate. And when that happens, the editing becomes lame. And then.........FUNi loses....."

Now, this is my point. I made it up. I made it up, it being exactly what I would say if I ever had to give a few reasons why editing should be edited. (Yooooink :cross: )

To me, editing the actual scenes is just a waste of time, money, and resorces. FUNi spens so much time editing the dammed show, that more and more people are walking outside instead of watching the repeated episodes. And eventually, they'll lose all of the viewers.

Editing, censorship, ANYTHING that messes with the already-said/already-seen show should be illegal. IF you're just translating it, fine. If you're improving the quality, fine. But for Christ's Sake, DON'T CHANGE WHAT PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY SEEN.

I don't know why, when, or how, but this whole dammed world has become nothing but a bowl of soup for a hungry politician; This world is no-longer in control of itself. It's all about politics (Which is BAD.. BAD-BAD). Honestly, it makes me sick. They should copywrite the entire series, and include each and every episode, movie, and any retail item, and only allow for the language to be changed, and the quality to be improven upon.

That will most likely never happen, but I can dream..=/

I have to agree, but I also agree with TN. It would cost to much, and other things, ratings and such.

Btw, what episode are they up to in the UK anyway?, eh ken?

Your just now seeing the Babidi eps. I have seen them over and over and over again on Toonami. But I guess it just takes a little time for them to release it there. Well anyway were stuck at Final Atonement. Its pretty bad when the stores have eps that the tv versions don't.

why does the u.s. have to change a bunch of the words and names around in the dbz episodes?
Because Funi is being run by Barney.
