They didnt get together, which they should have and the end was a little white tree thing comeing out and shaking its head. I thought it was funny, but it was the worst at the same time.... The end wasn't confusing, and it wasn't bad. they did get togther.....kinda..... they were in love, if that's what you mean. AND TREE THINGIES ARE SO CUTE! Just the end of the saga, and they leave you hanging because the series goes on with another saga! I thought the Princess Mononoke ending was good. It didn't leave me just staring at the screen pondering what had happened or anything..... It was very reasonable. Even though San and Ashitaka were in love, neither could just drop everything they had known, so Ashitaka agreed to visit her and everything, but they both had to go on living the way they had been.
